thoughts on "tradwives" as a 19th-century social historian
It's great until it's not.
It's great until he develops an addiction and starts spending all the money on it.
It's great until you realize he's abusive and hid it long enough to get you totally in his power (happened to my great-great-aunt Irene).
It's great until he gets injured and can't work anymore.
It's great until he dies and your options are "learn a marketable skill fast" or "marry the first eligible man you can find."
It's great until he wants child #7 and your body just can't take another pregnancy, but you can't leave or risk desertion because he's your meal ticket.
It's great until he tries to make you run a brothel as a get-rich-quick scheme and deserts you when you refuse, leaving your sisters to desperately fundraise so your house doesn't get foreclosed on (happened to my great-great-aunt Mamie).
It's great until you want to leave but you can't. It's great until you want to do something else with your life but you can't. It's great. Until. It's. Not.
I won't lie to you and say nobody was ever happy that way. Plenty of women have been, and part of feminism is acknowledging that women have the right to choose that sort of life if they want to.
But flinging yourself into it wholeheartedly with no sort of safety net whatsoever, especially in a period where it's EXTREMELY easy for him to leave you- as it should be; no-fault divorce saves lives -is naive at best and dangerous at worst.
Have your own means of support. Keep your own bank account; we fought hard enough to be allowed them. Gods willing, you never need that safety net, but too many women have suffered because they needed it and it wasn't there.

Drilling a well in your property helps to ensure you get a healthy supply of water in your residence at all times. However, you need to maintain the well with some simple steps.

I know poor little meow meows are so often men but gosh do I love a little guy (who is a girl) that just has everything in the book wrong with her & also she’s got the most pathetically sad backstory ever. yes she’s capable of atrocities but have you seen her big sad eyes & her over the top depressing sob story? ignore the blood magic & grave robbing did you know her life was already so bad & then it got insurmountably worse because everyone around her couldn’t resist the urge to kick the shit out of her when she was already down 🥺

speaking of Cold having impulsive thoughts and not intrusive ones– as he is in the construct, I don't think Cold ever had any intrusive thoughts, since he genuinely considers every thought that enters his head as interesting enough to try it out at least once
But I do think in an 'out of the construct' scenario, he'd develop intrusive thoughts. And because they're very similar to the impulsive thoughts he already had ("what if I stabbed this person on the heart?" except the thought actually perturbs him now instead of seeming mildly interesting), he'd struggle with seperating them from his actual wants, just adding to his self-image of being an irredeemable and terrible person that everyone is right to be afraid of.

Thinking about Reverend Daughter Gideon again.
Like Harrow Nova is tragic on a outrageous level, two hundred murders that did nothing, but Harrow knew what her parents done when she was very young and the thought of a tiny baby Gideon learning that she should be dead but isn’t is just…. Her attempted murderers are now acting like her parents while their actual child (the only companion she knows) is treated like trash right in front of her.
Our Harrow tries to be the best because of massive guilt, that even though she knows she can’t ever make up for what her parents did she has to at least try. Reverend Daughter Gideon, however, would be driven by fear. The only thing that kept her above being treated like Nova is being a necromancer, if she’s a bad one she might just lose everything.
The fandom needs more Reverend Daughter Gideon is what I’m saying

👆 they're about 24-25 here. Ochako's gained weight since high school and I think, since they're dating (because they are), Bakugou would be more into her than ever. He likes thicker girls, Horikoshi told me himself. That's why he drew Ochako bigger.

Been doing re-draws of old fanart for practice, so I re-drew the “Murderbot intimidates Gurathin” scene from All Systems Red.
