… and so it continues.
The way that Williams Racing has nearly completely lost the lovable underdog reputation they have carefully cultivated over the last few seasons in record time needs to be studied.

If I was Logan I would have tweaked out in an interview by now. But now he doesn't have to deal with James Vowels's antics so he's kinda free. Harsh to see someone's dreams get crushed though

Excerpts: [First stints] The opening stint saw graining and high degradation for all runners and lap times rose sharply from around Lap 10 onwards. On Lap 14 [Norris] was called to box for new hard tyres. He then emerged behind Ocon – and Ferrari saw a small opportunity to cover him, and so boxed Leclerc the next lap. Unfortunately for Leclerc, it didn’t work out for him and he was undercut by Norris. Leclerc’s complaints on the radio at stopping to emerge behind the McLaren were met with reassurance that the race was most likely a two-stop, and it was the correct point to box. Piastri then covered both one lap later. In [Sainz’s] opening stint, he was too far behind Norris to attempt an undercut and Ferrari were still considering the one-stop possibility. Therefore Sainz pushed to extend as he thought it was too early to stop. Later, he reported that the graining was improving and lap times may recover. This was important information for Ferrari. Sainz was then called to pit before being undercut by Hamilton so the lap time improvement was crucially not seen by the other teams. [Second stints] As graining emerged on the hard tyre for all three leaders, [they had to decide] when to stop for the final set of hards. Piastri was asked if he thought a one-stop might be possible, but said no. [On Lap 32,] Leclerc is given the ‘box to overtake’ call on Norris as Ferrari looked to attempt an undercut. But Norris then pitted, prompting Leclerc to stay out. He was then told they will extend the stint to build a tyre delta. In the second stint running in largely free air, Sainz pushed Ferrari discussion on the one-stop strategy possibility. The pit wall and Sainz discussed whether they should cover Hamilton’s second pit stop or remain on the one-stop option – with Sainz favouring the latter after reporting that his tyres were still good. At this point the information is given to Leclerc that Sainz is targeting a one-stop strategy. Leclerc agrees that it is the best opportunity to win and immediately begins work on the tyre saving required to pull it off. [McLaren third stints vs Ferrari staying out] [Having boxed with 15 laps remaining,] Piastri needed to average 1.5 seconds per lap quicker [than his pre-stop pace] to make the pit stop beneficial. His first lap after the pit stop was indeed 1.5 seconds faster than before. However, he had five back-markers to overtake as well as Sainz. The back-markers cost variable amounts of lap time and Sainz then cost Piastri around two seconds of race time – which is crucial when considering Piastri only finished 2.6 seconds behind Leclerc at the flag. So although Leclerc then took the plaudits and the glory on the Monza podium, he couldn’t have pulled off such a famous victory without the help of his Ferrari team mate.

The race win is one thing.
You lose some, you win some.
My biggest concern is the non proportional hate Max will now get. Silverstone is about to be so bad 🥺

Charles to sky Italy:
“The situation wasn’t hard to read, the track was dry. I said it when I exited the box. I don’t know why but we staid out on inters when the track was dry and switched to slicks when it started raining. We made everything harder for ourselves when it should have been an easy session. We should have pitted for slicks immediately after the outlap”
“So this time you don’t agree with the team?”
“No I don’t”

i feel kind of bad for checo in the fact that he was very much the 2nd driver and r*dbull clearly prioritized mv’s feedback over his when they were making the car (which makes sense, but it kind of made it so that checo was always going to have a disadvantage). and i just feel like he got ridiculed in such a vicious way by fans when the white favs who did badly did not get nearly the same amount of criticism. i feel relieved that he’s not a part of that team anymore because everything about it left a very bad taste in my mouth

So I’ve just blocked the insane person who tried to justify Perez’s actions on my post by literally saying “he was angry” but idiots aside I’m genuinely concerned that there’s a level of “my baby can do no wrong” that makes someone willing to justify medical endangerment as “my baby was angy and he can express his angy however he wants even if it’s pushing someone’s head after he made impact with a wall at 300km/h”

I’m just super proud of both of my drivers today
Oscar was by far the fastest driver for most of that race. He was absolutely on track to catch Lando (though I completely understand Mclarens decision to have them hold positions while moving through the back markers with the condition the track was in) I honestly think he drove such a good race. I mean- he forced a mistake out of Verstappen (track conditions weren’t great and Max’s tires were gone- but still. Not everyone can do that) Yes, he went off track. But even though he’d effectively beached his car he didn’t give up, got going, UNLAPPED HIMSELF and made it back into the points and also had a BRILLIANT overtake on Hamilton. He was unlucky today. But he showed so much determination today I’m nothing but proud.
Lando also drove really well. He managed 5!!! starts/restarts beautifully (start bottler who💅🏼). He managed his pace and tires well even when he was continually under pressure from either Oscar or Max when he was able to catch up with the safety car. He stayed calm and FINALLY wasn’t fucked over from strategy today. Yes, he made some mistakes- show me someone who didn’t make a mistake in that race? (actually I don’t think Albon made a mistake lol) He just continues to improve year after year. He is so confident in his abilities this year and I’m so happy to see it.
Can’t wait to see my boys kick some ass this year. So ready for China. Wonder if we’ll get a dry race lol

On your point about going off stream, I was actually wondering this too bc we know that’s what max did at first after Brazil, the days they gamed before Lando joined the streams. And max has never hesitated to go offline for him so it’s not like Lando HAD to be on stream if they wanted to game. So my personal guess is that Lando wanted to join and max was trying to create an actively positive atmosphere rather than promoting the whole hiding away/isolating thing or risk Lando perceiving it like they’re “coddling” him or whatever. And for what it’s worth, chat was surprisingly very receptive to it
Anon, you're almost certainly right. Sometimes there's no winning with whatever Lando has going on in his head, and Max just has to roll with it in the least harmful/most normal way he can.

Read so much F1 discourse my head hurts. Everybody should be nicer since we truly don't nor will we ever know what goes on behind closed doors.
