Matteo - Druck S3

So I’m not at a point where the Druck Experience Bot has started on his season yet (yaaaaay Saturday!!  I can’t wait!) but I couldn’t let today go by without saying something about this anniversary.  I remember being so wary of this whole thing.  I’d tried other remakes and didn’t vibe with any of them (including Druck - S1 had felt too similar when I first met it) and I only tried this season because of the rumours about David.  But when I saw this shot used with the discordant note in the music in the way it was I started to relax.  I felt like I could like this kid.  His vibe was different from Isak’s and I liked that he was clearly a different person.  I didn’t properly fall head over heels for this show until episode 3, but even this early in the season I felt like I could,  And look at me now: still obsessed 4 years later!

Happy 4th anniversary, Druck s3 fandom.  It was a great time and I miss it but at least we can revisit this beautifully imperfect season again and again whenever we want.

JANUARY: my most popular post this month was this kieutou gifset which honestly, they deserve it, i loved this clip sm 💞 but my favourite one (and the one i need to shout out skjdskf) is this set i made of skam nl season 1, which... holy shit that took me so long skdjkd i almost quit like 3 times while doing it <3 also special mention to this post which was my first fic ... ever?? so that was cool :D

FEBRUARY: in february i started to rlly get into doctor who so i made this rose tyler gifset which blew up like. Very quickly lmao, so that is my most popular post this month. and this month druck season 6 also ended, and i wanted to make something for that bc i really really loved it, so i made this set :) and honestly it's still one of my faves ive made today! i love fatou sm 🥺💞

MARCH: i finaly started to find some different fandoms to gif for other than skam: this month i made a lotr gifset! which did pretty well for the amount of effort i put into it aldjskd and i do love it but this month i made another super long & complicated gifset for skam nl season 2 akdjskd you'd think i'd learn from the first time... but i love how it turned out so that is a win at least!

APRIL: my birthday month! 🎈 funnily enough i did not make a post for my own birthday but i made my favourite this month for someone else's birthday which... was posted on my own birthday skdjskd dodie is my fav musician and her bday is one day before mine! my most popular post this month (and ever actually!!) was this parallel between doctor who and much ado about nothing - david tennant & catherine tate are such a great duo skdjsj

MAY: alt er love week time!! this was such a fun week and it gave me both my most popular and my favourite post: this elu set was most popular (and also very ugly in my opinion oops skdhsjd) and this druck season 5 one was my favourite!! i really like the colouring 💞

JUNE: this month i made very little content skdjksd but i think even if i'd made more, this skamverse pride month set would still be my favourite. it's also the most popular post this month! which it totally deserves 🌈

JULY: man, u can see that it's summer skdjsd in july i also made v little content, i only had one post this month lmaooo this month i watched the doctor who 50th anniversary special which i loved and i loved clara a lot, so i made this gifset! i do still like it a lot 🥺

AUGUST: this month's posts are both non-skamverse! who am i! lmaoo but for real, i think this month i really got into giffing other fandoms which i am so glad about bc it just opened a lot of doors for me :) so august's most popular post was this twelve/river set (theyre the superior doctor/river pairing change my mind😌) and my favourite was this malina + bookquotes set ⭐

SEPTEMBER: school time again which meant less time for gifsets, but it also meant alt er back to school week!! both posts are from that week: this one of our favourite dumbass lucas lallemant was most popular, and my favourite was this one of liv and isa, which was my first time working with overlays (and it looked rlly well if i may say so myself hehe) ❣

OCTOBER: in october i, again, didn't have time for a lot of gifsets, so this time it's just one: my most popular and my favourite post was the isi inci main character moment walk! this one kinda blew up which i love bc xe deserves it 💜

NOVEMBER: only one post again lmao in november i took some time off bc school was absolutely shit, but i still found some time to gif luckily! and i am v happy about that because honestly, the eva mohn gifset i made this month... might be my own fav ever i love it so so muchhh !!

DECEMBER: this month i did a lot more!! my most popular gifset was a hit with the wlws as far as i know - yaz in her 1900s outfit from doctor who flux... it was terrible to colour but so worth it skfjskdh 💞 my favourite post was this isa keijser set with orla gartland lyrics, two of my fav things and i think it looks rlly good!! plus a special mention to my very first malina fic, u love to see it 😌❣

I'm going to attach something sappy and personal here so bear with me. Today is one of the best season 3 anniversaries. Here is my tribute to my favourite moment for David and as a viewer. A clip that made me feel more seen and valued than most things in my real life and certainly in the television I've consumed. I never expected that Druck would give David an opportunity to safely speak his truth in an authentic and candid conversation. It happens very seldom for the few trans characters on screen. Watching it I was so moved by his story and how it parallels my own. That he spoke about his experiences and his feelings as a trans man then received validation and love is an incredibly healing moment. That he discussed his body (a source of stress for some of us) and how he desires to shape it was affirming. His smile at hearing Matteo's words of love makes my heart full as an inland sea. He doesn't need anyone to make him a whole worthy man--- he unarguably is that on his own--- but it's beautiful and necessary that he have that support and acceptance. He deserves it. All trans people deserve it. So I tried to capture that flash of joy and all the feelings it gives me still. One year later or ten, I'll never forget it.

What do you appreciate about Matteo?

unlike many others in this fandom it actually took me some time to really fall in love with matteo, i wasn’t his biggest fan from the moment he said “nicotine” in season 1 episode 1 clip 1. maybe because at that time I was still pretty hung up on isak as one of my favourite characters in the skam universe - which he still is btw - but at first I didn’t vibe with matteo’s stoner vibe as much. but the further I got to know him the more I came to love his soft spoken nature and his love for his friends, and by the time his season was about to start I was absolutely head over heels and I was so excited to follow him for 10 weeks

I appreciate so much about him. one of the things I appreciate the most is the representation of a shy introvert. you have no idea how hard it is to find a proper shy introverted main character in media. most shows often confuse introverted with awkward loner, but introverts can be social and charming and talkative if they are around the right people and in the right mood. and druck got that perfectly right with matteo, he is a very quiet talker, he often lets others - especially Jonas - talk for him in big social settings, he gains energy from being alone, yet - in his own words - he hates being alone meaning he is naturally a social person. I personally can relate a lot to that, I’m also a really social introvert, I get emotionally and physically drained from being in groups but I hate being alone for too long

another thing I love about matteo is how much love he has to give, he is so kind and welcoming. he must be one of the kindest characters in the skam universe, and not in the in-your-face goodie two-shoes way other characters are (who then call their love interest slurs but are still considered such kind characters…..), he is a little shit, we all know that, but an absolutely lovable one. he never wants to hurt anyone else’s feelings and when he does he regrets it afterwards and feels bad about it forever. most notably when he snaked on hanna in season 1, one whole year later he still felt bad about it, he missed having hanna as a friend but completely understood that she was still mad and he visibly felt awful, he apologized for it again and again, and I am glad that they were able to resolve their fight and become closer than ever

one thing I feel like a lot of people miss is how unbelievably funny matteo actually is. many things sadly get lost in translation because a lot of his humor is in how he says things rather than what he says, he has funny voices and impressions, he is rather sarcastic and quick-witted but in his very own quiet way. we all know and love the infamous “shhh your sister” but there are countless more examples of his humour. his jokes also often are very direct and dry, typical german humour, he is blunt and doesn’t sugar-coat the truth which often ends up being funny as hell

matteo can be very determined when he wants to be, if he puts his mind to something he will get it. in season 3 that “thing” was david obviously. I love how falling in love with david really woke up matteo from his passive life, he started really taking charge of his own life. and I loved watching the development from a quiet slacking stoner to a still quiet but now more present participant in his life

matteo is an incredibly layered character, there is so much more to him than what you think at first glance. of course michi’s portrayal adds another level of depth to him, the way he has managed to bring matteo to life is unbelievable and I am so thankful we got such a talented young actor to play matteo

this was the perfect way to kick off matteo appreciation week, I think I’ve put more effort into this than most of my essays for school. anyway, happy one year anniversary of matteo’s season!

What is Deb?

ah anon, DEB was made by an amazing bunch of people. It's the 'Druck Experience Bot' on Telegram and as suggested by the name it allows you to work through Druck (at least some of the seasons, mostly of the og gen I think) and it brings in all the social media stuff as well as letting you know when to click on a clip. It has links to all the original stuff so you can experience it all in one place. I'm specifically starting 'real time mode' for my anniversary rewatch which means the bot will send a message in 'real time' whenever a clip or post etc would have happened in the show. It starts you off on the closest Saturday (I think? I know it does for Matteo's season) to whenever you ask it to start. I'm starting it as close as I can to March 9 to be as close as I can to the time it happened in the show, which does involve starting a week early because it includes the week of social media between seasons 2 and 3.

Tbh I don't think I explained it that well, but it's an incredible resource that lets you have access to everything that you may have difficulty finding on your own. And I love real time mode for its ability to recreate that immersive feeling of actually watching and waiting for things to happen :D In short, use DEB if you want to experience Druck again with all the trappings.

My Anniversary

I have a bleeding heart right now.

It was one year ago that I accidentally found an episode of Druck on YouTube. I can’t even remember how I got there.

I ended up binge watching the first season and the first episodes of the second. I remember being confused because of clips and episodes and wondering why there was no other episode to find... I found out that the season was just airing, learned about the concept and joined from that day the clips and the social media.

I would not have believed how much I could be caught by a series. I was blown away. And still am.

I learned that there is an OG which I watched more or less at the same time.

And I knew that I had to be very careful with myself and avoided to watch the other remakes. I wouldn’t have been able to stand all that excitement.

I have even been at the Druck fan event in Berlin!

I couldn’t resist and watched Wtfock season 3 and it caught me again in such an intense way. I am spending hours and days on checking tumblr and reading all the fanfics on ao3. I am watching Skam espana 3 and Skam France 5 now...

It really made something with me.

And here I am now.

Not having a single friend in real life who is into Skam I am posting this here to celebrate this anniversary!
