apart from the verbal sparring and the visual implication of the parted curtains, what i enjoyed about this scene is how ambessa truly writes caitlyn off as someone she can completely manipulate.

we are familiar with ambessa's 'blood for blood' mentality when it comes to family and, in some way, that is true for caitlyn especially in the first act. but now that all things are said and done, caitlyn wavers and ambessa senses this, too; the conviction is there but the resolve requires fuel. so ambessa stokes the fire, literally and figuratively, choosing the words 'anger' and 'sorrow' to remind caitlyn what she should feel, appealing to caitlyn's grief yet again.

the problem is, ambessa sees too much of herself in caitlyn that she underestimates caitlyn's talent for deduction. and that is clear in ambessa's reaction in the end of the act.

i know we have our reservations against caitlyn but i think we can somewhat agree that her mind, when put to work in things unrelated to autocracy, is simply brilliant.

ohhhhhh my god saltydkdan comic about my 2 favorite sonic characters???? This comic is fantastic, the ending text is such a punch to the gut (/pos) i'm gonna be blubbering about this for the rest of the day. i feel like this comic really understands shadow and his character better than sega has for years (with a few exceptions like in The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog where Shadow's characterization is actually kinda good.) thank you to everyone involved for making this, as a huge Shadow fan this type of stuff is wonderful to see.

Oh! That’s most certainly Mitzi, on first read I didn’t look close and thought that was Atlas’s silhouette. All the old crew are caught adrift in what was, huh.

Which means that which ‘makes light for dead eyes’ is the dead tree… does it represent Atlas? Or the dead husk of what he built, upon which Mordecai Mitzi and Victor project so much?

What is that veining the tree? Lightning?( the crackles certainly suggest so).

Or is it water ? a flood slowly seeping through the dead husk of what was built, until it all cataclysmically crumbles (the primary mechanisms of which would be ROT and slowly building water pressure, very thematically appropriate).

They’re in a desert, with a singular dead tree. a trickle would bring life, a deluge will lead to flash flooding and destroy the tree. But I’m not sure what water IS metaphorically in that interpretation of the scenario. I do know that the great flood of 1927 is coming.

There’s a storm brewing in the sky(which would bring WATER), maybe they’re all waiting for lightning to strike twice — that would make Atlas’s first entrance into their lives a metaphorically lightning strike, ultimately destructive. And if the tree crackles with energy, then perhaps that suggests that is what M&M&V are doing — living off the aftershocks of energy, waiting for another lightening strike even if that might mean doom.

Interesting, not quite sure what to make of it, except that living trapped in memory is unlikely to end well for any of them!

So you ever have a scene that you really want to write but simultaneously do not want to write? That was me today. So I spent most of the day avoiding it and didn't do it until about 4pm. What did I do in the interim? Well I decided to move some furniture in my bedroom.

In New Zealand there does seem to be a problem with houses getting leaks or mold. Ours is the second. I'm so grateful we have an affordable place to rent but it does come with a couple of drawbacks. Below the cut you'll see some pictures of a wall that I last cleaned with bleach and water a mere six months ago. That wall is behind my desk and my bed. It had mold despite me running a dehumidifier in my room every second day over winter. So I spent a big chunk of today attempting to clean it again. It's mostly gone but there are some dots of mold that just won't shift, I think they've stained the paint somehow.

Yeah this is why the inclusion of death by mold freaked me out and I'm unlikely to play with it

I repeat, I cleaned down this particular wall six months ago. Sure I could move my heavy furniture out to clean the wall every week but I'm little. I've no idea if any is behind my bookcases because they're too big to move but they are internal walls while that's an external wall so hopefully it's okay.

having access to hyrule historia as a child was definitely a mistake and i wouldn't have it any other way. legitimately without that book i don't think i ever would have been as interested in media with rich worlds and possibilities to explore and questions that are asked but never answered. the zelda timeline is fucked up, but in a way that makes you (me) have to think extra hard as to *how* those games connect, cause the writers of hyrule historia sure as hell don't. no joke i spent a whole day researching how long it takes for a lake to dry up and reform, forests to grow, volcanoes to form and erupt, etc just so i could determine exactly how many years are in between minish cap and ocarina of time so i knew what hyrule would look like in my minish cap sequel au 😭

hyrule historia also taught me to appreciate the small details in games (something i have become. maybe a little bit TOO obsessed with as of late) and it fostered my love for concept art/artbooks. i owe so much to that godforsaken book lmao
