Plot: phantom of the opera au
Warnings: Some smut (im still learning how so go easy on me) fingering, dream sex, mind control but not dark)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ce26305658356a3e430bdf2ba4a53b52/0b243a9ebece4036-92/s540x810/7283b9ac69e95ad88aecdc67a0ce2930dd0bc62f.jpg)
The opera de popular was one of the crown jewels of paris, a place where dreams and nightmares can become a reality. It’s also where young (y/n) (l/n) found themselves living after the untimely death of their only living relative, their father.With no living family and no prospective husband (y/n) would have been homeless if not for Madame Ajak,the kindly dance instructor of the opera and a dear friend to the girls late father.
Madame Ajak became the mother you never knew, kind, caring, always able to cure any physical ailment that seemed to bother her or anyone else, with Madame came Sersi. She was another girl that had grown up in the opera. Madame Ajak was unable to have children of her own so she adopted Sersi when she was just a baby. The young woman was only a few years older then (y/n) and the two became fast friends. Sersi showed you the ins and outs of the opera house, really the ins and outs of Paris. Many times she would take you out and about to learn about your new home and everything in it including the rest of the people that would make up your new family. The first members you met came in the form of Gilgamesh and Thena.
Gilgamesh was the chief of security for the opera house. He was a giant boulder of a man well built and very intimidating at first glance, that is until he smiles at you and turns into the giant teddy bear he is. Always making sure all of us are safe and sneaking in baked goods every now and then. You wouldn’t know just from looking at him but he was an amazing baker, especially his pies they were to die for. With Gilgamesh came his partner Thena,she was gorgeous a goddess without even trying. She was the stunt, fighting and weapons expert for the opera and many other production houses in Paris. Many people thought she was a model but the mere thought made her grimace, “Why would I want to be a model and have to care what everyone thought of me?” Even though she had a tough exterior she was also very kind in her ways. Thena was determined for all of us younger girls at the opera to be able to protect ourselves, teaching everyone basic self defense and warning signs and so on and so forth. She was truly a ferocious mama bear if she wanted to be, to you she just became a protective aunt.
Next up was, without a doubt, your favorite trio, Phastos,Sprite and Makkari. All three worked backstage, keeping the opera house running as fabulously as it does. Phastos was the head engineer/ prop master. If something needed to be built he was the guy, his creations awe inspiring, some looking as though they had come straight out of the future, but he was still humble enough to answer any questions you or anyone had about the devices. Alongside Phastos worked sprite. She was young that was undeniable but boy was she talented, A true artist she was the head set designer and painter. Everything she created was so stunning you couldn’t even tell it wasn’t real. While Phastos was somewhat humble, Sprite was spunky, quick witted and sharp tongue when wronged. She halted being looked down on because of how young she looked and would lay into anyone who belittled her.
Makkari was a completely different story, even though she was deaf that did not stop her. Always with a kind smile on her face she ran around helping pull everything together. She was the resident lighting and stage hand always in the right place at the right time, almost like there were seven of her. When she wasn’t working she would be in the shopping district, dragging (y/n) with her to oogle all the shiny and sparkly Knick knacks, all the beautifully colored fabrics and imports coming in. In fact that's how Kingo was introduced.
Kingo was a fashionista, a real eye for how to make everyone look their best with one look.he was the opera's resident costume designer / understudy. Kingo dreamed of being on stage; he knew all the words, all the songs, everything, but sadly his time in the spotlight had not yet come. Everyone always reassured him his time would come, in fact you would always run lines with him whenever he was feeling down, he was over the top dramatic for sure but so entertaining. Probably the only thing more entertaining was picking on him with sprite and makkari. His reaction to the twos joke always brought a smile to your face, and was almost a bonding experience with the other girl.
During the day there was enough to distract you from your sullen thoughts. In particular the formation of a new found family, always there to relieve you of your boredom and loneliness but at night it was a different story. About a month after you had arrived you sat in the opera's small chapel, lighting a candle for your fathers soul. You guess your gentle weeping is what brought forth the angel's song, but all you really remember is the gentle glowing gold of the candles or at least you think it was the candles but you didn't really care as the feelings of calm wash over you with the soft timber of the angel's voice. At night or really whenever you were alone the angel would speak to you. Teach you the ways of the opera house and the music that went along with it. He was a mystic presence, always there but never in reach.
He invaded your whole life, when not learning from him at night your dreams started turning to him.
It would start with his voice, hearing it in your head as you drifted to sleep, the scene would change to a candle lit backdrop, soft smells of vanilla fill the air, a dreamy feeling wanders around you, then you would feel hands wrap around you. They were strong, long fingers as they wandered up and down your frame. You dare not turn around not wanting the feelings he provokes from you to end too quickly.
You watch as those glorious hands gently slide up your leg taking your thin night shift with them until they reach your core. A branding iron of heat in eloping you as he probes you. Fingers lightly playing with your clit as his lips caressed your ear, words ringing through your very soul it felt
“My beautiful beautiful muse, I've waited so long for you. I’ll never forget the day I first heard your voice, it was like hearing a blessing.”
You couldn’t even articulate words to reply to him shivering as hard as you were from merrily his touch.
“I can not wait for the day you truly belong to me. Mind. Body. And soul”
You feel his fingers stroking in tune to his words. Marking his point deep within your walls, but before you are able to climb to the peak a loud ringing sounds from beside you
“Ignore it”
You try of course but the ringing doesn’t stop. With each ring the scene around you shakes, deteriorating back into the blackness that waits behind your rapidly opening eyes. You sit up in shock, eyes trying to adjust to your bedroom as your alarm rings beside you. Your body still shivering from the after effects of the dream you just had.
Five years had passed, under your teachers guidance your gift bloomed but the only people you would even attempt to try to sing for would be your new family, and that was only light humming. The dreams became normal as well. Usually they happened after working with your mysterious and gracious master. You never learned anything more about him. All you knew was his voice but the one in your dreams seemed to evolve.
First was his hands and then his arms then his legs,his back,even a head of dark brown hair. But never his face. It was starting to vex you honestly, every time waking up from the pure euphoria of those dreams too have reality slap you in the face of how lonely you felt. Not that your new family did not appease your heart, in fact being with them was as natural as breathing. To be honest you couldn't describe what was wrong with you, all you could summarize it as was that it felt like part of you was missing.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/d513b13bbf9c3664118fac521b1e209d/0b243a9ebece4036-fe/s540x810/1e1ff27ec39d14ab9f30fcac72650295a23725eb.jpg)
A week after your 24th birthday the new owners of the opera appeared and with them came someone familiar.
“Listen up everyone!” Mr Richard's the old owner calls to everyone, all of us currently gathered on the main stag rehearsing the latest show
“I would like to introduce the new owners of the opera Monsieur Nelson and Monsieur Murdock.”
Everyone claps all clambering around to get the best views of the two young owners. You had to admit neither were horrible looking, you thought it was interesting for a blind person to want to buy an opera but it made sense to, even if he couldn’t see the performances, listening to them was the next best thing.
‘Thank you all, thank you we are both very happy to start our adventures in the arts.” Mr Nelson started “We would also like to introduce our generous backer Count Ikaris de solar.” Finished Mr Murdock to when a handsome brunette stepped onto stage to everyone’s approval and applause.
“Ikaris?” You gasped out as everyone continued to clap and awe over the count
“Do you know him (y/n)?” Sersi asks confusingly
“Yes, we knew each other as children. We were somewhat close before his family moved away, I can’t believe that's truly him.”
Before you get another word in, a loud clearing of the throat silences everyone. Mademoiselle Ayesha and her pompous son Adam, step through the crowd in their fine costumes. The madame was the current lead soprano for the opera even though you thought she couldn't sing for shit. Her voice was almost as grating as her attitude towards everyone. Sprite assumed the only reason she was given any parts was because of her stupidly wealthy family and late husband. But you choose not to comment on that. The woman stands there covered in gold and signals to the maestro to start at the top of her aria once more
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/dce5e980f8ed9bcd67fc72bb65b1702a/0b243a9ebece4036-2c/s540x810/009ea90aca67463ece92b4337449b74d472ecfab.jpg)
Oh no she's starting again Sersi says from beside you already getting ready to cover her ears. In fact you can even see the housekeeping staff in the audience stuffing Cotton in their ears. The woman doesn’t get but a few lines in the aria her screeching tone ringing through the stage before the rolled up backdrop above her comes crashing down. The light but sturdy fabric lands on top of the soprano pinning her belly flopped to the stage floor to the shocks and screams of everyone around.
They rush to help the woman up but the damage to her pride is too great. She starts screeching about all the previous accidents directed at her, of all the misfortune and indignity that has befallen her and how she will not stand for it any longer. Mr Murdock simply stands there letting the scene unfold as Mr Nelson loses his mind along the diva as she. Stomps her heel gathering all her things, her son and their people and promptly leaving
The new owners were in a tissy (mostly foggy) wondering how they are supposed to open tomorrow with no star. How this whole adventure is now wasted. Madame Ajak promptly interrupts, saving Mr Nelson from a full melt down, handing the duo a dark black envelope with a giant red wax seal on it.
“Where did that come from?” You ask Sersi
“That confirms it then, It must was the phantom”
“The phantom?”
“Have you honestly not heard the others talk about this?
“No?”
She just shakes her head at you before filling you in on the details
“He's a mysterious person, some say he’s a ghost, others a demon but no one knows for sure. They say he's been here forever always making his presence known. In fact the previous owner used to pay him a monthly wage just to appease him, that and that box number 5 be kept empty for him whenever he wishes. Everything was going well but this past couple years he has gotten a little more devious.
“Why?”
No one really knows, and everyone’s afraid to ask or look around afraid they’ll never be seen again.
Before you can ask sersi more your name is being called.
“(Y/n)(l/n) can do it.”
What?” You had missed the conversation between the two new owners and Madame Ajak
One of your dances can replace the star diva from the past 5 years.? Your sure about that?
“Foggy why don't we give the girl a chance”
“Matt this is doing nothing for. My nerves
You stand there like a deer in headlight hoping you could somehow slip to the back and out of sight but Sersi sees you growing anxiety and gently but firmly directs you towards Ajak.
Madame gently took you from her daughter and lead you to the center of the stage
“Madame what,,,,but,, I,,,”
“It will be alright dear. I've heard you practice these last couple of years when you sneak off at night, and i know your teacher has taught ypu well”
“My teacher?”
Ajak just gives you a knowing look before she turns towards the maestro and nods at him leaving you standing there as everyone watches.
You hear quiet cheer from stage left where your little opera family all stand giving you thumbs up and right smiles, trying to ease your nerves, though it doesn’t really help, it's not till you look up towards the grand chandler that that gentle calming glow envelops your senses once more.
“From the top of the aria mademoiselle”
The band picks up and the music begins to play
To be honest you don't remember much after that. It was a whirlwind of activity. Being swept off stage and quickly fitted into costumes, stage managers telling you where you need to stand, color spotting you with lights all the fixing basically to make it seem like you were always meant to be in the role.
You didn't know that while you sang your heart out on stage a certain young count had finally taken notice of you
“(Y/n)?”
“That’s the girl that used to follow you around?” Count Arishem Ikarus’s father ask begrudgingly
“Yes father that's the daughter of that famous violinist tha lived near our old summer home.”
“Well, well we may have found ourselves a diamond in the rough after all. The elder count scrutinizes the crowd all gawking at the peasant, like she's a princess. All he sees is an opportunity to boost his family further, the gears of his plan already forming in his mind.
Phantoms pov
There she is at last! Right where she belongs, my beautiful beautiful muse.

Never Lost Pt2
Drukkari x female reader
College Au
Summary: You meet your new roommate Makkari and her friends at college. Something begins developing between you, Druig, and Makkari, but will insecurities and sorority girls get in the way of your blooming romance?
Pt1.
(disclaimer! This series is unedited and will have errors- I apologize)
After saying goodbye to your mom at the airport you drove back to the dorm, Makkari was nowhere to be seen when you opened the door so you opted for a shower to wash away the slight disappointment you were feeling.
You couldn’t deny that she was absolutely gorgeous, and she seemed very talented and funny, you couldn’t wait to get to know her more, and if everyone on campus was as hot as her then you were going to have a really good year.
You stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around yourself, looking around and realizing you forgot to grab some clothes. You peaked out of the door of the bathroom, and seeing that Makkari was still out you swiftly walked out of the bathroom and to your duffel bag to search for an outfit, you were so busy shuffling through your clothes you didn’t hear the small ‘beep’ of the door unlocking and you froze when you heard it open.
You turned to the door, clutching the towel tightly as you noticed Makkari in the doorway, eyes wracking over your towel-clad body before coming up to meet your own, a slight blush donning her cheeks.
You dropped a hand to sign “Sorry” which ultimately drew her attention toward your chest and caused you to flush a little.
She shook her head out of whatever she was thinking and brought a hand up to cover her eyes, a slight smile now being the only thing visible on her face, it was the perfect opportunity to look at her lips but unfortunately, you had to get dressed if you wanted to preserve at least a little bit of your dignity.
You rushed to the bathroom to change into your pajamas before exiting to find Makkari had changed into hers as well, a guilty smile found it’s way to your lips
“Sorry” you signed again
“Don’t be” she dismissed and sat criss-crossed on her bed, you copied her position on your own.
“what year are you?” she questioned
“i’m a junior” you started “ I started my first few years of college in my hometown because my family wanted me to stay close -and I was too scared to move away honestly, but then we took a vacation here last summer and I saw this college and I knew I wanted to transfer” you explained, she nodded in understanding
“I’m a junior too, a few of my friends and I transferred here because our old college got shut down, the principle was kind of controlling and the college wasn’t getting enough students admitted so the state stopped funding”
“oh wow, I’m sorry”
“I’m not, I like this college a lot more already” she gave you a mischievous smile and you blushed
“do you know if there’s anything on the itinerary yet?”
“my friends said they’re doing a welcome bonfire tomorrow night and a few more bonding things before classes start next week” she concluded
“that’s pretty cool” she nodded in agreement
“I can introduce you to my friends tomorrow if you want?” Makkari proposed
“I’d like that” the two of you exchanged numbers before getting under the covers and going to bed with a quick “goodnight”
–
You woke up with a smile on your face and a text from Makkari
Makkari: Hey Y/n! I went on a morning run but I promise I’ll be back soon ;)
You quickly typed out a response
Y/n: Ok cool! See you in a bit, have fun torturing yourself
You stretched before getting dressed and heading out the door, you asked the receptionist for a map before following it to the food hall. When you get there your jaw nearly drops and that plethora of foods they have available, you were about to get food when you stopped and pulled out your phone, shooting a quick text to Makkari
Y/n: Have you eaten breakfast?
The reply was almost instant
Makkari: No?
Y/n: are you allergic to anything?
Makkari: Ni
Makkari: No*
Y/n: kay
Makkari: ??
You grabbed some fruit cups, orange juice bottles, and waffles with little syrup packets before making your way back up into the dorm, Makkari was already there by the time you got back and you found yourself faced with her abs again as you entered to room.
You couldn’t help but watch the way her throat moved as she drank the water from her water bottle, jesus she wasn't the only one who was thirsty-
“You better not be a picky eater” you joked
She lit up as she spotted the food in your hands, coming over to grab half of the things you brought before giving you a hug, sandalwood and vanilla instantly flooded your senses, you would’ve stayed in her arms all day if you could.
The two of you ate your breakfast in happy silence before you finally spoke up
“Do you have any plans for today?” you let her read your lips, you found you quite liked when her attention was on them, she shook her head no before getting up to throw her trash away
- Do you want to watch a movie or something?- you suggested
“Yes”
The two of you spent the rest of the morning/noon watching rom-coms and bickering over which was the best one before Makkari decided you two should probably start getting ready for the bonfire
“Do you know if we have to bring anything?” You turned from your closet to sign to Makkari
“I don’t think so, they should be providing food and drinks” She signed back from her closet
“ I can’t find anything good to wear” you huffed
“let me help” Makkari smiled, walking over and putting a hand on your waist as she moved you over slightly to get a better look at your wardrobe, it made you shiver and you’re more than sure she felt it but she gave no indication that she had.
She pulled out a pair of white jean shorts and a black t-shirt and handed it to you, you changed in the bathroom before coming out and looking in the mirror,
“It’s cute but I feel like it’s missing something” you confessed, she nodded her head in agreement, walking back over to your closet and looking for something before going back to her side and retrieving a jean jacket. She handed it over to you and a light blush crept onto your face as you slipped it on
“are you sure?” you knew it was going to be cold and you certainly weren’t opposed to wearing her jacket but you didn’t know if you two had reached that level comfortability yet. Apparently, you had as Makkari gives you a nod and motions for you to turn around and look in the mirror
“it looks good, Thank you” You gave her a smile that she returned before the two of you continued getting ready.

Hi i just found out about your drukkari post and wonder where i can find and read it? Im very interested in the plot. Thanks (о´∀`о)
I-
Ooo boy. I feel bad.
I wish I could tell you but it's currently deep within my drafts and very unfinished.
I have been adding stuff to it but I've kinda lost passion for it. I might post it unfinished but with the draft "notes" of what I'd planned to write.
I'll try and finish it but I'm not gonna make any promises.

CATFA: Part Two
Pairing: Ikaris x Female!Reader, Bucky Barnes x Female!Reader
Word Count: ~1.7k
Warnings: canon violence, language, and angst
Author’s Note: any and all comments are appreciated <3
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6ef51d679f0bfcfb79f2be4348eff3e7/f1e26c5fd6a90c92-12/s540x810/410a1310196e5104aed51e5e905b47d6fc95c08b.jpg)
x
After five hundred years spent with the Eternals, the war with the deviants is put to an end. The team has split up in trying to take care of the last remaining deviants. You're in Mexico City watching the fall of the Aztec Empire. The past five hundred years have been amazing with Ikaris despite the constant threat of war over your heads.
"Where are the others?" Ajak asks.
"We had to split up," Makkari signs.
She's been teaching you Sign Language over the past five hundred years, and you've been fluent for the past four. You've mastered a lot of languages over those four years that you've been grateful to know.
There were more Deviants than you said," Thena says.
"Once the others kill these last Deviants, we will have eliminated them all from the planet."
You look back at the war happening. Everyone is fighting each other to the death because one side wants to be proven right while the other side is fighting to show them that they aren't. Druig has the power to mind control and he is about to mind control everyone to calm down, but Ajak prevents him from doing so.
"Don't. We don't interfere in their wars."
"This isn't war. It's genocide. Their weapons have become too deadly. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea helping them advance, Phastos," Druig accuses.
"Technology is a part of their evolutionary process, Druig. It's not exactly something that I can stop."
"No, you can't, but I can."
"Stay strong," Makkari signs.
You look back at the others when you notice something wrong with Thena. Gold lines shine over her face and her eyes gloss over in a milky white.
"It's too late," she mutters. "Everyone is going to die."
"Thena?"
Thena creates a gold sword from her powers but before she can hurt Sersi, Makkari rushes her away with her super speed.
"Thena? Thena, no!" you yell.
She stabs Phastos in the stomach, but Makkari moves him out of the way so that she only grazes her. You use your air powers to blast Thena away, but it doesn't work as much as you hoped it would. She tosses her sword at you, and it lodges itself in your shoulder. You cry out in pain and fall to the ground as Makkari rushes her away. Thena creates another sword and stabs Makkari in the gut, causing the both of them to crash to the ground. Thena stands up and swings her sword, but Ajak stands in the way so that the tip of her sword goes through her hand. It doesn't seem to affect Ajak, so Thena retracts her sword just as Ajak uses her powers. She holds her hand out with gold circles and lines connecting all of her fingers, and it seems to calm Thena down to where her eyes go back to their normal color.
"Don't listen to your head, Thena. Listen to my voice. You are safe. You are loved. You're our Thena."
Thena's eyes turn stark white again, and she creates more magical swords and shields to fight Ajak. She pushes Ajak away, spins a full circle, and stabs Ajak in the stomach with her sword from behind. Gilgamesh is quick to respond, and he wraps his arms around Thena from behind to stop her.
"Hey, Thena! Hey! Stop, stop, stop!"
Thena breaks away from Gilgamesh and fights him with the intent to kill. You know this is a situation better handled internally than with you getting involved, so you tend to your own wounds. Ajak starts to heal Makkari who is grateful for her help. Ikaris comes back from killing deviants on his side of the world, but he doesn't rush to you immediately.
He looks to his right and sees Sersi who is also injured from Thena and Gilgamesh fighting. It takes him two seconds to decide who to run to and it's you. It's only two seconds but it doesn't go unnoticed by you.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'll be fine," you wince and let your powers heal you slowly.
"Thena, please. Come back to us."
Thena isn't relenting, so Gilgamesh uses his powers and strikes Thena in the head, causing her to go unconscious. Ajak doesn't want to do this in the middle of the forest where anyone can walk up and see them, so she takes everyone into the sacred temple way above where everyone else is fighting. Thena is laid on the stone table in the middle of the room, but she doesn't wake up right away.
"I thought Mahd Wy'ry was a myth," Sersi sighs.
"What's Mahd Wy'ry?" you ask.
"It's what humans call PTSD or even dementia," Ajak explains. "It only seems to affect Eternals."
"There is no cure so no one talks about it," Phastos shrugs.
Thena gasps awake and looks at everyone in fear and confusion.
"What happened?"
"You attacked everyone. You wounded Sersi, Phastos, Y/N, and you nearly killed Makkari."
"I don't remember."
"You have Mahd Wy'ry. Your mind is fracturing under the weight of your memories. All I can do is erase them so you can start over. I will have to inform Arishem and take you back to the ship where we have the technology to help you."
Apparently, Arishem is their boss. They go to this otherworldly being for instruction and order. He's the one who put them on Earth, and only he can say when they get to leave.
"But she won't be Thena anymore," Makkari signs.
"What if it happens again? She could've killed you. She could have killed all of us."
"Please. Please, I... I want to remember. I want to remember my life." Thena whimpers.
"Thena, I love you, but listen to me. It's not important if you remember or not. Your spirit will remain. You will always be Thena deep inside. Trust me."
"Why should she trust you? You're asking her to let you erase who she is," Druig speaks up.
You stand off to the side and let them hash this out since this seems like an Eternal problem. You'd only make things worse if you were to add your input.
"Druig, I know you're upset, but--"
"Upset?!" he yells at her. "We've trusted you for seven thousand years, and look where you've gotten us. I've watched humans destroy each other when I could stop it all in a heartbeat. Do you know what that does to someone after centuries? Could our mission have been a mistake? Are we really helping these people build a better world? We're just like the soldiers down there. Pawns to their leaders. Blinded by loyalty. It ends now."
Druig turns to the battle happening down below and uses his powers on the soldiers. Immediately, they stop fighting and look at Druig with the same colored eyes as his powers. Ikaris yanks Druig back and slams him against the wall in anger.
"Let them go."
"You're gonna have to make me," he smirks. Ajak pulls Ikaris away to deal with Druig on her own, and Ikaris rejoins your side. "If you wanna stop me, you're gonna have to kill me."
He gives her two seconds to respond, and when she doesn't, he turns and leaves the group. He's going to go off on his own and prosper with the soldiers he's taken hostage.
"I'll watch over Thena," Gilgamesh offers. "Let her keep her memories."
"One day, when she attacks you, you might have to kill her."
"We'll take that chance."
Thena looks down emotionally at the compassion and kindness her friend gives her.
"You may all go. The Deviants are gone. There is no reason for you to stay with me."
"Shouldn't you ask Arishem first? We're a team, we should stay together," Ikaris says.
"I didn't ask you for your advice, Ikaris. Do not forget your place. This is where we say goodbye. You are free to go. I want you to go out there and live a life for yourselves. Find your own purpose, and one day, when we see each other again, I want you to tell me what you found."
With no one tethering you to the other Eternals, you and Ikaris are free to live your life as a couple rather than fighting comrades. It's been fun fighting alongside them, but you're ready to live your life with Ikaris. It took some time to get used to this new life, but you two adapted quickly.
It would be perfect if there wasn't one thing constantly on your mind, always poking at you to make sure you know it's there.
Ikaris and Sersi were in a relationship for five thousand years before he met you, and that kind of time with someone will always stick around no matter how much you declare you're moving on. You didn't see it at first, but Ikaris always chose places to live that were near Sersi. He didn't live right next door to her, but he made sure to always be close enough in case she needed him.
It got to a point where it started affecting your relationship with him. You tried to ignore it for the first few centuries, but it came to a point where you needed to either get out or become a slave to his charm. Ikaris is charming and gorgeous but he's manipulating you without even knowing it. He doesn't mean to do it, but his soulmate is Sersi, and it's time you find yours.
"Ikaris, can we talk?"
Ikaris knows this conversation is coming, he just refuses to believe it's here. He loves you, but he's in love with Sersi.
"I know what you're going to say."
"Then you know it's the right decision. I know you love me and I love you, but you're still in love with Sersi. She's great and another Eternal. I won't live forever, but you two will. It's best if we go our separate ways."
"I'm sorry. I never meant for things to end up like this."
"It's okay. I promise."
With that, you left to go find your soulmate. It's been nine hundred years since you first came to Earth, and you've been to virtually every corner of this planet. New York City will always have a place in your heart, so that's where you go. Technology had evolved immensely since the 1500s, but New York in the 1930s is something you wish everyone can experience. The 20s were truly a gem, and experiencing that by yourself was enlightening.
This is the first time in centuries that you don't have a plan. You can be whoever you want to be, live wherever you want to live, and do whatever you want to do. Maybe you'll open a clothing business and restart that passion of yours. New York may not rely on you to survive, but you could help a lot of people.

Druig is absolutely in love with your daughter when she’s born
He didn’t think he could ever love anything as much as her, besides you
Druig wrapping her in a dark red blanket that is too long and trails behind him as he walks around the house with the baby
You two come to name her Gaia, after her almost immediate love for the earth and nature
He is always the first one up with her when she cries at night
You find your husband walking through your gardens at night showing your daughter all of the plants to try to soothe her
Phastos teaching Druig how to change a diaper
Family picnics in a field
Druig making and placing a grass crown on her small head
The giggles Gaia makes from the tickling sensation on her head from the grass
Gaia crawling around just to grab the grass with her small hands
Auntie Sersi
Druig reading Gaia’s mind whenever she cried so he could help take care of whatever she needed faster
Gaia’s face getting dirty with all types of berries after a snack, and discovering her father also had the matching mess on his face
“Why are you laughing at me? What is it?”
Gaia joining in laughing at Druig even though she has no clue what’s happening
Druig always protecting his girls
He always feels more comfortable when Gaia’s cradle is in your bedroom for the night
Druig falling asleep with Gaia on his chest
Gaia’s first words
“Come on! Say mama,”
“She’s gonna say dad first. I can feel it.”
Of course, she said dada first
You cooking with Gaia strapped to your chest
You sneaking Gaia extra small chopped up vegetables as you add them to the food
Druig coming up from behind you and wrapping his arms around you and Gaia on your chest, resting his head in the crook of your neck
Having a set of on call babysitters
Maybe minus Thena
But Thena is Gaia’s favorite Auntie (Don’t tell Sersi)
Sprite creating illusions for her and playing best with Gaia out of all of the eternals
When the Deviants return, Druig sends you two off to a secluded island
It hurts him so badly leaving you there, but his main motivation was to save you two
He was gone for three months
There was never a moment that Druig didn’t spend thinking about you two
He missed Gaia’s first steps
It broke your heart when she would keep asking for him
“Dada?”
You would just hold her tiny body against yours trying not to cry, just hoping Druig was safe
Gaia would struggle sleeping on this island
She usually needed a walking around the house and a song from her dad to fall asleep
Druig would never admit to you that he ever actually sang to her, but you would hear his slight hums from down the hallway
When he returned you and Gaia were playing on the beaches.
You scooped her up and ran to him, getting your feet wet in the water
You held Gaia as you kissed your husband, she grabbed a handful of Druig’s hair and started pulling.
“Ow-ow-ow-ow,”
You all sat together one last time on the island, feeling whole once again watching the sun set
You were holding Gaia’s tiny hands as she marched around the beach, attempting to walk far enough to her father
She almost made it, falling at Druig’s feet
He picked her up and showered her with small kisses all over her face
“Daddy missed you, baby.”

⊱ ────── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ────── ⊰
Occasionally, he lets himself slip back into the bigger picture.
When he does, it's frightening. He'd grown accustomed to the society he had created, the one with completely different standards and restrictions. There were no rumbling trains passing by his bedroom window, no filtered voices through a radio, no clanking from the streets down below.
In this tangled jungle, there were no streets, no trains, no radios, and much to his dismay, no you.
This was the life he had chosen. He was proud of the people he'd raised, the community he'd grown. Over the centuries, he's watched the human race continue their wars. He'd heard of the enslavement of some, the massacres of others. He was grateful for the safety he was able to give for his people.
Druig didn't view himself as a God, but he certainly was in power. He'd experienced everything there was to human life - from birth (he'd even helped with a few) to death - and had grown admirable of it. He was appreciative for the flawed ways of humans.
However, there was always something that stung a little more than he would've preferred.
He'd watched them fall in and out of love. He'd seen them cry for love, beg for love, and even die for love. He'd witnessed the pain and thrill of it. And always, was he reminded of you.
Brooklyn. 1944.
He'd told them that this was a quick trip. It was usual for him to sporadically leave for a month or two, and while no one had ever been told about you, a few of the villagers suspected their leader had put his heart in someone else's hands.
It was quick trip, that's all. He reminded himself repeatedly on his journey. He would visit just to see you despite how much he hated the modern world. Anything was worth it for you. Fortunately, mind control was helpful when traveling through South America, sailing across the Atlantic Ocean, and passing by sets of Islands until he could see in the horizon the figure of a woman.
She was a reminder of how long it had been since he'd seen you.
It had been long before there were skyscrapers and automobiles passing through the streets. You never stayed in one place for too long - in your case, more than thirty years - but he'd remembered your last conversation in Paris.
"America is thriving, Druig," you smiled, playing with the buttons on his shirt. One had been loose, just hanging by a thread, and you'd promised to sew it back for him. "I'd love to see it, anyway."
Outside your open windows lived the nightlife of Paris. The streetlamps had been lit for hours at the very least, the flames glimmering and twitching in the darkness. Couples walked the streets below, arms in arm and hands in hand. If you listened closely, you could hear their conversations of love. With Druig's heart beating directly under your ear, nothing else could have been more perfect in that moment.
He hummed in amusement. You were curled under his arm, head on his chest and his thumb rubbed over your shoulder. "Why would you want to leave 'the city of love'?" Druig mocked you. You had always been a romantic.
Besides, if there was a man going around by the name 'Captain America', he was sure you had something to do with it.
Stepping off of the docks, Druig did his best to adapt to the smells of the city. There was a rotting scent coming from a random direction, an odor of wet stray dogs and their food from garbage cans followed him into the streets, and then an aroma of what Druig sensed was cold vegetable soup and stale bread.
With a bag swung over his shoulder - the villagers back in the forest had slipped in some goods, which consisted of handmade clay pottery, because while they didn't know who, they knew their leader was visiting someone - Druig began to push his way through the crowded city.
Fashion had dramatically changed...was that a woman's ankle? A man wore a jacket made from the same material as potato sack, and a boy's shoes had holes in the front. There were the occasional men dressed in pinstripe suits with shiny suitcases, but they did their best to refrain from making contact with anyone else as much as possible. It disgusted Druig. He admired humans but they could tear each other apart in a way that he hated.
He already missed the people of his village, but anything was worth you.
You had been living in a small tenant. The windows were dirty with old rainwater and smoke, and the door to the lobby had a broken lock. Druig would've been worried but he knew you were more than capable of handling yourself.
He imagined how he would find you. Would you be sorting through a book or gliding through the kitchen? Did you still have the little origami swan he'd made for you all those years ago sitting on your shelf? Most importantly, was there anyone else you shared your bed with? Your heart?
Only when he appeared at your door, knocking twice on the wood, he didn't hear you shuffling inside to open it.
It was silent. And that scared him.
But then there were footsteps behind him - light and airy, he knew exactly who they belonged to. There was a pause, a comfortable shift of silence in the air as you stood a foot away with your groceries in hand. The dress you wore was pretty, but you were always prettier.
Blue eyes against yours. The thinker and the fighter. Before he could even speak, you smiled, "Would you like to come in?"
Your voice was still sweet and welcoming. It was home. He followed through your door, invited with the smell of cinnamon. It was refreshing from the stench of the city. Your kitchen was small, and the dining room wasn't much of a room but more of a single table with two chairs near a window. In front of the fireplace sat one long couch accompanied by an old armchair he recognized from Paris.
On your table sat a small vase of peonies. A few were gray and practically dust, but others were vibrantly alive. You set your three bags of groceries on the counter. "I can make you something if you'd like." So sweet.
"I don't need anything," Druig said thoughtfully. He put his hand over yours and rubbed your thumb. "I know I said I'd be back sooner-"
"10 years sooner," you corrected him. It was true; Druig had made an oath in Paris that he would see you again, so you were surprised to have waited a decade later than he'd promised. You weren't cross or aggrieved, but you were right to be at least a little upset.
Druig's heart broke at the thought of you being alone, knowing that sometimes you could let your thoughts get the best of you if there wasn't someone else to aid you. "We were having complications at the village," it was your turn to rub his hand in comfort. You knew how the first war would affect him.
"It's okay, Dru," you smiled, kissing his chin. How he missed your lips on him, he'd never be able to explain it.
He pressed his forehead to yours. Both of your eyes closed as the moment enveloped you. Even the sounds of the city outside began to drown out. When he opened his eyes, Druig glanced to a stack of papers scattered over your counter. You weren't one for clutter. "Looks like you really do need me," he joked, and you smiled. With a nod of consent, you turned to the groceries as he flipped through your mail.
"Jane B. Acklam, from St Bartholomew's Hospital...in London," Druig laughed impressively. "You're famous, aren't you?"
"That would be Kingo," you take the letter from his hand and looked over the address. "I was a nurse for them in 1915," Druig's heart clenched when he noticed the sadness taking over your tone. In your eyes he could see everything. You admired humans as much as he did. "I suppose they want me back."
Druig wanted to comfort you and wipe away any memories of a battlefield, but he took your sudden smile as a sign to change the subject. There was an envelope on your counter that had been ripped open and inside was a letter. "Well, look at you," he teased, watching as you playfully rolled your eyes. "An admirer?"
He couldn't understand much of the scribbled writing, but there were a few words he could make out. "Love", "see you again", "after the war, we can go dancing", and "With love, Steve".
"He'll get over it," you smiled fondly of the Captain, but he wasn't truly yours. "Besides, I've got someone else to keep me happy."
Druig discarded the letter, and smirked. "I wonder..." his fingers tilted your chin so your lips angled perfectly with his. You only met gently, just barely brushing against each other. It was serene and intimate. "Beautiful, beautiful (y/n). I missed you."
Cheeks turned red. Your eyes began to open again but his remained close. He was taking his time to remember this moment, because all of those centuries ago, he promised you one thing.
Down your knees fell, skin scuffing from the rough stones below you. You could your bones shake. He was walking away, taking your whole world with him. "Druig!" You screamed after him. Your voice was shattered, the same as your heart.
He didn't even turn to look at you. His footsteps on the stairs halted. The entire city was covered with those of golden eyes. They all faced you both, watching as your lover slowly abandoned you. From behind you, Ikaris held his arms against his family attempting to rush to aid you and to convince Druig to come back home.
"Druig, please," you refused to let yourself cry. Not in front of him and not under these circumstances. "You can't leave."
You could've sworn you heard him laugh. "And you can't come with me," he spoke without even turning to face you. The moment was raw and unbearable, and never in your life had you done anything to deserve this. Even Druig knew that. So why was he tearing you apart? "You don't work without them, (y/n). You're their pawn, and I can't fit in with that."
Down your heart fell, millions of pieces left there in Tenochtitlan, even to this day.
Kneeled over so your forehead touched the stone steps, he finally turned and met your eyes. "Beautiful, (y/n)," he cooed, taking your chin into his hands. He had never abandoned you before. Your time on earth had been spent with him, not a moment alone. The thought of the years to come and spending them by yourself was frightening. "I'm sorry to leave you."
Somewhere along time, you'd learned to move on without the lost pieces of your heart. You healed, and when he returned back to you a century later, you forgave him--not as easily as he would've preferred, though.
"Have you missed me?" his voice brought you back to the sweet reality where you both rested in each other's arms.
Druig's eyes were desperate. Even if he knew the truth, he would still dig deep to find it. He always had to know. But he suddenly felt stupid for even asking; the smile on your face confirmed it. "You should stay," you murmured, "and never leave again."
He chuckled so deep that it shook your bones, wrapping his hands around your waist and hips so there were goosebumps forming on your skin. "You know I wish I could, love," You let yourself turn to putty in his hands as he lifted you onto your small counter top. With your dress riding up your thighs, there was a shock of coolness against your skin. Druig liked the way you smiled.
Kisses were left on your neck. "My beautiful (y/n)," slowly, you began to melt. "Let me love you."
-
He would leave again. Only once had he done it in quiet and when he'd returned years later, you wouldn't talk to him for days. From then on, he would wake you up or kiss you goodbye. Somehow, leaving had become a chore for Druig, something like a daily routine. It still hurt to watch your figure fade away as the distance between you increased.
With fingers brushing through his hair, Druig found it even harder to leave your side. He tried to think of the people of his village, how they needed their leader and his protection, but he wasn't an idiot. They were well-trained to handle themselves. Currently, the universe was pointing in the direction of you, and who was he to disobey?
Oh, right. He thought to himself.
"My love," he whispered into your temple, hoping it would pass through your skull and to your brain. Maybe then you'd be able to stop your affection and doting and he'd be able to leave. Even if he didn't want to.
And you were left wondering why. Why couldn't Druig stay? Was it so hard to stay by your side? Ikaris and Sersei had managed to love each other for centuries, and even if they had their troubles, that's all you asked for with Druig.
Your forehead touched his chest. "No. I can't." And you couldn't. There wasn't a single muscle or bone in your body that would let you let him go.
Druig felt the same and it only made it hurt more. It'd been two months since he'd stepped foot on the docks of New York, since he'd read that letter on your counter, since he'd lied in your bed for the first time in years. Druig was spoiling himself by staying with you for this long.
"I know you can," you could feel him turn cold and bitter again. "You've done it before."
"Don't make me do it again," you tried to sound strong but it was hard when he was tearing apart your soul. "I shouldn't have to be prepared for you to leave."
Druig looked away. You heart broke. "Why not? You'd think you'd be used to it by now." He clasped his hands in yours. Did he want you or not? He was making it impossible to tell.
You weren't sure what he'd said next, you'd stopped listening. But you were well-aware of his arms pushing yours away from him, of his lips leaving a delicate kiss on your lips that you didn't return. You were aware of the lack of his presence once he left your home and you could feel him drifting away.
a/n: i'm gonna start putting author's notes on the bottom here! well, i know it wasn't exactly heartbreaking but it's heart-wrenching. and there will be a part two soon!

Eternal Love - Part 1
pairing: druig x makkari x female reader
summary: reader wants to help fight the bad guys but she’s kind of clumsy so Makkari and Druig are worrying about her 24/7 because their S/O is a well intentioned idiot.
word count: 895
author note: this is definitely going to have more parts! next chapter makkari is going to be added into the mix :)
Druig had never been an open book, but after 3 years of dating, he had opened up to you. You had been shocked, to say the least, but it was nothing compared to what you felt now, and you were sure Druig felt ten times worse. You could tell he was upset from the clenching of his jaw and his knit together brows.
You were leaning against a wall in the corner, silently observing. You could tell that the man with the Scottish accent didn’t appear to like Druig very much. Ikaris, you believed his name was, barely shifted his gaze away from Sersi, but surprisingly, the younger girl, Sprite, had her eyes fixed on him. What an interesting dynamic, you pondered silently. You prided yourself in being incredibly observant, able to pick up on small details that others would miss.
Sersi was pleading for Druig to join them, but he looked unaffected, and you could tell that he had already made up his mind. “I’m sorry Sersi, I really am… But I have a life here,” he said quietly, his eyes flickering towards you.
“Actually, I think you should go with them,” you said, surprising yourself. Druig looked at you in shock, a hurt expression flashing across his face before closing off. He stalked over to you and grabbed your hand, motioning towards the doors.
When you were outside, away from the prying eyes of his friends, he turned to face you before speaking in a whisper, “I’ve put that part of my life behind me, you know that. The only thing I want is to have a life, with you.”
You sighed wearily, “I want a life with you too, that’s why you have to do this. Who knows how long we’ll have until this Emergence thing happens. Days, weeks, months.. It’s not enough, I want to have our entire life together.” You cupped his cheek with your hand and he leaned into it, closing his eyes slightly. After a few minutes, he pulled away, nodding.
He went to tell the others but you stayed outside, watching the village. He had created an entirely new life here. A little slice of utopia away from the real world and its problems of greed, starvation, war, and poverty. Part of you wished you could run away with him, protect him, but you knew you couldn’t. Your train of thought were cut off when you heard an inhuman scream in the distance.
The events that followed were a blur, Druig had all but locked you in one of the many buildings with the orders to “stay put.” He had kissed your cheek before running off, leaving you alone with your thoughts as you listened to his friends being slaughtered.
You could hear yelling from outside and you were restless, hopping from foot to foot. How could you hide like a coward while the Eternals put their lives on the line? Even Kingo’s valet was out there, part of the action, or at least filming it.
Making up your mind, you unlocked the door and crept out. Your heart was beating a mile a minute and you were terrified that those things could hear it.
The young girl, Sprite, had been flung to the ground by the Deviant creature. It advanced, readying it’s tentacle like appendages to strike. Picking up a rock from the ground, you chucked it at the Deviant’s head, hoping to buy her some time. It missed, quite horribly, but it served to catch the creature’s attention and it turned towards you, giving Sprite a chance to scramble up. The thing narrowed it’s eyes into slits and you ran, but you were no match for it’s speed.
It pounced on you, causing you to screamed in terror, trying to wriggle from it’s grasp when suddenly, a ball of light hit its side, flinging it off you and into a wall.
Kingo, the movie star, offered you a hand and you took it, shaking. “Thank you so much,” you choked out, reeling from your near death experience. You could still smell the thing’s rancid breath.
“Anytime,” he said, looking off into the distance. When you followed his gaze, you saw his valet filming, giving him a thumbs up. “I am an Eternal, a protector of mankind. I was just doing my job.” Lowering his voice to a conspiratory whisper, he leaned in slightly, “Plus, Druig would murder me if you died.”
The monster roared angrily in the distance, brushing itself off, “And that’s my cue,” he sighed.
After the battle, Druig stormed up to you. Apparently he had heard of your little brush with death. He examined every inch of you, looking for the slightest scratch. “Never do that again,” he ordered, his voice trembling slightly. He brushed a strand of hair away from your face with shaking hands and you realized he was terrified he would lose you.
“I’m all right,” you reminded him, gently, “we’re alright.” As if it was an afterthought, you added, “plus, I’m guessing I’ll be pretty close to the Deviants on a regular basis… You know, since I’m coming with you.”
His face said it all.

My little Versailles | Druig × gn!reader
Masterlist - Requests are open!
When I tell you I SOBBED writing this I love this song sm. I'm honestly proud of how it came out.
Song inspo: Fourth Of July
Synopsis: After the events in Tenochitilan (the eternals growing apart), you decide to stand by Druig on his decisions, although it hurt you deep to leave your family, and things didn't work out exactly how you planned.
A/N: I changed the place where Druig went after leaving the eternals so the fic would make sense with the song lyrics! I know the whole point of Amazon is that is isolated and all but let's ignore this for a sec.
Warning: angst (as you may notice from now on, I do, in fact, enjoy a lot writing sad things), this one is smaller than I wished for, but it was very emocional for me to write because this song TEARS ME APART.
Word count: 1237
(not my gif)
"Did you get enough love, my little dove
Why do you cry?
And I'm sorry I left, but it was for the best
Though it never felt right
My little Versailles."
📍Tenochitilan • 1521 d.C.
A heated argument between your colleagues happened before your eyes. You felt like your world was falling apart and you couldn't do anything about it. Why couldn't everyone stick together for god sakes?
'But she won't be Thena anymore' as you saw Makkari sign at the others.
"What if it happens again? She could've killed you. She could've killed all of us" Kingo says, with probably the most serious tone you ever saw him speak before.
"Please..." begged Thena "Please, I want to remember. I want to remember my life" you were standing by Druig's side. When you saw the pain in her eyes you couldn't hold your tears. When you leaned to hold his hand you felt him tense up once he heard Ajak's words.
"It's not important if you remember or not. Your spirit will remain. You'll always be Thena deep inside". He held your hand tightening the grip, as if he was giving you a silent message that he wasn't controling himself anymore. "Trust me" you heard Ajak whisper. With that. You saw your boyfriend's jaw close strongly. He was about to blow.
"Why should she trust you?" you heard the accent you love so much say. There was a hurt tone on his voice that you could tell he was trying to hide. You feel his hand leaving yours as he takes a step to the side, being now right at the top of the Pyramid stairs. "You're asking her to let you erase who she is." He completed with anger, but still holding up.
"Druig, I know you're upset"
"Upset?" Druig yells. His tone surprising everyone. He looks at Ajak. At that moment you could swear that if looks could kill. She wouldn't be standing there. "We've trusted you for seven thousand years and look where you've gotten us." Your eyes were blurred by the tears while he let out everything he held up for so long, you being the only one who knew every single one of these deep thoughts of his. "I've watched humans destroy eachother, when I could stop it all on a heartbeat. Do you know what that does to someone after centuries? Could our mission have been a mistake? Are we really helping this people build a better world, huh?"
Once he says that you take step to his side and putting a hand on his shoulder as you whisper to him "Dru...". His eyes softened as he looked at you and let out a "Sorry, but I have to do this, my love." He grips your hand back, giving it a gentle squeeze. A reminder that any of that anger he was holding had to do with you, whatsoever. Doing it he let go of you, but you didn't leave his side while he turned to the door right beside him and walked towards the stairs.
You hear his voice again. "We're just like the soldiers out there. Pawns to their leaders. Blinded by loyalty." He takes a pause to glance at you. You nod at him, not quite sure about what were you agreeing with, much less knowing what the hell he was going to do, but it's not like that mattered anyways. You'd follow him wherever.
"It ends now" he says while his eyes shine in a scary golden light. And watch as the soldiers leave their weapons and the desperate screams for help finally stop. You couldn't say you felt a certain relief by the sudden silence, allowing yourself to finally take a deep breath by hearing nothing but the sound of the fire.
On the side of your sight you could glance at Ikaris aiming to touch Druig's shoulder to make him stop what he was doing. You were quick on grabbing his forearm and pushing him to the wall by your side as fast as you could. Although you hated turn on your family like this. Druig was your everything. As much as you were everything to him.
Still with teary eyes you stare angrily at Ikaris while he turns his look at Druig's direction and spits out "let them go." before the mind controller could answer to it, you stared at Ikaris deep in the eyes "If you want to stop this. You're gonna have to kill me."
And with that. You both went your unknown way without the Eternals. Togheter.
You knew you were safe with him. And different from the rest of the team, you agreed with his thoughts about humans. But that didn't mean it didn't hurt you leaving your family like this, specially leaving Thena while she was struggling against the Mad Wy'ry and doing nothing about it. Still. You followed him.
"Well you do enough talk
My little halk, why do you cry?
Tell me what did you learn from the Tillamook burn?
Or the Fourth of July?
We're all gonna die"
📍Oregon Coast Range, 1933
"The Great Fire hadn’t destroyed the trees. It had merely killed them, leaving them standing as massive snags that, each summer, got drier and more flammable."
After the both of you left. You went to the Tillamook forest, a place that for some reason, Druig seemed to be found with. And you we're pretty much okay with it. Since you had him. Where you were living wasn't exactly a matter to you.
After centuries of building a life at this place. A misterious fire grew out of the trees. Taking everything you had in the blink of an eye. Not even you could stop it. It was too much.
Now, you both saw yourselves on a dead end. Again side by side. Watching as the fire took away long years of history. The scene seemed to be bringing back memories.
You sat besides your partner in complete silence, watching as the the loud fire took the place of the trees, that were long dried and nearly lifeless. Just standing in there. Waiting for the right moment to fall. You put your head on his shoulder, still silent.
You could hear Druig's light sobs while now touching him, and that made your heart break into a million pieces. The world was now like this, just as he was now, hopeless. While nations struggled with the Great Depression and he saw humans as they sunk themselves on a pile of crisis and death. The first world war had just happened. And specially considering the time you both lived, it was all pretty recent to you, too much new weapons, too much cruelty. All too much. You were now forced to see your beloved humans live the consequences of it. Of their own creations and ambition. And there was nothing you could do about it. Not anymore.
The nature was crumbling, falling apart. And now, just like many other spots around the globe it was happening to your home. The place both of you struggled to protect, were promises were made and dreams were built. It was all down on flames. Tillamook was burning.
"We'll start over" you said to him, wanting to sound as hopeful as you could, but not really sure if you made it. "Togheter" you saw him trying to smile to you as he nodded. You heard a quiet, yet so sweet "Yes, my love" come out of his lips. Making you smile. "Togheter".
At least you had each other.
And that would never change.
"Shall we look at the moon, my little loon
Why do you cry?
Make the most of your life, while it is rife
While it is light"

✧. In Every Lifetime ✧. Chapter 1 - The Start
nav // marvel m.list // series m.list // ko-fi ✧.* word count: 4.7k ✧.* warnings: suicide, suggestive themes NSFW ✧.* genre: NSFW // fluff with angst (future fluff)
Druig knew his time with you would be short, if only he knew just how short it was.
Despite his more reclusive manner, Druig fancies himself a little bit of entertainment with the humans from time to time. He enjoys watching parties, albeit, from a distance, instead of partaking in them like his fellow Eternals, Sersi, Sprite, and Kingo seem to love. Instead, he prefers to watch the humans from afar as they converse.
Though he does not show it, as time goes, he grew to care for the humans around him. Their complex feelings and thoughts, not to mention their tenacity, determination, and fearlessness, stuck out to him. Unlike him and his friends, the humans weren’t immortal. They didn’t possess the powers he and his fellow Eternals indulge on. They simple had their intelligence to differentiate them from Earth’s other species.
And yet, despite all that, they were able to grow more intelligent by the day. They still strive to wake up the next morning even if they know it may just be their last. They aren’t afraid to live.
In the centre of it all was a dancer.
Druig has watched you from afar for quite some time now, a dancer whose compassion knows no bounds. Babylon wasn’t a big city after all, he could watch you from afar without you knowing for a while. Even if that statement did sound rather creepy. He reasons that he’s just trying to make sure you stay safe.
You were one of those humans that seemed to possess more compassion and kindness in your heart than the rest of your peers.
Your tenderness seems to reach out to all manner of life forms too.
Whether that were plants or animals, you treated them with the amount of dignity and respect he never thought was possible in a human. While you were an odd fellow, sometimes slinking out of crowds to no one knows where. Only reappearing a few hours later with a more jovial smile. Druig still seems to be completely enamoured by you.
“Tending to your plants again, are you?” He spoke in Babylonian when he ‘accidentally’ bumps into you.
You were balancing two pots of rather large plants on both hands when you bumped into the Eternal. Almost dropping the two objects if not for Druig, who quickly steadied you and caught one of the pots about to slip from your grasp. He took it from your hands as you thanked him and apologized for not being careful enough. He only smiled and walked with you towards your destination, holding the pot in his hands.
“I simply thought that my garden was lacking in a variety of plants, and spring is to come, so I thought today was a good time to buy more.” You shrugged as you walked side by side with him towards your home.
The pot in your hand was rather heavy, so Druig, ever the gentleman, opened the door for you as you both made your way behind your home to your garden.
“This isn’t diverse enough for you?” He teased you while you placed the potted plant down and took the one in his hands. “There is always room for more plants.”
Druig simply smiled as he watched you take out the plants from their pots and mutter something under your breath before planting them in the ground of your garden. For a moment, he took his time to look around your garden. As a dancer, you didn’t receive much money, well you did, but not enough to allow you to be able to buy a home with a garden as large as this. But as he remembered, this home was gifted to you by another person whose life you had saved.
He was sure to add that to the list of odd things about you. Not only did you constantly mutter something underneath your breath, something even he can’t hear. You also seem to always be around when chaos unfolds. Putting you right in the middle of death. Yet, you always come out of it alive, not unscathed, but alive, and with another life with you.
In every accident that seemed to happen when someone’s life was in danger, you would be able to rescue their life. Of course, this didn’t happen every single time, you didn’t have powers like him or any of the other Eternals, but you saved enough lives for it to be noticeable.
Like the time a building collapsed and you somehow were ablet o pull a child form under the building right before the collision. Druig remembered how much he cursed at himself that night when he saw you with battered and bruised. After you had shielded some of the heavy debris with your body to protect the child.
He thought that he should’ve been the one there, hypnotise the child to run away or do something. Not you, the human who was much more fragile than he was.
Or the other time where a Deviant somehow made its way into the city walls and started destroying the surrounding area. A few lives were lost that day, but more were saved by him and the others. You were there as well, pulling people back from the monster’s jaws, slinking away when the monster’s claws were mere centimetres away from you.
That night you suffered a few broken bones and could not dance for a few months. Months Druig spent with you so you don’t suffer from the most terrible thing in the world.
Boredom.
“Are you going to keep standing there, watching me do all the hard work or ar you going to help me by getting that watering can beside you?” Druig was quickly cut off from his train of thoughts when your voice reached his ears.
He straightened himself from where he was leaning on and chuckled. Grabbing the watering can beside him and giving it over to you. After offering him a small thanks, you spoke again.
“You know,” you paused, “I’ve been noticing something strange lately.” Druig felt like he knew where this was going, yet he still entertained it, leaning back to the wall and crossing his arms in front of his chest as he smirked. “Really? What could that be?”
You laughed as you wiped the dirt off your fingers; before standing up to look at the Eternal in front of you. You weren’t an idiot. You knew of his advances towards you. Despite this, you knew better than to fall in love with him. And yet, your heart still yearns for his touch and his lips on yours.
“There’s this man, who keeps following me around. He thinks I cannot tell, but, you see, I can always tell when his eyes are on me.” You poke as Druig hummed, feigning confusing with a quirk of his rows. “He’s a very curious man. He has these odd powers that make him truly magnificent. The people would praise him like God.” You paused as you whispered the last part, “But I think he’s a thief.”
That made Druig truly surprised. A thief? Him? Maybe Makkari. But him? “A thief you say? What makes you say that about this man?” It was then you walked closer to him.
Mere centimetres away from the man plaguing your dreams for months now. You thought.
May the Gods forgive me.
And let yourself fall in love.
Something you may regret in a couple of days.
“Because he has stolen my heart.” At that moment, you closed the distance between you and him. Placing your lips on his as he chuckled, he saw it coming; of course, he was just waiting to see when it’ll happen.
Not caring about the light dirt that still coated your clothes and hands, he placed one of his hands on your waist and pulled you closer to him. Flushing both your bodies together as his lips greedily took in yours. Like you, he may regret doing something like this in the years to come. But right now? With one of his hands on the small of your back and the other behind your head, deepening the kiss. He couldn’t care less.
He’ll deal with the consequences later.
If only he knew how soon those consequences would come.
Needing air, you pulled yourself away from him. Placing both your hands on his chest as you looked up at Druig with shining eyes. Usually, he’d make an offhanded comment on how you were making a mess of his clothes with your dirty hands. But now, all he did was softy caress your cheek with his hand, the other making mindless patterns on your back.
Druig had never felt o at peace before in his long life. And maybe it was a curse to him that he felt this way towards a human, destined to die long before he even starts to age. If ageing was even possible for an Eternal such as himself. But he couldn’t help it.
Yes, your kindness, compassion, and humility made him first feel entranced by you. Few humans were willing to put their lives on the line to save a stranger. But you weren’t the only human that wasn’t heartless; you weren’t notable in that regard.
So, it was your personality, grace, imperfections, love for plants and animals, and surprisingly green thumb that made your plants thrive even in the coldest of winters that made him fall so desperately in love with you. Yes, it was in the way you carried yourself, in the way you spoke, in the way you moved, in the way you, to simply state it, exist.
Druig has always been enamoured by humans’ ability to take their little time and make it worthwhile. But with you, that seemed to have doubled.
As if you knew every second you lived had to be cherished and loved.
That was the thing he loved most about you.
Call him a fool if you must. Because he was a fool, a fool in love.
You giggled softly when your gaze broke form his overly intense ones before pulling away and patted his chest lightly. Turning around to tend to a particular rare flower, Druig smiled. He watched the way your hands softly glazed over its white petals. He remembered that flower. He gave it to you as an apology a year ago.
“I didn’t think anyone could render you speechless.” You teased with your back facing him.
Druig stayed silent as a mischievous smirk crept up onto his features. As you started to check the leaves of a different plant that he, for the life of him, could not remember the name of, his arms wrapped around your body from behind. Pulling you flush against his chest as he leaned his cheek against yours.
You started laughing when his nimble fingers began tickling your sides.
“Druig!” you yelled as a warning. “Stop!!!” you yelled again between your laughter.
“You want me to stop, beautiful?” he stopped for a moment; letting you finally breathe as you giggled and leaned into his muscled torso. “Yes. Thank you.” You breathlessly mutter.
Druig didn’t let you go though, he kept his hands on the front of your body, swaying side to side. Before whispering in your ear, “No.”
Followed by his fingers immediately tickling you once again. This time it had completely caught you off guard and your wretched instincts, decided to kick in. Your elbow, all of the sudden, hit him straight to his gut. Druig stuttered back as he watched you quickly turn around, both your hands closing your mouth as regret and fear rushed over you.
He would chuckled if it didn’t cause some pain to flicked in his gut.
“You’re stronger than you look.” He spoke as he doubled over. “Gods! I’m sorry, I warned you!”
You tried to keep a light air with your jokes, still, Druig saw how panicked you looked. It confused him slightly. Whilst you were stroner than Druig could ever expect, he had seen how nimble and strong you could be when you pulled or pushed people out of the way from oncoming danger. Your reaction, wide eyes filled with shock and fear, was the curious thing.
Though just as quickly as the pain came, it went. His main priority was now ensuring that you didn’t hurt him. He let a careless smile make its way to his face as he moves towards you. Placing his hands on your cheeks, he chuckled, “I’m alright, my love.”
Those two words felt so natural on his tongue. As if he was meant to call you his love all his life. And hearing those words, he could see your eyes sparkle for a moment. Only for it to suddenly disappear as your brows furrowed. As if you had heard or seen something displeasing to you.
Druig was just about to ask what was wrong, but you quickly shook your head and turned to look back at him. Smiling widely now. All before your lips touched his. This time, with an edge of hurriedness to it.
Druig smiled into the kiss as your hands begun roaming from his chest to his back, pulling him closer to you as the two of you made your way towards the bedroom. Months and months of pining and push and pull between the two of you seemed to have finally reached its peak.
This time, he was the one who pulled back. “I thought you had dance practice for your performance in a couple of days?” he mischievously asked as you shrugged. “I don’t think they’ll mind if I miss a day.”
You smirked as Druig’s hands begun edging the lines of your tunic and pants, “Hm, I don’t think they will.” Was all he said.
That night, Druig spent in the comfort of your touch, of your skin, of your soft voice. Of pleasure and thrill. Your hands roaming his skin, his hands roaming yours. He didn’t know if Heaven existed, or if it was something humans created. But whatever it was, he was sure it felt like this.
Your body against his as you gripped the sheets under you, his groans in your ears as pleasure flowed through his entire being. It truly felt like Heaven.
He wished he could make you see the stars and make you feel the way he does every single day, but alas, your life was fleeting. What he could do was take use of what time he did have.
If only he knew how little that time truly was.
~
A few days later, as night took over, festivities ran high.
Druig went into the city’s centre late into the party, knowing he didn’t really have a reason to surround himself with drunken mortals until a few moments before your performance. The moment he did step into the great hall, he could already see Sprite telling stories of battles and the endless glories of Eternals and humans alike, using her apparitions.
Kingo was dancing with some other drunken men and women, laughing alongside them as they tripped over one another. He could see Ikaris and Sersi conversing in one of the far corners of the room. The two of them had bright smiles on their faces as they chuckled and laughed at what the other must’ve said.
Druig wasn’t usually a jealous person, but he did occasionally get jealous. He was jealous of seeing the two of them. It would take an idiot not to see they were softly falling in love with one another. And unlike him, their love could blossom and grow in the thousands of years they’ll live through. Whilst his love would have to wilt and die the moment you closed your eyes.
Something that’ll come sooner than he thought.
He shook his head, ridding himself of those macabre thoughts. Perhaps he should take a leaf out of the humans’ book and cherished what short life they had. Mortality was never a thing he had to face until he fell head over heels for you.
In the corner of his eye, he could see Ajak watching him. Well, she was always watching everyone form afar. Her motherly tendencies and instinct never seem to halt even in the festive environment. Thena, Gilgamesh, and Phastos were talking to some other humans on one of the tables. Well, it was more like Phastos talking and the rest listening. Though seeing from Gilgamesh’s rather bored expression, he was looking for a chance to leave the conversation.
The only Eternal he didn’t see was Makkari.
But he didn’t think too much of that. Makkari had always been the Eternal with a penchant for mischief, with him in close second. She was probably out exploring some part of the city none of them could get to or stealing something that interested her whilst the people partied.
Suddenly, the music dulled, the drums people were playing silenced, and that had been the moment he’d been waiting for. Druig slinked back to the part of the hall where not many could see him, despite him being able to clearly see the middle of the hall where everyone had parted away.
Slowly, a different tune started to play. One made of more melody than that of the festive drums of before. One that had a beat, a rhythm, and a tune. From the entrance of the hall came a slew of dancers. They all dressed in the same beautiful clothing that matched the interior of the hall. With their talents and grace, everyone loved them.
Despite their similar way of clothing themselves, Druig’s eyes easily landed on yours. The two of you made eye contact for a while when you went in, he grinned when you bashfully broke your gaze.
As you moved your body across the ground with grace and agility. He couldn’t look away. Enamoured and entranced by your elegance. He let his lips tweak up to a very rare soft smile. One he immediately retreated when he suddenly felt someone tap his shoulder, right in time for the song to finish and the dancers to take their leave after basking in the loud cheers of the audience.
When Druig looked to his side, he groaned in displeasure. Staring up at him was the mischievous grin of a certain Eternal that he couldn’t locate earlier that night. Makkari.
She grinned widely at him.
“What?” he signed as well as spoke. It wasn’t like the people around him could understand his language either way. Makkari only laughed loudly as a response, “I see your eyes was stuck on a particular dancer.” She teased. “I also see the way you follow her around like a creep.”
She laughed once she finished signing that last part of her statement. Druig cocked his head to the side. Was it that obvious? As if she could sense his thoughts, Makkari quickly signed.
“It isn’t that obvious, don’t worry too much, but I do like watching the people here and I,” she paused, “I see the way she looks at you. Are you going to do anything about it?” She queried.
Makkari had no way of knowing that Druig had already done something about it. The only question in his mind was, what now? He wanted to pursue you more; you didn’t have much time left in your life.
Although right now Babylon was at peace, that didn’t mean the human lifespan now was very long. As far as he knew, the average age where human women died were around their 40s, you were just about to reach 30 this year. You only had so long left.
He should do something about it.
Cherish the years you have left with him. But would it be worth the heartbreak after? And did you even want this? You could’ve wanted to just love someone that would die with you. He could read your mind to ifnd out the answers to his questions, but he had sworn to you once this friendship bloomed to never do that. And he’d rather die than betray your trust in him.
“You should do something about it.” Makkari signed before smiling at her friend and leaving him to lament on her words.
It was at that point that Druig realized something.
He didn’t care how long he had with you. He knew you loved him; if you didn’t you wouldn’t have kissed him. So, whatever time he has left with you, he’d gladly spend it by your side.
After this realization, he immediately bolted out of the door to look for you. He didn’t know where you went, but an idea went into his head once he saw one of the dancers. Not caring to ask, he went into her mind and searched if she knew where you went. The answers that came to him puzzled him.
You had separated from the group early on after they had left the hall, and this particular dancer, whose mind he inhibits now, saw you making your way to the rooftop of the great structure that was the great hall.
For all his time watching you, he had never seen you even go there or allude to wanting to go there. It was a beautiful place to watch the stars and the city below, but it wasn’t somewhere he thought interested you.
With a puzzled mind, Druig made the ascend towards the rooftop of the great hall. When he reached the top, his heart dropped to the ground. There you were, standing extremely close to the edge. Watching the ground below you.
He hesitantly called out to you. When you gasped and almost lost balance of your footing, Druig swore he could feel his heart stop just for a second.
You slowly and carefully turned around, now facing him.
“What are you doing?” he spoke, hesitantly and slowly made his way towards you.
By the way your face scrunched up in a dilemma, you seemed to not know what to tell him.
“Step away from the edge my love, you’re going to get hurt.” He was now a few metres away from you. He had half a mind to just use his powers and get you out of danger, but he stopped himself.
When he took another step forward, you yelled at him. “Druig, please! Don’t- Don’t come any closer.”
That sudden fear in your voice caused him to stop immediately. What were you doing??? What was happening???
“I-” you could only stare at him with tears brimming the corner of your eyes, “Why do you have to make this so difficult for me?!” You screamed at him.
To be completely honest, Druig ddidn’t know what you were talking about. He hadn’t seen the signs; he hadn’t seen you seemingly wanting to hurt or kill yourself. But perhaps he was just blind to it, and for that, he hated himself.
He called out to you again, his voice bringing the tears in the corners of your eyes to fully pour out. You sobbed softly as Druig wracked his brain for something to say, anything at all.
How he wished he could just approach you, pull you from the edge and comfort you. He loathed seeing you cry. But he couldn’t. He couldn’t risk coming any closer to you in case that you decided to do the unfathomable.
“Why are you doing this?!” Was the only thing that came out.
You closed your eyes and shook your head violently to the side, whispering and muttering something under your breath. Something he couldn’t hear.
He’s had enough. He cherished your trust in him and he’d hate to break it. But he cared about you more. He couldn’t lose you. Not like this. Not when he had just realized how much love he could give you.
At a moment’s notice, he used his power against you, only to feel a sudden drawback, a terrible headache swirled his head. And you, didn’t move away from the edge. His powers. Didn’t work.
He called out to you again. This time, cautious and absolutely terrified.
The headache grew tenfold in size and pain as he tried, again and again, to force your body to move towards him. To get you to safety, to convince you that you didn’t need to do this. That whatever was pushing you to kill yourself at this moment was irrelevant and didn’t matter.
But it wouldn’t work.
Panic rose through his entire system. Something he didn’t feel very often. But at this moment, with the back of your feet at this point dangling dangerously on edge and his powers seemingly unaffecting you. Terror filled him.
“I’m sorry.” You whispered, “I wished we had more time.”
Druig’s legs moved before he could think; he practically ran towards you, desperate to do something instead of standing around. But it was too late by the time he was at arm’s distance towards you. You had leaned back. You had fallen from the building. You had ended your life.
There was a small thud when your body hit the ground, followed by hundreds of screams. The festivities stopped almost immediately. And so did he.
He stayed silent, processing what had just happened. In the end, when he realized this wasn’t just a sick and twisted dream being played on him, he dropped to his knees.
Druig stared at where you had just stood minutes ago, before you took your own life. In his mind, he berated himself for not being able to do something about it. The fact that your mind was immune to his powers was the least of his concerns at this moment.
He could hear Makkari run through the stairs leading up to the rooftop. She stood in shock at the top of the staircase, taking in the sight in front of her. Of Druig, the one Eternal that had never seemed to show any kind of weakness, suddenly on his knees, helplessly watching the spot where the woman he loved once stood.
When Makkari made her way towards her friend, she didn’t use her speed. She took her time for once. Walking towards Druig softly before coming down to her knees beside him as well.
Her right arm reached to his right shoulder, her left on his left, whilst her cheek leaned towards his left shoulder. Offering him a silent comfort, she leaned sideways towards him, embracing him in a side hug. He didn’t move, didn’t react.
He simple stared.
Oh, all of the things he would give to just see you once more. See your bright smile even when you had broken yet another bone from saving the life of a kitten who was just about to be hit by a horse. Hear your voice as you rambled about how someone was kind enough to give you a rare plant form their travels. Fell your lips against his own as the two of you chuckled in the privacy of your garden.
There were many things Druig, an Eternal, didn’t feel much compared to the humans around him. Life experience allowed him to do so. Mortality was a human attribute he never thought would look at him straight in his eyes.
He didn’t know how to feel, what to think, how to act.
Very time he had felt disturbed or helpless, like the times Ajak wouldn’t let him intervene as humans brawled one another, he reacted with anger. He didn’t like feeling sad. He preferred to be angry.
So that was what he did.
He shrugged Makkari’s touch away from him and abruptly stood up. Making his way towards the staircase, his shoulders shoving into Ikaris as the rest of the Eternals finally reached the top of the rooftop to see what happened. He didn’t care for the way Sersi or Ajak called out to him until Makkari stopped them.
He felt angry.
Resentful almost.
At himself for not being able to do anything.
At the world for making humans so damn fragile and mortal.
And finally.
At fate for making him fall so deeply in love with someone who he knew he had a limited time with. Only that he didn’t realize how truly limited that time was.
As he made his way outside the hall, he heard one of the dancers cry. “We were just about to celebrate her birthday. What could push her to do such a thing?!” She wailed into someone’s shoulder.
Oh, fate was truly cruel, wasn’t it?
Your birthday, and not only did he not know, he also had to witness your death on your fucking birthday.
How cruel the world was.

I'll Be Seeing You pt. 6
I’ll Be Seeing You
Druig x Eternal!Reader
Inspired by “I’ll be Seeing You” by Billie Holiday.
Sorry this one is so long, it sort of got away from me. I hope you all enjoy!!
Part One Part Two Part Three Part Four Part Five Part Seven Part Eight Part Nine
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You walked into your room with a large smile plastered to your face. Your heart practically soared from the day’s happenings. So many emotions hand flown through you. You were just thankful that Druig was alive. Seeing him near deaths door was truthfully a memory that would be burned into your mind forever. Shaking the thought, you hummed lightly as you cleaned yourself up. Satisfied with your work, you quickly made your way to the lab. Druig was already waiting for you, his armor complete and showing no sign of the days earlier attack.
“It’s about time. I thought you got lost.” He joked, taking a bite from an apple he had found on the table.
“You’re already eating? Dru, we’re literally going to the village for dinner.” You laughed as you made your way over to him.
“Okay, so? Just call it a pre-dinner snack.” He smirked though a full mouth.
“You’re ridiculous.” You laughed, shaking your head. “Now come on, we’re already late.”
The two of you made your way to the exit, talking casually about the day. Stepping into the twilight, you surveyed your new surroundings. A large stone bridge took form before you, small torches of light burning along it’s edges. Stone temples lined the forest to your left and right. You stood in wonderment as you took in the view.
“It’s beautiful here, don’t you think?” you asked softly, mouth agape.
“It is but I wouldn’t get used to it.” Druig said, falling in step beside you. “Ajak says we won’t be here long. These people need help fending off Deviants. Once we clear them all away, we’ll be heading somewhere new.”
“Did she say how long we might be here?” You asked, tearing your eyes away from a smaller temple to your left.
“No. I suspect Arishem will let her know when it’s time.” You could sense the slight irritation in his voice. You suspected it was from the day’s events, brushing it off.
Coming to the end of the bridge, a dirt pathway led you into the village where the path widened. A few villagers milled about, casting their eyes down at the sight of newcomers in their home. You waved slightly at a group of young girls playing outside of their home. One waved back, smiling a gap-toothed smile back at you. Moving along, you began to notice the destruction from the Deviant attack. A small smattering of buildings had been leveled, young men and whom you suspected were their fathers were doing their best to clean up in the late afternoon sun.
“How many were lost in the attack?” you asked, taking in the scene before you.
“I’m not sure.” Druig just shrugged, sadness tainting his eyes.
Continuing down the small road, you began to smell the spices of fresh food. Following your nose, you made your way to a large stone building in the town center. Beautiful vines covered the front of it, pink and yellow flowers dappled the greenery. The building rose high into the air, four spires coming to a point on the ends and middle. Two guards stood on each side of the large wooden doors in front of you. They each stepped forward to open the doors for you and Druig to move inside the building. Coming into the open room, you heard laughter coming from the hallway to your left. You followed behind Druig as he began to make his way toward the noise. You were greeted by a long table covered in lavish dishes, spilling over with fresh fruit and vegetables. The food smelled heavenly, and you began to realize how hungry you had become. You could see your fellow Eternals sat around the table, enjoying their dinner. Ajak was at the end of the table, speaking in hushed tones with the leader of the village.
“There you are! We’ve been waiting for you.” Ajak stood, gesturing for you and Druig to have a seat. “This is Y/N. I believe you met Druig this morning.”
The leader of the village smiled in your direction, bowing his head.
“It’s an honor to meet you, Y/N.” he said, smiling kindly. “I am glad to see you up and about, my friend.” He said, directing his attention to Druig.
“Thank you, sir. We appreciate your kindness.” You bowed your head before smiling back at the man.
“I saved you a spot, Y/N.” Phastos called, holding up a drink. You took it, thanking him. Druig made his way to the opposite end of the table, pulling up a chair beside Makkari.
“I’m glad you’re here, Phastos.” You said, your mouth watering from the smell of the food in front of you.
“Well, a good friend told me I should leave the house every now and then.” He smiled before taking a sip from his drink. It was good to see everyone together. You loved small moment like this. These people, this family meant everything to you, and you couldn’t imagine your life without them. The rest of the night went smoothly, joyful stories full of laughter filled the air. These people had graciously accepted your presence, knowing you were there to help keep them safe from the terrors that roamed outside their village gates.
“So, Y/N. You and Druig?” Phastos asked casually.
“What? No way. We’re just friends, that’s all.” You said, casting a glance in Druig’s direction. He, Makkari and Kingo were in deep discussion over who would win in a sparring match between Gilgamesh and Ikaris.
“Yeah, two friend in love.” Gilgamesh chimed in from the other side of the table.
“No, guys, really. We’re just friends and that’s it.” You said, pushing your plate away.
“Y/N, Thena and I are friends. You and Druig are another story.” Gilgamesh said with a shrug. “You’re just too stubborn to admit it to one another.”
Gilgamesh had a point. You and Druig had never really acted on your feelings until now and as much as you knew how deeply your feelings ran for the man, you couldn’t be sure how deep his were for you. You loved all the people sat around this table and you knew they loved you in return. Was Gilgamesh right? Did Druig’s feelings for you go deeper than what you felt for the others. You wanted so badly what Sersi and Ikaris had but you felt like it was just wishful thinking. Trying to bring your focus in, you decided to change the subject.
“Sprite,” you called to the farther end of the table. “I think it’s time we repay the wonderful people of this kingdom for their kindness. What do you think?” you smiled toward the girl, watching her face light up.
“It seems Y/N would like to give you a gift as a token of our immense appreciation.” Ajak said to the village leader. “Sprite will join her and together, they will tell us a story. Gather your people so they may all partake in this wonderous exchange.” The leader bowed gracefully, turning to speak to one of his advisors.
“We’re not finished with this conversation, y/n/n.” Phastos said, giving you a look.
“Am I dreaming, or did you say you wanted to hear one of my songs earlier?” You gave him a cheeky grin before moving from your seat. Making your way to the far end of the table, you stopped beside Sprite. She was sat between Thena and Ikaris, slowly casting small gazes to the man on her right.
“Sprite?” You said, bringing her focus to you.
“Yeah, sorry.” She said, casting her glance down before moving from her seat.
“So, what did you have in mind?” She asked, a curious glint in her eyes.
You leaned down and whispered in the girls’ ear. Her eyes began to sparkle with delight as she listened to your idea.
“Should be easy enough.” she said, crossing her arms.
Everyone rose from their seats at the table, a few of them bringing their drinks with them.
“I’m telling you, Druig. Ikaris would crush Gil. No offense.” Kingo said, shrugging in Gilgamesh’s direction.
“None taken.” Gilgamesh slurred slightly, pouring himself another drink before following Thena from the room. Everyone else began to trickle out giving you and Sprite small words of encouragement as they did so. Following behind them, a small tingle of nerves began to build in your stomach. For some reason, you were nervous tonight. Gilgamesh’s statement from earlier still rang in your ears.
You’re just too stubborn to admit it to one another.
“Focus Y/N, Focus.” You thought to yourself.
You walked slowly behind the others, trying to distract yourself from the earlier conversation. Maybe you should talk to Druig about how he felt. You had waited for so long for him to open up to you but was an admission of love the second day into, well, whatever this was just too much too soon? You shook your head, pushing the thoughts to the side. You could think on this later, right now you had a job to do. You filed in behind your family, following as they made their way into a large open room. People from the village had gathered there, some faces you recognized from the earlier walk with Druig. Smiling, you waved at the young girl from earlier. She smiled back, grabbing her mothers’ tunic and tugging lightly.
“That’s her, momma. The one I told you about earlier. I told you she was beautiful.” The little girl said, turning her gaze back to you.
“Yes, she is very beautiful.” Her mother smiled down at the girl before turning her eyes back to you.
“As are you, dear one.” You knelt down so you were at eye level with the small child.
“She’s been talking about you all afternoon.” Her mother smiled again, the lines at her eyes crinkling.
“That’s very sweet of you. What is your name?” You asked, taking the child’s hand.
“I’m Shravya.” She said, twisting the hem of her dress shyly.
“Shravya, what a lovely name.” You smiled, squeezing her hand. “I’m Y/N. I hope you enjoy this evening, dear one. You’ll have to tell me what you think after.” You stood, giving her one more squeeze before letting go of her hand. Crossing the room, you took note of the small group of villagers that had gathered in the space. Your family had gathered around, sitting at a large table that lined the far wall. The leader of the village was standing at the end of the table, waiting for you to take your place beside Sprite in the middle of the room.
“Welcome, everyone.” The leader said, gesturing to the people before him. “Please join me in welcoming our new friends to our village. They are here in peace, to help keep us safe from the monsters who come to tear us away from our loved ones. They have prepared something for us all as a gift for our hospitality."
“Ready, Sprite?” You asked, giving her an encouraging nod.
“Absolutely.” She nodded, smiling.
You closed your eyes, letting your power flow through you. Focusing your energy, a scene began to play in your minds eye. Your body pulsated with gold light, filling you up from head to toe. Opening your eyes, you began to sing. The beautiful melody trickled from your lips as the villagers’ eyes began to grow wide. Sprite began to create an illusion of a golden rainbow with small birds flying overhead. One of the women of the group let out a small cry, followed by light gasps of fear. The crowd began to step back, women holding their children tightly as some of the men drew weapons. Quickly, Druig stood from his place. Raising his arm, his eyes glowed a familiar gold color as he soothed the villagers. Faltering slightly, you looked from Sprite and back to Ajak. The woman gave you a small nod to keep going and you did so. Slowly, you watched the villagers eyes return to their original colors. Fear had been taken away as they watched, entranced by the spectacle before them. Sprite now created images of the night sky, followed by more birds. As the song came to an end, she finished her illusion with a small whisk of her hand. Your body returned to its original form as you stood before them, awaiting their approval. You held your breath, looking from one face to another. Finally, your sights landed back on the small girl. You smiled, hoping to ease her nerves. Slowly, she stepped from the crowd and came toward you. She approached quietly, turning to her mother for permission. Her mother gave an encouraging smile, tears glistening in her eyes. Turning back, you were surprised when her timid walk became a full out run. Bending over to catch her embrace, you smiled brightly as she came to land in your arms. The crowd sighed collectively, rejoicing in unison at the sight.
“That was amazing, Miss Y/N.” the little girl said, pulling back from your hug.
“Thank you, Shravya.” You smiled, cupping her cheek.
The night commenced in celebration. The villagers slowly began to mingle with you and your family, bringing small tokens of their appreciation. Plans were made for the next day to begin the rebuilding of the destroyed buildings and talks of a way to better protect the people of this community. Ikaris, Gilgamesh and Thena spoke in hushed tones with the leader and his head of security, mapping out the best places to begin building defense. Ajak also made mention of Ikaris and Sersi’s engagement, prompting many of the village women to squeal with delight.
“We can prepare a proper union in a months’ time.” One woman said to Sersi as she gave her congratulations.
“A month is it, then.” Sersi smiled brightly in Ikaris’ direction as he sent her a small wink.
Many Deviants showed up during the following weeks but the new defense system held up nicely. Phastos had better tracking on the large beasts and could give better warning when they would show up. You had decided to not ask Druig about his feelings, having been caught up in your evening performances that were so lovingly requested by the people of the village nightly. Stolen kisses and lingering touches between you two were all you could manage, Druig having his work cut out for him as news of your arrival slowly spread throughout the Gupta Empire. You spent a lot of time wandering around the growing city, meeting the people, especially the children, sometimes Druig in tow. They had all gravitated toward you and with Shravya’s help, you were able to get them to trust you more and more. You loved this new place. You weren’t sure how much time you had left here, but you were going to enjoy as much of it as you could. Druig’s favorite time was watching you with the children. You doted on each of them fondly, making sure to learn all their names. You had begun to keep a journal, writing down things that had happened to you throughout your days spent living among these people. It had been a gift from a village elder who had made it himself. It was bound in leather with an intricately laced the front and back. Soft pages of papyrus made up the pages, as gilded edges gleamed in the light of your room when you took to your writing every night. Before you knew it, a month had come and gone. There was a wedding to be had and you were so excited! You kept your promise to Sersi, a special song growing deep within you.
“Are you ready?” You asked, helping Sersi straighten the many layers of her wedding dress. She was wrapped in soft layers of silk, a small head dress placed on her forehead. You were dressed in y/f/c, with a scarf draped over your own y/h/c locks.
“I’m nervous.” She stated, a shaky smile coming to her face. She adjusted her necklace, fidgeting with the small rock absent-mindedly.
“Don’t tell me you’re having second thoughts.” You laughed, moving to the back of her and smoothing out her hair.
“Second thoughts?” Sprite said, appearing out of nowhere. She had a hopeful glint in her eyes, but you ignored it.
“No, Sprite. No second thoughts.” You said, not looking at the girl.
Sprite mumbled a low “whatever” before disappearing into nothing again.
“Is she alright?” Sersi asked, turning in Sprite’s direction.
“She’ll be alright. She’s just being Sprite.” You shrugged, trying to keep Sersi’s worrying at bay.
“Besides, this is your day.” You said, turning the woman to look at you. “And you look beautiful.” You smiled brightly at Sersi, wrapping your friend in a tight embrace.
“Thank you, Y/N. You’ve been so wonderful through all of this.” She said, pulling away.
“I would do anything for you, Sersi. You’re my best friend.” You smiled again, happy tears pricking your eyes. Sersi pulled you in for another hug, squeezing you softly. Pulling away again, she gave you a soft smile.
“You’re my best friend as well. That’s why I want you to understand this when I tell you I know your true feelings about Druig.” Sersi began, seeing the look on your face.
“Sersi, please.” You said, taking a small step back.
“No, Y/N. Listen to me.” Sersi said as she took your hand and pulled you over to take a seat on the small bed inside the room.
“I know you love him and I’m pretty sure he loves you. You two have been pining over one another for centuries now.” She said, holding both of your hands in hers. “I think it’s time you told him, don’t you?” You looked at Sersi for a long moment, surveying the emotion in her face. Steadying your breath, you finally let the words you’ve been struggling with flow forward.
“It’s true, I do love him. I have for a very long time. I’m just not sure if love is what he feels for me. I don’t want to tell him, and it push him away from me. We’ve been seeing one another in secret for the last month but I just haven’t had the nerve to confess.” You said, punctuating your statement with a sigh.
“Why would you think that? Everyone has seen the way he looks at you. Druig certainly isn’t the one to show emotion but when you’re in the room he cant keep his eyes off you. Can’t you see that?” She asked in somewhat disbeleaf. “Why didn’t you tell me any of this?”
“Because,” you said, taking one hand and rubbing your face. “We were in a new place, everyone had other things that were more important. Plus, I didn’t want to take anything away from you or Ikaris. You two had just gotten engaged the night Druig and I spent together. I didn’t want to make this about anyone else.”
“Oh, Y/N.” Sersi said, patting your hand. “That doesn’t matter. What matters is your happiness. Love can be a hard thing to find in this world, especially for us. Finding it in someone who knows everything about you, every one of your secrets, and can accept them fully without question is a rarity. Don’t let this slip away from you. You owe it to yourself and to Druig. Arishem knows he needs to hear it.” Sersi punctuated her statement with a laugh.
“You really think so?” You asked, biting your lip nervously.
“I do. Promise me you’ll talk to him?” She asked, rising from the bed.
“Okay, okay.” You threw your hands up in defeat. “But only for you. And after the wedding.” You said, crossing your arms.
“Deal.” She said, laughing. Just then Makkari appeared beside you.
“Ready?” She signed, a large smile on her lips.
“Yes, I’m ready.” Sersi let out a breath, followed by a smile. “I can’t believe this is happening.” You grabbed her hand and walked with her to the door. Two women were waiting there, followed by Ajak.
“Sersi.” Ajak said, placing her hands on each side of Sersi’s face. “I’m so proud of you. You and Ikaris will make a beautiful couple.” Ajak began to choke up slightly, dabbing the edges of her eyes with a bit of her scarf.
You found your way to the rest of your family. They were stationed in an open area decorated immaculately for the occasion. The same flowers you had seen the first night you arrived were placed here and there, along with large pots full of bright orange ones. Candles lit the altar where the wedding would be officiated. A man wearing robes of white and red stood there, awaiting the couple. You took your place alongside Kingo, giggling at his silly demeanor.
“I love weddings.” He said, choking up.
“Here they come!” Ajak said, not hiding the happy tears slipping down her face.
Sersi and Ikaris made their way toward the alter, followed by a group of onlookers and friends from the village. They each had rings of flowers around their necks, Sersi’s green stone necklace accentuated perfectly by the flowers. They approached the alter, the villagers moving away to give a view of the couple. Ikaris and Sersi took turns saying their vows, each bestowing words of love and appreciation for each other. When they were finished, the officiant turned to each of them. “May the gods hereby bond you in matrimony. Congratulations.” He stepped away from the couple as they embraced one another. You sighed with happiness, joy overflowing at the scene before you.
“Now we celebrate!” Ajak said, coming over and taking Ikaris and Sersi by the hand.
The reception was held outdoors, lit by the hanging candelabras and glow of the full moon. You enjoyed your night, dancing with your friends as the people of the village played music. You found your way to the drinks, taking one for yourself and downing it quickly.
“Enjoying yourself?” Makkari signed as she came up beside you.
“I am. You?” You smiled over the edge of your drink.
“Very much. Although, Kingo is getting a little out of hand. I think he’s had one too many.” She signed back, a smile on her face. “He’s telling the story of the time he “almost died” back in Babylon.”
“What a big baby.” You rolled your eyes. You took a moment to take in the scene before you. There was Kingo, like Makkari said. He had a group of men around him, wrapped on every word he was saying. Sprite was helping him out, using illusions to portray the scene. Thena and Gilgamesh were seated at a table, Thena laughing lightly at something Gil had said. The bride and groom were in the middle of the room, noticing nothing but themselves. Ajak was seated with the village leader, looking like their discussion was very serious. Then your eyes came to land on Druig. He and Phastos were standing in a corner off to themselves, both looking equally uncomfortable.
“So, Phastos,” Druig said, grabbing a pear from the table beside him. “Make anything interesting lately?” he asked casually, not revealing his true intention just yet.
“What do you mean?” Phastos asked, casting a glance in Druig direction before taking a sip from his drink.
“I don’t know, I was just wondering if you had made anything new. Like trinkets or something.” Druig said, letting his gaze fall on something in the distance.
“Trinkets?” Phastos asked incredulously.
“Yeah, you know. Like jewelry. Maybe bracelets,” he paused, turning to level his gaze at the taller man. “Or rings.”
“Jewelry? Why would I make –“ Phastos let his thought trail off. A cheeky grin took over his face. “Why, you have someone in mind?”
Druig shifted his weight from one foot to the other. “It was just a question.” Druig said, rolling his eyes.
“If you wanted a ring for Y/N, all you had to do was ask. I can make you something.” Phastos shrugged, taking another sip.
“Too late.” Druig said under his breath.
“Did you just say “too late”.” Phastos sat his drink on the table, turning to look at the man. “What does that mean?” Phastos paused, realization setting in.
“Never mind.” Druig said, pushing off from the wall he was propped against. Looking around the area, he let his eyes fall on your form. You were still wrapped up in your conversation with Makkari. It was nice to know she had kept you distracted like he had asked. Making his way across the floor, he came to a stop in front of you.
“Y/N, would you do me the honor of dancing with me?” He asked confidently, extending his hand.
“Sure that’s a good idea?” You asked, casting a look between him and Makkari. She only smiled back and nodded.
“Go, please. I’ve kept you long enough.” She signed, pushing you toward Druig. Laughing lightly, you took his hand as he pulled you onto the floor.
“Why would it be a bad idea for us to be seen together?” Druig asked once he had you in close proximity.
“That’s not what I’m saying, Dru. You know that.” You said, swaying along with the beat.
“I’m not sure I understand, can you explain it to me a little more?” he grinned, pulling you closer. “I thought you said we could tell people after the wedding. If I’m not mistaken,” he pulled your body flush with his, brushing his lips across your ear. “It’s after the wedding.” He whispered, sending a chill down your spine. A deep blush crept across your face, noticing how your fellow Eternals were all now watching. Pulling back, you let a flirty smile spread across your face.
“At least let this night end first. This is for Ikaris and Sersi, we have all the time in the world.” You let your lips brush softly across his, making his eyes go wide. Pulling back, you grinned up at him.
“I told you. Trouble.” He laughed lightly, a cocky grin on his face. You continue to dance, relishing in the moment between you two. You were sad when the song ended but you knew what came next.
“I have to go.” You said, parting ways from the man in front of you.
“Leaving so soon?” He mused, pulling a giggle from your lips.
“I’m not going far, I promise.” You pressed a quick kiss to his cheek. Sersi approached you from behind, tapping you on the shoulder.
“I’m sorry to interrupt but it’s time.” She said, passing a knowing look between you and Druig. You smiled back and nodded. You glanced back at Druig, mouthing a quick “sorry” in his direction. He only grinned, shaking his head. You followed Sersi into the middle of the room where she took her spot beside Ikaris. A semi-circle of people had come to enclose you, all the wedding goers watching with rapt attention.
“We want to thank you all for coming to our celebration. It means the world to have you all here.” Ikaris said, motioning to the crowd.
“As promised, Y/N has agreed to sing a song for us as to commemorate the night.” Sersi said, smiling in your direction.
“Thanks, Sersi.” You said, smiling back at your friend. “Thank you all for being here. Seeing these two together, finally, after all this time brings nothing but joy to my heart. As a gift to you, I give you this song. As requested, it is a song of love. Of full hearts and togetherness, for all of eternity.” Ikaris and Sersi moved to the edge of the group, giving you the floor.
Feeling the familiar glow of power, you let it surge through you. Your body radiated glowing energy, causing some of the by-standers eyes to go wide. Slowly humming, you began to let the melody take form. Swaying your body back and forth, you let yourself get lost in the music as it flowed from within. The sweet serenade moved across the floor, landing softly on the intended targets. The song spoke of tenderness in love, one that bound souls and would span lifetimes. Druig watched in awe at your glowing form, letting himself get lost in the ideas he had played over and over in his head. Sleepy mornings, late night talks. Long walks just to enjoy each other's company. Comfortable silences and raging fights that would end with you in his arms, both of you apologizing for whatever stupid thing that had caused it. This was what he wanted. A forever with you. The song came to an end as he drifted back to reality. He slowly moved his hand to land on his pocket where he had placed the small box earlier in the day. It was now or never.
Letting your power come back to you, you slowly opened your eyes as the song ended. You looked from Ikaris to Sersi, both in a soft embrace as they listened. You smiled at your friends, so happy to see them together. When she was sure it was finished, Sersi rushed to pull you into a hug.
“That was so beautiful, Y/N. Really, you didn’t have to do all of that for us.” She said, soft tears trickling down her cheeks.
“Hey, you ask and you shall receive.” You said, laughing lightly. She hugged you again, thanking you once more.
“Thanks, y/n/n. I think it was perfect.” Ikaris said, bringing you in for a quick hug as well.
“Thank you all for coming to this marvelous union.” Ajak said, stepping from the throng of people and into the middle of the room.
“Our beautiful Y/N has brought a wonderful end to this day.” Ajak turned to you, grabbing your hand.
The people of the village slowly began to trickle back to their homes, Sersi and Ikaris behind them. The rest of the team began to gather their things and make their way back to the Domo as well. You smiled to yourself, beginning to make your way in the same direction when a hand came to your wrist.
“Y/N,” Druig said, closing the distance between you. You could feel his body heat radiating into you. “Would you mind taking a walk with me? I want to show you something.”
