Why Choose Russia for Studying Medicine?
Russia is the top choice for quality medical education at affordable costs. Also, Russia is the home of the top medical schools in the world that are approved and recognized by the WHO, NMC, and many other international medical organisations. Besides the plethora of options available, Russia is one of the popular destinations that emerged as a prominent country for pursuing MBBS. With its world-class medical education, bespoke clinical training, excellent medical infrastructure, affordable tuition fees, multicultural environment, and globally recognized degree, Russia offers several advantages to Indian students looking to study MBBS Abroad.
Low Tuition Fee & Affordable Living Cost
Affordable living cost and low MBBS tuition fees are two most important factors that most international students look for, and that they get right here in Russia. As opposed to the fees in Indian private medical Universities, the MBBS in Russia fees are fairly lower and more affordable for most Indian students. It ranges between 4 to 7 lakh per year. However, the cost of living is economical as well.
No Entrance Test for Admission
Russian medical colleges require no admission tests, for Indians, an NEET score is required, especially in those universities that are approved and recognised by NMC and WHO. But they don’t ask for a high NEET score, only NEET qualification is mandatory. Students get admission into MBBS in Russia based on their Higher/Senior Secondary Education marks or 10+2.

The duration of the MBBS program in Russia is another appealing aspect for Indian students. Most Russian medical universities offer a 6-year MBBS program, including one year of mandatory clinical training. This not only streamlined the MBBS curriculum but also ensured that Indian students could complete their medical education in a relatively shorter time frame compared to other countries in the world.

Is MBBS in the Philippines valid in India?
Tumblr media
isadvantages of Pursuing an MBBS Course in the Philippines
While there are some advantages, it is crucial to be aware of the challenges associated with studying MD or MBBS in the Philippines, information often not disclosed by agents. Consider these factors before finalizing the Philippines as your destination for medical studies:
i) Admission to BS Program Before Medicine: One major drawback is that Indian students are initially enrolled in a pre-medical program (BS). Admission to a BS program does not guarantee a seat in the medical program leading to an MD/MBBS. The necessity to pass the NMAT Exam to secure a medical seat poses a significant challenge, and failure may result in students returning home without progressing to the MD program and facing academic setbacks.
ii) Extended Duration for MD/MBBS Program: Another critical aspect concealed by agents is the program’s lengthy duration. The total program duration is 7.5 years, the longest among available options. This includes the initial 2 years for the bachelor’s degree program leading to the NMAT exam, followed by a 5.5-year medical program after the NMAT success.
iii) Visa Issues: Indian students often encounter visa-related challenges, starting with obtaining a tourist visa upon arrival in the Philippines. Dependence on agents and colleges for converting from a tourist visa (9A type) to a study visa (9F type) adds complexity. Additionally, changes in the course, such as transitioning from BS to MD after NMAT success, necessitate new visa issuance.
iv) Poor University Rankings: The Philippines’ medical universities generally have low infrastructure and rankings, ranging from 9000 to 12,000 globally. Despite some exceptions, Indian students are typically admitted to private medical colleges, and the overall quality of education may not match international standards.
v) Medical License Limitations for Indian Students: The CHED and Philippine regulations restrict obtaining a medical practice license in the Philippines, which grants licenses only to nationals of countries allowing Filipinos to practice abroad. Since the NMC does not permit foreigners, including Indians, to practice in India, Indian students are unable to obtain a medical license in the Philippines. Fulfilling the mandatory CHED registration for FMGE regulation remains unmet in the Philippines, posing a significant obstacle.
