I'm not an artist, but I decided to combine the existing illustrations for the fic and a bit of fiddling around to make a mock book cover for my favorite RadioApple fic, Ruination of Lucifer by @syaunei (with absolutely epic illustrations by @betti2024).

Art by Betti2024, the top bit of the back cover text was pulled from the fic's description on Ao3, and then I added a bit more back cover text and fiddled around with some clip art and formatting in PowerPoint to make a romance novel-style front and back cover ^_^

Seriously y'all go read this fic, I am positively FERAL over it. I've been a fan of Syaunei for ages, Timeo Trilles Et Dona Ferentes is one of my fav DS9 fics ever, and so I was DELIGHTED to see she'd started writing Hazbin fic. All her writing is epic, five stars, flawless, greater than great. So go and read Ruination of Lucifer and join me in the Kermit flailing with delight, and then go read her DS9 fic and flail with delight even more.

DS9 gen Julian Bashir fanfic

I just read a story I really liked! It's gen, novel-length AND all about Julian. It's called The Darkness Within by Mijra on ff.net and the focus is on Julian's (toxic) childhood with a lot of angst and a plot twist I really hadn't seen coming! I've been reading a lot of Garashir stories recently but it was nice to have a non-slash story about Julian once in a while. So much trauma the poor boy is going through. Goes straight to my h/c folder! There seem's to be more from the author. Can't wait to go through her (?) other stories.

Awfully close to a line but not quite crossing it, and leaving Julian with absolutely no idea what he's meant to do in response. Garak in microcosm, summarized in a single unexpected gesture.

(Or: Julian has always thought Garak just had a weird little habit. Until another Cardassian does the same thing to him, and seems to imbue the gesture with a meaning Julian really had not anticipated.)

hey folks. i got into a car accident (the guy was at fault which is good for insurance), but my shit is currently not drivable b/c i had to put it in the shop, and i got my knee busted tf up. i already work two jobs, but i’m strapped for cash due to the circumstances.

gen/ things i am willing to write for: people’s OCs, backstories, poetry, script, situation prompts, etc. 

topics/fandoms: I’m mainly doing a lot of Succession (HBO) right now. But other options I’m down for are: Severance, M*A*S*H, Star Trek (ToS or DS9), Red Dead Redemption, House M.D., Detroit: Become Human, Downton Abbey, Mythic Quest, The Righteous Gemstones. (probably more? i just can’t think of them right now, feel free to ask though).

subjects: any pairings that aren’t gross (i.e. incestuous or anything), angst, hurt/comfort, any dark topic that you can think of that doesnt include (romanticizing incest, bestiality, necrophilia, underage ... just weird things. i think you get my drift). AUs or UAs, headcanons. explicit content (you just gotta give the parameters of what you want done). i’ll do a lot tbh, you just gotta give me some groundwork to follow. 

prices (excluding adjustments):

$5 for anything 1,000-under    $10 for 2,000     $15 for 3,000-5,000

anything above 5,000 (add that $15 to another $7.50 /per each 1,500 words). so, for example in case math isn’t a strong suit ... if you wanted a 6,500-7,900 word fic, it would be $22.50. if you wanted something that was around 10,000-11,000 words, it would be $45 (i think, idk how to do math either). i can always do price buffers, b/c honestly i’ll take anything even if $1 is all you can afford. i’m just trying to think of a system.

For the Fic Rec Ask Game. I couldn't narrow any of these down to just one fic per question because I have 467 AO3 bookmarks and can't make decisions to save my life, so consider the rest a bonus.

3. 😂 A fic that made you laugh out loud

The Subtle Arrangement of Stones (Babylon 5, ensemble). It's a season one "missing episode" told via security interviews. I don't even know how many times I laughed at this. Everyone is ridiculous and also somehow perfectly in character.

Reasons to Celebrate (SW:TCW, Waxer/Boil). It's a Hanahaki comedy, two words I never would have thought would go together, but it works so well.

The Minutes of an Extraordinary Meeting of the Promenade Merchants' Association (ST:DS9, ensemble). It's Worf vs the Chamber of Commerce and Worf loses.

Until Death Do Us Part (Six of Crows, ensemble). Kaz and Inej are trying to get married, but first Kaz and Jesper need to get divorced. Everything about this is 100% believable and in character and hilarious.

5. 📆 A fic you’d re-read 10 years from now

An Hourglass in Hand (SW:TCW, Codywan). This is the daemon!AU of my dreams. I love this story so much that I honestly can't even put into words what I love about it because I love everything. I could have put this as an answer to 12 too because it sucked me in from the very first sentence.

Play It Again (Teen Wolf, ensemble). Yes, I am rec'ing a TW fic in the year 2024 with zero shame. I love this story and I've reread it every couple of years for the last decade so I feel like it fits perfectly. Stiles dimension travels and can never go home. PTSD and shenanigans ensue.

An Eye For Quality (The Hobbit, ensemble). This is another one I've reread multiple times over the past decade because I love it so much. Bella Baggins goes on a Quest, gets adopted by some dwarves, and helps to save the world, but it's so much more than just a genderswapped retelling of The Hobbit.

12. 💘 A fic you couldn't stop reading once you started

Trying to Escape What You Can't Let Go (SW:TCW, Fox & Boba). Fox takes in Boba in a No O66 world and everyone thinks Fox has lost his mind, Boba included. It's 38k words and I think I read it in one sitting the first time.

Maintenance Required (SW:TBB, Tech/TAY-0). I don't remember why I decided to read this fic, since I wasn't a big fan of the episode it's a tag to, but I'm glad I did because it's so good. I never would have thought I'd end up loving TAY-0 as much as I do when I first saw the summary. Plus there's art that's just gorgeous. This is definitely one of those stories where the stats don't do the story justice at all.

Trek Self-Recs

I've been more into Star Trek Fanfic this year and last than I had been in quite some time, so I decided to pull together some of my favorites I've written.

Interpersonal Dynamics - Picks up with Piper and Sarda after the duology they appear in. Negotiating who they are after everything was too fun to resist. (Pocket Novels)

Crucible Forged - Picking up a longer fic for Cleante/T'shael AND highlighting Jean Czerny/Aernath. I loved both novels and didn't see any reason not to flex them together for this. (Pocket Novels)

The Game Begins Again and Reach for Rejection - AOS, Spock Prime, The Romulan Commander... it was too much to resist to play with this possibility. (Star Trek Alternate Time Line)

A Moment of Thought Changes All - In which I shove the fridge out an airlock, and let K'Ehleyr put enough together AND use her brain to survive. (TNG, related stories take it to DS9 era)

The Crystalline Maneuver - A crossover between TOS and The Crystal Singer trilogy by Anne McCaffrey that let me use an outsider POV of them. (TOS X-over)

And Gentle in the Night Love is Born - What's a rec list without at least one "Amok Time" aftermath? Except, because it's me, it's Bones/Spock.

Fifth Formers at St Clare‘s, I found all the St Clare’s (zu Deutsch: Hanni & Nanni) that exist in the original English online here for free, I used to be obsessed with the German translations (and additions - there are way way more of those in German than the 9 English ones) as a kid and the nostalgia overtook me when I remembered the books because of this tagging meme and I completely singlefocusedly binge read through them in the last couple days
