Tell me a day in the life of Fayrl... if he lived in the modern world.

I really liked the way that @meh-ayleidion answered his version of this, so I am going to do a similar style in my answer. This is rather long, so I’ve placed it under a cut

05:37: Squints at the light coming in the windows and turn over. Pull the warm body next to him close. Might as well enjoy the feel of someone in his bed.

05:43: Glares at the light for waking him up fully this time. Wrap himself around the other person more tightly in protest.

05:48: Gives up and gets out of bed. Realizes that this is not the place he’d been staying. Lovely decor though. Checks to see what last night’s partner looked like. They seem nice, maybe he will treat them to breakfast.

06:10: Eats his own breakfast, writes a note to leave with a plate of food and a mug of caffeine with milk and sugar out to taste. Time to check to see if there is anything he wants to take as a momento. He won’t be in this city long enough to have to worry about the guy tracking him down.

06:14: Waits for a ride from Dylean on the corner. That nice woman from the cafe is far too easy to persuade for a favor. She could do far better than him. He hopes that she usually does.

06:52: Fayrl thinks he likes Dylean’s lipstick better on him than on her, but he likes the shade his bites have left in the pattern of a wave across her shoulder even better. They really do need to stop fucking in her car. It’s not as if they aren’t already to her place.

07:30: Showered and redressed, Fayrl takes up a spot on the couch while Dylean showers. He takes a nap.

07:52: Grabs his travel bag of things and heads off to the neighborhood gym using Dylean’s membership card.

08:07: Flirts with the receptionist to make sure that the gentleman doesn’t entirely pay attention to the name on the membership. Goes to warm up on a machine before heading to a Zumba class.

09:19: Sucks off a guy in the sauna as part of his post exercise cool down. The guy works at the next door smoothie place and invites Fayrl to drop by anytime his manager isn’t there.

10:32: Drinks his free smoothie as he works on a new song he’s been writing. He just needs to make sure he has those chords down. Something about the feel of it isn’t quite right yet.

12:26: Gets a phone call from the local pawnshop. A buyer came in for that necklace he dropped off 5 months ago and they want it for 10% less than what Fayrl had asked for. It’s less than he had hoped, but he asked for about 15% more than he thought the thing would be worth. And it wasn’t like he had paid for the necklace to begin with.

12:58: Arrives at the pawnshop to pick up his cash. Asks Benny if the earrings he has on suits him or if he should think about pawning them. Benny inspects one and says he doesn’t have any regulars who could afford even half the cost right now. There’ve been too many raids. Buyers are a little spooked. Fayrl thanks Benny and pays for the knife he has on hold.

14:20: Goes back to the hotel and orders champagne to drink while in his hot tub. Turns on work phone number three and takes calls from a sex line while he relaxes to soft music.

17:48: Gets dressed and tunes his guitar. The manager agreed to let him open for the band that night, it’ll earn him some cash and get him a couple free drinks.

21:52: Is invited to the after party for the band. It’s just across town and he has some time to kill before he has to be there.

22:31: Finish with a client in the alley behind a club. Call Dylean and invite her to come to the after party with him. She agrees to drive.

23:28: Turns out that the after party is almost exclusively a drug-induced orgy. Convinces Dylean to just try it and see how she feels. Tells her if she’s uncomfortable she can leave at any time she wants.

00:49: Dylean leaves. She has to open the cafe the next morning. Fayrl tells her he will drop by and bring her a real meal for lunch, not the bland food that the cook on Thursday always makes.

01:10: Some guy tries to make off with Fayrl’s wallet. He catches him by the wrist and swipes the man’s wallet while he yells at the guy about taking other people’s things.

01:25 Gets asked to leave by the bouncer for starting the fight inside.

01:54: Goes to a local dive bar and puts music on the jukebox. Sings along while he drinks.

02:18: Accompanies an older and clearly married woman to her car. What is with women and cars these days?

02:36: Talks with the woman, Mari, about her failing marriage. And with four children. A messy affair and a pitiful story. Learns where the husband works and where his mistress and he meet. Ruminates on how best to make use of this information.

03:01: Arrives back to the hotel and sprawl out on the bed with a bottle of brandy and a pitcher of ice. Looks out over the city lights while drinking and finally nail the lyrics to the last verse of his newest song.

03:17: Knock on the door. It’s Darell, the hair dresser with the uncle who owns an Indian restaurant downtown. Perhaps he won’t have to be alone in the king sized bed tonight after all.
