fear and hunger termina has consumed my every waking thought and then I dream about it (everyone who recommended this& specifically daan to me - YOU WERE RIGHT) so it was absolutely no surprise when I whipped out a daan von dutch cosplay for kamicon this past weekend. Before I even knew the story, I knew a daan cosplay was in my future by design alone and little did I know just how much I would fall in love with this character and narrative. I cannot recommend funger to anyone in good conscience hahaha BUT it’s a story that truly impacted me and made me think and cry and anguish and introspect and make peace. It is truly a masterpiece.

alrighty folks, finally back at my hotel! i literally waited for about nine hours to get these photos, but it was 100000% worth it. the cast is literally the sweetest ever

bonus points for alex posting my map on her story. extra bonus points for jo quite literally telling me i looked hot and deserved to be there and nearly bringing me to tears.

Mr. Torgue Cosplay during VienCon 2023

So the first pool cosplay I did for VienCon was my fabourite weapons manufacturer from Borderlands Mr. Torgue

This was such a fun cosplay to do. I got lot's of compliments on my sick mustache and met lot's of Borderlands fans (who were all incredibly lovely)

this is one of the details hidden behind the eyepatch of my daan cosplay that I immediately wanted to incorporate even though no one would ever see it - and that’s honestly why I wanted to do it most. there’s something… exhilarating about that. It’s something that felt very true to the character’s tragedy and symbolic impact of course but to use a cliche and greatly simplify, daan really embodies the ‘maybe… we DONT need to open the door’ idea in regards to the primal fear of the unknown and the oft destructive qualities of humanity’s quest toward knowledge that follows. Having this detail hidden “under the surface” kinda nods to how this idea resonates with me and the perversion of agency and decay of self determination that can follow our pull into the depths of the unknown. Ultimately the scariest part about “the daan thing�� to me is that it reveals most poignantly that our desire to make the unknown “known” is often linked to a desire for control, and the further we go into this vastness, the closer we could come to standing face to face with the knowledge… we have none.

termina still occupies every corner of my mind, and so I apologize (not really) that there is no end in sight to the brain rot…
