Innamorata dell'estetica degli schermi e-ink e infreddolita al solo pensiero di uscire per recarmi in biblioteca ero a tanto così da acquistare un e-reader. Avrei potuto usarlo con l'applicazione di lettura del sistema bibliotecario (che però concede il prestito di soli tre ebook al mese) e in più un servizio in abbonamento; tra questi Kindle Unlimited è suggerito per ampiezza del catalogo e decido così di fare un mese di prova e due giorni fa mi iscrivo.

E che devo dirvi: a parte i classici, per il resto si trova una quantità di monnezza incredibile: best seller da ombrellone, young adult dalle copertine che rasentano il soft porn e una voragine di assenza al posto della saggistica.

Ho chiesto di annullare l'iscrizione al mese di prova gratuito dopo due giorni.

I picked up a Kobo Aura 2e for like $30 off eBay and I'm really enjoying it! I haven't had an e-reader in years, I'd forgotten how nice e-ink screens are to look at! I do wish more of my library was in epub or HTML though 😞

Előrendelhető az első két új Pebble okosóra

Alig néhány héttel azt követően, hogy a legendás okosóra gyártó szoftveres hagyatéka nyílt forráskódúvá vált, az eredeti cégalapító már meg is nyitotta az előrendeléseket két okosórára.

Nemrégiben mi is beszámoltunk a Pebble nevű egykori okosóra gyártó mára legendássá vált készülékeinek és főleg operációs rendszerének kalandos történetéről, azonban azt mi magunk sem gondoltuk volna, hogy alig egy hónappal azt követően, hogy a PebbleOS nyílt forráskódú lett, az eredeti cég alapítója, Eric Migicovsky bejelenti az első két modernkori okosóra előrendelését, az új rendszerrel a fedélzeten.

Azt már most előre le kell szögeznünk, hogy az új Core okosórák ((elvégre szükség volt egy új márkanévre) nem az Apple Watchok és Garminok ellen száll harcba, mindkét modell elérhető árú és elsősorban a régi felhasználókat célzó modellnek készül. Éppen ezért nem meglepő, hogy a Core 2 Duo (hehe) lényegében az egykori Pebble 2 egy leporolt, kicsit felújított változata, míg a Core Time 2 a Pebble Time 2 újkori verziója.

Mindkét óra esetében közös vonás az IPX8-as műanyag készülékház, a PebbleOS, a lépésszámláló és alváskövető funkciók, valamint a 22 mm-es sztenderd óraszíj használata, valamint az előd-gyártó védjegyének számító e-ink kijelzőtechnológia használata. A Core 2 Duo egy 1,26 colos fekete-fehér panelt kapott, míg a Core Time 2 egy 64 szín megjelenítésére képes, 1,5 colos képernyővel. valamint egy pulzusmérő szenzorral is büszkélkedhet.

Az előrendelési lehetőség már mindkét okosórára él, A Core 2 Duo 149, a Core Time 2 pedig 225 dollárnak megfelelő összegért lehet a miénk, előbbit júliusban, a színes kijelzős modellt pedig elvileg idén decemberben kapják meg azok, akik befizetnek a visszatérő Pebble órák első hullámára.

So torn between a Galaxy Tab and a Note Air 3C E-Ink for my collete notes. I always do better by hand with my notes, but paper will get messy fast.

My current debate is that the Air 3C is more single-purpose (distraction prevention), paper textured, and gentle on the eyes, plus it runs Android so I can still use Notion and whatnot on it. However, it runs a lower framerate and I can't draw on it.

The Galaxy Tab is more versatile, I can use it as a secondary monitor, to watch class videos, and install my Clip Studio app on it to get back into drawing. I can also dumb it down pretty easily and turn on the nightlight to help the screen. But I'm worried that the texture and rigidness might throw me off (the Air 3C has a little bit of give to it, just like paper,) and that it's just more complicated overall.

I'm actually screwed I have to make my mind up this week LOL. I would stick to paper if it weren't for the fact that it'll get disorganized in less than a week. ��
