It has occurred to me that the Ravenclaw quidditch team is disproportionately made up of scottish witches. Has this occurred to you, as well?

ngl I first read these asks and completely missed the “scottish” part and thought — “is three too many? what if nearly the entire team were witches? what if everyone on the team save for orion and andre were girls? what if there could only be one ravenclaw guy on the pitch at a time?”

Space: 1999 Stars Barbara Bain & Nick Tate Goes Board Documentary About Sci-Fi Show’s Legendary Spacecraft
Actress Barbara Bain, star of the British sci-fi series Space: 1999, is preparing to board an upcoming documentary about the Eagle, the famed spacecraft at the heart of the show that ran from 1975-1977.
Bain will appear in The Eagle Has Landed as will Nick Tate, her cast mate from Space: 1999. The documentary includes the participation of several other notable figures: Apollo XVI astronaut Charles Duke Jr., Academy Award-winning visual effects artist Bill George (Blade Runner, Star Trek), and Brian Johnson, the VFX artist on Space: 1999 whose work is said to have influenced Star Wars. The film is being directed and produced by Jeffrey Morris, who also hosts the documentary.
Tumblr media
The Eagle Has Landed “explores the cross-generational impact of the iconic vessel” in the series that also starred Martin Landau. According to a press release, the film “showcases never-before-seen archival footage” and will be released in time for the 50th anniversary of Space: 1999’s debut, in 2025.
“Space: 1999 appeared on TV a few short years after the world watched Neil Armstrong take the first steps on the moon,” Morris noted in a statement. “The show’s unforgettable Eagle inspired a generation to envision a future in space and is still doing so decades later. The question we explore is ‘why?’ What is it about this imaginary craft that has captured and held imaginations for nearly 50 years?
Tumblr media
Morris’s FutureDude Entertainment is producing the documentary in partnership with Zero Point Zero Production Inc. Anne Marie Gillen is a producer on the project, along with Morris. The film is written by Morris and Fredrick Haugen. Morris is represented by Espada Entertainment.
Space: 1999 ran for a total of 48 episodes, with Bain and Landau in all of them as, respectively, Dr. Helena Russell and Commander John Koenig (the actors were married to each other at the time; they had previously co-starred together in Mission: Impossible).
Tumblr media
The show revolved around the denizens of Moonbase Alpha, scientific researchers living on the moon whose existence was threatened by a nuclear explosion, which rocketed the moon out of Earth’s orbit. Tate, an Australian-born actor, played pilot Alan Carter on 42 of the show’s 48 episodes. Originally, his character was to be killed off in the premiere episode, a casualty of the nuclear explosion, but producers Gerry Anderson and Sylvia Anderson liked his work and expanded his role.
Tumblr media
“Hovering above the Moon in one of Alpha’s Eagle spacecraft, Alan Carter is an observer to this holocaust, watching helplessly as the Moon spins out into space,” according to a synopsis published by the Catacombs.Space1999.net website. “Sacrificing his only chance to return home, Carter decides to give chase to the runaway Moon, joining his friends on the endless intergalactic journey.”
Tate told the website, “I didn’t have to dig too deeply with this character. Alan Carter was all the things I was as a young man: friendly, happy-go-lucky, someone who loved adventure and accepted a challenge.”
Ian McShane, Joan Collins, and Leo McKern were among actors who appeared in single episodes of Space: 1999.

Re: Red Eagle/iWot for people who are new to the fandom:
So Red Eagle Entertainment (now iWoT) sued Harriet awhile back over rights issues for Wheel of Time and they're the ones behind this animated White Tower movie. They also made Winter Dragon and are notorious for sitting on the rights and not doing shit with it. Winter Dragon was a desperate attempt to hold onto the rights in 2015, they released it on FX at 3 am (whoever was on WoT Tumblr then remembers 😭 I blame the Dark One for my lack of sleep)
afaik the rights issues for WoT are now divided so Sony and Amazon own the TV rights and Red Eagle/iWot own the movie rights. I think the lawsuit from when they sued Harriet are to thank for this? So we can at least thank it for even making the show possible
A lot of us are thinking this might be another situation like when they announced those Age of Legends movies. The timing is suspicious, they announce this right around when s2 is close to premiering. They did the same thing with the Age of Legends movies announcement not long before s1 premiered. So they might be trying to remain relevant/in the news.

HEY!!! GREASE MONKEY!!!!! KEEP THE NOISE DOWN AT NIGHTTIME, YOU MAGGOT!!!!!!!! OR WE’LL PUT YOUR “PHD IN ASS-KICKING” TO THE TEST IN A REAL FIGHT, MAN TO MAN!!!!!!!! WITHOUT ANY LITTLE TOYS TO HIDE BEHIND!!!!!!!!!!!!
Engie sighed wearily — this was the third time he’d had to apologize for the same darn thing, and he’d only managed three hours of sleep the night before. " Sorry 'bout that, " he muttered, voice edged with exhaustion. " I've put in a request to soundproof the workshop, so hopefully it won’t get under anyone's skin next time. " Despite his dry tone, he still held onto that warm hospitality he was known for, even if it was running a bit thin.

Drew this back in January when I tried my hand at drawing World War II plane insignias for a co-worker who has a cool interest in airplanes, namely the ones flown by the Tuskegee Airmen. I've had this idea in my head after my recent obsession over The Shadow radio drama and pulps. I've always wondered what it would look like if there was an emblem that one of his agents would use on various weaponry.
I definitely need to use these on some graphic apparel when I'm able to print some.
Stay tuned, folks!!

In honor of MAR10 Day, now seems like a more appropriate time than ever to post this piece that I've had laying around for a little while— a concept for Super Star Sisters' title screen! This was merely a fun little project to test out tilesetting with limited colors, and it made for a cute and dainty final result that I think looks quite nice! 💙✨

#43 - Eagle Eye (2008)
…in which I examine if bad movies really deserve their woeful rotten tomatoes score Eagle Eye 2008 26% Jerry Shaw and Rachel Holloman receive a mysterious call from an unknown woman. The woman controls their every move and asks them to carry out a dangerous mission planned by a terrorist outfit. The first thing I recognized while watching this was the back of Michael Chiklis’s head. After some…

Anderson Entertainment Reveals Covers for UFO & Space: 1999 Novels from James Swallow
Anderson Entertainment is publishing two novellas by New York Times bestselling author James Swallow.
Jamie Anderson, managing director of Anderson Entertainment, acquired world all-language rights to the novellas directly from the author.
Swallow said he was “a lifelong fan” of company founder Gerry Anderson’s TV shows such as “Thunderbirds” and “Stingray”.
The two novellas, Space: 1999 The Armageddon Engine and UFO Shadow Play, are new stories set within the worlds of two of the biggest live-action Anderson properties, “Space: 1999” and “UFO”.
Both novellas will be published on September 13th 2024 for Breakaway Day, the annual celebration of the 1975 series "Space: 1999". The books will be published in a limited-edition hardback and paperback, with e-books to follow at a later date.
Swallow said: “Growing up, ’Space: 1999’ and ’UFO’ were a big part of my sci-fi landscape, and so it’s been great fun for me to revisit these characters to tell some exciting new stories. Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s creations are unique, retro classics and I’m thrilled to be teaming up with Jamie and everyone at Anderson Entertainment for this new era of adventures.”
The New York Times and Sunday Times bestselling author has written more than 65 novels including tie-ins, thrillers and video games.
Anderson said: "We started to publish non-fiction titles in late 2021, and since then we’ve been working with our partners at ITV Studios to create new stories based on these amazing TV shows. Working with James has been a real pleasure. He’s a genuine fan and we’re sure that they’ll appeal to long-time as well as new readers. We have much more to come."
The two novellas by Swallow will be available for retailers to order wholesale from Gardners as well as direct from Anderson Entertainment.
