How would Mini Bruce react to Jason getting sent to Arkham or something in the antithesis of magic au? Say it was either before Bruce took up Mockingjay, or maybe he wasn't patrolling that night for some reason, and the bats caught Jason and throw him into Arkham. Would Bruce go after the bats? Or would he first try to break Jason out?

Mini Bruce is endlessly protective of Jason, so he’d definitely go for breaking him out first. And he’d succeed, because that kid is a menace AND a genius.

And after that the bats are free game and mini Bruce would have so much fun hounding them in all ways non-lethal lol ✨

of course!!! honestly i dont think ive made any new ones in particular since last year? with the amount i have atp i kinda go back and forth between new and old ones kjsdgkjsdhgs but i guess rafi and naomi would be the most recent that i actually do somewhat draw on occasion because otherwise a good chunk of them are just. kind of concepts i bounce around in my head jksdgjkhsdgsh

Is the cave Grian finds Scar in actually Scar's home? Like did he always live there? Or was he trapped there when he was muzzled or something?

I hadn’t really thought of it before, so it took me a minute to answer buuuuuuut—

I think, quite simply, Scar was ordered to stay there.

Scar is elusive when asked about what exactly he did to enrage the Watcher that cursed him, but They told him to stay here, (which luckily left enough room for interpretation so that Scar wasn’t forever trapped in place where he was standing…) and then trapped him in that cage gag “so he can’t trick anyone else into getting his way.”

The idea was to leave him trapped so that others could still seek him out— to use him and his magic— but with Scar being silenced so he can’t weave his webs of trickery.

Unless an order directly contradicts with the one given to trap him here, Scar is stuck within the confines of the cave.

So since Ymber wouldn't be a deity there are some things he lacks physically - such as no pointed ears and no bright blue undertones to his hair. Just the basic blue. (does he dye it in a modern AU ? who knows) Also while he doesn't have a collar to symbolize his servitude to humans I still think he should have a choker.

I had some help a while back brainstorming how there would be some form of "superior" dynamic could still exist and I really liked the idea given that he's a famous architect. (he does design all constructs for his city as a deity so it checks out - he likes buildings) And Deacon just admires all the guy's works and never expects to run into him but of course they do! Gotta have a very awkward "oh it's you I'm going to melt into the earth" and "I have no idea who you are but we should hang out".

Sooo Deacon still just really admires Ymber and feels like they're on totally different levels and doesn't understand why Ymber would want to associate with him since he's just a "boring human".

I’m back and as promised, more desert duo

As winter starts getting closer it becomes more common for the server to have more cold and rainy weather, which brings some consequences. If it starts raining with barely any prior warning, you can bet that once Grian gets back to his base he’ll get welcomed by Scar standing at the entrance holding a towel (which gets promptly throw at Grian’s face so he can dry himself) before they both find a good spot to deal with the wings. What they don’t tell you about dating an otherworldly being is that he’ll have way too many feathers (according to Scar) but oh well, they always figure something out don’t they?

Scar on the other hand is more likely to get caught on a storm because it didn’t look that bad and he’s only missing this little detail- So it’s always a welcome surprise when suddenly the rain stops pouring on his head thanks to an umbrella being held over his head, as Grian gives him time to wrap up the building for the day before they head home. Once back, it takes some work with the hairdryer before there is just a red-black-white fur ball getting to work on looking less puffy (Red panda Scar lives in my head rent free, but in my head he’s a shapeshifter so he can be anything he wants… kinda like Barbie y’know?)

ALSO, as much as I love angst, I feel like there is also a chance for nice interactions. Have you ever seen an oxpecker bird? The little guys that have a mutualistic relationship with hippopotamus? In my head that’s how MagicEater!Scar is, so once the hermits find out they’re mad but not because of what he is, rather because he couldn’t trust them enough to be himself… so he was surely surprised once the shulkers started to show up at Scarland, they were always filled with trinkets that smelt of love, that when Scar’s curiosity finally won over him the first thing he noticed after biting it was the blurring of his vision and something warm on his face? He didn’t know what the amulet he was currently chewing on had… was it fear? maybe damage over time? It really didn’t taste like any curse he had eaten before (they were the only constant food source he could find, no one wanted them like no one wanted a Magic Eater loose in their server. They tasted horrible.) and as the light warm feeling started to spread over him as a blanket on his shoulders it finally downed on him, it wasn’t a curse. If during the next meeting his eyes where glossy as his thanks were said in what was barely loud enough to be a whisper, no one would say anything as he got surrounded in a hug.

Grian wasn’t the best at enchanting things with blessings, as even though they were technically neutral deities it was more common for mortals to earn their wrath, but he can’t help but feeling the stumbling as he wove his magic to be worth it when he saw the smile Scar gave him each time. After all, his magic was quick to regenerate so he didn’t mind sharing it

I can’t believe I’ve never completed a full picture of Amoré & Agatha, since she’s another NPC I tend to yoink for AUs a lot.

Anyways, this is the first addition to the character scrapbook that I never got around to drawing when it happened in session.

Amoré has a really complicated relationship with her (great 10x??) Aunt. She didn’t even know she existed until her parents sent her off to get some magic items appraised by a reclusive relation that lives in the woods.

Within half a day of being there, she got hit with the knowledge that this woman now has full guardianship duties over her. Despite the fact that Amoré had only seen her parents as a convenient but minor annoyance for many years, it still completely blindsided her that they could make this decision at all. And without her finding out until she was already out of the Estate.

This woman she barely knows somehow holds all the authority to strip her of her family name & status. She declares that Amoré has failed to perform well on a task she set for her, bringing into question her worthiness as the next heir to the Bellridge Legacy. She suspects that Amoré has lost her connection to her Angelic Guide, & is forcing her to face the reality of it.

Also…she stole two highly trained Bellridge staff & gave her Sylphi as collateral, which Amoré did not hesitate to make it known she found it to be “not a fair trade.”

After their first night in Agatha’s home, Amoré’s old nightmares begin to resurface after a few months of deceptive peace. And now she is torn between shoving away this woman who pokes mercilessly at her most tender wounds, & leaning on her as a source of support as the only person who could probably guide her through her broken Guide connection.

Too bad Amoré is allergic to asking for help ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

📗 Do you want to write something outside of fanfiction? If so, what about?

my full-time job is writing! but fic allows me a creative, non-work outlet during my free time. I do have a few original fictional novel ideas in varying stages of planning/drafting, but I’ve been focusing on fic for the last year or so because it gives me a sandbox to practice & sharpen specific skills. I don’t have a grand dream of becoming a published author, but if I ever managed to polish a novel to the point of being really proud of it, maybe I’d seek out a lit agent

🦋 Which character is your favorite to write?

obviously I really enjoy the Ghost/Taryn fics I’m working on right now, but honestly, I think the most fun I’ve ever had writing fic was when I took a stab at Zoya’s POV in head on my heart (tell me we’re worlds apart). she just has this very biting, almost morose internal voice that was a nice change of pace for me

oh nooooo this is hard!! “favorite” can mean so many different things. I’m going to cheat a little bit & give a few answers

from a thematic standpoint, I’m proud of the following exchange from head on my heart (tell me we’re worlds apart) for what it represents in the overall story:

Weariness weighed on her. "A thorn wood is only ever a thorn wood, Nikolai." His lips against her collarbones were nearly a kiss. "That's precisely what I'm saying, Zoya."

it might not make sense out of context, but the skills I was focusing on in that fic were character voice + theme through a framing device, and I feel that ^ exchange near the end of the fic really captures what I was trying to do

from a purely prose/atmosphere standpoint:

Winter wanes. Life stirs deep in the belly of the earth and spring arrives quietly, a visitor padding through a snowfall. With spring comes the fest of Imbolc—the time of melting snow, blooming blackthorns, and ewes gone to milk. [this whole passage, actually, but I'm already stretching the prompt's "one line" limit haha] [from ch 4 of mniwyd]

on a character level:

Taryn stored up her worst memories of Locke the same way she stored up her best memories of Madoc. [from ch 8 of mniwyd]

i technically have two different aus im running currently!

one is puppet strings. after the last life game, with the rest of their series currently ended, the watchers decide they cant let their contestants go home when theyd have nothing interesting to watch, and bring them to a new game. this leaves grian (and by extension, pearl) confused by their motives... as both are new watchers who have no control over what the others do. it leaves them dealing whatever new tricks the watchers have up their sleeves

and the other is actually a couple years old but still dear to my heart! its deemed magical life and it starts in season 8, with gem and pearl learning exactly what all gems magical powers are capable of, and how its going to affect their lives

theres SO much lore i have for these two, i cant put it all here but if anyone has questions about one or the other i am SO down to explore it

With every new chapter I’m reminded how unique the dynamic between Curioso and the detective is. Like you can’t find a fic like this anywhere else and it’s fascinating!

Flit (ginger) finds an injured, stray cat and is like "aw poor little guy... let's see if my sister can help you" and so he takes the injured black cat to Fleet. Who is then "I have no idea how to heal a cat" and turns him into a human, heals him, and is ready to turn him back into a cat but then he's just "WAIT IF IM HUMAN I CAN HELP YOU! LEMME BE A HUMAN! I WANNA HELP YOU!" and Fleet looks to Flit who shrugs since it's hard being the only assistance to his sister. So he proceeds to name the guy Eureka and now Eureka refers to Flit as "master" and Fleet as "mistress".

And obsessively tries to help them. But he also talks a lot at times and Fleet gets frustrated and turns him back into a cat as punishment and he sulks off to cuddle next to Flit... who is unfortunately much more patient than Fleet so he's now just stuck with this cat-guy-hybrid obsessed with him. And he doesn't regret /helping/ the cat but .... Eureka is really clingy. So he's just resigned to having either a black cat in his lap or a man looming over him asking "whatcha doing, Master?" at all times.
