Diego was the first of The Umbrella Academy kids to learn to drive.
(Allison was actually the first to do so legally and get a licence, but who's counting?)
As soon as he learnt, he became very popular with the rest of his siblings who frequently asked if he was heading out anywhere or whether they could come along and swing by somewhere that was totally 'on the way' to where he was going.

“i know the actors strike is so inconvenient and difficult and sad for you but please support it” I’ve lived through complete public transportation strikes and most of the population supported them because we knew that if we wanted better public transportation those workers were gonna be the ones to do it even if the entire city is chaos today, y’all can watch an old movie

Congratulations to predatory rideshare apps for literally convincing younger people that the better alternative that has existed in many cities for well over a century, are often subsidised by said cities, and are actual regulated entities that have to provide drivers with legitimate contracts and wages... Don't exist? Or never existed at all?
If you live in a city of any reasonable size, it probably has a taxi service. They probably even have an app or website if you don't want to talk on the phone. If you live somewhere smaller, you may well still have a taxi service, you just might have to book trips in advance if there's only a handful of cars. You probably do not have to pay the unpredictable and highly manipulated rates of a got dam Uber.

Started veiling again yesterday for Lent, and oh my gosh I missed it so much, I'm so glad I chose to veil again for a Lenten practice this year 🩷
I'd be even happier if it fucking stayed in place where I pinned it, though.
. . . listen, I gave up ice cream for my fast this year (a popular go-to dessert in my house that happens to be my favorite indulgence) and meat in Friday's and Holy days, not swearing.

i don't know if it's on purpose but my instacart drivers sometimes give me an extra of an item i ordered without charging me for it and they are angels.

companies like doordash and uber and stuff are trying to have it both ways. on the one hand, they want to provide a uniform, expected experience.
on the other hand, they present themselves to the government as just a marketplace, connecting buyers and sellers of services, or rather, connecting customers and businesses. essentially, they have the legal fiction that they are more like etsy than an actual delivery business
customers don't want to have to treat each individual driver as a separate business with their own policies. but that is the legal claim that these companies are making, because it gives them favorable legal conditions vis-a-vis their workers (not having to pay minimum wage or provide benefits and also it's illegal for their workers to unionize).

scrolling back through my liveblogging of the day of the nyc concert because of recent notifications and its such a fun mixed bag of emotions to relive it all again
#helloooooo pineapple in my notes i do not mind the likes and reblogs <3#but it was such a crazy day that day of the show. so much happened#i also didn't remember that the day before the concert is when my bus got messed up and was taking me back to ny#and i had to get a car service home and everything#and then there was the concert the next day!#and what i had done was worked monday. took all of tuesday off for the concert. got like maybe 4 hour of sleep if that#and then went back to work wednesday. stupid#it worked out fine lol but i dont think id do it that way again idk#other remembrances of the day:#my biggest regret is getting all worked up abt my stupid letter that never got to them anyway like jeez. obviously i still enjoyed the show#but still. OH and i missed out on getting the latte pinback buttons#not the biggest deal but i did want those. i was just awkwardly standing around before the nyc show#and the merch line was always super long anyway#what else. oh i wish i could have met those of you that were there. but next time! im cooler now so next time.#the show itself was crazyyyy. again so fun and surreal#one of the tags on my original review was something along the lines of me having not been this excited since i was a kid#and it was really like that. like it really was that absolute pure overjoyed excitement that i haven't felt for a long time#i felt the same at the hollywood bowl. just having so much fun (missing it now lol 🥲)#cant remember if i mentioned this before but when i was standing outside the stage door i saw both spike lee and adam driver leave backstage#adam driver is Tall. i didnt even recognize him at first fdhgkgkg#anyway. some thoughts almost a year later wow!
