is there reliable evidence? remember, doctoring of screenshots and images is so easy nowadays. people can make tens of throwaway accounts to fake things, so does this proof actually hold up

what are the intentions of the person spreading this info? this is a time where people will lie and fake outrageous things just for a moment of attention (even if negative). is this genuinely for a morally correct cause, or just to stroke someone's ego or monetarily benefit someone?

if youve done your research and have come to your own conclusions and they align with the original statement, thats good and you can continue on whatever. ive just seen so many times where a simple search taking just a few minutes can disprove serious allegations/accusations that were stated as facts. its depressing.

whats worse is that words spread by emotional outrage spread like flames and even if someone tried to stamp out the spread with a counter statement, it often is too late. and often with moral outrage, any counter or correction is seen as "oh, so you support a bad person... you must be bad too." most people are dissuaded from trying to correct these posts that way.

I've been trying to figure out a way to properly articulate this ever since I've noticed this exact person forcing people to read through their obnoxious "DNI" banner shit that they've put at the end of every. single Cripple Punk post that they' make, again, even if what they're talking about has nothing to do with fandom .... And I blocked them immediately when I saw them add their unwanted and unneeded opinion on "Proship vs. Anti" discourse to the already obnoxious banners that were ruining their long ass cpunk posts for everyone else.... And like, at first I felt bad for (finally) just blocking them for forcing me to read about their shitty cyberbully fandom opinion on a cripple punk post like "'anti anti'/'proshitters' DNI!" like y'know? Immature shit like that. Like, I felt really bad and shitty for even caring enough to have an opinion on their own shitty fandom related opinion like that shit even mattered in Cripple Punk at all....But then I saw them doing this shit, so I am going to be speaking my mind on this. My second to last point is this:... I'lI make this quick disclaimer that I know that Live Action Media such as Twilight and Harry Potter are entirely different animals that both could and have caused substantial amounts of harm, mainly due to the fact that with live action shit, it's real people needed to portray these characters, from these multiple million dollar franchises that most of us had shoved down our throats since forever, with real world consequences if anything goes wrong........ Like I said before, you could be a Cripple Punk with "Anti" or "Anti Anti DNI" in your bio and I simply choose not to pay attention to that nonsense or give a fuck...But at the end of the day, the "Anti Movement" is ultimately a "Movement" about telling people to kill themselves over Fiction. And I know that you wouldn't do that if you're part of the Cripple Punk Movement, but it makes me not want to get that close to you or trust you and this is the only post I'll make about it because I think some of you just need to reconcile with which boat you truly want to be and jump ships, so to speak... In Defense of Shitty Queer Art

Queer art has a long history of being censored and sidelined. In 1895, Oscar Wilde’s novel The Picture of Dorian Gray was used as evidence in the author’s sodomy trials. From the 1930s to the 1960s, the American Hays Code prohibited depictions of queerness in film, defining it as “sex perversion.” In 2020, the book Steven Universe: End of an Era by Chris McDonnell confirmed that Rebecca Sugar’s insistence on including a sapphic wedding in the show is what triggered its cancellation by Cartoon Network. According to the American Library Association, of the top ten most challenged books in 2023, seven were targeted for their queer content. Across time, place, and medium, queer art has been ruthlessly targeted by censors and protesters, and at times it seems there might be no end in sight.

So why, then, are queer spaces so viciously critical of queer art?

Name any piece of moderately-well-known queer media, and you can find immense, vitriolic discourse surrounding it. Audiences debate whether queer media is good representation, bad representation, or whether it’s otherwise too problematic to engage with. Artists are picked apart under a microscope to make sure their morals are pure enough and their identities queer enough. Every minor fault—real or perceived—is compiled in discourse dossiers and spread around online. Lines are drawn, and callout posts are made against those who get too close to “problematic art.”

Modern examples abound, such as the TV show Steven Universe, the video game Dream Daddy, or the webcomic Boyfriends, but it’s far from a new phenomenon. In his book Hi Honey, I’m Homo!, queer pop culture analyst Matt Baume writes about an example from the 1970s, where the ABC sitcom titled Soap was protested by homophobes and queer audiences alike—before a single episode of the show ever aired. Audiences didn’t wait to actually watch the show before passing judgment and writing protest letters.

After so many years starved for positive representation, it’s understandable for queer audiences to crave depictions where we’re treated well. It’s exhausting to only ever see the same tired gay tropes and subtext, and queer audiences deserve more. Yet the way to more, better, varied representation is not to insist on perfection. The pursuit of perfection is poison in art, and it’s no different when that art happens to be queer.

When the pool of queer art is so limited, it feels horrible when a piece of queer art doesn’t live up to expectations. Even if the representation is technically good, it’s disappointing to get excited for a queer story only for that story to underwhelm and frustrate you.

But the world needs that disappointing art. It needs mediocre art. It even needs the bad art. The world needs to reach a point where queer artists can fearlessly make a mess, because if queer artists can only strive for perfection, the less art they can make. They may eventually produce a masterpiece, but a single masterpiece is still a drop in the bucket compared to the oceans of censorship. The only way to drown out bigotry and offensive stereotypes created by bigots is to allow queer artists the ability to experiment, learn through making mistakes, and represent their queer truth even if it clashes with someone else’s.

If queer artists aren’t allowed to make garbage, we can never make those masterpieces everyone craves. If queer artists are terrified at all times that their art will be targeted both by bigots and their own queer communities, queer art cannot thrive.

Let queer artists make shitty art. Let allies to queer people try their hand at representation, even if they miss the mark. Let queer art be messy, and let the artists screw up without fear of overblown retribution.

It’s the only way we’ll ever get more queer art.

I think Gen z especially lives with a crippling amount of fear in general, but these things are a focus. But this particular brand of purity culture has a heavy emphasis on...can we call it the contagion of impurity? Honestly I think we can, right? If, say, you are a Youtuber who is friends with a recently cancelled fellow Youtuber, you MUST immediately publicly distance yourself from both your friend and their Bad Ideas. It will be demanded of you. "You were in contact with them; do you have the Bad Ideas too? Because if you do, I have to stop watching you lest others think I also have Bad Ideas."

I suspect that this is basically how we end up with my notes full of people who won't vote for Biden because he supports Israel. It doesn't matter that his domestic policies have been frankly more liberal than I hoped for. It doesn't matter that he's gotten a remarkable amount done given his constraints. It doesn't matter that Trump, the only opponent likely to be a real challenger, not only also supports Israel, but supports them with far more enthusiasm and far less reservation. What matters is that they not be associated with him and his Bad Ideas, even if that means giving up their chance to fight Trump. so you've decided to move here from twitter. welcome and congratulations. this post is basically a big warning that goes THIS ISN'T TWITTER, DON'T BEHAVE LIKE IT IS, LEAVE THAT AT THE DOOR

i'll be teaching you two things, how the site works, and how to adapt your behavior to tumblr ( and really, normal human being ) culture. believe me, it's not that hard and it will actually feel very productive

let's start with the basics and frequent questions

your username can be anything, don't stress about it

your picture can be anything. a lot of us don't even have dteam related stuff up on our profile

your display name doesn't have to be your name. nobody is going to see it when you post, only usernames are visible

check your settings. do it. get familiar with them. turning on and off asks, turning anon off, turning submissions off. click on your blog, go to blog settings, check things there, go to account, your muted things will be there, go to dashboard and customize that. use your settings !!!

yes, pinned posts are fairly important and they tend to be pretty extensive. name age what you post about ( a lot of people here are multifandom !), just don't overshare ( no locations no trigger lists i beg you ). they also usually have a breakdown of your tags at the end

it's a whole thing. some are actually useful. some are just passive commentary

the tags you put on posts ( both when you made the post and when you're reblogging something ) are both global and hosted on your profile. it's why you'll see things like "nameofperson art" rather than just "art". using just "art" will put you in the promoted tag, in this case

you can use spaces on your tags

usually you will tag what type of post you're making ( art, text post, ask post ), and then the contents keep in mind this is how people often mute things, some people tag the current situation, people use and mute ship tags. but this is also how people find things, like the specific asks from one person to another, so "username ask" is commonly used, "irl person ( dream, dnf, etc )" is also seen a lot just watch how others tag things and copy them. nobody will get offended you took their tag formatting, most of us will appreciate properly tagged posts

you do tag when you reblog people. you use tags to comment on things. don't really use replies unless you're, saying thank you to someone or pointing out a spell mistake or asking to add an option to a poll, etc. we don't do replies, just rb your reply

post popularity is measured in "notes" which is the sum of replies, reblogs and likes. we don't really care much about numbers here and if you start getting crazy about it people will not like it. this is more of a talking and showing site

i've said this. tumblr is unserious. drama here is approached very differently and with several less layers of panic. you will see death threats. you will see slurs ( said in non derogatory ways ). you will see jokes about serious topics. you will see people say "i didn't like this" and nobody will care

tumblr is a community of individualism. you will like your own things within the thing we share we like. you might not like dream's music, you might not find irl streams entertaining, as long as you're fucking normal about it ? nobody will care and you're free to express your opinions. people will even come ask you about it and just have a chat. we're here for the same content to some degree

tumblr is also a bunch of people who understand they like another bunch of people. that none of the streamers have stopped being human. so you might see people defend things that, maybe, you'd not have thought to defend before. maybe you're even uncomfortable seeing them defending it. this is something you will experience a lot, and you'll learn to properly deal with it as time passes

because again. no one does callouts here unless it is extremely bad. no one cares if you don't really like them. and they also accept people might and will not like them. and that is fine. and that doesn't make either person horrible. you're just different people. and you don't even have to interact

you want to make friends ? ask people things, compliment people's work, genuinely attempt to make conversation. this is not an impersonal website the way twitter is. people don't care about your opinions because they care about you, and you are more than what you don't like

the more positive and jokey and interactive you are the more people will talk to you. there's no "hitting the algorithm", there's no "engagement", it's just people talking to people. so don't be a neg posting bot, and be a person

She is so fundamental to the plot and themes and narratives of game and yet it is near impossible to find anything about her thats not ship bashing pre-mlm with the other two characters. I dont even care if she ends up with one of the main characters i just want fans to see her as a cool character to love or like, anything other than “annoying comphet girl.” You can write your mlm but pleaae stop inventing comphet where it doesnt exist. she gets treated in-canon the way fandoms treat female characters that Threaten an m/m ship. it's like, "oh why don't you go sit in the corner and be pretty, misa, while the Men have intelligent conversation and pretend they aren't ten seconds from fucking each other, doesn't that sound nice?" it's infuriating. and MAYBE it's better now but i remember her getting treated the same way in fanfiction too, like we all need to do just as badly by our female secondary characters as fucking tsugumi ohba, but with the added insult of making her be alternately oblivious of the relationship between light and L or actively trying to sabotage it—incompetently, of course, because god forbid misa be allowed dignity or moments of cleverness.

she's one of the first characters I think of when I consider old school fandom misogyny. The annoying bitch and clingy crazy gf allegations were AFTER HER ASS. She's also a lot more intelligent than people gave her credit for, but most seem inclined to take the Very Biased word of our unreliable, narcissistic narrator and his homoerotic arch nemesis and claim that just because she's bubbly and into romance that she's also a complete moron. Not only is she the victim of yaoi culture, she is the victim of early 2000s misogyny by an author that wanted to introduce a girl character because he knew his male rivals were getting too homoerotic. She is a goth bimbo icon who portrays what I think is one of the few callouts for stan culture and what parasocial relationships can do to both the stan and the idol. The fact that she is a toxic fan of Kira and also hot, funny, sociable is tragic in its own way, which I think the author did try to touch on but was too misogynistic too really get through. Of course, she was reduced to villain status by the fandom and anime alike because she got in the way of the supposed romance in their psychological horror anime.

god. i'm catching up on what happened to moira predstrogen and i am fuming just reading about it. i don't have any longform analysis for it but the fact that this site's staff can just essentially entirely nuke the blog of a prominent trans woman overnight because she posted a COMPLETELY SAFE FOR WORK TRANSITION TIMELINE OF HERSELF, and not to mention the deranged mass-reporting mob justice that she's been facing which lead to her blog getting annihilated wholesale! plus like! with how staff won't reinstate her blog AT ALL, alongside making cheeky snarky aggressive comments to her--sit down and think for one moment, no wonder why us transfems are so constantly angry all the time; this is the double-standard kiwifarms harassment campaign bullshit we have to CONSTANTLY face on a day-to-day basis! you just know if this horseshit happened to a prominent trans guy on this site we would NOT hear the end of it. but when it happens to a prominent tgirl here, suddenly it's justified because she's "evil" or someshit like that? make it make sense learning that callout post culture is predominantly and disproportionately wagered against transfems, and that people will literally just make things up about trans women--and people will uncritically eat it up and go out to burn the witch without thinking is just. that stuff flips your worldview on it's head. especially as a trans woman. anyways predstrogen is 100% justified in her righteous anger about this case. i hope she wins the harassment case that she's planning on filing
