one thing that’s disappointing about once upon a time is that I ship swan queen but I still fucking LOVE killian, and there’s no one else to ship him with. I need a homoerotic mlm killian jones ship to latch onto and the writers didn’t do it because in the age of superwholock and sterek they knew it would be too powerful

jealous ewan headcanon idea: how about matt and reader sitting down to have lunch together and ewan is fuming in the corner and then he tried to butt in by dragging his chair into the table and started trying to insert himself in the conversation? just a thought. 🥰
Love this! Got my mind racing, so read more below. A little something for my chem ov readers - I hope this finds you and I hope that Ewan drives you mad 😉💙
Tumblr media
After the table read in part seven...
The cast and crew help themselves to catering after successfully accomplishing the table read. The adjacent meeting hall is decked out with various offerings, and everyone is scattered across several tables.
You've just gotten a plate of your food, Matt in tow, and the two of you settle down at one of the small circular corner tables that happened to have only two seats.
"Anything planned for the weekend?" you ask him.
"Why, love?" he asks, smirking. "Do you have something in mind?"
You have to bite the inside of your cheek to keep from smiling due to his blatant charm. You know you've been doing it too much.
"Well, I wanted to invite some of you over for drinks on Saturday night, and Emma and Liv will be busy going out of town, Phia has a date with her boyfriend, Bethany's got an audition, and I still have to ask the others really -
" - I'm in, why not?" he says.
"Oh!" you don't hold back your smile then. "That's great! I think Fabs might come, too, but only for a while since he promised Bella -
"What about Ewan?"
"What about me?" Ewan retorts suddenly, making his presence known. Unbeknownst to you and Matt, he had dragged another chair across the carpet, in order to join your table.
He twirls the chair in place in one hand, and plops down on it. He is positioned somewhat in the middle of yourself and Matt, but he is angled closer to you, laying a hand on the back of your seat. He sips his can of Coke for a second, then he repeats, "What's going on?"
"Oh, mate, just - " Matt starts to explain.
"It's nothing," you find yourself cutting him off, growing pissed off by the way Ewan just inserted himself in the conversation. His tone doesn't leave much to be desired, either. You add, "We were just talking about the script. You did well, and we're just happy for Aemond and where his story is going."
Matt is confused as to why you don't just invite Ewan as well, but he notices the tense air between the two of you and the way your shoulders stiffened at his proximity. He decides to let it go.
"Though of course, your scenes are just excellent this season, aren't they?" Matt points to you. "Especially the ones with Daemon."
Ewan has to bite the inside of his cheek to keep from cursing, due to Matt's apparent audacity to flirt with his girl.
"Mhmm," you smile, "I do get some good ones. I must say I really liked - "
Ewan interjects, "Alyna did have two scenes with Aemond towards the end. And even in those, she's got a more charged dynamic than what she has with Daemon."
"Alyna and Aemond?" Matt scoffs. "Come on, mate. She wouldn't fraternise with the enemy!"
Ewan shakes his head, "I wouldn't say no, I mean, what she and Aemond have is something... chemical, you know? Riveting. The tension is electrifying, so to speak. Whereas with Daemon, it's more tame and... familial."
"Uhhh - " you open your mouth to say something, but nothing comes out. You mull his words over, and you know he's right.
But Matt counters with, "Is that so? Well, you know what they say about Targaryens. They like to keep it in the family. So there's nothing wrong with Daemon and Alyna acting familial, if you know what I mean." He laughs dryly, before throwing you a cheeky wink.
You respond in kind, snorting at his humour while shaking your head fondly.
"Mmm." Ewan simply hums, before taking a long, slow sip of his drink.
He thinks of The Battle Above The Gods Eye, and how it will be such an insane and challenging scene.
Daemon against Aemond?
He can't wait.

Abreu
A respected food critic, Maria’s opinion is highly valued by all as the towns’ baked good connoisseur. Her husband Joaquin, a renowned pianist, is no exception; he worships the ground she walks on. Together, they project their creative outlooks onto their sons. Santiago, the eldest and a romantic, has the full support of his parents and wants to become a professional wedding photographer. Even though young Rémy feels he didn’t inherit his parents’ imagination, he still wants to make them proud.
Tumblr media
Monaghan
As young parents, Stefan and Marianne sacrificed a lot. Stefan became a cop to support his family, but still gets caught up trying to relive his youth. Marianne longs for the day that she can quit her job at the local diner and become a singer. Both are worried that their burnout of a son Zack sets a bad example for the other boys. Soren just wants to play videogames all day while Tatum and Aria constantly argue. Meanwhile, poor attention seeking Hunter is at risk of falling through the cracks.
Tumblr media
Larson
Quite the jazz singer in his day, Clive is desperate to find ways to stay relevant in the ever-changing music scene. Fiona, longing for the authentic soul who serenaded her years ago, knows she can inspire him again; she’s stood by him through a lot. But until then, you can find the melancholy art critic drinking to yesteryear at the bar. Jade dropped out of college to pursue a career in social media (much to Fiona’s discontent) while Candice is following the artistic path her parents paved.
Tumblr media
Hollifield
As a teen, Whitney’s future looked bright. But she forfeited a lot of opportunities to pursue a whirlwind romance with a boy who had a dangerous edge. They were happy for a time, but it didn’t last and the only thing she kept from that relationship was her daughter Emma. She now works a lowly job in fast food while taking classes at Britechester, hoping to find a career in social media. Her days are busier as a working single mom, but Emma keeps herself entertained by befriending her neighbors.
Tumblr media
Catton
Following the loss of her son to avoidable circumstances, Dottie found herself in the care of his two children. Filled with regret for not doing more for her son, the college professor watches the kids like a hawk! She’s keen on using her connections to better their lives. Temperamental Owen does well to make her proud with his grades, but he has an artsy side that he only shares with those closest to him. His little sister Bonnie would rather spend time making friends than studying though.
Tumblr media
Qian
After founding a groundbreaking app, Shirong found a place among the company of the rich and powerful. His charming wife Meifing, quite the schmoozer at elite parties, is constantly looking for funding for her next big venture (while also being the go-to-girl for all the neighborhood gossip). Nuo chose to move home after grad school to save money, but is ready to leave and start her own law firm. Her younger brother Haoyu adds to her restlessness by barraging her with his antics.
Tumblr media
Sullivan
Atticus’ dad Clifford, a retired veteran, supported his sons’ musical dreams fully, having raised him alone after his wife died. While roaming the world, Atticus met Elisa; a fashion guru with a fiery disposition. The pair had three children and Clifford moved in to help with the newborn. Like her dad, Lydia also wants to be an artist (whether if it’s for her love for acting or a desire to be in the spotlight remains to be seen) while Malicia, afraid of being unseen, finds relief in her friends.
Tumblr media
Kingsley-Ramirez
Jaime and Paxton met/moved in together before they could actually get to know each other, both having been new to the city at the time with zero connections. They found themselves compatible not only as roommates, but eventually boyfriends as well! Jaime always puts others before himself; it shows in the passion he has for social justice causes he advocates for. Meanwhile, Pax works a parttime job at a small coffee shop, but is intent on putting himself through school to become a veterinarian.
Tumblr media
Tanaka-Murdock
Nigel and Shannon met at Foxbury and developed feelings for each other during study sessions. Though Nigel was the only one to graduate, he admires Shannon for making the decision that was right for her. He enjoys being the breadwinner while Shannon follows her artistic instincts, though he wishes he had his wife’s free spirit. Shannon is quite hard on herself and works tirelessly until she makes something she’s proud of while their son Kason, while a quick learner, really just wants to play.

just watched a video of Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki answering questions during their panel with Jared’s son constantly calling him from backstage and it was just so cute. I need a Matt version because it would honestly melt my heart 🫠
Six times Max crashed Matt’s interview
Matt Smith x reader
Fluff
Tumblr media
1. The Goat Plushie Cameo
Matt was midway through a charming interview, talking about his experiences on House of the Dragon, when Max’s tiny voice cut through the background noise.
“Daddy!”
The camera slightly shook as a toddler burst onto the set, clutching his beloved goat plushie. Max toddled over to Matt and climbed straight into his lap as if this were completely normal.
“Max, mate, I’m working,” Matt said, holding back a laugh.
Max, unfazed, held up his plushie. “Goaty wants to say hi!”
The interviewer melted on the spot. “Is this Goaty?”
Matt nodded, lifting the toy for the camera. “This is Goaty. He’s been through everything. Adventures, naps, and apparently interviews now.”
Max grinned. “Goaty likes dragons.”
“Well, lucky for Goaty, I’m a Targaryen,” Matt joked, giving Max’s hair a playful ruffle before turning back to the interviewer. “Sorry, this happens a lot.”
Max sat on Matt’s lap for the rest of the interview, nodding along as if he understood every word.
2. Max’s Cookie Break with Olivia Cooke
Matt and Olivia Cooke were sitting side by side on a talk show, bantering about their characters’ complicated dynamics when Max decided to crash.
He wandered onstage with a half-eaten cookie in hand and crumbs trailing behind him. “Daddy, you said you were gonna get me milk!”
The audience burst into laughter as Matt sighed dramatically. “Max, we talked about this. Daddy’s working!”
“But I’m thirsty!” Max whined, climbing onto his dad’s lap and smearing crumbs everywhere.
Olivia couldn’t stop laughing. “You’re raising a food critic, Matt.”
“Apparently,” Matt muttered, brushing crumbs off his trousers. “Alright, mate, I’ll get you milk in a bit, okay?”
Max wasn’t satisfied. He turned to Olivia. “Aunt Liv, do you have milk?”
She grinned, leaning down to his level. “No milk, but I’ve got jokes. Want to hear one?”
Max nodded, temporarily distracted as Olivia entertained him while Matt shook his head fondly.
3. The “Where’s Goaty?” Crisis
Matt, Fabien Frankel, and Emma D’Arcy were gathered for a YouTube Q&A session when Max’s panicked cry came from the side.
“Daddy! I lost Goaty!”
Matt froze mid-sentence, turning toward the sound. “Oh no, not Goaty again.”
Fabien, trying to keep a straight face, leaned into the mic. “This sounds like a serious emergency.”
“It is a serious emergency,” Matt replied, already standing up. “Hang on, let me solve this.”
He walked off-camera briefly and returned moments later with Max in one arm and Goaty in the other. “Crisis averted,” he announced dramatically, handing the plushie back to Max.
Max, beaming, waved at the cast. “Thank you, daddy! Uncle Fabs!” he screeched and stretched his hands towards Fabien.
Fabien chuckled. “C’mere buddy.”
4. Max’s “Dragon Drawing” Surprise for Emma
During a sit-down interview with Emma D’Arcy, Max marched onto the set holding a piece of paper covered in colorful scribbles.
“Daddy! Emmy! Look what I made!”
Matt sighed but smiled, patting his lap. “Alright, mate, show us.”
Max climbed up and proudly held out his drawing. “It’s a dragon!”
Emma gasped theatrically, taking the paper. “Max, this is amazing. Is this my dragon?”
Max nodded excitedly. “Sylwax breathes fire!”
Matt leaned over to inspect the drawing. “Looks like Syrax has been hitting the gym too. Look at those muscles.”
The audience roared with laughter as Emma held up the picture. “This is going on my fridge, Max.”
“Really?” Max asked, eyes wide.
“Absolutely,” Emma said seriously. “Best dragon I’ve ever seen.”
5. Max’s Weather Update
Matt was halfway through a funny story about filming in heavy costumes when Max wandered into the room, his toddler stance now visible in the back of Matt’s computer screen.
“Daddy, it’s raining!” he announced, pointing toward the windows.
The host laughed, leaning toward slightly. “Is it raining in London, Max? What do you think we should do about that?”
Max considered for a moment. “Stay inside.”
Matt groaned, pulling Max onto his lap. “Brilliant advice, Max. Thank you for the update.”
The host grinned. “Max, do you think your dad likes working in the rain?”
Max shook his head. “No. He gets grumpy.”
Matt buried his face in his hands. “Thrown under the bus by my own kid. Cheers, mate.”
6. Max Hosts His Own Interview
During a live-streamed red carpet interview, Matt was answering questions when Max suddenly appeared at his side, holding a tiny microphone toy.
“I’m the inteviwee now!” Max declared confidently, shoving the toy mic toward Matt’s face.
The actual interviewer stepped back, laughing. “Alright, Max, take it away.”
Max squinted at his dad. “Daddy, do you like dragons?”
Matt bit back a grin. “I do, Max. Do you?”
Max nodded seriously. “But they’re scary. What’s your favorite dragon?”
Matt played along. “What kind of questions have you prepared dude? Caraxes, obviously. Big and powerful.”
Max leaned into the toy mic dramatically. “I like baby dragons better.”
Matt chuckled, scooping him up. “Fair enough, mate. You’re a tough interviewer.”
The real interviewer chimed in. “Max, do you think your dad is a good actor?”
Max tilted his head, pretending to think. “Sometimes.”
Matt groaned. “That’s my cue to retire.”

I've been trying to peer pressure my bff into watching Much Ado About Nothing with me (my fave Shakespeare comedy), and he wanted to have everything in our house set up first etc etc. But he agreed to watch it yesterday and we had a lot of fun absolutely cackling at, well, almost everything.
I do think it's one of the most purely funny Shakespeare plays that are still really good, especially when performed/directed well. We were watching the Joss Whedon version—yes, I know, but I bought it back when it came out and it's still my favoriteand Nathan Fillion's Dogberry is an utter delight, and honestly there are a bunch of script and directorial choices that make it my favorite.
I particularly like Amy Acker's Beatrice: she can be charmingly witty, vulnerable and hurt, sweet and supportive, an adorable dweeb, and ferocious and hard as nails. The way her face changes in the grand romantic scene with Benedick is fantastic—there's this moment where you just see her features harden before she says "Kill Claudio" that I love. I also really loved how often she's visually framed with Hero in the later part of the story: sometimes literally holding her but often visually paired with her in a way that highlights her priorities.
Benedick is pretty good in this version, as well—not as impressive as Acker or Fillion, I'd say, but I like how Benedick initially seems to be a rather callous asshole only for him to be gradually revealed as the most profoundly decent man in the play—not that the competition is steep, but still—especially with regard to women, and how he's, well, also an adorable dweeb until it really matters, at which point he turns deadly serious. And I really like their dynamic once the story gets rolling.
I also love that it doesn't back away from how shitty Claudio is while keeping to the text of the play. He and Don Pedro seem the gentler, sweeter, more romantic characters early on, but the text itself becomes an indictment of them (and Leonato!). My best friend, who hasn't read this/seen another version of it in years, was just like "She's not wrong!" when Beatrice told Benedick to kill Claudio, and shouted "STAB HIM!!!" when Benedick confronts him :D
I really like the performance of Leonato, as well—the way this thus-far affectionate, mild seeming patriarch becomes the most proximate threat to Hero (it really feels like he might snap her neck at any moment) and only seems able to conceive of Hero as a potential victim when told so by other men is terrifying. And Hero herself has a sweetness and dignity but also charm that I enjoy in a character who can be a bit limp in performance.
I do prefer Keanu's Don John though, for peak unpopular opinions.
Of course, I was also reminded of my Pride and Prejudice is to Much Ado as Clueless is to Emma theory, haha. The Much Ado elements are thoroughly overhauled, rearranged, and modernized in plenty of ways, but I think P&P still draws a lot of raw material from it. And I think it's interesting to look at not just Elizabeth and Darcy as Beatrice and Benedick(/Don Pedro, since Darcy combines elements of both), but things like how Austen works to recuperate Claudio in Bingley (not altogether successfully IMO honestly, but a valiant effort that works well enough) and displaces the worst elements of his character onto Wickham. It's not the only influence but it's very striking.
(This is not an original observation, lol; the first time the comparison was made in print afaik was in a March 1813 review of P&P, which had only been published a few weeks earlier at the end of January.)

━。゜✿ jily fic recommendations ✿ ゜。━
This post is just some of my current favourites because I don’t think I have the energy to make a master list right now. Personally, I like to read aus so if you're looking for canon stuff this isn't the post for you.
For reference, anything in italics is taken from the summaries on ao3.
Tumblr media
in pursuit of the study of magic by @thequibblah
An immortal magician au or, "we had a really bad breakup three hundred years ago, but neither of us realised the other is immortal until we met today"
I recommend you listen to About You while reading this
Growing (in love) by casablancas21 (on ao3)
Uni au where "James Potter has a lot going on for him. His uni years have been the best he's ever had and his friendliness, popularity and charm go a long way to place him as the go-to bloke if one's looking for a good time. Nevertheless, his final year of school finds him struggling to keep up with the social energy that once enthralled him. He's having a hard time figuring out how to set his own boundaries and what to do about his future. He's also having a really hard time figuring out Lily Evans."
I must admit that Lily's comebacks are so good I've used some during class debates in sociology this year. Truly, the dialogue and dynamics between characters in this fic are so good. Pretty sure this is the one with the kebab
Golden Waltz by evanspotter (on ao3)
Lily Evans wants to be the best ice dancer in the world, which means she needs to find a dance partner ASAP. After two failed partnerships, her coach gives her one last option: James Potter.
This fic is the reason I neglected revising for midterms. It also caused me to go into a deep dive into watching tapes of Olympic ice dance programs specifically Virtue and Moir.
on the way home by keep_driving (on ao3)
Lily was living abroad and pinning from afar. After an abundance of "phone calls, mixtapes, and long waits," Lily is finally coming home. I believe this fic is inspired by the song You Are In Love.
When I say jily is friends first, and lovers second this is what I mean
Dancing With Our Hands Tied by @athenasparrow
But despite his best efforts, he couldn’t take his eyes off her figure as she moved effortlessly in rhythm with whatever song she had playing. He learned she was wearing more than a t-shirt when she slid across the kitchen on her socks, throwing her head back to sing words James wished he could hear.
OR: In a world where social distancing reigns supreme, two strangers find themselves confined to their apartments with love only a window away.
The way I binged this fic at school between classes. love love love
The Season by @missgryffin
This is a regency (Brighton) au where "James Potter, Duke of Peverell, has returned to London just in time for the season, where Miss Lily Evans is about to make her debut. Only, he’s not looking for a wife, and she’s not particularly interested in a husband."
I love the dialogue between Lily & James as well as Sirius & Lily's relationship (for those who know Brigerton, it reminds me of Ben and El's relationship).
A Misstep Of Fate by hogwartslivy (on ao3)
A muggle historical au where "he waited for her on the edge of ballrooms and in the shadows of parties. He waited to dance with her, to spin her in his arms, to be the one she laughed and smiled with. He thought he was doing the right thing, allowing time to pass them until they were ready, so he had waited. But it seems, he made a misstep. He's waited too long now she's slipping through his fingers."
My boy is stupid and in love but it's okay because she is too. Their idiots, but they’re my idiots
Let Me Love You by @thejilyship
A Princess Diaries au in which "with only a month until she's set to take the throne of Gryffindor, Lily is informed that she'll have to get married or choose to give up her throne. She never thought she'd have to even entertain the idea of an arranged marriage. Enter, James Potter."
chaos ensues and Emma deserves long service leave (the place would fall apart)
foreigner's god by clarewithnoi (on ao3)
answer to a Tumblr prompt: "we were lovers in a past life" but the current incarnations are enemies-to-lovers, and they don't remember anything from their past selves.
The back and forth between them is so good. low-key I teared up a bit but it has a HEA
An October of Unconventional Courtships by @ghostofbambifanfiction
Two phones. Thirty-one days. Eighteen tuxedos. A Jilytober texting fic.
A classic that everyone should read
Shelf Awareness also by @/ghostofbambifanfiction
Modern bookstore au where "It's too far out of her way and she's wasting so much money, but Lily can't help but return to the bookstore every weekend, where her passion for good literature has, perhaps, been unexpectedly reignited by the messy-haired, pun-making, rather handsome bloke who works there."
One of the first ever jily fics that I read and I fell in love with their dynamic straight away
Careless Texter also by @/ghostofbambifanfiction
Answer to the prompt, “I left my phone number on the bathroom stall wall and you text me about your day and your frustrations for a month & it’s really nice and cute but I still don’t know who you are,” with some twists and differences.
Trackside by @hogwartslivy
James Potter is Formula One’s most impressive young talent, making up one half of the championship winning team at Gryffindor Racing. He’s got a reputation for playing dirty on, and seemingly off, the track but when an article quoting a particularly vulgar comment made by him at last years final Grand Prix is released, it seems he may have pushed it too far. Potter faces two options; fix his public image or give up his seat.
When my two obsessions meet
it's (always) you by @kay-elle-cee
A multiverse of 31 meet-cutes for Jilytober 2023.
Honorable mentions to chapter 3 for high!Lily and chapter 7 for fulling my love for jily regency aus
Key Limes by cgner (on ao3)
Fame au "in which Academy Award winner Lily Evans discovers the periphery of internet fandom and the mysteries of Prince James’s gold star system."
Because James is actually just a giant build a bear and lily is an icon as always.
See You At the Next Stop by kayrma (on ao3)
Lily Evans meets a posh-looking bloke with messy hair on the way back to London, and for once in her life she actually enjoys a train ride. Maybe having a spontaneous seat partner isn't that bad after all.
Shoutout to the notes on this fic because whoever wrote it is a mood
Nom De Plume by @annabtg
James Potter, renowned potioneer, has a secret side career as an erotica writer under the pen name of Scarlett Goldwing. When his latest book starts to take off, and Scarlett is asked to promote it at a public event, he has no other option but to recruit his colleague Lily Evans to pretend to be Scarlett. The only problem is, Lily Evans hates his guts… or does she?
(Rated E for later chapters)
Like did you read that summery because personally I was waiting for the author to complete the story so I could binge it
victorem (requires an ao3 account ) by gryffindormischief (on ao3)
(Olympic) Ice dancing au. "When God closes a door, sometimes you have to jump out a window."
Lily and James (and Sirius) aka the dynamic duo
Phone Service by @confuded-gryffindor
Moddern muggel au "in which James and Lily meet twice, both through their phones."
some with arrows, some with traps by @isahorcrux
Fame au. "Then: James Potter was a beloved child star and the lead of a popular YA franchise. Lily Evans was just getting her big break as his romantic lead in the third installment. While their chemistry got rave reviews, if the rumors are to be believed the two actors can barely stand to be in the same room together.
Now: Lily’s paid her dues and ten years later she’s the most in-demand actress in Hollywood. And James...after back-to-back flops at the box office, he’s just looking for a break and a chance to prove he is the amazing actor everyone thought he was going to be."
Much Ado About Nothing, but make it Jily
The group chat is the level of chaos me and my friends extrude every free line we spend together
Charred Pineaple Margarita's and a Bagel by @chiechie97
The guy at the coffee shop was hot. Hot and he knew her order. But that didn’t mean ANYTHING. Especially when he seemed to know everyone’s order. And besides, Lily is far too busy to be thinking about the hot guy that always has her breakfast waiting for her. Right?
Lily and Remus are me
and i know you too well to say you're perfect by @ofmermaidsandmarauders
“Yeah, you were a pretty big moron.” “Hey, I said idiot!”
Lily's not really sure when James Potter, soccer extraordinaire, took over her life with Harry.
What the summery said
The next few fics are all by @wearingaberetinparis or ritaskeetered (on ao3) who is the reason I joined the jily fandom. Single handedly enabled my obsession and I've never been more thankfull.
The Very Regency (Un)Ladylike Guide To Fortune-Hunting
Regency au. "Without thinking highly either of men or matrimony, marriage had always been her object; it was the only honourable provision for well-educated young women of small fortune, and however uncertain of giving happiness, must be their pleasantest preservative from want." (Jane Austen)
Lily Evans finds herself wanting, or: so her sister seems to believe. While out on the hunt for a fortune - again: that would be Mrs Dursley mostly - the affection of a number of suitors is most welcome. Especially when a young Viscount's heart is set aflame.
Screaming, crying, punch me in the face (Lily's version)
Jump (For My Love)
Royalty au "When you are the Prince of England, the last thing one might expect is to be jumped from behind by the most beautiful woman one has ever seen, who - in turn - seems to have no clue at all and mistakes one for someone else. Surely, Prince James has the right to be disproportionately upset about this. The question is; does he need to?"
Baby, It's Cold Outside
Olympic au. James, being half Greek, had always dreamed of one day going to the Olympics. Now, at his second Winter Olympics – having won a surprising bronze medal at his first one – James has been dubbed Team GB’s hero before the games have even started.
Lily, being the daughter of a waste collector, had always dreamed of one day making her parents proud by exceeding their expectations. Now, she finds herself on a plane to China together with her boss, Minerva McGonagall, and a crowd of winter athletes representing Team GB at the Winter Olympics of 2022.
The paths of James Potter – overenthusiastic snowboarding hero – and Lily Evans – passionate overachiever – cross at the 2022 Winter Olympics when James Potter is asked to be Team GB’s flagbearer at the Opening Ceremony (and quite a few times after that as well).
The repetition of "James, being half Greek..." worked so well for the flow. I don't know how to describe it
A Game Of Thrones
Modern royalty au. Lily Evans had never imagined she would meet Prince James, but when she does at St Andrews' annual Christmas Pub Crawl, her whole world is turned upside down. For who thought that a girl like her - with a sister that reads "Hello" magazine like it's the Bible - would end up with a prince like him?
Euphemia Potter you will always be famous
flowers
A musician au that hilights sexisim in the music industry. "Singer-songwriter Lily Evans has played gig after gig, has been the opening act to many a headliner, but her big break seems a million miles away. When one night – after playing in her friend Marlene McKinnon’s bar – she receives messily scrawled lyrics on a napkin by a certain Monty Python, her life and career are turned upside down, leading her all the way to the Grammy's."
Lily my love, you deserve everything you've worked for
If You Knew Who Was Talking
hopelessly_devoted and genuinely-conflicted form each other’s support system online, cheering one another on as they battle their way through an unrequited (and most definitely unwanted) crush on the person their parents are trying to set them up with.
In the real world, James Potter and Lily Evans find themselves hopelessly devoted and genuinely conflicted when battling their persistent infatuation with the last person they would have ever liked to fall for, stubbornly fighting their family’s and friends’ convictions that they were born to be together.
If only they knew who was talking.
FOOLS the both of them.
glitter in the sky, i’m spinning out waiting for ya
For her thirtieth birthday, Marlene McKinnon and Mary McDonald gift Lily Evans the thrill of a lifetime: a tandem skydive. What no one expected? For Lily to end up in the hospital as a result with her ankle covered in soul marks.
everybody is a sexy baby, and i'm a monster on a hill
Ficwriter au. "James Potter and Lily Evans are fandom famous. Both are prolific and popular writers within the Marauders fandom, but they have completely ignored the other's existence for two years after a Tumblr misunderstanding. Now, they are paired up for the Valentine's Marauders Challenge and - forced to interact - they find out that they may be more compatible than they ever could have imagined."
Is this not the dream?
fastening myself to you with a stitch
Fame au. "Anyone who has never heard the names Lily Evans and James Potter before must be a boomer. The two actors have dominated the box office with their films in the past nine years, more often than not starring opposite one another. Whether tasked to portray mutual pining, passionate hatred or fiery love, Potter and Evans make the screen positively buzz with the taste of opportunity."

Normal People (Sally Roony) au. "At school, James and Lily pretend not to know each other. James is wealthy, popular and the star of his school’s football team, while Lily wears second-hand school uniforms, is the school pariah and resented for her smarts. At James’ house, however – meeting there due to Lily’s mother’s housekeeping job – they form an intense connection they desperately try to conceal to the outside world.
A year later, James and Lily both attend Hogwarts University where James has found his feet and made friends he had longed for his entire life, while Lily remains uncertain and haunted by her problematic past.
Throughout their years at university, James and Lily circle each other, trying to resist the magnetic pull between them, whilst coming to the realisation that the both of them may be more religious than they ever thought they were."
Mother knows best. Mary, never question your writing skills because this fic proved that you are a phenomenal writer. The emotions you evoked coverered the entire range of human emotions
It's Coming Down, It's Coming Down Series -
Weird, But Fuckin' Beautiful
When Lily Evans is invited to spend Christmas with the Potters, she finds that she can simply not refuse. It’s an offer she cannot resist for several reasons, the most important one being that she would much rather spend the holidays with Fleamont and Euphemia than she would with Vernon and Petunia.
So what if she had conveniently forgotten (or has she?) about the fact that the Potters have a son - a Formula 1 driver at that - who she can’t seem to get off her mind? (Mightily annoying that, seeing as he has made clear exactly how he feels about her and it’s not exactly giving her any hope.) It’s not as if she can’t control herself.
Or so she very dearly hopes…
Tonight Feels Impossible
But after a night spent together in a hotel's honeymoon suite, she doubts she ever will and fears it might be her downfall.
To All The Kudos I've Left Before
Ficwriter au set in university. "Fanfiction is the guiltiest of pleasures that Lily - twenty years old and studying at Hogwarts University - freely and happily indulges in. She reads fanfiction whenever she has a moment to herself and goes crazy whenever her favourite author - Artemis - updates or uploads another one of his works to Archive Of Our Own. Leaving them comments and the ensuing banter between them back and forth - however fleeting - makes her heart race and preoccupies a fair amount of her thoughts, which - in turn - angers her best friend.
James Potter has never had to suffer from an inferiority complex. His parents and friends are supportive of his every endeavour and this includes his habit to write fanfiction and put his written work out there in the void for his readers to enjoy. His readers are highly supportive too - Lilium being his absolute favourite - that is, until he starts to receive the vilest of comments from a number of guest accounts and starts to question his entire online existence.
What Artemis and Lilium don’t know? That they might know each other a little better than either of them ever bargained for."
The title says it all ❤ ❤❤

okay im already so in love with rosa like, i feel truly connected to her! I’d love to read more about her dynamic with her obx fam and her character, filming memories, and like… does she have a little crush on drew starkey?
𝓻oro's note. oh I’m so happy to hear that !! rosa is so dear to me <3
Tumblr media
rosa has a great relationship with the whole cast !! since she is one of the youngest people on the cast she is a little babied by the rest of the cast, teasingly and affectionately. she is talked about very fondly by everyone and she’s definitely a mood maker, her sweet and funny personality makes everyone feel better !!
there are a lot of times where people have called her their battery, that they can go to her whenever they are tired and that she’s always there to cheer them up! a lot of pictures and videos of her cast mates clinging to her in behind the scenes
I’d say she is definitely the closest to Jonathan, Madelyn and Drew !! but like I said she has a great relationship with everyone !! She has said that she has 3 people she loves filming scenes with the most, Drew and Nick (barry’s actor) and of course her bestie Jonathan !!
her character is Emma Routledge and she is the twin sister of John b, technically his younger sister since he’s older! her character is known as the ‘pogue princess’ and she’s a very charming person, having connections with a lot of people, is known to be a smooth talker and can get out of tricky situations, her character is the closest with pope!! and has a kinda friendship with Barry in the beginning? she doesn’t have a love interest, but most of the obx fans ship her with rafe because they always have so much tension between each other and she’s the only pogue he has a ‘soft spot’ for!!
honestly rosa had a small crush on drew, and that’s mostly because her character Emma has a crush on rafe, but things between her and drew are strictly platonic!! They have a very close friendship and are always doing interviews and pr together !!

Rewatching OUAT and something that reallllly bothers me about the Charmings (particularly Snow) is how little they believe in Emma. They don't believe in her magical ability, they were all for her getting rid of it, they did something really atrocious to "secure" her goodness rather than just trusting her to make the right choices and they didn't believe she was capable of fighting the Dark One magic. They see the best in absolutely everyone except their own daughter. And maybe you could argue that they are harder on her because she is their daughter but all Emma is going to hear is that she isn't good enough. So much of their behaviour towards Emma after the first curse broke pisses me off tbh.
You know, it's been a minute since I thought about any of this but yes, of the things I wish had been done differently in the show, the way the Charming Family progressed is the biggest one.
The drama inherent in their situation was a writer's dream. How do these two parents, who sent away a minutes-old baby and had an emotionally damaged, grown woman returned to them, reconcile all they missed? How does an emotionally damaged, grown woman learn to let her walls down and accept love from the parents she always wanted but spent her entire life believing they didn't want her? And all of that was kind of brushed aside and only touched on in fits and starts. I found it maddening, which I think is why I wrote so much Charming-Family-bonding fic. Because I wrote what I wanted to see but didn't really get to see to my satisfaction.
In any other situation, their hesitance to believe in her and her abilities could just be seen as the skeptic vs believer dynamic seen so frequently in TV shows. (For instance, I'm rewatching Medium and at least once an episode, someone pushes back against Allison's visions even though at this point everyone knows she's psychic -- it's just easy drama for the characters to have that particular disagreement.)
But with Emma's specific backstory, her parents pushing back against her decisions hits different, as the kids say. She spent 28 years with no one to believe in her so seeing her parents continue that cycle, however unintentionally, hurts.
Truthfully, I think Charming did better than Snow in relating to Emma as a grown adult. (Even though I was a bit angry with him when he was advocating for Emma to give up her magic if that was what she wanted. He should have known her enough to know that this was not a decision she was making with careful thought and consideration. She was scared and panicked and just wanted it to be over.) My headcanon for this is because Charming always knew the next time he would see Emma was when she was a grown woman. His going with Emma was never a consideration. Snow, on the other hand, was supposed to go with her. She only had those few minutes between letting her go and the curse descending to come to terms with missing the first 28 years of her life while Charming had whatever time there was between the plan to send Emma away coming together and the curse descending.
As such, I feel like Snow wanted to mommy Emma when Emma was well beyond being mommied. Charming, on the other hand, seemed to be able to give her gentle fatherly advice in a way that Emma would listen to him while not being overbearing in the way that Snow could sometimes be. And what frustrated me with Snow is that somewhere inside her, she did know how to relate to Emma because she managed quite well as Mary Margeret. It was almost like she couldn't get "I'm her mommy and I missed it all" out of her head.
So yeah, this is a very long-winded way of saying I completely agree with you, haha. Thanks for the opportunity to wax poetic about this again; I've missed it!

Lady Nesrin /ˈnɛs.rɪn/ Parovus /pæˈroʊvəs/
Meet Nesrin, the enigmatic jewel of courtly intrigue in the Eight Kingdoms. Behind her charming smile and the gentle melodies of her harp, lies a shrewd strategist, always three moves ahead in the intricate game of court politics.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For her face claim it's a mix between Emma Watson, Lilly Collins and maybe Anya-Taylor-Joy, now for the voice I would say Jessica Brown Findlay (the voice of Lenore in Castlevania)
Main Family Dynamics:
Duke Javaid's Expectations (Father):
Duke Javaid, the family patriarch, holds a firm grip on family affairs and expects unwavering obedience and service from his children. While supportive, his expectations also create a stifling atmosphere, especially for Nesrin who navigates the delicate balance between duty and love.
Duchess Sarnei's Priorities (Mother):
Duchess Sarnei is focused on maintaining her beauty and status within the court. She holds a keen interest in fashion and gossip, involving herself in the intricacies of courtly life, which influences Nesrin's awareness of social dynamics.
Seline's Scandal:
Seline, Nesrin's elder sister, is away from court due to a scandal that stained the family's reputation. Unmarried and seemingly without prospects, Seline secretly has a child from a forbidden affair with a commoner, straining her relationship with Nesrin.
Gennaddy's Charisma:
Gennady, Nesrin's younger brother, is a charming and courteous knight who enjoys the attention of many ladies. Confident in the family's status, revels in the admiration he receives, supporting and challenging Nesrin's approach to courtly life.
Some details about her:
Memorable Quote: "I learned at a young age that sometimes, the most effective way to get what you want is to let others think it was their idea."
She indulges in the guilty pleasure of reading romance novels but dismisses them as frivolous in public.
Occasionally orchestrates situations where she allows herself to be seemingly manipulated, only to unveil a grander scheme.
Her skill with the harp is as enchanting as her political manoeuvrers, her melodies weaving tales of beauty and intrigue that captivate those who have the privilege of listening.
She thrives on challenges, evident in her deliberate attempts to out-dress Odette, turning every encounter into a subtle competition.
keeps a dried flower pressed between the pages of her favourite book, a memento from the first bouquet someone dear to her gave her.
Her Silkshroud Feline (Persian cat), Aziza, is her loyal companion during strolls through the family gardens. Aziza wears small jewelled collars that match Nesrin's accessories.
Practices the harp at night, finding inspiration in the quiet hours. The haunting melodies she creates in the moonlit solitude serve as a therapeutic release for her inner conflicts.
Her sister scandal casts a shadow over Nesrin's life, serving as a cautionary tale that influences her choices and adds pressure to maintain the family's reputation.
Feels a deep sense of betrayal, she had confided in Odette about her dreams and ambitions, Odette's swift action feels like a calculated move to steal Nesrin's opportunities and thwart her plans.
Nesrin battles intense feelings of jealousy and resentment towards Odette, especially as she perceives her former friend not only as a rival but as someone who callously took advantage of her vulnerable confession.

At this point I think as a fandom, we've lost some of the crackship charm we once had. I can look up Ashara Dayne and Ser Davos and find results, But Nettles and Helaena have nothing. It's time to rectify that for my favourite girl and try to inspire some fanfics. Feel free to add more.
1. Daeron and Nettles
Tumblr media
Think Enemies to Lovers, Captive of War drama like Jaime and Brienne or just some good old Gwen and Arthur-inspired love. Ivy by Taylor Swift coded, a She's all that inspired affair. I genuinely think that he's just trying to be there for her with this one. It happens and neither of them realise until You're in Love starts playing.
2. Baela and Nettles.
Tumblr media
They would give the pot calling the kettle black in every argument. The Princess Bride-esque dynamic between them. Very Graham and Megan from but I'm a Cheerleader. Sapphic Pinning and Resentment should be its own genre. Sir Chloe's Michelle is my vision. We can even make a throuple with them and Jace or Alyn. Truly, I think they but heads until they kiss, building on resentment. I also think they would be the coolest couple.
3. Addam and Nettles
Tumblr media
Kaz and Inej core.
But in all seriousness, I think Addam being loyal and Duty bound and Nettles challenging that idea is delicious. Solider of Duty x Solider for the People. A modern-day Persuasion story but gender-flipped if we put our minds to it. See you Again Kali Uchis and Tyler the Creator, that's all.
4. Nettles and Helaena
Tumblr media
They just deserve better. That's all. Give me cottagecore sapphic romance with my best girls involves. Like the young lesbians from Barbie and the Diamond Castle. Lesbians raising kids together. Sheepstealer and Dreamfyre hatching eggs for the nieces and nephews. I just-
It would be so cool, I will by Mitski sentiment is already attached.
5. Alyn and Nettles
Tumblr media
Now that we are here obviously she apologized for Sheepstealer, she doesn't need to but she did, He tries not to like her but can't help it. She wins him over and they hatch him an egg or something idk. Think The Princess Diaries: Royal Engagement, Mia and Nicholas, Flipped the movie if you will. Jealously plots would slay. For the song choice think Shameless Camila Cabello. Please remember that Alyn is younger than Netty by 3/4 years though.
6. Rhaena and Nettles
Tumblr media
See now this is classic Friends to Lovers, Emma and Harriet if gay, perhaps, Bend it Like Beckham core definitely. Sofia by Clario inspired. Nettles doesn't leave Rhaena out because she's without a dragon and the same happens inverse. Sapphic confusion however, like Rhaena doesn't understand at first why she feels that way.
7. Nettles and Jace.
Tumblr media
Now for the Mr Knightley and Emma Woodhouse of our time, the Kate and Anthony of Westeros. The potential for her just not listening to him when he tries to tell her how to ride a dragon. Or when she talks to him about the people he'll rule over eventually, Ygritte and Jon style. She's also the only bastard who doesn't look Targaryen, he can relate to that a bit. I think she's Fierce and he's Stubborn. Ungodly Hour by Chloe x Halle for them.
8. Nettles and Alys.
Tumblr media
The Fire Witches of Westeros. I think they will be perfect as a ship. American Horror Story-esque characters. The two Witches in the story are obviously my favourites. It would be Jennifer's Body meets, the craft meets, and Suspiria. Willow by Taylor Swift becomes them.
This one was also a bonus more or less.
Anyways I just need to start to get a baseline story for my girl by the time the show gives her to us. So we have a general sense of direction, I'm tired of the mischaracterization of my baby. She's smart, resourceful, Cunning, Fearless, and not entirely loyal. She also curses, enough for it to be a character trait. Please remember this for her, I'm tired. I also know that Daemon loved her but she's too much fun as a character to limit her to him romantically in all her fanfictions, it is an interesting narrative to explore while we don't have exact answers but he gets romantic ships with anyone. She deserves more.

my takes on what could have made ouat a world class show
genuinely forever thinking about how GOOD once upon a time could have been drives me insane so i thought i'd compile a list just for shits cause it's been on mind ever since tiktok started giving me ouat edits again.
the gloomy yet dreamy aesthetic they NAILED in season 1 but that disappears from the rest of the show? that shit would have slapped if they'd had the artistic vision to maintain it, especially for the modern day stuff.
the way they created this super interesting cast of characters in season 1, and abandoned most of them in favor of stacking more characters on top of them that were less unique instead of fleshing out compelling storylines for the people they already had.
a world-building thing that would have been so interesting was when they were all transported back to the enchanted forest in season 3, were there major changes in the political and social make up of the enchanted forest? i mean, they had a democracy in storybrooke, and suddenly they're supposed to go back to being ruled by a series of mostly greedy and evil monarchs? I WANNA SEE A FAIRYTALE WORLD REVOLUTION. not to mention all the different technologies they know about now, medical advancements, inventions, etc. they know about enough to try and reverse engineer at least SOME things. do women start wearing pants instead of dresses? do they dress modern now instead of wearing old timey outfits? is it a mix? is there a feminist movement in the enchanted forest now?
i also can't help but feel like snow and charming stagnate so much as characters past season 2, maybe season 3. like the snow 'evil-ish' arc that they did with killing cora was so interesting and i wish that had actually had more consequences.
they didn't explore the charming family dynamic ENOUGH. cause I just feel like the way snow treated emma versus how charming treated her were so disparate and it was never addressed in a way that felt satisfying to me. like after the curse was broken it felt like there was this huge distance between Emma dn Snow that was never bridged whereas i felt like Emma and Charming actually had a relationship that developed over teh course of the show.
either they need to remove the weird male SA stuff or embrace it fully and talk about how horrible it was, because the way graham and robin were treated in the show like their SA wasn't that important was genuinely fucked

Austen asks! 4-24
I don't know if you intended this to be inclusive, but I'll answer them all anyway (skipping over the ones that have already been answered).
6. Favorite movie adaptation
The 1995 Sense and Sensibility. To me, it strikes a good balance between being a good adaptation and making the story accessible to audiences that haven't read the book, and it's one of the few that seems to understand Austen's humor and romance.
7. Favorite Austen couple
Anne and Wentworth. Their personalities balance each other perfectly.
8. Least favorite couple
Colonel Brandon and Marianne are so frustrating to me, mostly because of how Austen writes them. They fall victim to the Marian Halcombe Problem--if you spend the whole book showing a man and woman having tons of conversations and developing a good dynamic as equals, I'm not going to believe that he's in love with her sister.
9. Most hated foe of a heroine
Isabella Thorpe is a terrible person, and I can't think of any redeeming qualities or circumstances.
11. Least favorite book
I gained a better appreciation for Sense and Sensibility on my last reread, but it's still definitely Austen's weakest novel.
12. Least favorite Austen heroine
Marianne Dashwood is a realistic teenager, but not someone that I can admire or sympathize with too much.
14. Favorite love confession from the books
Can any Austen fan say anything other than The Letter in Persuasion?
16. Least favorite film adaptation
I hold a grudge against the 2005 Pride and Prejudice, because it did nothing to make me understand the appeal of Austen, and it's a horrible adaptation, but it has such a huge influence on fandom's interpretation of the novel.
Also, every once in a while, I remember the scene in the 2008 Sense and Sensibility where Brandon gives Willoughby a "stay away from my daughter" speech, and I shudder over how creepy it is.
17. Moment that made you sad/cry while reading
Basically any scene of Fanny Price's childhood.
18. Moment that made you smile/happy while reading
Henry Tilney's introduction scene in Northanger Abbey is just pure distilled joy.
19. Moment that made you laugh while reading
I'll never forget the time I laughed out loud in class while reading one of Miss Bates' speeches in Emma.
20. Moment that made you mad while reading
I don't know if I've ever been so mad for a heroine as I was during the scene where the neglected poor, orphaned, outsider Fanny watches everyone fawn over poor, orphaned outsider Mary Crawford.
22. Favorite Austen female casting decision
I love Tamsin Greig as Miss Bates in the 2009 Emma, because I did not imagine her talkativeness as stemming from anxiety, but it was fun to see her played that way and to experience a different interpretation that still felt valid.
I'm also going to take this opportunity to mention that I love Mrs. Jennings and Sir John Middleton in 1995's Sense and Sensibility. I just grin through every scene they're in, and I especially respect them after learning that they were the only cast members that Emma Thompson didn't have to write random extra dialogue for in crowd scenes, because they just naturally knew how to talk like Regency characters.
23. Favorite Austen male casting decision
I love Johnny Lee Miller as Mr. Knightley in 2009 Emma. I don't know if he matches the character in the novel, but I love how he portrayed the dynamic with Emma.
Also, Hugh Laurie as Mr. Palmer in 1995's Sense and Sensibility is perfection. And Greg Wise as Willoughby is beautiful and charming enough to do his job of fooling you into thinking he could be the romantic lead before he proves to be an utter cad.
24. Favorite supporting character
Mrs. Jennings. Hands-down. So vulgar, nosey, and over-the-top, but beneath it all, so kind and friendly and helpful. I love her so much.
