I love Trafalgar Law, by the way, like... Kind of pretentious? Really elaborate plans that would work perfectly if only they worked at all? No sense of humor? Yeah baby that's me.

It's Funny How A Decade Ago People Were Ranting How Sexist One Piece Was During The Dressrosa Saga (And Now We Have A Character Like Bonney Who Is Doing Extraordinary Things)
Tumblr media
I remember all the discourse back in the Dressarosa arc about how sexist Oda was and how he never let his females do anything. Seriously, it makes me think if the series ended around there it would have probably gotten a reputation from those people for being quote of quote sexist. The things ranged from not giving the women enough fights to damseling to female villains getting redeemed easily to ugly and older women not getting good treatment to you name it everything they could think of. Ever since then I think One Piece itself has refuted a lot of the complaints had then by people who probably won't admit they judged too early.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since then we have gotten peak female characters, even one people deny is female due to ideology. But we got peak interesting characters that people love and show themselves to be enduring characters who defy everything that Dressrosa critics say females in One Piece are usually restricted in. They have been shown to be physical fighters and have shown to have their own stories outside of romance despite still being tied with men. I say that even some women characters who are mothers and wives and sometimes not even attractive can have interesting characters.
Tumblr media
I take for example Chiffon who is shown to be a mother and a wife, but she also has something outside of it where she endure years of abuse due to being Lola's twin because she walked out of an arranged marriage. And again she uses her skills to help subdue her mother when she goes on a rampage even when she wanted nothing to do with her anymore. Also her relationship with her husband is just enduring and how he goes the extra mile to save her from one of her own brothers who was going to kill her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also I would like to add Big Mom and Brulee who both get complexity despite being antagonists and ugly. Big Mom in particular due to she could have been one big fat joke when in reality she really is someone who is a product of people who failed her that it turned her into the woman she is today. She truly was a woman with mental problems who could have been a good person if she had good direction but now she directs a household where her children fear her and are under her whim.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also lastly we got female attractive villains that didn't turn good like Ulti and Black Maria, while they did have redeeming qualities they still remained villains to the end. Ulti was even willing to go physical with male protagonists like Luffy.
Tumblr media
Even though it's been over a decade since Dressrosa, I still remember those inane arguments and I think how judging this series too quickly in the middle comes off as foolish especially when you see later stuff. This especially comes to female characters because again people underestimate what Oda has in surprise and how he can grow.

How will you be handling the whole devil fruit thing in your reverse strawhat AU? Wano arc revealed that Luffy having the gumgum/nika fruit is actually very important, and he woun't have had defeated Kaidou otherwise. So does Ace just eats it in this AU and then Luffy has the mera mera no mi so Dressrosa can go on like canon? How will you do this?
Honestly I’ve thought about this a lot.
Luffy still meets Shanks in this au. He still gets the gum gum/Nika fruit.
Ace still finds the Mera mera fruit after he leaves dawn island.
But Luffy is the one who dies in marineford.
I know we need Nika later in the story. So I have two options that I’ve played with
Sabo gets the Nika fruit in dressrose
Luffy gets pulled into this universe to help them defeat Kaido.
So the problem with idea one is I can’t see any other character as Joyboy.
I think Sabo and Ace still meet in Dressrosa and that they get Luffy’s fruit there. But I don’t know if Sabo would eat it.
Sabo is a revolutionary. The god a freedom and the drums of liberation fit him well. But he’s not the out pouring of joy that Luffy is.
Maybe he eats it.
If he does he awakes the fruit fast. His personal drive for freedom and to liberate others meshes well with Nika.
But I think his Nika would be way more unhinged than Luffy’s. Like a you get in my way and I’ll annihilate you while laughing like a maniac. It’s less joyful and more maniacal laughter. I think he’d also need to be talked down from that form, he’d lose himself to it in a way Luffy doesn’t.
Or he doesn’t eat the fruit.
Both he and Ace decided no one else is worthy of Luffy’s fruit and they won’t give it to someone who is unworthy.
Maybe they eventually meet another character that is worthy of the fruit and allow them to have it.
But in this reality Ace would have to awaken the Mera Mera to defeat Kaido. Which means we get to play with what an awaken Mera Mera fruit looks like.
Then there is always the second option.
Form the very beginning I wanted the Strawhats and the reverse Strawhats to meet. I wasn’t sure how to do that. I figured a devil fruit or a mystic island would bring them together.
But what if during the fight with Kaido someone activates a devil fruit. A final ditch effort to call of help. And it brings the Strawhats to this dimension.
Luffy has no clue why they are back in Wano. Or why Kaido is still around. But he sees Ace and Kaido fighting. Maybe Ace is losing? And while he doesn’t understand what’s happening, Ace is here. And Kaido is hurting Ace and Wano. Luffy’s kicked his butt once before it will be way easier this time.
I think the strawhats get dropped in and before anyone can put together what the heck is happening, Luffy just launches himself at Kaido.
But again I’m still playing with these ideas.
The dropped into reverse Wano has some promise. I’ve been thinking about Law and if I was going to have him remain or replace him with Rosinante. (I still need to make it to Dressarosa so this is just an idea right now)
But if we drop the strawhat alliance into Wano then not only are all the strawhats meeting their counterparts but you get a reunion between Law and Rosinante as well. Things to keep in mind as we build.
But what do you guys think?

I love that the Dressarosa Arc gave off such a Spanish theme for the entire setting. Had to draw Corazon doing the Flamenco. Probably the one time he's not clumsy at all.

thinking about the timeline for Bunny's misadventures in knocking up the One Piece men
The earliest point i can think of is that Bunny somehow ended up in Water 7 after Tom and (supposedly) Franky died, and then knocks up Iceburg. She doesn't realize this happened, and leaves the next day
I haven't figured out how but she ends up at Enies Lobby, maybe she's hired as a nurse for Spandam. Don't know how far the relationship goes before she knocks him up but whatever
So this would probably happen if she ended up in CP9, but when they leave to Water 7, Bunny joins them, finds out her actions have consequences, and disappears from everyone. Chaos Ensues.
i don't have much ideas but i'm almost on the Dressarosa Arc and I drew Doffy like thrice on this blog so like. maybe she also knocked him up during her disappearance
unfortunately for her it does turn out that knocking up a Warlord of the sea is a bad idea when you're on the run. more chaos again. She gets sent to Impel Down. yea sure
Even though i haven't thought to much about this part, it seems like something i want to include: During Marineford, Bunny joins the Blackbeard Pirates. don't know if this is "Canon" to this AU but it would be cool.
Does she knock up anyone in the blackbeard pirates? idk but I hear Doc Q is voiced by Naoya Uchida and like. that doesn't have much to do with anything but i might consider it the next time i see him in the manga. lmao
And then after everything is over. if Cross Guild still exists i want Bunny to end up with a relationship with Crochawk. Because Mihawk is like really hot and Crocodile's japanese VA also voiced a guy in the japanese dub of Home on the Range
and home on the range? i heard the dvd was THX certified. and i don't know if this trait carried over into the op world, but Bunny is very into things that are THX certified
Long story short: Bunny is a fucking menace

On one hand, you are right. One Piece has themes, and those themes result in certain patterns repeating in its villains. On the other hand, i do think that Doflamingo's substance is less unique than many other villains; he is similar to bit-part hubris freaks like Don Krieg in ways that other villains aren't. Examples under the cut.
I'll start by pointing out another villain archetype common to bit-part villains: The coward with power behind him who uses that power as an excuse to push people around. The example who comes to mind first is Spandam. This mostly serves as a quick hard counter to arguing that all One Piece villains fit one template.
The most Don-Krieg-ish arc villain in Paradise is Kami Eneru. At first glance, his god complex resembles Krieg and Doflamingo's combination of arrogance and other-people-are-tools.
But there are important differences! First off, escalating that arrogance to the level of a literal god complex is, in my opinion, no mere difference of scale. Eneru isn't merely overconfident, he's borderline delusional! Second, while he views other people as beneath him, he's willing to see them as people in a way Doffy and Krieg don't. If the survivors of his "death game" didn't all hate him, I get the sense that he would have taken them with him to Endless Varse, regardless of whether they'd provide him any benefit.
Also, he has a specific dream. Eneru doesn't want to maintain or claim a position of power; he wants to go to Endless Varse. This both changes the shape of his plotline (the Straw Hats need to stop a specific plot) and has thematic significance. Eneru's dream is as strong as Luffy's, which is why he arguably succeeds. Skypieia isn't destroyed, but he does go to the moon.
I'll lightning-round a few other examples, starting with Boa Hancock. She was an antagonist for about a volume, and I think the differences between her and Don Krieg are self-explanatory. Same with Foxy the Silver Fox, except without the crush on Luffy.
Crocodile doesn't have the same kind of superiority complex, and most of his plan is covert enough to set him apart from other villains. Doflamingo covered up the origin of Dressarosa's toys, but he didn't have a whole secret society running a conspiracy to instigate a civil war and take control of the ashes!
Hody Jones is quite similar to Arlong, who fits the Don Krieg template about as well as Doflamingo. But Hody isn't alone; he's working hand-in-hand with Vander Decken IX, who has a completely different personality and goal, which ultimately causes conflict between them that isn't possible with the unyieldingly vertical relationships between Doffy and his subordinates.
Gecko Moriah is way different. He subverts people's freedom in a completely different way from the warlords and wannabe warlords, and his affect is less prideful than slothful.
I'm partway through Whole Cake Island, but Big Mom is her own flavor of dictator. She rules in part through fear, of course, but more significant is her abuse of family dynamics. She is the abusive, controlling parent blown up to gigantic scale, not just in terms of height but scale, controlling over a hundred direct descendants (plus in-laws and their associates) through a mixture of fear and shame. No one wants to disappoint their mom!
Captain Kuro is arguably the first arc villain in the series, and while he is a crucial foundation for both overarching themes and specific motifs—including one specifically relevant to Doflamingo—he still stands out.
Yes, he uses people as tools and blames them for his failures. Yes, he has an inflated ego. But that ego doesn't manifest in simple megalomania; it blinds him to ways he could achieve his goals that don't rely on him and on his plans. His downfall doesn't simply come from pissing off the wrong pirate at the wrong time, but from the tunnel vision his ego gives him.
There are a lot of ways to make a villain different in substance from Don Krieg, and...well, Doflamingo isn't identical to Krieg. But he doesn't distinguish himself as well from other villains in Krieg's mold.
Back in 2022, before my repeated attempts to get into One Piece, there's only one villain from the series I'm confident I'd be able to identify as a One Piece character. I don't know what the OP fandom thinks its most iconic villain is, but as a fandom outsider, I'd have guessed Doflamingo Donquixote.
Having read the Dressrosa arc, I'm not that impressed. And not in the way I'm not impressed with Frieza, where he doesn't click with me but I see why he'd be the series's most iconic villain. Doflamingo has cool powers used in creative ways, but aside from that I can't think of anything he does better than previous villains.
He's another entitled jerk with a lot of power and no regard for people he considers "lesser". What distinguishes Doflamingo from Don Krieg, aside from superior power level and style?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Doflamingo menaces an entire island-kingdom instead of a single restaurant, and he keeps up his reign of terror for ten years instead of ten minutes—but again, higher power level.
Doflamingo reshapes the battlefield with his Birdcage, but Don Krieg's destructive cannons and poison gas and such do something similar. Smaller, less effective, less visually impressive—but again, higher power level and superior sense of style.
Doflamingo not-so-secretly regards his followers and family as mere tools, to be discarded if they become a liability, just like Krieg. He cultivates a one-sided feeling of familial loyalty among his closest followers, but that's not really focused on in the Dressrosa arc.
Doflamingo is confident to the point of arrogance, so was Krieg. Doflamingo's is more tempered, but that's not enough to set him apart on its own.
Doflamingo's arrogance and sense of superiority comes from his Celestial Dragon heritage rather than Don Krieg's superior manpower and weaponry, which feels like part of it. Doflamingo is one of the first Noble antagonists the Straw Hats face, as much a pirate as he is a greater power. But this isn't the first time the Straw Hats fought against the Powers That Be, or even the first time Luffy punched specifically the son of a Celestial Dragon.
Tumblr media
Nothing about Doflamingo feels Special. Or at least, not Special enough to make him an iconic villain, the one villain non-fans can identify. He feels like a remix of older villain components with a fresh coat of paint, new powers and new atrocities and new action scenes. What sets him apart from the crowd?
Is it the buildup he got as early as Sabaody Take One? Is it his liminal status, the last mere pirate Luffy fights before challenging the Emperors and re-challenging the World Government?
Is it his superior style? Because for all I criticized Doflamingo, his design is straight fire.
Tumblr media
This man steals the stage with an ease few anime villains can match. And that's before he encloses an entire island in a stringy birdcage. His substance doesn't thrill me, but style is another thing entirely.

Wano is like Dressarosa to me.
Hard to follow, displays a lot of One Piece's flaws, but also has interesting ideas.
I feel once i read it in collected editions, or just reread it in big chunks though Viz media's app, it will read better.
...
The Oden flashback section, and the introduction of Yamato, make Wano an arc I can't hate though.

So I'm watching one piece, the dressarosa arc, and doflamingo's closing the bird cage, and my brain gives me another reason to be disappointed in it. As people were running for their lives, my brain decided to note that at least the fields would be plowed for planting.

Hi! Maybe ❓ 🎆🔫? :3 Have a nice day!
Hey Bas!
Thanks for playing! I hope you have a nice day too!
❓ - What unanswered questions do you have related to One Piece?
I personally think there are a lot of unanswered questions in general about devils fruit powers, but I think my biggest question is Big Mom.
Some spoilers of you havent read past WCI arc below.
So I think the generally accepted theory is that Big Mom are Mother Carmel and those other kids when she got carried away at that party they threw for her. That's how Big Mom got Mother Carmels devil fruit powers.
But it's my understanding that when a devils fruit user dies, their fruit grows back out somewhere in the world for someone else to have.
So does that mean that Carmel is still alive inside Big Mom??? Or did her powers just transfer over when she got eaten?? Can cannibals steal DF powers by eating the people with those power. Idk. Explain me the thing!!
🎆 - Something you can’t wait for??!!
KID PIRATES BACKSTORY BABY!!!
*grabby hands* I genuinely cannot wait to know more about their crew and I am terrified Oda isn't going to give it to us. I wanna know how they met and how Kid became an asshole 😂
🔫 - Fave canon arc?
I've always really enjoyed the Water 7 Arc though I have really enjoyed the most recent arcs, like WCI, Dressarosa and Wano!
I'm looking forward to seeing how things resolve in Wano!

My orgin story
I was thinking about it and honestly I had a rollercoast ride of a time with BlackClover.
The only other like long haul anime I was ever into was One Piece but I kind of dropped of in Dressarosa.
So I really started Black Clover after coming home from a party drunk off my ass during Christmas Break in December 2017. Why did I choose then to watch it? During the party I was playing rage cage which if you don't know it's a game that involves a ton of red solo cups, beer and the hard stuff. I won't explain it here because it would take forever but Google it if you care. So basically the loser has to drink from a cup of hard liquor, beer and sometimes juice all combined (I know there are variations idc). So ya girl lost and had to drink the cup. I was already super wasted and my friend's boyfriend who knew I was walking home and honestly probably just didn't want to drive me offered me a deal: I'll split this with you if you watch Black Clover. Fucking deal.
So anyways, after drinking some more I went home and started watching it, the first episodes were meh- I almost stopped but then I met Yami and I was fucking sold. This year of school was really tough for me, I was being overworked, had a full schedule of biology classes, my boyfriend proposed (and I said no) and my roommate had a physically and mentally abusive boyfriend who I obviously hated and they would literally keep me up at night fighting, I had to call the cops on them and eventually she ODed (then recovered) because who how depressed she became dating him.
I am not exaggerating when I say Black Clover was a small ray of light in an other wise bleak year. But I needed to get out of my life a little so I accepted an internship to live in Ghana for three months studying infectious disease. So while I was there I stopped watching Black clover because my internet was shitty most of them time and I could really only watch what I downloaded on to Netflix from the University when I was there for class.
Fast forward literally over a year, I dumped my boyfriend when I got back, moved to a new apartment with a great roommate, switched jobs, graduated and went to grad school!
My first term of grad school was a bit stressful because I moved to a new city literally the first day of class and both of my professors were trash so I thought: "time to watch Black clover again".
The first time around I watched until Asta's arms were cursed so when I came back to it the first arc was the witch arc, then the royal knights, then the elf arc. I forgot how much I loved it and made my roommate and boyfriend (obviously a new one who doesn't guilt trip me into marrying him) watch it all too.
Then finally, a couple of months ago, my boyfriend and I went to a cabin his family owned in the middle of nowhere to do some renovations and with my very terrible wifi connection I decided to start a blog.
So yeah idk I really love Black Clover because it's been with me through some really stressful times and it just makes me happy.

Saw people talk about like the straw hats goals and when they would be achieved so decided to make a post about it. @ii-luffy-ii was big brain to help. this is some what a long post
lets start with like definite end game goals
robin - definite endgame. like the whole void century, the poneglyphs basically the “True history™” is related to finding raftel because robin figured it out in skypiea that roger , atleast its implied that roger found most of the missing history and took them all to one place that seems to be raftel.
franky - definite endgame. wants his ship to travel far and wide with the pirate king at its helm which will be achieved at the end of the show. besides that he has or atleast we think he has memorized the blue prints to one of the ancient weapons - pluton , a massive destructo warship. He’s also one of the seeming connections to dr.vegapunk but we dont really know where that goes.(maybe if vegapunk shows up in wano something something oda’s logic franky and vegapunk could get it on and they could talk about how he gave the pacisfista kizaru’s laser beams and maybe we can see a franky upgrade which is much needed now that i think about it)
brook - definite endgame. atleast close to it. wants to REUNITE with laboon (so fcuking romantic, definitley the good ending of hachiko the dog).
GYMBEIGH (yeah fuck you) - well this is our resident fish dad or atleast is supposed to be. location unknown. goals unknown. assumed goal is that he is the representative of the fishmen who want to live under the sun on the surface and also dont forget that one thread that oda left us that is madame shyarly’s prediction that luffy is gonna be the reason that fishman island burns. cant decide if he is endgame because goals are unclear.
VIVI (yeah i said it, go and see the official one piece youtube channel’s banner you guys vivi is there, thats more than enough for me)
Tumblr media
so vivi? if she does join the strawhats its gonna be for endgame reasons. she is the heir to the throne of alabasta, a nefertari which is one of the founding families that left mariejois. it’ll be kinda poetic if someone from the celestial dragon bloodline fights along with Mr.Monkey.D.Luffy but there are other reasons i cant explain because i dont know. this is riding on an “if” so this is good enough. but she endgame material.
sanji - this can happen any where here on out. like they may find it hidden near elbaf , they may find it as they approach raftel , or raftel may be in a place like the all blue because next to no one has found it, maybe roger but we dont know yet. its definitley exists because if you think on a meta level its plot of one of the prominent characters. so yeah definitely endgame or near endgame.
chopper - so basically oda likes do his stuff in 3′s. haki - 3. ancient weapons - 3. and chopper’s been dealt with caesar’s bullshit for the 3rd time. first time was in punk hazard with the candy, second time was in zou with the gas and now the 3rd time with SMILE fruits side effects. his goal to be the best doctor who can cure any disease is relative. but if he does manage to CURE PEOPLE WHO CANT LITERALLY EXPRESS THEMSELVES, then he’d atleast in my book would  be the greatest doctor there ever was. also the upcoming  war has people using biochemical warfare so........ yeah goals are relative. (also check out mr.morj on youtube cuz he has a whole video explaining this)
nami - its a world map that she wants to make. if that isnt endgame i dont know what is. also shes our resident best navigator of the seas so that happens as the journey goes on.
and now we reach the guys who could achieve their goals when wano ends
zoro - wano is his arc. he has the sword that could cut fcuking kaido. wano is promising to draw out more potential from the strawhats than any other arc has ever done in terms of strength. so when this arc ends hopefully he is stronger than ever. his goal to defeat mihawk and take the tittle of the best swordsman can happen right after defeating kaido and big mom. but when wano is done our boiii will be ready™.
usopp - if you think we aint going to elbaf you’re missing out buddy. its been built up since the OG 5 made the barrel promise, since little garden, since the ennies lobby giants , in dressarosa. usopp wants to be a brave warrior of the seas, like dory and brogy, like the honorable giants from elbaf, like his father Yasopp who he seems to have a lot of respect for. he wants to be like, and as his journey goes, surpass them maybe. i hope they do go to elbaf and i hope they find shanks and crew there because theres a lot of clues that point that the red hair pirates are there  (again go and watch mr.morj’s elbaf video.even  if you think its unlikely its a good fcuking video)
luffy - his promise or condition to return the hat to shanks was that he would be a great pirate with a crew as strong as his the next time he meets him. when wano arc ends it will be for the better because either only kaido gets defeated or both kaido and big mom get defeated (2nd one is wishful thinking but holding on to it). either way when luffy and co defeat both of the yonkos he’d really have made it as a great fcuking pirate. taking down two yonkos isnt a small thing. he would have met the prerequisites to return the hat. again, luffy’s goal is to become the pirate king which to him is having the most freedom on the sea. luffy is endgame but his promise can be fulfilled if he manages to defeat both of the yonkos and maybe if you still wanna push then the hat can be returned after luffy and shanks duke it out in a mano-e-mano. but if this does happen one of luffy’s goals would have been reached.
that is all. if you liked what you read and it made sense, idk. go eat a apple or something. but congratulations if you made thru this long ass post. didnt expect to write this much. what can i say. if this clears your minds and helps you straighten some of the ideas that you had rolling in your head then we’ve done our job. peace Y(-.-Y).
