yeah exactly. its like if the game started before you even left the lobby. those 2-3 hours are my loading screen it shouldnt take up in-game time. the game shouldnt go before ive pressed play (gotten out of bed)
You should be able to rot in bed for 2, maybe 3 hours after waking up before it starts affecting what time it is. If I wake up at 8:30 and lie in bed for 2hr it should still be 8:30 when I get up

Xiangliu
Image © deviantArt user YunaXD, accessed at her gallery here
[Sponsored by @coldbloodassassin. The xiangliu appears in Guideways through Mountains and Seas as an individual, Xiangliu, who is the minister of the malevolent water god Gonggong. I did consider making it a native or even extraplanar outsider because of that, but ended up going with aberration to stress its connection to nagas. Not that nagas are very aberrant as far as aberrations go...]
Xiangliu CR 14 NE Aberration This creature is an oversized serpent with nine heads and slime coating its scales. Its heads are disturbingly humanoid, but still bear fangs and forked tongues.
Xianglius are sadistic water serpents that delight in spreading disease and stagnant water. They are native to swampy lands, and fight violently against any attempt to drain such swamps or make them suitable for cultivation. Nearby fields are likely to be subject to their attacks, including flooded crops, summoned clouds of malarial mosquitoes and fouling wells and springs. Xianglius sometimes find allegiances with evil druids, daemons of pestilence and famine, or even gods of water who are hostile to civilization.
A xiangliu rarely hesitates to fight. Their bites are not fully venomous, but carry a foul slime that renders creatures bitten weak and queasy. They can spit jets of water with lethal force, and often split their attacks, biting creatures up close while barraging enemies that are more distant. Fighting a xiangliu is often quite frustrating, as the monsters create moats of mud and water to slow anyone approaching on foot, and can manipulate water to isolate and capsize boats. Wise adventurers approach a xiangliu’s lair from the air.
Despite their nine heads, a xiangliu has only one personality; peevish, cruel and sadistic. They are notorious gluttons; one legend is that they have nine heads in order to eat nine different meals at the same time. A xiangliu grows to about twenty feet long. Their lifespans are measured in centuries.

Special Abilities Combined Arms (Ex) When using a full attack action, a xiangliu can divide its nine attacks up between bites and water jets. Improved Swamp Stride (Su) A xiangliu can move without penalty through natural or magically manipulated mud, water, or vegetation native to swamp environments. Insect Plague (Sp) When a xiangliu uses its insect plague spell-like ability, it summons mosquito swarms instead of wasp swarms. Mud Wave (Su) As a standard action, a xiangliu can create a burst of mud and water in a twenty foot radius centered on itself. All creatures in the area take 14d6 points of bludgeoning damage and are knocked prone. A DC 25 Reflex save halves the damage and negates the prone effect. The area affected by the mud wave becomes difficult terrain for the next minute. A xiangliu can use this ability three times per day, but must wait 1d4 rounds between uses. The save DC is Charisma based. Multiheaded Reflexes (Ex) A xiangliu gains Combat Reflexes as a bonus feat. It can make as many attacks of opportunity in a round as it has heads. Sickening Slime (Ex) A creature bitten by a xiangliu must succeed a DC 25 Fortitude save or be sickened for 1 round. Failing additional saves increases the duration of the sickened effect by 1 round per save failed. The save DC is Constitution based. Water Jet (Su) A xiangliu can spit water from one of its mouths as a standard action, and up to all nine as a full attack. Treat each water jet as a ranged attack from a projectile weapon with a range increment of 20 feet. Attacks with water jets do not provoke attacks of opportunity. A creature struck by a water jet takes 1d8 points of bludgeoning damage and is exposed to the xiangliu’s push attack.

Hey! So far I've not seen anyone make the connection yet, so I thought I'd drop a little bit of lore/character development for Shadowheart that no one else seems to have found yet. Or if they did, I haven't seen anyone mention it. Mild spoilers having to do with Auntie Ethel in Act 1 of BG3.
Just before you enter Ethel's home, on the left, is a well that you can drink from. It gives you +10 hit points and the condition refreshed. Recently, before I decided to fight Ethel this playthrough, I had everyone in my party drink from it for the extra HP. This included my Tav (a Lolth cleric), Wyll, Astarion, and Shadowheart.
Now, if you didn't already know this, those +10 hit points and the refreshed condition disappear when you engage in combat with Ethel and are replaced by another condition: nauseated. Everyone in my party received this condition except one person. Guess who? Here's a pic for reference.
As you can see, everyone in my party has the little nauseated icon except for Shadowheart. Ethel was dead at this point. The conditions don't wear off until you long rest, so I decided to loot her house before doing so. While I was doing just that, I found this book titled Mistress of the Night and Friends. In it, there's an explanation for why Shadowheart was not negatively affected by the well water.
The book describes a short story of a woman who had many friends, suitors, and a beloved mother who wished her daughter only happiness. But the mother passed away, and the woman wept, so much so that all of her previous friends and suitors and acquaintances left her. She then prayed for someone, anyone to ease the loneliness she felt. And who answered? None other but Shar, of course.
Shar convinced the woman that no one else loved the woman except for her, and that all she needed was faith in Shar. Shar then gave the woman a vial, and told her to take it to a man (likely a follower of Shar, also). She did so without question. The man tampered with the vial, instructed the woman to throw it down a well, and she did just so. The book then says that many people got sick and died, except for the woman devoted to Shar, who remained perfectly healthy.
I bet you can guess what well she threw the vial down!
The implication here is that because Shadowheart is such a devout follower of Shar, Shar allows her to keep the blessing of the well where everyone else in your party gets nauseated (sick). Kind of a neat little attention to detail that I wasn't expecting that early on in the game. Anyways, shout out to Larian for the small things in this game! I thought this was super interesting and unique. Not sure about how the hag has a connection to Shar's well, but with "Friends" in the title, I assume she would maybe have at least an amicable relationship with the dark goddess.

The Bad Sanses somehow ended up in the Backrooms. №11
next 12
prev 10
This is the translation of the another post from Russian to English. I understand English, but it is very difficult for me to write in English, so I asked chat GPT to help me. I have corrected some parts, but there still may be mistakes.
Okay, I realize I get a strange pleasure from drawing sleeping Sanses. Not the worst fetish ¯\_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯.
I like to think of Nightmer and Dream as the "Deity of Negative Emotions" and the "Deity of Positive Emotions." Why not?
For this part, I decided to create a MindMap and input all the information I hold in my head for each of the characters. Wow, turns out I've been forgetting so much about my boys all this time. For example, I constantly confused the sleeve where Killer's thread from Error is attached (it should be on the right sleeve, not the left). In addition, I've started to better understand the characters' personalities and my canon in which I make them live.
In this part, I decided to experiment with describing events from different perspectives (I left notes in the form of emojis). =)
Caution: there is a description of injuries involving Nightmer (🌙).
I often listen to playlists while working on parts, hope you enjoy this one :)
youtube
Having avoided a fight with people, the group continued on until they found a place where Error could safely exit his reboot. It turned out to be a break room for employees, complete with a water cooler. Someone had taken and carried away the water container, likely individuals from the nearby settlement. This was a good sign as it meant that people wouldn't be exploring this area anytime soon.
The office plants had stretched towards the lamps and withered. Otherwise, this room resembled a small, ransacked cafeteria: all the kitchen cabinets were open, appliances either broken or stolen, spices scattered on the floor (Horror shook his head disapprovingly). However, there were still tables, chairs, and a comfortable couch.
🌙 As the Destroyer's loading bar slowly crawled from 50% to 58%, Nightmare decided to try drinking Almond Water. There was a chance it could help with the issues he had discovered in his mind before. He took the closed tin can in his hands and opened it. A quiet splash was heard. The subtle almond scent, which now constantly surrounded his subordinates, hit his receptors. The thin metal felt cool in his hands. He didn't feel anything strange, and even the Check didn't report anything alarming.
But as the liquid poured into his mouth, he screamed from the unexpected pain. It was awful. As if boiling acid had been poured into an open wound. Like the pain from Dream's arrows. His mind clouded so much that he couldn't even spit out the liquid - it sizzled down his chin onto his chest. The shroud of negativity on him boiled in response to the damage and anger (despair), causing the outlines of his body to blur, as if wax on a candle. The shroud around his jaws dissolved and flowed to his feet in a black, smoking puddle. The bones of the former (deceased) Nightmare's skull were briefly exposed but quickly concealed by a new layer of darkness.
In a desperate attempt to prevent the liquid from burning him further, the Guardian transformed into a pool of negativity and recoiled to the side. The Almond Water can spilled onto the floor.
-15 HP
It didn't feel like "-15 HP". It felt like the damn breath of agonizing death. It was a good thing he hadn't swallowed it. He didn't want to imagine something with a sweet nutty scent searing his insides. "-15 HP" seemed like a joke to his huge health pool, but he didn't want to experience something like that again. The phantom flashes of pain in his mouth faded as the lost HP slowly regenerated. His subordinates looked at him in shock, and their horror aided in the regeneration.
It seemed like something in this place could easily kill him. He felt as if the dimension-killer hungrily licked its lips.
The most essential thing in this place could maim him. Perhaps the most common. The one that needed to be consumed to keep the mind clear. The item that was simply indispensable for the group. That which...
Nightmare pulled himself together.
He was the spirit (almost a god) of negative emotions. He would handle this annoying inconvenience.
⛔By the time Error woke up with the sound of Windows XP, Nightmare was sitting nearby as if nothing had happened. The others glanced cautiously in their direction, but for some reason, remained silent. (Are they hiding something?) The Destroyer looked slightly confused, as if he had fallen asleep at the beginning of the movie and woken up closer to the end. His last memory was parting ways with the Temmie shop. Nightmare, sitting next to him, calmly mentioned that they had encountered people. (Error didn't inquire about injuries, seeing a black puddle on the floor. Nightmare looked fine, as did the others, so nothing serious seemed to have happened).
Error hated his reboots. But sometimes they saved him from truly horrible (thoughts) things. For example, from injuries and wounds. But it was infuriating that a bunch of people had brought him to this point. As if Error couldn't kick meat sacks' asses anymore.
Usually after such emotional shocks, he would visit the "Disgusting #13" fridge and settle in to watch Undernovelle. But opening portals in this place was impossible. So...
Wait. The Destroyer turned his gaze to Horror. He unexpectedly remembered something. Something about what this guy carried in his inventory. Greasy Marshmallow. He recalled that the recommendations mentioned something about a chocolate flavor. If that was the case, it was worth trying his luck and preparing this thing. Especially since he saw blurry (no, he won't get his glasses) outlines of pepper shakers nearby. The Destroyer wasn't skilled in cooking food, so he menacingly moved towards Horror.
🦴 Dust was concerned about what had happened. At first, Nightmare drove people away, although he ordered them not to engage in combat and to survey the area. Then, for some reason, Error took a long time to come out of reboot. It was crystal clear that something serious had occurred, prompting Nightmare to change his plans so drastically. And Nightmare doesn't do that without a significant reason. But what happened to Error? Did they quarrel? Will Error leave now? Dust pulled up his hood, and anxiety crawled down his neck like a swarm of insects.
Then it turns out that water, which they all carry with them, can harm their boss. The water they MUST carry with them to stay sane. This could be a problem. Damn, it already is.
He clenched his hands in the pockets of his hoodie so tightly that he felt one of the ballpoint pens he had there snap. Dust took a deep breath and tried to calm down as Nightmare had taught him. The boss had taught him many techniques to reduce anxiety.
A white butterfly fluttered past his face. He constantly felt the tickle of moths following behind him. They were various butterflies and moths that flocked to him as they roamed Level 4. For some reason, he didn't feel the usual irritation from this. Dust assumed it was because of the Strange Amulet Horror had given him. This phenomenon began precisely when Dust equipped it. Just in case, he made a note in the margins of his notebook:
"I feel like because of the Strange Amulet, I've started to love insects. Almond Water is dangerous for Nightmare."
Dust began to understand why the notes in the notebook were disjointed. Recording troubling thoughts somehow freed him from them.
⚔️ Cross volunteered to scout the area so they could proceed safely. Horror wanted to go with him as usual, but Error pulled Horror aside to cook something. Before arriving in this place, they often did reconnaissance together with the big skeleton. They got along well, so the familiar sense of the imposing figure's presence behind Cross would reassure him. Especially after the recent events.
Yes, the "injury from water" and "Nightmare" seemed like a strange combination, but Nightmare controlled his emotions and, in Cross's view, might not be at risk of losing his mind. At least, that seemed logical. After all, fish don't drown in water, right?
"That's true, Crossy. But what about Almond Water?" joked Killer, who went with him instead of Horror. He twirled a knife in his hands, and his frozen smirk made one feel uneasy.
Cross didn't reply. He didn't particularly enjoy being around Killer. He always felt like the skeleton with a knife might attack out of boredom and made sure not to lose sight of him.
After a few rooms, they found a stairwell with torn wallpaper and a creaky staircase. It resembled the description of the passage to Level 5. They needed to return and inform the others of their discovery.
🔪 Killer was pleased. The boss's food poisoning was certainly dreadful, as was Error's figure hidden in mistakes, as was the agitated Dust, as... Well, much in this place was dreadful. Probably. Killer wasn't sure exactly. He struggled with identifying emotions. But he definitely enjoyed the whirlwind of events. He knew he felt a chill at the sight of pain on Nightmares face. He knew he felt inspired when Horror and Error started making marshmallows using the heating element that was still in the office cooler (The prepared Greasy Marshmallow resembled sweet thick cocoa with vanilla and cinnamon). He also knew for sure that he WOULDN'T use the Temmie Flake popper near Nightmare. (Perhaps he could use the Flowey Seed popper instead? It was worth exploring this question.) And he was definitely very curious to see what awaited them next.
The new level that he and Cross led the group to also pleased him in many ways: there were more items, more different textures and materials. It seemed he even saw a cat, but couldn't catch up with it. Much of Level 5 reminded him of the castle where they had all lived before. Soft chairs and sofas, subdued lighting, and eerie portraits.
Ah, almost like home.
🪓 The district was clean. Horror sensed faint human smells on the furniture, in the rooms, noticed inappropriate litter for the setting. Thanks to their stop at Temmie's, he knew that people visited this hotel quite often, even rented rooms. And this kept him on edge.
The people they encountered on Level 4 puzzled him. He managed to Check one discreetly as he pushed forward in the hustle. Their stat block had no parameters, including the HOPE indicator. It wasn't hidden or inaccessible. It simply wasn't there. The description was unusually brief "...".
Earlier, while they were still in the rest area on Level 4, Error asked (ordered) Horror to retrieve the Greasy Marshmallow from the inventory. Considering he could have just hacked the code and stolen the item, it was quite polite. Horror even dared to set a condition: if they cook, they cook for everyone. Error agreed. While they were cooking with the Destroyer, Horror shared his observations about people with him. Error shrugged irritably.
"What doesn't have a health bar is hard to kill. If what you're saying is true, it will be like fighting a ghost," he replied briefly.
It was good they didn't engage in battle. Horror hated fighting ghosts. They were exhausting. During it, one felt like giving up.
In the end, the group had to stop for the night. Nightmare stayed on guard. He had to forcibly restrain Killer from attempting something foolish, and Killer quickly fell asleep.
It had been a very long day.

water recipe (but it heals!)
hi there! since we're all boycotting pokemart, i feel like people should know how to make that water they put in the vending machines that heals your pokemon so they don't have to buy potions from there!
All you'll need for this recipe is some water, an amount of oran berries, and a berry juicer! the juicer is optional actually, if you really want you can just use your hands
You'll add the juice of your oran berries into the water depending on how much you want this water to heal! One oran berry heals about 10 hp, so to get the potency of a fresh water straight out of the vending machine, you'll need three
You can use a juicer, or you can just squeeze the berries, either way it does the job. make sure to mix the water and the juice until you can't really see the color of the juice anymore, that way you know it's incorporated in the mix
Unfortunately, this water isn't as convenient as potions because you need to actually drink it instead of just spraying it, but i hope this helps at least a few people!
#it also heals a little bit more if you add in a calm mint!#pokemon irl#rotomblr#pkmn irl#unreality#management takeover

What is the hunger/thrist handled in pathfinder 2e
It's not really a big aspect of the game since pathfinder focuses more on being epic fantasy instead of gritty dungeon crawler. In the initial kit you buy when you start the game there's already food for 2 weeks and water, so most people just ignore it. (There are also spells that create food/water and races that don't even need to eat - like leshys who are little plant guys that just need to stay under the sun for some time)
In dire circumstances, these are the rules:
Typically characters eat and drink enough to survive comfortably. When they can’t, they’re fatigued until they do. After a number of days without water equal to a creature’s Constitution modifier + 1, the creature takes 1d4 damage each hour that can’t be healed until it quenches its thirst. After the same amount of time without food, it takes 1 damage each day that can’t be healed until it eats.
Fatigued is a condition that gives you -1 to AC and saving throws. You also can't use exploration activities (like avoid being noticed while traveling, or scouting for enemies).
I will assume this question was because of the dungeon meshi posts. If this is the case I will talk a bit more about cooking stuff below. If this is not the case, you can stop here if you want.
There are rules to cook/eat but they focus on getting better stuff to eat and get in better shape than normal while exploring instead of simply avoiding hunger.
Campside meals
When you set up a camp for you and your group you get the opportunity to make some food for everyone instead of just eating your rations.
You can find the rules to set up a camp here:
When you make food you can make a basic meal or a special meal. In both cases you roll a check (either survival or cooking lore - cooking lore always has a lower DC)
No matter the choice, in a failure you simply make something edible, but not special and everybody eat as normal.
Basic meal
On a success everyone gets a bonus to their saving throws until you finish camping (which can help if a monster attacks the group).
On a critical success (pass the DC by 10+) characters also recover double the hp they would normally get by sleeping on top of the save
On a critical failure (fail by 10+) everyone gets a tummy ache and are sickened 1 (-1 to everything and can't voluntarily ingest things, like potions) until they pass the day.
Special Meal
There's a lot of special meals and they go from fish on a stick (that makes you able to be awake for more time without becoming fatigued) to black linnorm stew that grants a big permanent bonus against poisons and curses and, if cooked really well, the next time you are damaged you get fast healing 10 (automatically recover 10 hp every turn) for 1 minute.
Every special meal consumes basic ingredients and higher level meals often require special ingredients (like the meat of a black linnorm to make the black linnorm stew). You also need to know the recipe of that special meal, but if you don't know the recipe you can experiment with the ingredients until you manage to learn it by yourself (instead of needing to find someone who knows the recipe)
[edit] Ah, I forgot, you can also select one of the special meals as your "favorite meal". When you eat your favorite meal you get an extra bonus on top of the normal ones

Pathfinder 2E to 1E Conversion: Sweet Hag
This creature was relatively easy for me to convert, mechanically speaking. But as for its flavour text (no pun intended, of course), it was a whole other matter. The Sweet Hag involves a lot of potentially triggering material, for which I have given warnings below. I hope this new conversion doesn't become too shocking.
And as always, enjoy, and if you want, please send me some feedback and constructive criticism! ^^

SPECIAL ABILITIES
Betraying Touch (Su) By touching a creature that currently does not see her as a threat, a sweet hag can subject that creature to her soporific touch ability, imposing a -4 circumstance penalty to the victim's saving throw. The creature does not become aware that the hag has used this ability on them unless they succeed at a Sense Motive check opposed by the hag's Bluff check.
Child-Scent (Ex) A sweet hag has the scent ability, but only with respect to humanoid children.
Poisoned Candy (Su) The sweet hag can cast one of the following spell-like abilities on a piece of food that she has prepared, typically a sweet treat: charm person, hideous laughter, reduce person or sleep. This does not count against the number of times per day the spell-like ability can be used. The first creature that eats the food is affected by the spell, and takes a –4 circumstance penalty to their saving throw against that effect. A sweet hag may only use this ability on food that she has prepared herself - food created via the create food and water spell-like ability may not be altered in this way.
Soporific Touch (Su) A creature that takes damage from a sweet hag's slam attack also suffers 1d4 point of Strength damage (Fortitude DC 17 negates). A victim reduced to 0 Strength falls into a deep slumber, dreaming of eating delicious sweets, until it has regained at least 1 point of Strength. This is a sleep effect. The save DC is Charisma based.
A sweet hag is a vile predator of children that hides behind a cheerful and caring front to lure her victims to an horrific fate. Using their magic to alter their appearence to that of harmless old ladies or matronly bakers, they entice children with the promise of delicious sweets, with a distinct preference for the poor, the homeless, the abused and, in general, all those children who are unlikely to be missed. A sweet hag offers its prospective victims not just delicious food, but also a facade of kindness and generosity. However, as soon as her victim has come to trust her, the sweet hag either enslaves them or puts them to sleep in order to be butchered and eaten. Some sweet hags have been known to put their young prisoners into cages and force-feed them to fatten them up, all in order to enjoy a tastier meal later.
All sweet hags are excellent cooks - they have to be, in order for their trap to work. They have the unique ability to mix some harmful spells into the food they prepare, in order to incapacitate their prey or anyone that might come to investigate on her. While they don't have much in terms of fighting skills, their touch can sap strength from their victims, until they fall into a blissful sleep populated with dreams of delicious food. A sweet hag's touch is even more dangerous to those who are unaware of her true colors, putting them to sleep with most of them not realizing why they are getting weaker by the minute. In any event, sweet hags are typically cowards, and will turn invisible and flee as soon as they suspect they're facing actual danger.
Sweet hags usually dwell in houses not too far away from cities and villages, in the ideal position to draw children in, but still far enough not to raise suspicion. While they are omnivorous, they particularly relish the taste of children, and consider gnomes to be a real delicacy. Sweet hags despise elves, which probably has to do with elves not being affected by their sleep-inducing magics. While a sweet hag will murder an elf in order to keep her cover or out of spite, she never eats one unless it is severely famished.
Sweet hags rarely join covens, but when they do, the coven adds grove of respite and neutralize poison to their spell list.

Thank you for the ask! :D
10. Favorite piece of clothing to draw
Ok I was totally unsure of this which made me go thru a ton of my recent/old/whatever art to try to figure out what I tend to draw a lot of, and omg this was so fun. After some careful analysis I have come to the conclusion that I really enjoy drawing complicated fancy dresses and cool jackets... And yes I'm including examples
I forgot I did a bunch of Yule Ball sketches for Pansy, Luna, Ginny, and Hermione, and wow I had fun with these (especially Pansy's, they're just. Insane). Maybe I'll finish/color them all someday (and also redo the Luna one cuz I don't love it)
And then from non-HP stuff, here are some dresses + my cool jacket obsession. I feel like a lot of my art/character design has been influenced by superheroes and Transformers (which I was obsessed with as a kid... HP not so much!), and I can really see it here. Plus my love of high fashion and drag race lol. Also a lot of these are Pokemon-related
15. *Where* do you draw (don't drop your ip address this just means do you doodle at a park or smth)
When I started this account I was in college, and I was usually drawing in my dorm or more often in various spots around campus. My fav spot was these picnic tables outside of the art museum... I drew my first Snapetober there lol on a beautiful fall day in the warm sun. But now that I've graduated and live with my parents I just draw at my big ol desk in my nasty room
17. Do you eat/drink when drawing? if so, what
I am an avid tea and coffee drinker so I do enjoy a caffeinated beverage with my drawing time. I don't think there's any real pattern with what I eat or drink while drawing tho, it's the same stuff I'd eat or drink if I was doing anything else. Tea or coffee or water + snack if hungry
As per usual I feel like this was way too detailed and I wrote too much but um I hope it's fun? Thanks again for the ask <3

Also known as horned demons or slaver demons, kalavakus are most recognizable by the massive, curved horns on their heads, and most infamous for their ability to steal souls to the Abyss. More powerful demons will press them into service gathering souls for that demon's plans, but independent kalavakus exist and will continually gather souls to try and increase their personal power. Souls captured by the kalavakus are bound to the Abyss and forced to toil in the demon's interest, though they may also be devoured or traded with other demons as the kalavakus chooses. This eternal binding into the afterlife is an abomination in the eyes of nearly every god, and they will occasionally sponsor raids into the Abyss to try and free trapped souls to better return to the gods' courts in the Overworld.
Omox demons are often called slime or filth demons, as they appear to be a wave of living filth. They pollute and foul water sources just by existing within them, and love to spread their disgusting corruption to drinking supplies to sicken and poison entire towns. They will also occasionally be found guarding sources of water sacred to demons (which invariably are disgusting or horrific in some capacity even without the omox present), though as with all demons they can get quite bored with such tasks and eagerly go after the slightest distraction.
Inspired by the Pathfinder 1e Bestiary 2. This post came out a week ago on my Patreon. If you want to get access to all my monster conversions early, as well as access to my premade adventures and other material I’m working on, consider backing me there!

how easy are jellyfish to kill don't ask why im asking
Oh! I'm not sure why you would ever want to see a jelly die but I can give you a general rating scale to tell you exactly how to not treat a jellyfish if you want it to live ^-^.
First I'll make a kill rating scale. 0 for would die upon birth and 10 for like, a cockroach idk.
As a whole, jellyfish have a kill rating of like. 4/10. Some of the bulkier ones can take a hit, but they're like 95% (97% in some cases) water so like. You could drink them to death if you wanted to.
On the lower end of the jellyfish kill spectrum (2/10), we have the ctenophores. That's right. Comb jellyfish.
They're weaksauce and hold VERY poorly in preservation conditions (some swear by a 5% formalin solution but realistically they're gonna fall apart haha)
Some, like the beautiful Venus girdle, could shatter upon contact with a particularly strong current
Which is a shame because I hate when pretty strips die :(
Anyways, ctenophores are really only dangerous to zooplankton so they're just pretty harmless all around.
Next is pretty much every jelly, which I'll be nice and give a rating of 4/10. Tbh most jellyfish can take minor injuries like champs. Lose half of your bell? Just regenerate it on like, a day or two idk.
They can shrug off a lot of bad and even life-threatening conditions if given the proper space to heal. But for pretty much every species, you can't count on life cycle reversal and ultra regeneration to save your life most of the time. (this is why the turritposis genus and hydra genus is a SHAM. Please for the love of god don't think they're indestructible or immortal they're just silly guys)
basically, just be really rough with them and 8 out of 10 times they'll die.
In the slightly harder to kill category (so like, 4.5-5.0/10) we have some of the heavy class jellyfish, like the Lion's Mane and Echizen Kurage (Nomura's Jellyfish)
These guys are just... big. So naturally they have more HP, and can take more hits from enemies.
Nature loves them, fisherman hate them. It's our big class jellyfish :))
For general guidelines on how to not treat a jellyfish, I'll just give you a list on what scientists have done to induce reverse ontogeny and stuff :/
Cut in half
Cut into multiple pieces
Introduce to heavy metals. Not the music
Magnesium chloride my best friend <3
Starve
Choke
Feed to a bigger jellyfish
Note: If your species is known to reverse their life cycle, theres a chance they might come back anyways.
And definitely, DEFINITELY do not bring out the jellyfish Shredder to efficiently dispose of thousands of jellyfish in minutes.
Also, back in the early 2010s (I think? I saw this on a documentary like YEARS before my first jellyfixation), japan has to resort to these in order to prevent the Echizen Kurage done totally collapsing ocean ecosystem (or harming fishing industries. Either or ig) and while it did temporarily solve the problem that year, there's just one thing that jellies are good at.
Reproducing. (I forgot but there's a word for really efficient breeders. It might've been on Snake Discovery's cricket tour video)
Anyways, they released a ton of eggs upon being shredded which p much guarantees that the next year will be even worse. idk how they solved that but man. It's chilling, isn't it?
#ask#jellyfish#mun rambles#Don't mess with jellyfish they'll mess with you back#Anyways I hope you find this guide helpful and keep as many jellyfish alive as possible <333#This is mostly a subjective impression on killability but I think I'm qualified for something like this haha

20 questions For Fic Writers
thank you so much for taggin me, @colettebronte
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
All of six (although some unfinished) fics. However, I have written about fifty all in all, most of them are just up on my old livejournal. I haven't posted them on AO3 because no one would read them anyway.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
159 307 words.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently Brigderton. And I have this Stucky WIP that I really do still intend on finishing. Other than that, I have written quite a bit for Doctor Who, Torchwood, SPN RPF and of course, Harry Potter (Remus/Sirius forever).
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
our love is these days' piano (penthony)
R&R (rose/doctor)
(and in between i drink) black coffee (spn rpf)
be kind, unwind (spn rpf)
water out of wine (the aforementioned stucky wip)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I used to reply to every comment, back on LJ and on AO3 as well, but I was not prepared for the amount of comments I got for OLITDP. I couldn't keep up and ran out of new ways to say "thank you so much <3" so I haven't replied to any in a while. But every comment I get on the final chapter will definitely get a response.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
None that are on AO3. Life is stressful enough as it is, I just want my blorbos to be happy. Some of my earlier HP-fics were kind of angsty, mostly because I didn't quite do AU's yet. So there were lots of sad character moments for Remus and Sirius.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Pretty much all of them? Back when I started writing fics, I wrote a few with sad endings, but now I'll keep it ambiguous at the very least.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
One person commented on the first chapter of OLITDP that I should "be more obvious with self inserting and write OC/Anthony." Does that count?
I found it hilarious because a) I don't see how there's anything wrong with writing OC's and b) I genuinely was not self inserting.
But other than that, no. I haven't nearly gained enough traction to get hate.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I (anonymously!) wrote one smutty fic once and I still feel uncomfortable about it. As far as writing is concerned, it's just not my cup of tea. So much respect to the people who do, though.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Alas, no crossovers. If I ever think of a good idea for one, I would love to try my hand at it, though.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of. Again, I'm not even close to well known enough to have something like that happen.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
See above.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! I co-wrote a Remus/Sirius-fic with one of my LJ-besties at the time. I also started writing a fic with another LJ-friend that basically was Hogwarts: the Marauders Years. From what I remember, it was quite good, but it never got posted, I think.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
I can't possibly. I can tell you for each fandom, but I could never choose just one. I could perhaps narrow it down to Remus/Sirius and Stucky. And Ten/Rose. And Jack/Ianto. And J2. And Penthony.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
The Stucky WIP, without a doubt. It's possibly some of the best writing I've ever done. I think.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I'm definitely not saying I always hit the mark, but I do feel that whenever I've written something I'm kind of proud of, it's usually to do with explaining someone's feelings without outright stating them.
I like delving into the psychology of emotionally stunted characters and trying to convey exactly how ignorant they are about their (and others') feelings. And I think I'm usually best at that when I write dialogue.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
DESCRIPTIONS. I HATE THEM. THEY ARE THE WORST. If I get stuck on writing a chapter it is always, 100% that which I get stuck on.
Like for OLITDP, 65% of the coming chapters has been written, all through dialogue. Getting from one spoken line to the next, however, is THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I've written a few school plays, which have been in my native tongue (Dutch) and that's okay. But it would feel weird writing dialogue in a language which is not part of the fandom. Maybe I could squeeze in a few lines of badly written French if the plot really called for it, I guess?
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Harry Potter, which was my main and only fandom for about 10 years.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Maybe my Stucky WIP? There's some bits in there that are quite good.
I'm also quite proud of Be Kind, Unwind (my first J2 AU and first and only finished Big Bang) and Cut Here (a J2 version of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind).
Honourable mention to Midnight, which is a (partial and unposted) rewrite of a Harry Potter-fic I started writing almost 20 years ago. Not necessarily because it's particularly well-written, but I did enjoy taking some of my older work and rewriting it in my current style. It's kind of neat to see how my writing's evolved.
If you made it this far, thank you so much for reading my silly rants on my silly writing.
Tagging @writingwhilecaffeinated, @doom-cookie1, @princessgotham21 and @queen-of-the-wallflowers15 and everyone who feels like doing it!

Tiddalik
Image © Paizo Publishing, accessed at Archives of Nethys here
[The three themes I'm working with in April are PF2e conversions, wrapping up the World Tour of Oceania, and starting on commissions. This is all three! Commissioned by @vonbaghager. Tiddalik the Greedy Frog is one of the Australian Aboriginal monsters with the highest profile among Westerners, being the subject of children's books, children's plays and an episode of the PBS show Super Why! (sort of a superhero-themed Reading Rainbow analogue). Notably, this behavior is at least thematically consistent with real frogs. The water-storing frog estivates underground during the dry season in a mucus cocoon filled with water, sort of like a lungfish. ]
Tiddalik CR 7 NE Magical Beast This creature is a frog the size of a wagon, its body grossly swollen. You can hear the faint sloshing of water inside it as it moves and speaks.
Tiddaliks are monstrous frogs native to desert climes that survive the long period between rains by absorbing water like a living sponge. Unfortunately, they are peevish and cruel, and move from place to place absorbing as much water as they can, even if they don’t need it, simply for the joy of depriving others. In the desert, tiddaliks are seen as physical embodiments of selfishness and greed, and many tales and legends have sprung up around them. Some of them are even true—the idea that a tiddalik can be tricked into expelling its water with a hearty belly laugh is one of them. Unfortunately, tiddaliks are most easily amused by suffering.
A tiddalik rarely starts fights on their own—although they are carnivorous, they prefer to eat things that can’t fight back, sniping small game with blasts of pressurized water. These jets are also used as a defensive weapon until enemies get close enough that the tiddalik can grab them in its jaws and crush them. Few tiddaliks will bother to chase down fleeing enemies, but likewise they are often too stubborn to flee or surrender themselves.
A tiddalik is about ten feet in diameter. They weigh over twenty tons when waterlogged, and about one ton when empty.
Tiddalik CR 7 XP 3,200 NE Huge magical beast (amphibious) Init +2; Senses low-light vision, Perception +13 Defense AC 19, touch 10, flat-footed 17 (-2 size, +2 Dex, +9 natural) hp 92 (8d10+54) Fort +12, Ref +8, Will +6 Weakness mirthful Offense Speed 10 ft., swim 10 ft. Special Attacks disgorge, expel wave Statistics Str 23, Dex 15, Con 23, Int 6, Wis18, Cha 10 Base Atk +8; CMB +16 (+20 grapple); CMD 28 (32 vs. trip) Feats Nimble Moves, Power Attack, Skill Focus (Survival), Vital Strike Skills Acrobatics +7 (-1 when jumping), Climb +10,Perception +13, Survival +9, Swim +18; Racial Modifiers +4 Acrobatics when jumping, +4 Perception Languages Common SQ amphibious, drink abundance Ecology Environment warm deserts Organization solitary or pair Treasure incidental Special Abilities Disgorge (Ex) A tiddalik can release the water in its body willingly as a full round action, and the water is released automatically when the creature is slain. When the tiddalik releases water, it bursts in a 10 foot radius, dealing 8d6 points of bludgeoning damage to all creatures in the area (Ref DC 20 half). This water makes that 10 foot radius difficult terrain. The save DC is Constitution based. Drink Abundance (Ex) By spending 8 hours, a tiddalik can drink 5000 gallons of water. When it does so, it is considered to be waterlogged, which reduces its speed by 20 feet, but it can use its spit attack and disgorge and expel wave abilities. The statistics above assume that the tiddalik is waterlogged. Expel Wave (Ex) As a standard action, a tiddalik can shoot high pressure water in a 60 foot cone. All creatures in the area take 4d6 points of damage and are pushed back 10 feet. A successful DC 20 Reflex save halves the damage and negates the push effect. The save DC is Constitution based. A tiddalik can use this ability once every 1d4 rounds, but only when it is waterlogged. Mirthful (Ex) A tiddalik can be forced to use its disgorge ability with a Perform (comedy) check against a DC of 20 + the tiddalik’s Will save modifier. Spit (Ex) As a standard action, a tiddalik can spit out a jet of water. Treat this as a thrown weapon with a range increment of 30 feet. A creature struck takes 2d6 bludgeoning damage plus the tiddalik’s Strength bonus.

Sonarian Games: Aholai vs Aleicuda:
Aholai
the aholai is a tier 3 photovore with a deadly poison, looking a bit like a mixture between a deer and a apple. it uses it’s apple-slice like frills to soak up the sun. it takes 26 minutes to fully grow. it is a gentle creature. the aholai has only a couple traits:
1 necro poison, which when bitten inverts the color vision of the attacker. if this stacks it will inflict confusion, tunnel vision, and bleed, in that order.
10% bleed defense, a small portion of bleed inflicted will be nullified, which may be useful against some enemies.
the aholai is notable for it’s diet, as a photovore it only needs to drink water and may create infinite food sources for herbivore packmates. however, being a older creature, one of the first added in the game, the aholai has significantly less impressive stats then a few fellow necro poison creatures. it is also frail enough to be one-shot by certain creatures, such as hygos or polymonstrum. due to a glitch, if a defensive-status inflicting creature is one shot, it will not inflict it’s status onto the attacker.
Aleicuda
the aleicuda is a tier 4 aquatic carnivore that takes 30min to fully grow. it is a agile, flying-fish like creature that jumps out of the water to catch flying creatures or enemies from below, and has a fast metabolism. it has a fair good amount of abilities:
3 bleed, which when inflicted causes regeneration on the opponent to stop, and slowly tick away health unless they heal off the status. with SiN, this can be amplified to 5.
20% bleed defense, which nullifies a portion of bleed. this can be useful in going against heavy bleeders such as magnarothus, where when usually a lethal bite would be inflicted it allows the aleicuda to survive such a bite.
Sand Breath, used by pressing the C button. it inflicts .25DPS, blurred vision, and tunnel vision on targets.
Strength in Numbers(SiN), where, with each adult aleicuda in your pack, your weight, bleed, health, and appetite are increased. this stacks up to 4 times.
the aleicuda has a fairly great attack, with alongside bleed and sand breath can make fighting it risky. as a aquatic, there’s a lower player density under water, so there’s hardly much a risk growing this. it’s fairly short growth for it’s tier gives it a notable advantage over enemies. it however has extremely low HP for aquatics, and it’s moderate weight can hinder it significantly in battle.

So, I had this random Harry Potter (AU?) fanfic idea. What if there was a HP/TVD (TVD stands for “The Vampire Diaries” and it takes TVD elements/aspects and puts it in HP, so it’s still HP and not a crossover) fic? It’s also fem!Harry. There will obviously be a lot of changes to the story, and rebuilding, but I feel like if done right, it can be really cool. Here are some points and stuff I had in mind for it:
The time period would be very different. It either follows the TVD timeline (or it somehow mixes both) or it’s more modern time (like HP cursed child). So, a lot of the characters birth years would have to change and be pushed back and/or forward. If it follows the TVD timeline, than Harry would be born in the year 1992-1993 (instead of 1980), and it should take place in 2003-2004. If it follows the modern timeline, then Harry would be born 2005-2006, and it should take place 2016-2017. Note, it should only start at those years if (and only if) the story starts from the beginning, when they were 10-11. If it starts when they’re 16-17, then depending on which time period that is chosen, it would start off in the years 2008-2009(TVD)/2022-2023(Modern).
It can either be realistic to our real life world or semi-realistic, where some of the events and things that happened in real life happen/happened in there, but not everything (so maybe Covid would not have ever been a thing).
The Potter family would be the Bennett family of the universe. Harry would be Bonnie (the character, not the name). This is mostly because of the whole Bennett witches being so connected with death and “the other side” (bc of Bonnie’s ancestor, Qetsiyah) and then Bonnie becoming the anchor to the other side. Then we have the Potter family also being connected with death and the whole Master of Death thing (bc of Harry’s ancestor, Ignotus) and then Harry becoming the “Master of Death”. Since the Bennett family is mostly dominated by the women, the same can be done with the Potter family, and just make up some more Potter witches if there’s not enough canonical, or, it can focus on both the Witches and Wizards in the family.
Squibs would be the Siphoners. The Squibs can be as they are, magically born people with no magic themselves, and though they can still see magical things, they can’t really interact with it or they can be all that but actually have the ability to siphon (draw out) magic from magical beings/things (obviously with limits) to use.
For the werewolves (or Vamps), they can be kept as they are in HP or can be changed completely to TVD werewolves (and Vamps) or just keep them as they are in HP but they have some TVD aspects (like the werewolves being able to control their transformations with Moonlight rings and vamps being resistant to sunlight with Daylight rings but without giving them any superhuman abilities or immortality).
The founding families could either be the Pureblooded families (the sacred 28) or the founders of Hogwarts (Helga, Rowena, Godric, and Salazar).
The elixir of life in HP is literally just the immortality elixir in TVD (they’re literally the same thing, only, where the HP one has limits/is not forever and you have to drink it regularly, the TVD one is forever just from one drink.
How death(s) and ghosts are handled can be a mixture between both franchises or you can decide on which one you want it to lean towards more.
Vampire Hunters & any other Supernatural Hunters could be made relevant, and actually be (somewhat) important figures in the story. You can do a mixture of both or decide whether you like the TVD or HP version better.
For sirens, they can be as they are in HP, mixed up, or make them as powerful and important as the TVD sirens (or maybe the Veela’s can be changed into what the TVD sirens are instead, since the sirens in HP live in water, have no legs, and thus can’t come out to land. So Veela’s could just be the sirens of the land [land sirens]).
