Hi! I actually have two (vaguely related) questions.

So, I'm perisex, with a vagina, and I was wondering how common it was for other people like me to orgasm from sex dreams. I know that it happens to a lot of people with penises, especially in puberty, but it happens to me too, and I was curious how common that was. The first time it happened I was pretty baffled, because that wasn't something I was expecting to be able to happen to me?

And second question: when I do orgasm from sex dreams, I always wake up pretty nauseous, with an almost cramp like feeling in my abdomen. Well, there's actually not a lot of study on sleep orgasms!

A couple studies have shown it's less common for people with vaginas to orgasm during sex dreams, which is theorized to be because its usually harder for them to get the stimulation they need to orgasm during sleep but its also more common for people with vaginas to lack the knowledge of what an orgasm for them would look like and there's really not a lot of actual in-depth science studies on all this.

It's very much possible, though. And it's generally a good way for your body to relieve stress while you're sleeping!

As for the cramping you're talking about, I believe that's called dysorgasmia! It can be caused by quite a few things, like pelvic floor issues, endometriosis, or even mental health issues and there are methods to manage it!

Physical therapy, testing for underlying conditions and treating them, even taking pain killers before sex to prevent it from bothering you a lot. Your doctor just sounds like an unhelpful dick, especially considering issues like this are literally their job to help with.

Unfortunately, there's also not a lot of information on dysorgasmia, despite it being more common than you'd think. But there are ways to help manage it and I'd look into them, maybe consider trying a different gyno if you can.
