stan having severe issues from his dad and those years of being homeless that we keep on getting more info on but never really getting confronted on (the drifter catalogue and tijuana incident...), him being completely alone for like twenty years when running the shack before soos comes along to the point that 1998 is noted as his low point, and him not really learning about bill+what he did to ford until ages after he killed him if he ever did get the full context

while i think amnesia and everyone seeing him as a hero actually helped with stan's 'i'm a worse version of my brother' thing its still a lingering issue too and we now got him being insecure over his own hands

ford being immediately thrown from 'being tortured by bill' to 'being stuck in the multiverse and being chased by bounty hunters constantly', him fully expecting himself to die when destroying bill, and him only now being safe for the first time in 30 years ....relatively safe, he's still in constant danger because of course he is

idk in the end the series wants them to be happy and they deserve it, its why i wasn't too worried about the book being like 'ooh bill is back!! and the book is haunting ford' thing cos i knew they'll be ok

So a couple of months ago I was proposing the Monstrous Regiment stageplay at Edinburgh and we didn't get a slot, but reproposing will happen next semester! Fingers crossed!

Upcoming Westminster Wedding

Hugh Grosvenor, the 7th Duke of Westminster, is set to marry Olivia Henson on Friday, June 7th. The wedding will take place at Chester Cathedral with the reception following at Eaton Hall. The Westminster family has several tiaras that the new duchess can choose from and I keep changing my mind about which one I think she will pick.

Bagration Pink Spinel Tiara

The Bagration Pink Spinel Tiara is the one worn by the groom's mother for his parents' wedding back in 1978 and was bought by the late Duke as a wedding gift for his bride. This would be the sentimental choice and I would love to see it worn but it may be a bit large for a first time tiara wearer.

Westminster Myrtle Wreath Tiara

The Westminster family owns not one but two of the few remaining Fabergé tiaras in existence! The Myrtle Wreath Tiara was made in 1906 and was worn by the groom's sister, Tamara, when she married Hugh van Cutsem in 2004. I think it's a wonderful choice for a bride and would be much less intimidating than the Bagration.

Westminster Cyclamen Tiara

The second Fabergé tiara in the collection is probably the tiara I would be most excited to see because I have never seen a photo of it being worn. The Cyclamen Tiara is a long shot because it looks like it would need some serious tiara hair to cover up the base. It is convertible to a necklace so maybe she will wear double Fabergé with the Myrtle as a tiara and the Cyclamen as a necklace!

Harewood Fringe Tiara

I normally love fringe tiaras (I know not everybody does) but this is the tiara I would least like to see worn if only because the other choices are so much more interesting and rarely seen.

The family also used to own the Westminster Halo Tiara, the Westminster Blue Enamel Kokoshnik, and the Rosebery Pearl Tiara.

Which tiara do you think the bride will wear on Friday?

Hello! What was your favorite tiara/jewelry moment from Sunday’s banquet? Personally I’m tied between loving CP Catherina Amalia’s sapphire moment and CO Elisabeth’s Wolfers tiara (and gloves) style.

Princess Catharina Amalia was my favorite, hands down! The Dutch Sapphire Necklace Tiara is one of my favorite tiaras already. I've been wanting Amalia to wear it ever since she turned 18 and she did not disappoint.

The sapphires looked amazing on her and I was surprised that she pulled off down tiara hair so well because I normally don't like it.

Also, she was wearing a substantial amount of jewelry very well. Even royal ladies who are older and have been wearing this kind of jewelry longer tend to shy away from wearing necklaces with tiaras for some reason. Just at this event she was wearing more jewelry than Crown Princess Mary, Crown Princess Mette Marit, and Princess Marie but it didn't look like too much.

This is the way you do it, simple cape dress in a stunning color and lots of jewels. Other than Queen Emma's Sapphire Necklace Tiara, she is wearing the small version of the earrings made from Queen Wilhelmina's Wedding Gift Tiara, both of the bracelets from Queen Wilhelmina's Wedding Gift Parure, Queen Wilhelmina's Diamond Trellis Necklace with optional sapphires, and a sapphire ring that I can't find any information about.

Crown Princess Elisabeth also looked great and I love that she wore the Wolfers Tiara because it hopefully means that Queen Mathilde will be a bit more generous with sharing jewels than previous queens so that everyone is not always wearing the same thing. I loved seeing Elisabeth and Amalia go together for their first big solo international event, they really reminded me of their mothers.

Politely and respectfully, I speak calmly into the void:

In the conversation about Satine's pride leading to the Shadow Collective and Maul gaining ground in Mandalore, I must disagree. Satine's pride had nothing to do with it because so long as Pre Vizsla and his quest for power was a factor, Mandalore was doomed.

Maul and the Shadow Collective didn't scope out the galaxy and find a flaw (re: pacifism) in Mandalore and go, "Oh, hey, there's our opportunity to infiltrate."

Pre Vizsla and Death Watch manufactured a plan in which they opened up the pathways and allowed Maul and the Shadow Collective to flood Sundari and stage a scene to undermine Satine's rule.

(I could write for hours about my thoughts on parallels between the attack on Sundari and the real life insurrection on the U.S. Capitol on 1/6/21, but I'll spare you all.)

Pre Vizsla committed acts of treason and endangered his own people, caring about nothing other than his goal of obtaining the seat of power with the weak justification that he would restore Mandalore to its warrior past. Bodies are dropping, people are being traumatized, and he's orchestrated these things - and he had to orchestrate them because otherwise, Mandalore was peaceful and safe.

And it wasn't just one event.

You had the attack on Sundari, but also the Peace Park bombing, and the incident on Concordia when he tried to kill Satine and Obi-Wan; and here's the thing about that, Obi-Wan was a visiting Jedi Master/General of the Grand Army of the Republic. Maybe the Republic would have turned a blind eye to Satine's death, but Obi-Wan's? Republic forces could have been on the ground in days with a full scale invasion. Such prowess! Much strategy! Wow.

Keep in mind, Pre thought he was going to double-cross Maul, throw him and his brother in a prison cell, and sit around victorious in the Grand Salon as if he had earned the throne through real merit. Had he been a real warrior and worthy of leading Mandalore, he would have achieved the seat of power through honorable means; but his pride led him to seek an alliance with shady crime syndicates and a fucking Sith, which was never going to work out in his favor.

And in the long run, what kind of ruler would Pre Vizsla have been if he hadn't been beheaded by Maul? His entire rise to power was built on deception. He would have become an absolute nightmare, wielding fear and the Darksaber, but not towards "enemies" in the galaxy, but towards his own people and those closest to him in an attempt to keep his power.

And what happens when Pre dies? Death Watch crumbles. The schism is profound and no one immediately rises up to carry on the work and keep the faction together and operational. Because what was the work? It was never really about restoring Mandalore to some glorified past. It was about Pre Vizsla's quest for power. Not even Bo-Katan honors the ways of their warrior past when Pre is bested in a duel for the Darksaber. Because it's never been about their warrior ways, so much as it was about Pre wanting the throne. (This paragraph is complete conjecture, but it's what I think and I'll die on this hill.)

Was Satine prideful at times? Yes, but blaming her for the fall of Mandalore is tantamount to finding no fault in Pre Vizsla's never-ending efforts to create conflict where there was none, all so that he could sit upon the throne for a few days until Maul rightly rocked his shit.
