            the evening had been long, and that was before the actual work had started. thankfully, leliana had brought enough wine to last the entirety of the war table meeting. or at least enough to get herself through whatever the other advisors had to say about their situation before she was left with the inquisitor. 

       the plan was to discuss subtle strategies, but of course, none had been discussed by the time the hour is late enough to return to their respective chambers. although, honestly, leliana is grateful for the break from routine. 

       the spymaster finally returns her cup to the table, apparently saying good night by pressing a gentle kiss to the other’s cheek, lingering far longer than would have been seen polite in the society she was raised in, of course that much is intentional. 

          “good night, inquisitor.”

Émilie nods, pulling the loose strands of hair that were pushed by the harsher wind of the mountains sorrounding Skyhold. That was the way of thinking that she herself tried to keep and spread like it was wildfire to the rest of the mages that were still in the field. The mage looks to the Inquisitor and feeling that she feels that honestly does give her hope that such an idealistic point of view is not foolish after everything was said and done. Émilie tried to keep those same thoughts when the night finally set in and there was only the watch to go through. The rationing of food and of blankets that they could find along the way. 

To be in Skyhold felt good, felt safe. The feeling that she knew that she could have a warm meal was surreal, especially one not cooked by her, a meal that she could trust not have been made by the hands of those that would much sooner end her life. Not everything was perfect, and even in Skyhold it was not all flowers, but it was good enough.

Unfortunately things were not quite as simple as simply wishing for it, wanting for it. But she doubted that was what the Inquisitor was saying. To allow herself to simply take in the optimism like a warm blanket around her shoulders... Émilie could allow herself that. 

Her fingers catch the loose hair that had started to grow, grow enough that they could be put behind her ears, which is to where she places them “I’ll be sure to spread your word when I return to the field, Inquisitor. Optimism alongside the support from the Inquisition is a sight for sore eyes.”

dorian laughed a little at the comment. he held a glass up to his mouth to hide the joke about a particularly strange hat that he was wearing. what were the orlesians thinking with this? he would truly never understand their fashion sense. “i wonder which bird had to die for him to wear that stupid thing,” he whispered back to her.
