Child who is excited for Christmas: Mama Mama! What do you think Santa is gonna get me this year?

Mother who is looking forward to Christmas: It’d be nice if you got the Chogokin* HAMA Landmark Robo DX you’ve been wanting.

???: …would you…

Salaryman who resents this time of year: So damn cold! To hell with this season! Who made it legal to walk around in this weather!?

Nagi: Would you like some… 

Salaryman who resents this time of year: Huh? Are they working me so hard that I’m hallucinating now…?

Nagi: Would you like some handcrafted wreaths… 

Salaryman who resents this time of year: Waugh—!? W-What do you want!?

Nagi: This handcrafted wreath is the perfect decoration for Christmas. If you hang it up on your door, not only will it lift your mood with the Christmas spirit, it’s also imbued with prayers of prosperity and good harvest for the new year, as well as ward against evil spirits— 

Salaryman who resents this time of year: You’re one of those weirdos who pop up at the end of the year… Go away! I don’t have time to deal with the likes of you!

*walks away*

Nagi: Oh… 

Child who is excited for Christmas: Mama, that person… 

Mother who’s looking forward to Christmas: L-Let’s leave, Takashi-chan. Mama will make sure to report that suspicious person, okay?

*hurries away*

Nagi: …… 

Nagi: (Suspicious… I guess I should just crawl into a corner…)

Restaurant employee who’s prickly after working 15 days in a row: Hey! Don’t peddle your stuff in front of the restaurant! Shoo, shoo!

*Nagi jumps back*

Nagi: S-Sorry.

Nagi: *sigh* I can’t feel my hands anymore… 

Nagi: (Right… The weather forecast did say the temperature would fall below freezing at night…)

Nagi: (Sonia and I worked hard on making these wreaths together, so I’d like to sell as many as I can before it gets too late…)

Nagi: I should cover these with a handkerchief so that the snow doesn’t pile up on them… 

*bell chimes*

Man enjoying Christmas with his girlfriend: This restaurant is great!

Woman enjoying Christmas with her boyfriend: Yeah! Thank you for making the reservation~♪ 

Nagi: …Oh.

Nagi: (I can see two brothers inside the warm restaurant, digging into some turkey as they sit in a circle with their family…)

Nagi: (“Brother, the turkey legs are both mine, okay?”)

Nagi: (“You’re so naive. True connoisseurs know that the turkey oyster* is the best part…!)

Nagi: That’s all for the voiceover.

Nagi: …… 

Nagi: Yeah, I should just go. I need to get Sonia her treats, and a fried chicken sandwich… Ugh—

*Nagi falls*

Nagi: …The snow is so cold… Freezing me with no mercy… 

Nagi: (...I guess eating only tofu with barbeque sauce for three days straight was a bit too much…)

Nagi: (I might freeze to death in the middle of this big city—)

*Nagi blacks out*

??: Oi.

Nagi: (Ah… So they’ve finally come for me.)

???: …of yourself.

Nagi: (Huh… Angels sound a lot more… manlier than I’d thought…)

I love the Christmas movies they play at this time of year.

Family who come back for you when you’d thought they’d left you behind, being saved by an angel when you felt like dying*… I just like how these movies have something miraculous happen at the climax and reach a happy ending. 

It fills you with the kind of hope that says such a warm and welcoming world is right around the corner…

Nagi: This is… 

Nagi: (An electric hearth, fancy looking furniture, and silky sheets… It even smells heavenly… Woah, this fluffy bed could fit at least ten of me in it…)

Nagi: (And last but not least.)

Rabbit: Pui.

Nagi: (A bunny to cuddle with…)

Nagi: So this is what they call transmigrating into another world, huh…

Rabbit: Chu.

Nagi: Are you trying to guide me somewhere?

Lively woman’s voice: *sigh* I’m sure you’ll be able to manage it somehow.

Gruff male voice: Even if we prepared the same gifts as last time…

Cheerful girl’s voice: No way~ It’d be way too boring to use the same stuff again.

Lively woman’s voice: Stop grumbling and get to work.

Gruff man’s voice: Every single time, you manage to increase my workload at the end of the year. What a pain… 

Lively Woman’s voice: You wanna say that to my face?

Nagi: …… 

Nagi: Looks like this isn’t another world, but rather—

Nagi: A bunny café…

Sojun: Wrong.

Chōgōkin (超合金) - Meaning "Super Alloy", the term originated as a fictional material from which the robot Mazinger Z was built.

Oyster here refers to the meat near the spine of a fowl

DX Chogokin YF-19

I don’t know much about Macross. But what I do know is that Macross Plus is amazing and the YF-19 is easily my favorite mecha from the franchise.

Never had any experience with this line of die cast figures and was surprised how big it actually is. Definitely makes for a display piece that stands out and grab attention. Unfortunately, I had a real hard time with the transformation between the different battle modes. Not sure if all the figures in this line are like this. My advice is to chose which mode you like the best and leave it that way. At the price, I can’t say I recommend something that gave me such a hard time unless you’re a big Macross fan.

Another one bites the dust. If 2024 wasn't cruel enough, another integral part of my internet experience has shut down.

The collection of toys was amazing and the reviews were very informative it was a joy to browse their selection, imagining how awesome it would be to own some of those toys, the sweet days of youth.

I don't know what is sadder about the story the fact that the owner said that we can still see the website on the internet archive which is currently down or the fact that his last review at the time of writing,the review of DX Chogokin Giga Phoenix ,he managed to break the toy(a sad sing indeed).

To be fair I haven't been visiting the site as regularly as I used to I guess i got older and have been busier with other things.

Now I am older and I can afford most of those toys from the site but I will miss you collectiondx thank you for the memories.

Soul of Where’d My Money Go: Ogiue Maniax Status Update for June 2024

As we inch closer to summer (and all the fun and horror that entails), I find myself a little spend-happy. What can I do when the Soul of Chogokin line announced a ton of new releases for their 50th anniversary?! There’s the DX Showa Mechagodzilla, Shinkalion, Tryon 3 (aka the very first Gundam entry in the SoC line), and it doesn’t even stop there. It’s impossible for me to buy all of them, but…

So Macross 7 is not the most popular and I think the hate is well deserved. I did finally finish it for the first time and must have just been in the right mindset that I actually enjoyed it.

I still think Basara is a jackass

Honestly despite all the weird and ridiculous things in Macross 7 I think my single biggest complaint was how the mecha/military were essentially ineffective. Only the power of singing had any real effect on the enemy. Most other Macross entries I feel like they go hand in hand. The military might be able to hold their own but the singing gives em the edge to win, that was absent in Macross 7.

I enjoyed it enough that I picked up this old chunky VF-17D!

Gamlin was easily my favorite character and I think the best character in the series. So much like the YF-29 I purchased, I'm not actually in love with the design the way I am the VF-1 or VF-25, but I like the pilot enough I wanted their plane.

People knock the old bandai (and takatoku) style toys for being too chunky/not accurate enough but I am honestly having so much more fun flying this around my apartment than my DX Chogokin line. (which I still need to post pics of)

Is it chunky, lacking detail and articulation? Absolutely...

But is it also durable/made to played with, and easy to transform? Hell yes.

It's just fun. The DX or Arcadia/Yamato might be very well executed and detailed and nice to look at, but I feel like looking at em is enough to break em.

I think there's a place for both styles and would love Bandai to release something that fits between these 2 lines (no not the hi metal r, fucking hate those)

Banpresto Godzilla 1954 (2002)

Really happy to have this in my collection ^-^

Sculpted by Yuji Sakai this is def one of my fav sculpts ever released of the 1954 design, despite the neutral pose it has such a striking presence. The detailing on him is amazing and I enjoy the bright white of his spikes, really pretty contrast to the dark coloring of his skin and nails. He features no articulation, none of the limbs are able to move.

I was able to snag him alongside the header! Love the pictures of Yuji Sakai alongside the figure.

He is one of the bigger toys that I own, the first two pictures include the Bandai America release of the 2002 Kiryu and the Bandai DX Godzilla 2003, and the third includes the Soul of Chogokin Kiryu.

DX-03 Combattler V - Part 1

Another addition the DX Chogokin line, the DX-03 is the first transformable robot in the premium Bandai model series. The first notable thing once you get in touch with the model, is its quite compact box, at least compared with the previous DX entries. The main difference here is of course the absence of the hangar, but the box quality is even better than before, with 5 separate carton boxes each housing one of the five vehicles that combines in the mighty Combattler V. A separated box is dedicated to weapons/accessories plus the display stand.
