Ok so merlin has been alive for centuries. Arthur was only really part of his life for a tiny percentage of his long long life. But the myth and stories of king Arthur have been told and retold for centuries. I imagine it's very easy to eventually mix myth and what actually happened together

precisely! it is why we have so many variations of the legend in so many forms (which include people placing their own OCs, see the plethora of knights lol)

anyway, yes, Arthur was only a part of Merlin’s life for a short time. no one would fault him for forgetting who Argur was and their relationship to each other. no one centuries in the future would find it odd that Merlin’s memories of that small percentage of time faded away from him

however, Arthur was also a part of the start of Merlin’s life: the beginning of him growing into the powerful warlock of legend. so he was there for the formative years. he was there when the foundations were being built (similar to how Merlin was there for his own). whilst oblivious to the magic side of Merlin until his untimely end, Arthur was there for it since the moment they met

so, as a personal preference, i like to think that the reason Arthur’s story and legend lives on is a greater fault of Merlin wishing for his best friend, most trusted and beloved companion, to live on in the minds of man just like Arthur continues to do so

How would Mini Bruce react to Jason getting sent to Arkham or something in the antithesis of magic au? Say it was either before Bruce took up Mockingjay, or maybe he wasn't patrolling that night for some reason, and the bats caught Jason and throw him into Arkham. Would Bruce go after the bats? Or would he first try to break Jason out?

Mini Bruce is endlessly protective of Jason, so he’d definitely go for breaking him out first. And he’d succeed, because that kid is a menace AND a genius.

And after that the bats are free game and mini Bruce would have so much fun hounding them in all ways non-lethal lol ✨

of course!!! honestly i dont think ive made any new ones in particular since last year? with the amount i have atp i kinda go back and forth between new and old ones kjsdgkjsdhgs but i guess rafi and naomi would be the most recent that i actually do somewhat draw on occasion because otherwise a good chunk of them are just. kind of concepts i bounce around in my head jksdgjkhsdgsh

So since Ymber wouldn't be a deity there are some things he lacks physically - such as no pointed ears and no bright blue undertones to his hair. Just the basic blue. (does he dye it in a modern AU ? who knows) Also while he doesn't have a collar to symbolize his servitude to humans I still think he should have a choker.

I had some help a while back brainstorming how there would be some form of "superior" dynamic could still exist and I really liked the idea given that he's a famous architect. (he does design all constructs for his city as a deity so it checks out - he likes buildings) And Deacon just admires all the guy's works and never expects to run into him but of course they do! Gotta have a very awkward "oh it's you I'm going to melt into the earth" and "I have no idea who you are but we should hang out".

Sooo Deacon still just really admires Ymber and feels like they're on totally different levels and doesn't understand why Ymber would want to associate with him since he's just a "boring human".

I can’t believe I’ve never completed a full picture of Amoré & Agatha, since she’s another NPC I tend to yoink for AUs a lot.

Anyways, this is the first addition to the character scrapbook that I never got around to drawing when it happened in session.

Amoré has a really complicated relationship with her (great 10x??) Aunt. She didn’t even know she existed until her parents sent her off to get some magic items appraised by a reclusive relation that lives in the woods.

Within half a day of being there, she got hit with the knowledge that this woman now has full guardianship duties over her. Despite the fact that Amoré had only seen her parents as a convenient but minor annoyance for many years, it still completely blindsided her that they could make this decision at all. And without her finding out until she was already out of the Estate.

This woman she barely knows somehow holds all the authority to strip her of her family name & status. She declares that Amoré has failed to perform well on a task she set for her, bringing into question her worthiness as the next heir to the Bellridge Legacy. She suspects that Amoré has lost her connection to her Angelic Guide, & is forcing her to face the reality of it.

Also…she stole two highly trained Bellridge staff & gave her Sylphi as collateral, which Amoré did not hesitate to make it known she found it to be “not a fair trade.”

After their first night in Agatha’s home, Amoré’s old nightmares begin to resurface after a few months of deceptive peace. And now she is torn between shoving away this woman who pokes mercilessly at her most tender wounds, & leaning on her as a source of support as the only person who could probably guide her through her broken Guide connection.

Too bad Amoré is allergic to asking for help ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

4. Greta: marlene is a fucking overpowered beanpole airhead knight with no sense of self-preservation. Well, on the outside at least, but that doesn't make it any less annoying. You could drop a mountain on her and she wouldn't notice. She doesn't hold her reputation for nothing, though, she wields a lot of power. She takes care of things important to her fiercely.

Marlene: greta is a very skilled mage and a healer, though her emphathy isn't exactly high... she holds a lot of knowledge and isn't afraid to use it, be it simple tricks or forbidden rituals. She's definetly someone to respect! She is very harsh with her words, and generally hates everyone by default. I'm an exception though. She tries to desperately hide it. I think it's kind of cute.

This was so hard and the text feels choppy ; ;... that's fine. A thing to remember is that from the perspective of Normal People™️ they are both horrible lol. My fucked up babies <33

27. They would, and have risked their lives for the other. They have also killed a whole bunch for eachother, but i'm not sure how much of a value that holds because neither of them has any sort of morality regarding that lol

📗 Do you want to write something outside of fanfiction? If so, what about?

my full-time job is writing! but fic allows me a creative, non-work outlet during my free time. I do have a few original fictional novel ideas in varying stages of planning/drafting, but I’ve been focusing on fic for the last year or so because it gives me a sandbox to practice & sharpen specific skills. I don’t have a grand dream of becoming a published author, but if I ever managed to polish a novel to the point of being really proud of it, maybe I’d seek out a lit agent

obviously I really enjoy the Ghost/Taryn fics I’m working on right now, but honestly, I think the most fun I’ve ever had writing fic was when I took a stab at Zoya’s POV in head on my heart (tell me we’re worlds apart). she just has this very biting, almost morose internal voice that was a nice change of pace for me

oh nooooo this is hard!! “favorite” can mean so many different things. I’m going to cheat a little bit & give a few answers

from a thematic standpoint, I’m proud of the following exchange from head on my heart (tell me we’re worlds apart) for what it represents in the overall story:

Weariness weighed on her. "A thorn wood is only ever a thorn wood, Nikolai." His lips against her collarbones were nearly a kiss. "That's precisely what I'm saying, Zoya."

it might not make sense out of context, but the skills I was focusing on in that fic were character voice + theme through a framing device, and I feel that ^ exchange near the end of the fic really captures what I was trying to do

from a purely prose/atmosphere standpoint:

Winter wanes. Life stirs deep in the belly of the earth and spring arrives quietly, a visitor padding through a snowfall. With spring comes the fest of Imbolc—the time of melting snow, blooming blackthorns, and ewes gone to milk. [this whole passage, actually, but I'm already stretching the prompt's "one line" limit haha] [from ch 4 of mniwyd]

on a character level:

Taryn stored up her worst memories of Locke the same way she stored up her best memories of Madoc. [from ch 8 of mniwyd]

Flit (ginger) finds an injured, stray cat and is like "aw poor little guy... let's see if my sister can help you" and so he takes the injured black cat to Fleet. Who is then "I have no idea how to heal a cat" and turns him into a human, heals him, and is ready to turn him back into a cat but then he's just "WAIT IF IM HUMAN I CAN HELP YOU! LEMME BE A HUMAN! I WANNA HELP YOU!" and Fleet looks to Flit who shrugs since it's hard being the only assistance to his sister. So he proceeds to name the guy Eureka and now Eureka refers to Flit as "master" and Fleet as "mistress".

And obsessively tries to help them. But he also talks a lot at times and Fleet gets frustrated and turns him back into a cat as punishment and he sulks off to cuddle next to Flit... who is unfortunately much more patient than Fleet so he's now just stuck with this cat-guy-hybrid obsessed with him. And he doesn't regret /helping/ the cat but .... Eureka is really clingy. So he's just resigned to having either a black cat in his lap or a man looming over him asking "whatcha doing, Master?" at all times.

With every new chapter I’m reminded how unique the dynamic between Curioso and the detective is. Like you can’t find a fic like this anywhere else and it’s fascinating!
