hi hello!! im not the greatest with theories, BUUUUT……

figured id throw my hat into the ring!!! basically for the past two days ive been mapping out a little… i honestly dont even know the term for it. ive called it a “theory web kind of thing, of sorts” for monkey wrench!! (however i feel as though that may not be the correct term to use, i dunno, it just doesnt sound right)

Idek like if this fits in this blog I don’t even use tumblr for the community; I use it for images and customization and whatnot but I’m accidentally 2 am doomscrolling and…

The transid stuff is truly baffling to me like it’s so beyond me. I dunno if it’s just a new breed of severe mental illness or if it’s just heaps of attention seeking. Either way from what I’ve seen it’s just plain. Just insane. I’m also confused as to what they even are? Are they trans identities as in genders? Or are they just throwing around the word trans because they’re privileged and just. Can?

Firstly, I am black and trans which comes with day to day struggles. I didn’t wake up and stretch and yawn and go yep I’m gonna be trans. If I had a choice, I wouldn’t be trans. I wouldn’t want to put myself through constant oppression just because of who I am and how I feel about my own body and how I want to present MYself. It’s painful and I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. So WHY are these people deciding they want to make their lives harder? Fully, consciously deciding that they want to change themselves purposely. Now I’ve always known I was trans but I didn’t always identify as trans because it didn’t feel right or I was scared to be judged. You cannot choose who you are but you can choose how you label yourself (which I’ve seen some crazy harmful stuff but that’s a different story.) So the fact that these people are CHOOSING to identify in ways that harm others and erase the trans community just does not make any sense to me.

Now. On to “transrace.” This has got to be some of the most privileged shit I’ve ever heard of in my life. I could probably guarantee you that a fat majority of these radqueers are white. Let’s say there’s a person who is white, but is deciding they want to say they’re black. Firstly, why??? I understand cultural appreciation but why do you want to change who you are to pretend to be someone else because there’s a “desire”? A desire to what? Be discriminated against no matter what? Not be able to graduate/get a job because of your natural hair? So on and so forth? I just don’t understand. These people are begging to be oppressed. And for what. What do they gain.

I don’t think I’ll ever understand, but I also think I’m fine with that. I don’t partake in discourse and I’m all for ‘to each his own.’ While I am not for people ignoring genuine harm being done (like the paraphiles or whatever they’re called aka groomers??? pedos??? traffickers????) I don’t believe that in the long run, it will affect either side. However. Transid people really do need to stop; especially ones acting on it in their actual.. away from the screen lives. I saw a post about a transid that revolves around intrusive thoughts. I suffer from intense intrusive and impulsive thoughts that often cause me to fall into intense episodes of mood swings, anger, confusion, depression, and more. I would NEVER romanticize these thoughts and make an identity for them. If it’s a coping mechanism, sure do whatever helps. But don’t bring that shit to others. Don’t glorify violent thoughts and mock real identities. It’s sickening.

I digress. Im stepping fully away from social media after tonight, but it was nice to be able to write this out and process how backwards we are evolving. Honestly, I will be fine with completely wiping the idea of transids away from my brain and continuing to lead a normal life.

TLDR:: I’m black and trans and I find radqueers/transids sickening, privileged, and harmful. Just my little tangents and tidbits on this subject that is quite new to me.

Bonus! I saw a genuine radqueer transid identity that was called “transartstyle.” Where one desires to have a different art style.

i do think that alot of the transid/abled etc. stuff is some kind of new either mental illness or some kinda coping mechanism (or hell maybe it just is privilege and attention seeking), something like biid in a way or maybe something even similar to munchausen syndrome but not exactly it either, still doesnt take the harm those lables do away theres other, less harmful lables out there.

Just blogging my socials here too. Dunno what the next big trend will be and it’ll be exhausting for some sites to keep up with. It’s all crazy right now.

Deviantart I have stored all my images because of the AI thing. Honestly even if they have changed the default for images we create to be auto permitted to AI whatever I have been slowly crawling away from the site anyways. It’s not what it used to be. Also just the user interface is annoying. I’m just tired of it. I’ll have it but I’m not going to maintain a lot of it anymore I don’t think.

Twitter, I have no damn clue. I literally have no clue what is going to happen with this dumpster fire of a site. It’s got issues and then more issues yet it’s been a popular platform because of the whole tumblrpocalypse back a few years ago. So uhhhhh ya.

Furaffinity, I’m honestly just ready to move on from it. I have nothing against it or furries. It’s just not what I want to be seen as or associated or adjacent of being a furry when I’m not. I have done so many commissions. Most was furry related and over time it’s just kind of been my own personal downfall to where I have hardly anything that’s me out there or what makes me, me. So I’m not pointing or blaming anyone but myself and just also due to life circumstances I have been nothing but grateful to the work I was able to do to get thru everything thanks to that site. I’m at point where I don’t need to rely so much on comms and I need to focus on myself and what art I want to do. So thanks for being there and getting me thru a lot of the crap back then and sort of still now too. I just need to spread my wings and reshape myself.

Tumblr I’m not sure yet how active I wanna be on here if nothing else pans out. It’s hard to get a following unless you do like fanart I feel like to gain traction it seems. Dunno yet.

Inkblot I just opened and I heard it’s still early in dev but like passable and it looks very promising. It’s just some bumps of user interface I have yet to explore and compare to others.

Instagram is whatever. Everyone knows it’s a dump of a site for backlog tik toks or snaps or art thieves and some backlog for some artists just to have a footprint on another checklist site to have.

ArtStation I feel like I’m waaaaay out of my league on there but once I build myself up better I will make it better.

I dunno if i’m allowed to add onto this, but i will anyways.

A lot of these reblogs seem to be stories told by adults about teenagers. i am a teenager, and holy shit this is right on the dot.

When I was only a couple years younger, I was a very extroverted kid. I shared with everyone about everything, and my biggest interests at the time were Harry Potter and Supernatural. I would sit with anyone who would listen and tell them about the entire plot, the characters and their character progression, what that meant for the story; Id show them fanart, tell them about different fan theories and which ones I thought were true and which ones I didn’t.

Now, if someone asks about the thing I’m interested in, I give them a couple basic facts/a simple description and move on. Because I know that’s all they want to hear. I *know* they’re not really interested.

And that applies to my opinions, too! Yes, I want to engage in conversation with my dad about politics (even though we’re on different sides). But I know he’ll dismiss all of my beliefs and points with a ‘Where did you learn this from’ (typically from Tumblr, a news article I don’t remember the source of, etc) or ‘Who’s putting these words in your mouth?’ Not only does this lead to me not conversing with him about politics, it leads me to not converse with *anyone* about politics.

Yes, I want to talk with my mom about my interests, but I know she’ll change the topic after a couple sentences, or the merest implication that i’m getting excited about the subject. So I just don’t tell her about my interests. I give her a ‘I got into a new show recently’ and she’ll give me a ‘oh yeah? what’s it called?’ and i’ll tell her. ‘what’s it about?’ ‘oh, it’s about these two people on opposite sides who fall in love, kinda like a romeo and juliet story, but it’s set in the apocalypse.’ ‘oh, okay. have you turned in your field trip permission slip yet?’

And on another note, I can confirm that teenagers are starved as hell for compliments. I messaged my guy friend one time telling him that he was a really important person and was super great to be around and he responded pretty soon after with something along the lines of ‘Holy shit thank you so much, no one’s ever told me something like that before, I feel like I really needed to hear this, I can’t tell you how happy this makes me, I’m putting this up on my wall etc etc’. It was the same thing with my peers, especially when i told them that their assignment/homework was really well done. On another note, I think the whole reason some kids are judgmental of others is because they grew up learning that being different meant being wrong, and they *do not want to be wrong. They want other people to like them.*

Gonna be honest, the entire reason I gave out compliments for a while was in the hopes that someone would compliment me back. I would regularly care about my self image because I wanted people to tell me ‘I like your outfit!’ ‘You look really pretty today!’

People care about others approval. People want to be seen and acknowledged and asked questions, especially teenagers who are now getting a shitload of responsibility dumped on their shoulders and want to be told that they’re doing *something* right. We want to be told that we’re not complete fuck-ups. We want to be seen and heard because we’re growing up and that means that we’re finally going to matter to society and to the world. We’re finally going to have a purpose.

And sure, there’s probably a lot of teenagers who would fight me on this and say ‘no, that’s not how i think’. And no, it might not be. But I can guarantee you this: those teenagers who don’t want to her what *you* have to say? Who say they don’t care about opinions? Who scorn adults and yet want to be them so vehemently? They grew up in a world where if anyone they respected or was older than them had an opinion regarding them, it was going to be negative or, at best, neutral. So no, they dont care what you have to think about them, because it’s not going to be something nice. They think that even if they were to try there’d be no acknowledgment for themselves, and that’s *fucking true*. Because who’s gonna acknowledge a teenager?

Hell, I bet a lot of you would disregard this post if you even learned my age.

Anyways, that’s all I’ve got to say. Be nice to kids, folks. They sure as hell fucking need it.

Recently I updated my portfolio website domain (www.starsbegantofall.com) in the very event that social media and web 2.0 fails (Cassandra is my middle name (no it’s not)). Please add my blog to your feed reader or bookmarks, I don’t have a newsletter yet because I don’t know how to make it work. My goal is to update at minimum twice a month, one post with the monthly artwork and one post with a general update that I felt worth archiving. I haven’t been able to migrate my other blogs and still not sure I want to, but I will also start posting on J-fashion and similar reference-heavy, image-heavy, long-form writings to my domain first, then link to it at social media sites (whenever they work).

Speaking of, I did not technically succeed in the monthly art for June lmao. I wasn’t even that busy, I was just drained from work and any bit of energy I had was reserved for cosplay for the June and July cons (not sure if I will be going to any other cons the rest of the year unless someone takes me). I just did a little sketch in a moleskin notebook at midnight because every attempt to draw on clip studio had failed previously.

Speaking of again... I posted a very long post about my Xinyan cosplay and I just finished second in progress cosplay for Okashi-con the next weekend. I’m super excited to wear it, it looks so good, even better than I could have hoped. There are a few bits I probably could redo for sturdiness but I dunno how, so it’s fine for now.  So I guess cosplay took place of drawing this month lol.

Those are the main things going on in my life right now, everything else is just work and food and sleep related, which happens when you’re over 40 years old and your body has been wrecked by capitalism and you have no hope for the future but you have to pretend you do.

“Meet loaf, “ Gabriel says, leaning a Jack of Hearts into a 5 of Clubs, “Jelly.” 

Gabriel leans an Ace of Spades to one side of them next, and on the other, a Queen of Diamonds. Gabriel waves a hand expansively. Sam nods and is careful to lay down his 4 of Hearts.  It comes to him a little late—he tilts his head to the side and scrunches up his nose. 

“That’s not a thing.” Sam says.

Sam’s hand twitches for emphasis and they both hold their breath. He offers an apologetic smile. Gabriel glares back at him, but repeats his processes without admonishments. 

“Oh, it’s a thing, Sambo. And just like your little hot take there, it’s truly unforgivable.”

Sam rolls his eyes and purposefully forgets to be gentle with the next card he lays. The entire south-west wing wobbles and shifts and they are watching without blinking before it stabilizes again. 

“You love Donna.”  Sam says when it’s safe to move.

“And you loooooove being wrong.”  Gabriel says, creating a spiral in cards. Sam does his paneling after him.  

“It’s got more of a story, though. And I dunno, character growth?” 

“Cringey, mockumentary style humor was conceived and birth from the womb of one Michael Scott.” 

 Gabriel’s squatting down so he’s at eye level with the table, looking for flaws. He finds a 7 of Hearts threatening to fly from its post because of the damn ceiling fan and reinforces it with two suits cards. He snaps and there’s a disco ball where the fan once was. Sam doesn’t even blink as yellow and gold and purple dance across his skin. 

“I really don’t enjoy that mental image you painted.” Sam says, “But anyway, sure he wrote the rules, but come on, Knope perfected the game!”

Sam lays his last card down. He raises his brows and stuffs his hand in his pockets. Gabriel shrugs, gives him a look that says it could be worse and kicks Sam’s shin. Sam puts his arms out. Gabriel turns into Sam, taking ahold of his wrists and pulling, until Sam’s arms hook tightly across his middle like the safety bars of an amusement park ride.

“She was the worst. Oh, she was bad. Terrible. Could not stand her.” Gabriel says, craning his neck. 

“You have a cardboard cut-out from her mayoral campaign—that you had Amy Poehler sign—at a Parks and Rec meet and greet—that you bought tickets for.”

“Only because I love Parks and Rec. It’s called being multifaceted, Sam, try it.”

“Burnt all my energy trying to understand you. And this. It’s mostly mojo, isn’t it?” Sam narrows his eyes. 

“Just kept thinking, WWDD?”

Sam considers the Quidditch pitch and defense towers. They’re all mildly extraordinary in that way that just means looks really cool, but also easily explained. Then he scrutinizes every rounded turret and their improbable pointed tops. Sam really wasn’t paying attention for most of the build, but those—with the card Whomping Willow he’s just noticed that has started to thrash—are definitely zhooshed up by magic.  

“Dumbledore, huh? Let some sketchy people into the castle. Make some hefty omissions about his past. Maybe he’d manipulate and endanger a few kids, but I dunno, have’t read it for a while so some details are hazy.” Sam shrugs. 

“You’re not a wizard, Harry.”

The best thing about categories like Sburb Titles is that once you have a big enough sample size of Person/Category mappings, you can extrapolate their traits to any character you like. 

Example: I got an ask a while back asking whether I have any Titles for my own OCs, and to be totally honest I can’t stop thinking about it

Oh, that is awesome. I’m bookmarking that for reference, when I’ve finished the comic. Biology is not my strongest suit, but I do find it fascinating, and speculative biology is my jam. 

It’s a balancing act, trying to make a quirk both unique and readable. i thought about a capitalization quirk WHERE i only capitalize common programmINg keywORds, but it looks kind of funky, and I wasn’t sure how to define what keywords to include.

Man, I’m really mad I missed the Club Penguin craze, because if I’d played it, I would absolutely have answered this ask with penguin designs for each of the kids. 

Classic Tumblr. When you edit you blog description in the appearance editor, it actually scrubs all the HTML you added, and replaces it with plaintext. To update your description properly, you need to do it in the theme editor. 

I fixed the blog description on desktop, but I don’t think it ever worked on mobile, since tags generally don’t work properly on the app. I think it should work if you access the blog through say, Firefox, rather than the app itself?

That’s one of my favorite anime tropes, and it’s vary Homestuck-friendly, considering how many characters are bespectacled. I’m glad that my ‘sona is continuing this proud tradition. 

Thank you!  I think a big part of it is just that Homestuck happens to deal with stuff I’m really into. I love time travel and alt-self/identity shenanigans, so I was already looking at the Paradox Clone system from every angle even before the Veil. Once that cursor targeted Nanna, a lot of things immediately clicked into place. 

I didn’t see the paired tubes coming, though. I don’t think I’ll ever forget that moment. 

Maid! That was the first class I chose for myself, because I liked the connotations around ‘organizing’. 

I’m planning on doing a bunch of Title tests over the weekend. The Official Sally Classpect will be an open question for a long time, but I am interested in how much the various tests will agree. 

We’ve already talked a bit about it on the blog, but Homestuck is a kind of meta story on a lot of levels. 

We saw it with the reader suggestions at first, but there are other things too, like Hussie’s narration interacting with WV. Is that ‘canon’, per se? Much to think about...

Hussie is very good at turning on the waterworks. It doesn’t happen much in Homestuck, but when it does, it hits hard. 

True, true. But that was just John’s opinion - now Hussie’s narration is saying she sucks!

These guys really have been great recently. It’s like Hussie has spent a while giving them improvised character traits based on reader commands, and now that their personalities are fully established, they’re actually getting full arcs with awesome moments of development. 

I honestly can’t wait to see what the Windswept Questant’s real plan is. She’s abdicated to PM, and seems to be putting a team together. Did she know WV had the Ring all along? What’s up next?

1. Qi Ye (Lord Seventh) by Priest - ah the infamous prequel to TYK. I initially wanted to read it only to get to know Zhou Zishu’s past, but the more glimpses of Jing Beiyuan and Wu Xi I’ve seen in the fandom, the more I wanted to read it just for them. And oh boy did I enjoy. It wasn’t the easiest to read though, ngl. So Many Politics. And scheming. I love jby so much, what a mood. Anyway, I’m happy I read this novel for multiple reasons. And now I’m writing a xiyuan fic :’) help

Now, what’s on the list to go:

2. Reread Tian Ya Ke (Faraway Wanderers) by Priest - I planned to reread it for a long while, once I finish Qi Ye (I’ll do so after being done with that xiyuan fic). I’m so excited for it, to see the wenzhou disaster pair in a new light and catch all the details which I missed during my first read. But my other goal is to refresh the image of TYK characters before going back to my wenzhou fics and continuing a few WIPs which have been rotting in my folder :’)

3. Liu Yao: The Revitalization of Fuyao Sect by Priest - I’ve seen so much art and it looks incredibly fun, I simply cannot resist.

4. Zhen Hun (Guardian) by Priest - I want to get to know it, after seeing it around in the fandom. Quite a few things ticked off the checklist of my tastes 👀 

5. Qian Qiu (Thousand Autumns) by Meng Xi Shi - I don’t know if I need to say why it’s here. Just good stuff.

6. Of all the Transmigrations, why am I a Prisoner? by 1111 - I’ve seen nice art from nightjar-draws and ohohsomething which coax me 👀 

7. The Magnus Archives - not really a book as it’s a podcast, but I will probably follow a transcript and it’s only words, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It’s been haunting me since I got pulled into wwdits and then made that one fatal post which blew up in TMA tumblr fandom. So I’m thinking of giving it a try out sometime this year, maybe when I need a change from danmei works.

8. A volume of poetry - still haven’t decided which one, I have a few at home which I read years ago or haven’t touched at all. I recently realised that although I’ve been writing stuff which could be considered poetry, I haven’t really Read (with Thoughts and some Analysis) any poetry since I finished school. So I wanna try reconnecting with that. Candidates from my shelves are: Wisława Szymborska, Leopold Staff, Czesław Miłosz.

9. Leaving space for whatever I’ll need to consume for the master’s thesis, most likely stuff on biometrics and maybe neural networks :’)

Just wanna say, "intend [to read]" is a big word here, because that's quite a few titles, while I'm not only busy but also take long breaks between the series whenever I get inspired enough to produce some writing (that's exactly what happened after TYK last year and what's happening now after Qi Ye). Welcome to this reopening starting from zero.

Some people told me I could do it, I wasn't particularly excited about starting from zero, but I honestly can't tear myself away from Tumblr despite being a hypocritical son of a bitch. I'm not going to make announcement on my old account, if you find me and follow me, thanks, but no more. I know that marking a tumblr as "mature" is because of complaints they make about my drawings, so I know that at least someone who hates me and loved sending me anonymous asks with nasty comments could be behind this. It's not a matter of misleading anyone with the new tumblr, it's pretty obvious who I am, but the longer we can leave the hater away the better. The rest, thank you if you've followed me again. I will state the following: Most of my drawings are Lex drawings, born from his version of Smallville but which I ended up adapting pretty much to me. I'm quite a fan of the Clex, so I'll upload content of said, also Bruce x Lex or anyone that at the time I can think of that would be a perfect match for Lex. Same with any character, I'm a multishiper, I rarely shipe straight couples so it's very likely that all my content will be gay (homo or lesbian). I won't upload any drawings that break the archaic social parameters of acceptable social behavior, hence, I abide by caveman thinking: nothing that shows too much, nothing that "escapes" the heteronormative understanding of dress. Everything "normal" (what a boring normality these people have, it should be noted). Sure, they'll eat any "pretty" image of Clex, so fuck that, so much filter I don't have. What do you use to edits gifs? I really wanna get into this kinda thing but I dunno what program or website people tend to use

I'm old fashioned, so I mostly use Adobe CC 2017 or Adobe CS6 (if i need to do an old effect / function which isn't avaliable in newer versions) There are some online editors, but I do not find them suitable from tumblr format. Like, i’m sure they are fine if you just want make gifs / use gifs for other sites  But for the most part all of the internet moved pasted GIF format cause it’s dated and it’s heavy - which is bad for mobiles and stuff. BUT ANYWAY Also - it's always morally correct to pirate adobe products, just saying

I use the second option because it's easier, the newer version of photoshop always have this feature and because it's great for video games.

You can look at first option, but honestly, unless you're giffing animation / animes / some HD films from BLU-ray, I found the first method to be too much time consuming (in my opinion.)

I can't explain all of the stuff, but things you need to consider when it comes to quality of GIFs:

a) getting footage; while clips from youtube is an easy way of founding a needed stuff (or if, let's say, a console game you can't capture) - but there's the catch, youtube eats all the quality of video because of compression. even 1080p clips do look bad on BIG gifs - EXAMPLE OF MINE (made during time when bayo1 didn’t had PC port) - and most of the footage either has watermark or SUBTITLES (which are pain in the ass when you want to put subtitles yourself - you cut like 45% of the bottom and it’s not great)  ideally - you want to capture stuff yourself, even more ideally - capture stuff with OBS or bandicam which do not compress your footage and the output image is great, NVIDIA capture feature is an okay option, but it has a bit of compression - but honestly, not the worst option, it’s definetly a more safe option for your hard drive capacity i reached that point, when i started giffing specific scenes of bayo2 - i freaking emulated the game, terribly, but did so cause youtube just doesn’t provided what i wanted  like, you can use capture device, but i ain’t spending money on that unless i’ll be a streamer or idk content creator (but forget about that) 

b) coloring is your bread and butter; for the most part, even not that great of quality gif can be saved by coloring / adjusting brightness / levels and all of that. as an easy example, THIS SET, was taken from basic 1080p footage, but because i softed colors, almost all video compression is gone  cause when you loo at something LIKE THIS SET, man, this was not a great time for coloring it looks bad

or an example like THIS SET, that trailer is DO DATED that there’s just no HD version of it and you can see pixels, it’s bad in original game and looks even worse compressed that even coloring didn’t do much while starting, you can always use PSDs / colorings created by people - I suggest going into searching on tumblr in general or CHECKING THIS (it’s outdated, but some stuff is still avaliable) or even just do basic adjustement it’s fine. but eventually, you’ll just starting creating and doing it yourself, because it’s just simply easier.  c) tumblr compression / limiting; this site changed a lot, not only gifs automatically converts to gifvs (it’s like a video of your gif, again, done for mobile) and unless you have extension that gets rid of that, nothing u can do about it

but currently all you need to know is that: at the moment tumblr limit of giz size is 8MB, if you got past that - the gif is not gonna work. (and it loads badly, it was bad even before, but tumblr is a mess if saying it easy)

Honestly and that’s all I can say. it’s gonna be rough at the start, but eventually and quite quick you get the hand of it, you even might find a more suitable way for you to gif or color stuff or sharpen your gifs (that’s another whole story) If you look back at my old stuff from freaking 2013 from my main blog - enjoy the ride (82 pages!!) - it wasn’t looking great and it took some time for sure to start making progress and be better at that or even just for this blog in particular - half the less pages than on main - but i still chagned a lot in my “style” of editing and colorings

But most importantly - just have with it, it’s not the most enjoyable ride, considering this site history, but I still find it a enjoyable hobby :)

UNCLE GAMER STUFF #23

So here’s the thing... sometimes I just pick stuff up because I have some sort of familiarity with the media and the stuff I see is like... it makes me go long pointy cartoon eyes at it.  This is one of those things.  Have I watched a ton of Red Dwarf?  No, but I’ve seen some of it, and it’s hilarious!  Have I played lots of table top games?  No, I’ve played a single campaign with a friend group one time ever, and it was fun!  But THIS?  A RED DWARF TABLE TOP RPG?  Man I dunno, that’s great.  I’ll never play it.  It’s still awesome.

As a result I can’t give any actual commentary on this other then holding my arms out like that one Will Smith image and just being all “LOOK!  THIS IS A THING THAT EXISTS!  I KNOW FOR SURE BECAUSE I BOUGHT IT!”  So do that, look at it, enjoy that it is a thing that exists.

And if the galaxies align and you’re the one person in the world who’s played this and uses tumblr and see’s this post well, fuck, tell me!  Is it good?  Is it a thing?  Was it funny?  I gotta imagine with how zany table top stuff can get with neutral core material that you can get pretty insane when your core material is absurd to start with.

A RED DWARF TABLE TOP RPG I DON’T EVEN

What are your favorite fights from each anime iteration of Dragon Ball? (DB/Z/GT/Super etc. Yknow lol) I’m curious!

This is a good ask, anon. Just wanted to point it out.

I'm not sure how long a list I want to make for this, because if I really go nuts with this I'll probably end up covering like 75% of the fights in the franchise. But I don't want to just pick one favorite fight from each series, because that feels too short. Tell you what, let's just play it by ear and see how this goes. I won't bother ranking these, because I'm not sure I can.

OG Dragon Ball

1) Goku vs. Jackie Chun, 21st World Tournament final

2) Goku vs. Tien Shinhan, 22nd World Tournament final

3) Goku vs. Piccolo Junior, 23rd World Tournament final.

We'll start with these, because they're tentpole moments for the series, and they define Goku's character arc so well. The Jackie Chun fight was pretty short, but it was really the first big fight in the franchise, and it set the tone for all the later battles to follow. What makes it work is how Chun is determined to keep Goku from winning, not for his own sake, but because he thinks Goku will lose interest in martial arts if he wins a big tournament on his first try. Chun entered as a ringer, but he finds Goku a lot harder to stop than he expected, and the match very nearly ends in a draw.

So you'd think Goku would be a shoo-in at the next tournament, but he has to get through Tien for that, and Tien turns out to be extremely tough and he wants to murder Goku to avenge his master's brother. It's an awesome fight, made more awesome by the way Tien's character arc begins to overtake the action itself. He starts out wanting Goku dead, then decides he'd rather fight fair because he enjoys the competition too much.

So by the time we get to the 23rd tournament, the contest itself feels like an afterthought. This is just the venue for the more important showdown between Goku and Piccolo. Except Goku still wants that World title. It means a lot to him, and no one else seems to get that. Through this whole arc, everyone is scared shitless of Piccolo, worrying that Goku might not be able to beat him. But Goku has a game plan, and he sticks to it and powers on through to victory. And yet it's still this insanely close match. I dare say this is the most even battle in the franchise, but Goku seems like an underdog to start out, and by the end of it, you see that he had things under control the whole time.

4) Goku vs. Red Ribbon Army HQ

5) Goku vs. King Piccolo

6) Goku vs. Grandpa Gohan

I guess you can call these #reference fights, because when I rewatched these episodes in 2019, I noticed how much they resembled battles I've written in to my big-ass OC fanfic. Goku just charging headlong into an army base is sort of the prototype for Saiyan mayhem, and when I started writing Luffa I quickly realized that this would have to be the sort of combat she'd be used to. There's no Vegeta or Perfect Cell to tackle a thousand years ago. She's got no rival, so her best bet is to fight large armies single-handedly, as Goku does here.

Likewise, I ended up inventing a lot of villains who think themselves invincible, only to get knocked on their ass when they find out how vincible they really are. King Piccolo's meltdown during this battle is a sight to behold, because once he starts losing, all he knows how to do is talk about his fearsome reputation, except it's completely hollow when the other guy is feeding you a can of whoop-ass. He just doesn't know how to process this beating, and that's always left an impression with me.

Let's just say, hypothetically speaking, that you had this character who has some relation to another character, and gosh, wouldn't it be nice if they could meet and fight each other, and one of them could leap forward beyond their natural lifespan to make that happen? I dunno, maybe it'd be kind of emotional? I haven't actually written anything like that so far, but if I ever do, it'll probably resemble Goku vs. Grandpa Gohan quite a bit.

Dragon Ball Z

1) Goku vs. Vegeta

I mean, what else can you say here? This one's a classic.

2) Anybody vs. Cell, pretty much.

Obviously, the Goku and Gohan fights from the Cell Games are the best of the best, but Cell's entire run in DBZ is awesome, including the fights he has with Vegeta, Trunks, Android 16, Piccolo... you just can't lose. I could go on, but I don't want to get too far down this one category.

3) Pikkon vs. Goku.

This one gets dunked on a lot because it's filler, but it's excellent. Just a friendly competition where everyone's dead and there's nothing at stake but bragging rights and fighting spirit. Pikkon's a brilliant opponent and Goku has to find a way to beat him, and that's really all the story you need, sometimes.

4) Goku-Vegeta II

This one's a bit wonky because there's no clear-cut winner and the Buu crisis overshadows it, and it doesn't quite hold up compared to the original Goku/Vegeta fight, but it's still awesome, because of the buildup and also a lot of the intensity. It kind of functions as a coda to the Androids/Cell Saga, where both guys were Super Saiyans but they never got a chance to duke it out. As it turns out, they're so evenly matched that it kind of works against the fight. One of them does a big move, and the other one just shrugs it off like nothing happened. In a way it's kind of the opposite of the Goku/Piccolo fight. When it's a couple of Super Saiyan 2's, there's just no way for anybody to pull ahead, and ultimately their battle takes on a very tragic tone, which is awesome.

5) Majin Buu vs. Everybody in Season 9.

Okay, apparently Tumblr won't let me post any more images, but that's cool, you all know what Buu looks like. I remember flipping through an issue of Beckett DBZ Collector at the grocery in 2003 or 2004, and it did this top ten fights article, with this as #1. I just liked the sheer gall of counting the entire Fusion and Kid Buu Sagas as one big fight. But let's face it, it works. From the moment Evil Buu shows up to the Spirit Bomb finale, it's basically nonstop action for Majin Buu, as he takes on one opponent after another in a zany gauntlet. And sure, I'd probably say Vegito and SSJ3 Goku were my favorite portions of that larger battle, but it's tough to isolate any one section.

Dragon Ball GT: There were no good fights in GT.

Dragon Ball Super

1) The Tournament of Power.

I suppose this also counts as one big battle, although my absolute favorite part is when Caulifla and Kale battle Goku and he ends up using Ultra Instinct to beat them.

There's also a lot to be said for Vegeta vs. God of Destruction Toppo, and the whole endgame with Jiren against Goku, 17, and Frieza. Oh, and the part where Universe 9 gets wiped out in one episode.

For my money, Dragon Ball Super doesn't really get off the blocks until the Tournament of Power begins, which has always frustrated me about DBS. It's basically one really good run of episodes at the tail end of an otherwise lackluster series. The U6 tournament was pretty weak and the Zamasu/Goku Black saga was downright pathetic.

Movie-wise... let me see here. Mystical Adventure had some good action, Dead Zone, Cooler 1, Super Android 13, Broly 1, Fusion Reborn and Wrath of the Dragon were classics, and Battle of Gods and Super Broly had some excellent fights too.

And yeah, I think that about covers it.

I feel like with how much he always has those headphones on, he probably has a range of music. From pop, indie, alternative, etc. He probably doesn’t really care much about lyrics and the meaning, though I don’t think he’d really vibe with songs that are explicit, as in sex lol, unless it’s something that’s more abstract yknow. He’s also not opposed to them either though. Just not preferred? I think if they just have a good beat or the melody fits with his current vibes at the time it’ll work. It’s funny that I don’t really write for Tsukki that much but I wanted to make his playlist first.

I think he has different playlists for what he’s doing at the time. If he’s on his way to school, and Yamaguchi isn’t with him, he’s probably listening to something upbeat to wake himself up. After practice on his way home, he’s probably listening to something chill to just relax after grueling practice.

Definitely has music based on his moods. I also feel like he has a preference towards indie music?? I have no clue why but I just feel like he does. He also probably has a few artists he keeps an eye on for when they have new releases but he isn’t obsessed with just one artist (Indigo la End is one of the artists I think he’d like). There are definitely songs on here he’d rather die than have his team know he listens to, Yuwakuno Party being one of them.

Out of the entire team, I think you’d be better off asking Tsukki (or Suga) for song recs. But it’s only a matter of whether or not he’ll give you them.

He probably listens to either hip hop, pop, rock, or the cute love songs (sad/angst or the good one’s he likes both). LOL Not that love is it’s own genre it’s just, they’re good. He likes it, any type of genre. Of course, whenever he’s the DJ for the day, he makes sure he doesn’t play cute love songs, cus he’s got an image to uphold, ya know?

I ALSO feel like he likes rap music? My friend and I were talking about that so like owo I think he and Noya have the same music tastes as well but I’ll probably only put one or two songs that are the same for either.

He doesn’t organize his playlists very well. I’m sorry. I just feel like he doesn’t?? But he knows which playlists are for what. They definitely range from playlists he listens to when he thinks about Kiyoko (or you heheh) to whichever he wants to listen to and that one playlist somehow has the songs, and the only songs he wants to listen to at that moment. Actually, there should be a correction, it’s not organized well to people who look at his playlists but it’s organized to himself.

I also think he’s a big fan of JPOP groups. I think he’d probably be a fan of Nogizaka46, and this is where he and Noya will probably have a disagreement (but they still listen to the other’s favorite jpop group because its still good music ya know). Sad uwu

I feel like Noya listens to pop, rock, indie, and like Tanaka the cute love songs and rap songs :3c. I want to say that Noya’s the one that finds the various love songs and gives Tanaka the recommendations. The song genre I think that was playing during that one episode where Ukai had videos of everyone and it was Nishinoya’s video, I think that was rock?? So that’s where the whole rock genre comes from anyway so lol.

In terms of a JPOP group I think he’s a fan of, it’d be AKB48 who are rivals with Nogizaka46 lul. And look, I want to say when I was researching into the music culture in Japan, it’s usually the girls that are fans of JPOP groups? But, I feel like Tanaka and Noya would be fans of them ;-;

I think Noya either organizes his playlists like in a keyboard smash all caps, and only he knows, or there’s just a bunch of playlists that are like “new Playlist” or whatever the defaults are loool.

Suga doesn’t really care which kind of songs he listens to. He likes them all. I feel like he leans towards “softer” songs, whatever that means, though I tried putting in a range of songs for this mixtape. Maybe I’m projecting here because I love Suga and I see a lot of myself in him, but he just likes the chill music. Which is funny because of how feral he could be. He definitely has songs he listens to that are more upbeat though. I also think he likes rap. But like I said, I don’t think he really has a preference of what genre of songs he listens to.

He has multiple playlists, from what he’s feeling mood, what activity he’s doing (working out, homework, cooking, etc.), to just what he wants to listen to at the time. Which means that playlists changes a lot because of how much he deletes and adds so he can have “atm vibes”. I think he also gives them funny names, maybe throwing in emoticons so some people don’t know what playlist is for what but he does!

I think Suga would give great music recs too. He has range so he can give anything for any genre. I think out of everyone here, Suga has to be the best DJ. He just knows what songs to play that fits best with the group and the vibe that’s going on.

OKAY so it’s already been confirmed that Hinata reads manga. I dunno how into it he is but I feel like it’s more lowkey than Tendo and also because I feel like he does spend more time with volleyball. But I also think he still does watch anime every now and then and his little sister probably watches a lot of Sailor Moon so he’s bound to have watched that too. Like that’s so cute I love sailor moon. If you don’t know what I’m trying to get at, I want to say that his playlist does consist of anime openings and endings. BECAUSE THEY’RE GOOD OKAY.

I also think maybe Vocaloid?? Like maybe he finds a few vocaloid songs because he found it through youtube recommend when he listened to anime openings and stuff. But otherwise, I think as he and his sister gets older he probably listens to what his sister does because sometimes he’s just too busy to find music (which is valid because I know my brother’s music that he plays and whenever I play something new all of a sudden it’s on his playlist, i’m also the younger one)? Or he listens to whatever is in passing (like what his friends listen to) or, again, anime openings and endings.

He probably kinda attempts to organize his playlists at first but eventually he gave up? So he probably just listens to whatever is on his library of songs and skips whatever songs he’s not feeling. If he does organize anything, it’s by songs from who recommended it or where he heard it from. Like anime songs, or songs heard from natsu, or suga, etc.

Been a while since I was on tumblr, oof. When I aligned the characters I was looking at who fit which personality best. I’m not real big on the BlackarachniaxMegatron ship but BA as Haggar was far too good to pass up. So just imagine her as she was in the beginning of the show before it was revealed they were a broken family unit. Or not, up to you guys. This AU all happened in one night and then I forgot about it, lol. Starscream would end up being Megatron’s son. By whom, I do not know. So, no Megascream for this AU, sorry guys. Team Prime does have some assigned character swaps. The designs I made were meant to come in a whole batch of images but I never finished the con side of things. To be honest, I’m more into cons than bots and the similarities between Megatron and Zarkon had me going so I never got everyone fully sorted. That said: Team Prime would fill the role of the Paladins. It might very well end up being mixed too, more like ye olde Voltron was, just because I have a wicked fun idea about Bumblebee being a half breed like Ezor and stationed among the Blade of Marmora. I know the colors of Voltron align with specific ideals but it’s been a hot minute since I watched the show. For now, based off shared body types, Bulkhead probably tanks with the Yellow Lion and might even be Balmoran? I forget what that species is called. Optimus leads with the Black Lion, Ratchet is either support in the Castle of Lions or he flies the Red Lion because... colors, shrugs. He’s red, Red Lion I dunno. Prowl is green because nature vibes. If Bumblebee joins the Paladins that would make him Blue, unless Ratchet stays support and then he’d be Red I think. Orrrrr, Sari could be on the team as blue. Sari would still be Sumdac’s daughter, still adopted. She’s from Earth but I’ll probably make her a cyborg. I guess she ends up with Pidge’s backstory, looking for her father who was captured by the Galra. Or maybe she has more of a Star Lord backstory and, while from Earth, got lost in space at some point then adopted by Sumdac. The Alteans never died and they make up the bulk of the other ‘Bot characters. Ultra Magnus is Altean, maybe Blurr too I dunno. Rodimus is probably Altean, picture that elf archer look. Sounds nice, aye. I just realized I forgot Soundwave existed. Again. Oof. TFA Soundwave isn’t a huge character in the show, sorry guys, my bad. Emmmmm. Oh right. This whole thing was inspired by Pastel’s art of Kolivantok where... Kolivan? The one with the mask, looked reminiscent of Lugnut. Shockwave was meant to take Haxxus’s place but it was easier to fake his design with Narti and the blind bit made it so I can maybe nerf him as a spy. Galra seem like the type to be ableist, wasn’t that a plot point somewhere on the show? I dunno. OHHH also, the Seeker Clones would fill the roles of Lotor’s generals, not as clones, but as separate characters. Maybe they’re related maybe not, depends on whether you want to maintain trines for this AU I guess. Don’t ask me what Stryka’s doing, she’s probably a general in Megatron’s army. Anyways, Shockwave as strictly communications officer at High Command means I can send Blitzwing and Lugnut to infiltrate the Blade of Marmora. Lugnut can get his mask and the visual similarities will be complete. At first their mission is to infiltrate and destroy but as they rise the ranks Blitzwing starts spending perhaps a little too much time with a short n’ spunky member and yup that’s Bumblebee. Defection is likely and I low key wonder if Lugnut will go with. Galra empire got hecced in the show later on so maybe Stryka wavers too. Welp, there ye go. Stryka leads resistance at the Kral Zera with the backing of the Blade of Marmora. Lugnut can fill a diplomacy role between them. Again I picture Bumblebee as being more like Ezor, a Galran half-breed but maaaaaybe more yellow than pink. Who knows, tis fun thought.

I’m considering doing a Patreon and I wanted to know how you’d feel about it.

Like, I really love all the support my Ko-fi has gotten but I think their minimum is like $3, right? and I’m not really putting anything up there.

Basically this is where I’m at right now.

I can’t put my nsfw stuff up on Tumblr, so all of it would be censored and the full images would be on Patreon for $1 patrons. I’d be doing a minimum of 1 nsfw pic per month. (everything already on my Pixiv would stay there for free.)

$5 patrons would probably get access to all of my WIP sketches and unfinished projects that I never end up completing. And that’s a lot of content.

At the moment, I’m thinking of allowing $10 patrons one sketch request per month, but that might go up depending on how many people are interested, cuz at the moment I can’t do one sketch a day. But holy shit, if I was getting 30 $10 patrons every month, that’s kinda different... I dunno.

This wouldn’t be just for Obey Me, I might branch into other fandoms or my own personal work. Like I said, I’m not sure what I’m gonna be doing yet. I’m gonna check out other peoples’ Patreons and see what they’re doing. I’m also going to be looking into anti-theft measures to make sure that Patreon leeches don’t take my shit and post it up for free.

And in advance, I’m sorry if it feels like I’m only doing this for money now, but I am crazy fucking poor and I support my husband who is a disabled vet. I’m gonna TRY to make this work with my 40-hr job and my writing. We’ll have to see.
