8th July 1830
Grand Duchess Alexandra Iosifovna, wife of Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolaevich was born on this day in Altenburg, Duchy of Saxe-Altenburg. She was the fifth daughter of Joseph, Duke of Saxe-Altenburg and Duchess Amalie of Württemberg. She was also the younger sister of Marie, Queen consort of Hanover.
Alexandra married Konstantin Nikolaevich, the second son of Emperor Nicholas I in 1848. Despite their differences, they had a happy beginning and had a shared interest in music; they enjoyed playing duets at the piano. But their marriage later suffered, and Konstantin embarked on affairs that resulted to numerous illegitimate issues. Nevertheless, they had six children together including Olga Konstantinovna, Queen consort of Greece, and poet Grand Duke Konstantin Konstantinovich. Alexandra Iosifovna loved the Russian extravagance and magnificence, which was entirely in keeping with her extraordinary beauty, her marvelous hair in particular. A few considred that she resembled Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots, whose style of dress she copied. She also had an innate dignity and a profound respect for traditional values.
“The Grand Duchess Constantine was the most beautiful woman of her time but was quite a character. She used to drive in the country around Warsaw in a superb carriage with outriders, but she always had a night pot on the seat facing her in case of need, as she would not condescend to enter the house of Commoner.” — Agnes de Stoeckl, My Dear Marquess

Saxe-Altenburg Ducal Family, mids 1910s.
From left to right: Prince Frederick, Duke Ernst II ( brother-in-law of Grand Duke Konstantin Konstantinovich), Princess Charlotte Agnes, Duchess Adelaide, Hereditary Prince Georg Moritz and Princess Elisabeth.
Ernst II had a great passion for theater and his interest in the theater extended "to the beautiful and talented actresses". At the end of the First World War, the Duke abdicated on November 13, 1918. “Ultimately, his affairs led Adelaide to feel compelled, after the Duke's abdication in 1918, to end the marriage with the words, 'As the mother of the country, I endured the disgrace, as (only) a wife, I'm no longer ready for it' end. ”On January 17, 1920, the marriage was dissolved after 22 years. While Ernst entered into a second marriage with an opera singer, Adelaide remained single.

Her Highness Princess Ernst of Saxe-Altenburg née Princess Adelaide of Schaumburg-Lippe (1875-1971) with her eldest born daughter, Princess Charlotte Agnes of Saxe-Altenburg (1899-1989).
Grand Duchess Elizabeth Mavrikievna was Adelaide's sister-in-law.
I think she resembled a bit her mother's first cousin, Empress Maria Feodorovna.
