I'm playing the steam version, and my animals aren't eating the grass from their pasture and starving to death. I noticed that all of the grass is "dead" (including all the shrubs and bushes) but do you know how that could have happened and if it can be fixed?

Some evil biomes cause all the local vegetation to be dead. Luckily, in my experience this this doesn't apply to cave moss or floor fungus in the caverns. All you need to do to fix this is mine down to the caverns and pasture your grazers there. Make sure to secure the entrance to your fortress from the caverns and wall off your animal friends in a safe pen, otherwise you could have some uninvited guests interrupt their feeding.
