Grand Duchesses at the Coronation of Nicholas II and Alexandra Feodorovna
Nicholas II and his consort Empress Alexandra, were crowned on Tuesday, 14 May (O.S., 26 May N.S.) 1896, in Dormition Cathedral in the Moscow Kremlin. The magnificence of the occasion was never again seen in Russia. The Grand Duchesses were in full regalia. Here are two great photographs of them.

I'm gonna add. Anon, basically think of like, Lady Margaret Beaufort. She was Henry VII's mother, but she was never queen herself, or married to a king, but she was the mother of a king, making her "the King's Mother". While these 2 were never actually referred to as "the King's Mother" as like, a title, Joan of Kent and Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg, it could also apply to them, as their husbands died before becoming king.
Dowager Queens are former Queen consorts who's husbands have died, but they don't have to be the mother of the new monarch.
What's the difference between the titled 'Dowager Queen' and 'My Lady, the King's Mother'? Like how differently would those people have been treated?
Dowager Queen is a woman who was married to a previous King, she inherits the title whether her child is the next monarch or not. My Lady, the King's Mother is a woman who has never been Queen but is the mother of the monarch

Princess Marie of Prussia was first married to Prince Henry of the Netherlands but he died of measles six months later. She then married Prince Albert of Saxe-Altenburg in 1885 and died of puerperal fever ('childbed fever') after the birth of her second child in 1888.
