YEAS. It's the #soulstriprecordchallenge , brought to you by @kitten_e_face and @uncle_seabass ! Day 22:  Perfect Road Trip Album When it comes to road trips, two important factors makes the trip entirely in my mind:  how you start and how you finish.  With that being said, a brotha got-ta choose two records! Starting: Devo - Duty Now For The Future [Warner Bros. Records, 1979] Ending: The Time - What Time Is It? [Warner Bros. Records, 1982] When it comes to revving up and hitting the pavement, nothing gets it going like DEVO!  Quirky lyrics, hard driving post-punk beats, squelchy synths and energy galore!  And this album NEVER disappoints!  From the frenetic energy of "Clock Out" on down to the paranoia of "S.I.B.", flowing onto the calm driving pace of "The Day My Baby Gave Me a Surprise", the bands 2nd album effort is a super fun romp, showcasing the band in their transition from post punk purveyors onto synthpop stardom. Of course, all trips come to an end, and all of my trips have always ended with this one.  Quite by accident, I slammed The Time's 2nd album effort (noticing a trend?  Two 2nd album efforts from Warner artists?) into my cassette player.  It timed out perfectly that by the end of the album, I was back in my hometown.  So I do that all the time.  40 minutes out, we jam MPLS style!  With more memorable riffs and drum beats to shake a stick at, The Time's "What Time Is It?" is nonstop DOPENESS.  Once again utilizing the Prince-recorded-with-Day method, the album comes ALIVE when played live, thanks to Moir, Johnson & Johnson, Benton and the megaforce of JAM and LEWIS.  All 6 tracks recommended! Shout out to JAM and LEWIS...because they are friggin JAM and LEWIS!!
