Okay well, I don't know if you have seen it yet, but a while ago Tumblr introduced it's new feature called communities.

When Tumblr asked me if I want to create a community I thought "let's try" so, of course I created a Moonvale and a Duskwood community. Not I got the notification it's approved. And people can join now. But it seems like I have to invite them.

It looks pretty cool. I still don't really understand what it is for and how it works but as I said, I wanted to try it.

So, if you're curious as well I would love if you would interact with this post by writing a comment, if you want to join so that I can invite you. You can also send me an ask or DM. Please make sure to point our which community you want to join. Moonvale or Duskwood or both.

Okay, guys, in my desperate need for Moonvale I started looking for similar games and I came across this game called "An Elmwood Trail". At first, I didn't hope for much, but it turns out the story is pretty good and it has some plot twists. It reminded me of Duskwood in a way🤔. I'm telling you a bit about it in case you want to check it out.

A private etective named ADAM is basically working on a investigation to find a MISSING GIRL called Zoey. As the episodes go by, we find out that everything is much more complicated than it seems. It has currently only 2 episodes but they're quite long, I was surprised (the second one came out maybe a week ago or something so now you can play them both in one go, you're welcome).

I plan on winning you over by saying there are a lot of cool CLUES you have to try and find out and you basically work from Adam's phone, so it definitely makes it realistic despite the fact that the characters are not played by real actors, but trust me it's really good. Plus, there are kind of HACKERS involved👀...

If you want to try and check it out, it's a free app available on Play Store (I think it's only available in English, but I trust our bilingualism💅 so it shouldn't be a big problem). Oh, and they also recommend to play it with headphones and so do I (it's really good and it helps with the clues too).

My Duskwood people, you probably already know the why of my captions and I dearly hope I convinced you at least a little bit. And of course if you want a bestie to scream at while you are playing it, then (please) write to me🤭 ;).

More Moonvale thoughts...

I know, I know, I said I would shut up after the last one but this one isn't a critique. It's not even so much about the game. It's more about the community.

Even though there have been some issues to put it lightly I'm excited to be here this early! I didn't find Duskwood until episode 4 or 5 and didn't join the community here until 6 or 7. I'm excited to be here from episode 1 of Moonvale. I'm happy to discuss and theorize with everyone.

Regardless of what Everbyte does or doesn't do and whether or not we agree or disagree the community here is amazing. I found the community during a very dark time in my life and reading/writing fan fiction helped me through some crazy depression.

So thank you for being awesome.

With all hands pointing to the heavens, midnight arrived and with it, Jake returned.

Moonlight shone its silver sickle shimmer upon the world. A soft breeze seeped through her open window and ruffled her loose hair as she bit her lip, staring down at the dark garden. Her eyes scanned the grounds from side to side, head on a swivel as muffled grunts and panting neared where she waited.

Her heart pounded furiously, a shake in her hands as she held her breath to listen for the sound of her father racing down the halls. It never came. He slept like the dead. They would be safe tonight.

There was a scuff and a sharp intake of breath that made her jerk and peer over the edge as a pair of familiar hands grasped the white windowsill. The royal blue curtains flittered in the breeze. Her web-fine smile solidified and her stomach fluttered, butterflies flying with abandon as Jake climbed the side of her house to get to her.

She saw his knuckles bleach bone pale, as he gripped the edges of the window frame and pulled himself up.

His blackened hair, wild and curly, danced upon his sweat bejeweled forehead as she stepped back to allow him inside. The muscles in his arms and shoulders trembled and pulled tight as he carefully swung a leg inside, the rest of him following and they stood and drank each other in as they both went still.

Her hands flexed at her sides, the urge to reach out and grab him almost impossible to resist. Her ears strained as they listened to the house settling, the creaks and groans of old wood too similar to footsteps for her as Jake met her eye. So many words passed from his sea-glass eyes and into hers, heard as though he whispered them against her skin. She knew he read her responses in her own gaze.

I missed you. We don't have long. I shouldn't be here. But I want you here. I'll stay until you sleep. Don't say goodbye when you go, my heart can't take it.

Instead of speaking any of them aloud, she'd heard them all before, they moved as one into an embrace so complete; she forgot she couldn't keep him. Just for a moment—he was hers again.

The story includes a short smut scene that is non graphic and not the focal point of the story. You know what’s happening, but the details are very blurry. It’s a story about forbidden, secret love with a short time limit. With a touch of hope because it’s me—I can’t not have hope.

I haven't named nor described the MC. She can be whoever you want her to be. I hope you enjoy it, if you give it a try, no pressure ���❤️

I took care of it.

The young hacker sighed as he sent the message, he hoped it would give MC at least a small sense of comfort. He had already noticed that she was being somewhat cyber bullied by strangers. Oh god, Lilly. What did you do? What a mess you created.

That's great

MC was safe for now, at least as safe as he could manage. He himself; however, that was another story. He needed to start packing, time was of the essence, it was time to go on the run again.

But you didn't threaten her, did you?

Jake paused, packing had to wait. There was no way he was going to leave while that awful thought was being entertained inside MC's head. Why would she even think that? Didn't she trust him? Didn't she know him, know that he would never do something like that?

What? No, of course not. I talked to her.

No, of course she didn't know. It was like he was pulling her in just enough so that he could ultimately push her away once more. It was an utter mess of confusion, of hidden feelings, vulnerability, secrets, and self-preservation; and he was the cause of it.

Please don't lie to me

"I'm not lying, MC." He muttered, one hand finding refuge in his black, wavy hair; slightly tugging on the strands in frustration.

That was way too fast

He sighed, what would he have to say to make her believe him? Despite his mistakes, he was a man of integrity, or at least he thought so, hoped so, knew so.

I am telling the truth MC. I filled her in on something. One day I am going to tell you too, I promise you that.

Yes, Lilly was now in possession of somewhat slightly incriminating evidence against him. Something that would thoroughly involve him in Hannah's disappearance. Something that would finally state the connection he had to the missing Donfort girl.....

I've been hearing that since forever.....Jake, please.

Jake groaned, Ugh, she was right. MC deserved to know the truth, He didn't know what would become of himself, what his fate held, whether he would ever get the chance to tell her in the future...it had to be now. Yes, MC was right, once again undeniably right. Damn.

MC, I am wanted by the government.

Probably not the most tactful way to start this conversation, but at least it was now out in the open. He felt the sudden urge to close his eyes, hesitating to read MC's response. What would she say?

You are WHAT?

Jake's fingers flew across the keyboard. He needed to reassure her, he couldn't lose her trust, he couldn't lose her, not now, not ever.

Yes. But I am one of the good guys. If you can call it that. I meddled in some things that were never supposed to get out into the public.

Why haven't you ever told me?

The hacker stopped, was she really asking him that? Wasn't it obvious? If he had started it off as "Hey, I'm considered a criminal that is wanted by the government, I need you to trust me" she would have literally flipped out. Come on, MC. You're smarter than this, I know you are, don't play dumb with me.

Because I was afraid that you would stop trusting me.

Yes, understandably so

Jake sighed, he was getting off topic, he needed to focus. Time was waning, he had no doubt that the FBI was already hot on his trail.

In any case, Lilly has published some serious information about me now. And any piece of information about me, no matter how small of a detail it is, Could help the people that are after me find out where I am.

That sounds awful

It was awful.......but to be honest.....he found himself no longer caring.

To be honest....Ever since I met you....I actually have hope again. And I thank you for that, MC.

MC made him comfortable, made him forget his present circumstances, made the trauma of his past fade out of view as the time and the conversations with her increased. He found himself falling, falling for her. And just as he was finally coming to the realization of that fact, it was too late to tell her, not now at least. They had more pressing matters to attend to, such as.....

As much as I regret it, I will now have to make some arrangements to ensure my safety first. I have to assume that the people hunting for me are hot on my heels by now. They may even be close to finding me. You might be on for you own for some time.

What, you are leaving me hanging?!

A small, dark chuckle escaped his lips. It certainly did seem like it, but no, he would never, besides.....he physically and mentally couldn't. There was no way in heck he was going to let her go.

No, of course I won't do that. If you really need me, I am going to be there for you. From now on you are going to have to take the lead.

Another sigh filled his ears, he hated this. He hated having to leave her like this. A while back he had told her he found it hard to pick up on emotions over text, but right now, he could sense it perfectly. MC was upset, fearful, perhaps even angry at Lilly, maybe even angry at him himself; but deep down he could tell she cared, deeply.

I know that I can always count on you. You've shown it to me more than once.

He paused, then once realizing she wasn't going to reply, he immediately started to type. He hoped his next message would make her laugh, at least smile a little bit, ease her sadness. He didn't want to have to leave her with a heavy heart; even though he knew that was an impossible wish to have.

And something good comes out of this whole thing: I won't be able to read your private chats anymore.

No response, damn. She was taking this hard, wasn't she? Ugh. He wished he could take more time to comfort her, to ease her nerves; if only he had the time........as it was right now he needed to flee, and the time to rewind back to about ten minutes ago.

My time is running out.

MC needed to focus, she needed to continue on in their investigation during his absence. She was the key to the puzzle, he needed to be able to depend on her.

Do you still remember, what our last lead was?

Yeah, I remember. The mysterious "Jennifer"

A faint smile flitted across his lips, in spite of all the chaos, she still remembered. Further proving to him that she could indeed keep a level head, despite the circumstances.

Right. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to look into it any further. But I think you are just as capable of doing it as I am.

For real?

Ahh, there was her sense of humor. That emojie.....what even was that? A sweaty grin? Ohhhh, wait, a nervous laugh.....yes, that was it.

Yes. Of course. You have five friends from Duskwood. Thomas, Cleo, Jessy, Richy, and Dan. I want you to choose one of them and then ask them about our mysterious Jennifer.

And you don't care who I choose?

Jake bit his lip, of course he cared. He hoped MC would choose someone who had been a resident there for years, perhaps even their whole childhood, someone who had lived there when the "terrible incident" took place ten years ago. But who would she choose? MC was very close to Jessy, did that mean she would probably ask her? Or would she ask Cleo? Richy maybe? God, he hoped she would refrain from asking Dan, what an idiot, ugh. And Thomas, hmmmm, Jake wouldn't choose him for sure if it was up to him....But it wasn't up to him, it was up to MC, he had placed the responsibility into her hands. And he trusted her, he whole-heartedly trusted her.

Let's just say, I trust your judgement. Just like you have to trust the person that you are going to choose.

It was time to say goodbye, damn. Usually goodbyes didn't faze him, because he would never allow himself to once again get close to someone, letting him avoid the painful, bittersweet goodbye. But ever since meeting MC, his world had shifted, she had pulled the rug from right underneath his feet. What had she done to him?

I have to go now. But I am going to contact you again as soon as I can.

Fingers paused over the keyboard, when would he be able to text her again? He hoped it would be soon.......he would make it be soon.

Hey, Jake?

Yes?

A small panic swarmed inside his head, he could feel his cheeks flush red. Was she going to say I love you? What would he say????

Phew. A relieved but somewhat disappointed sigh escaped his lips, god he was hormonal. He had never experienced such fast mood swings as he had ever since he met MC. Damn, he had it bad.

Thank you for never making me regret confiding in you.

Forcing himself to log off, he quickly set to work tearing his computer and work station down. Would he ever be able to rest without having to look over his shoulder? Would his life always be laced with risk and uncertainty? Was there a happily ever after in store for him? God he hoped so, he really REALLY hoped so.

I miss the old times where we all created theories about Duskwood, wrote fanfictions with the theories, and made our own ending. All the crazy chatter in the discord servers that existed and still exist. I'm in at least 6? All of them are barely active anymore. They all have a Moonvale channel, but guess what? It's so inactive. If you look into the Moonvale channels, you'll only find disappointment of loyal fans.

I am sad of what happened with the love Everbyte had for Duskwood but apparently lost it for Moonvale. I tried to replay it, but I just can't get into it with all the AI "art," the weird way of chatting, the pay to win system, and also the shallow characters. I was so invested after the first 3 messages in Duskwood, soo... What went wrong in Moonvale?

Even all the character ai chats went dead even though it was quite funny to see the funny chats between human and AI Jake. I'm truly saddened.

Hey Anon. Yes, I sadly, absolut get what you mean. I mean, I used to be much more active myself. I'm sadly one of those who lost it a bit. Maybe also because of how long I'm doing this here already. 4 years? 5? I'm not even sure anymore. And I still love Duskwood the same way I loved it when it came out. But at some point I guess it's just normal that we lose some of the excitement and the hype for it. I mean, I've played duskwood, shamefully, over 70 times. Because it was that important to me. But sadly, even I can overplay it. And it happened a few times to me. I always come back, but it doesn't change that I have phases were it's just not that intense.

And I thing one problem with Moonvale is also that we only have one episode yet. There wasn't that much to talk about when it comes to the storyline. A few cool things, absolutely. But just not that much so far. I'm sure when we get more episodes it will become more like it was with duskwood. More theories, fanfictions and all that.

And we also can't forget that, with Duskwood, Everbyte landed a huge, HUGE thing. It was mind blowing and so popular. Even if Everbyte made duskwood, but it can be hard for them as well to top when it was already the best in the scene.

I'm also still sad about the problems with Moonvale. But I will wait and really hope everbyte took our criticism to heart and will come around with many changes. The disappointment is great but I'm willing to give them the chance to change and make it more like duskwood was. And I thing another big problem is just that many people are anxious that they won't change the most important things. I think everyone is just afraid that episode two will leave us with the same disappointment again. Because it was horribly sad. And yes, I also can't deny that we all pushed each other unintentionally more and more into the disappointment and sadness. I mean, if everything you read are more and more things and disappointments people point out, then it affects us more and more.

But I absolutely get what you mean. I miss the experience we had with duskwood. The excitement, the thrill.. All the theories, the fanfictions, crack fanfictions, crack theories with crazy things in it. How we all made theories and everyone else added their two cents and made it an even bigger thing.

After an experience like this, of course it's even harder to deal with what we had in Moonvale. We just had so high hopes and they weren't met. But we should not let this steal all our happiness and experience we had with duskwood. I think we all wish it would still be the same, but it can be again. And even if not to the same extent, we all experienced it, and we all remember how great those two years were. And I love seeing old posts from this time.

We always were so much more than just a fandom. We all were connected as huge online family. And it's still the same. Even if we are currently more silent. But I know that the community will make the Moonvale experiences better. I have hopes for the future of moonvale and I will always stay to talk about it. And I will make sure to be a part of those times.

I'm sorry it makes you so sad. I can absolutely understand why and I really feel the same. But I'm positive we will have it again. And we will always have the memories. (Maybe at some point I will bring back the throwback Sunday, when I reblogged duskwood posts from those times)

But as long as that, even if I'm much more inactive and often not at all. I will always come back and will help and take part in making the fandom as lively as it used to be.

Stopping by to recomend another really cool game in case you all have no patience like me and want to make time until February 21st arrives :)

Maybe some of you already know it, it's called "Orphans" I think it's only available in a few languages, but if you manage with English, it's a given. As a small, spoiler-free introduction: The game is basically about a group of friends that enter an abandoned and "haunted" orphanage to record stuff and make videos (I know, who does that? Incredibly intelligent people). Turns out they suddenly find YOUR number on the back of an OLD PICTURE of all the KIDS back in the day. I mean. Your number? There? Why?????? And then it basically starts building up and you realize the whole thing is a lot more complicated and you get to "hack" stuff (hehe😎. yes, exactly, I mean MINIGAMES).

Overall, I'm in episode three and think it's still in development but it has like six episodes for now and they're pretty long, so it's great. Also, disclaimer: if you are a scaredy-cat like me, you'd appreciate the fact that I tell you this beforehand: more than half the media (videocalls, calls, pictures...) contain more than a few jumpscares even when you think they're not (they tricked me more than once, I want to prevent heart attacks) and the whole thing is more like a paranormal activity set, which I'm not a huge fan of, but the game it's pretty entertaining and good overall. And yes, there are REAL ACTORS, so it makes it much more "real". Hehe.

That is all the rambling I do for now instead of studying (lol). Please, let me know if some of you end up playing it, I want yapping besties. :)
