The Lions Gate Bridge is closed northbound out of downtown Vancouver after too many vehicles got stuck on the snowy Stanley Park Causeway.
Between six and 10 centimetres of snow fell on Metro Vancouver overnight, and the roads have been a slippery, slushy mess as a result.
DriveBC announced just before 10 a.m. Tuesday that the northbound lanes of the Lions Gate were closed at Denman Street due to the number of stalled vehicles.
“Expect major delays due to congestion; use an alternate route,” DriveBC said on Twitter.
Vancouver is set to get about another five centimetres of snow Tuesday in a late-season snow dump.
“Certainly, winter is not over,” Environment and Climate Change Canada meteorologist Trevor Smith told the Daily Hive. “I think the chances of our wintry weather continuing fairly late into the season now are a bit more likely.”

Flooding and mudslides had closed most routes between the coast and BC Interior over the past 24 hours, but the back route through Whistler on Hwy 99 remained open this morning.
That changed shortly after 11 am, when DriveBC reported that a mudslide 42 kilometres south of Lillooet had shut down Hwy 99 as well.
The only way to drive between the coast and the rest of Canada at this time is through the United States.
However, Washington is also seeing highway closures due to the inclement weather and residents would need a COVID-19 test to re-enter Canada.
