The continuation of dreamworks franchises is such a strange thing. NO ONE asked for them, but they remind of old works and their good sides.

So I opened for myself an AU where Tai Lung accepted that he would not become a warrior of dragon and he and the Tigress being like SIBLINGS

“I can’t wait for Tai Lung’s redemption” y’all. Not every good character needs to be redeemed. Redeeming Tai Lung would make the point of his character in the first movie just… pointless. He’s cool as hell and you can like him but that doesn’t mean he should be or has to be redeemed. Why do people think he needs to be redeemed just because he is a sympathetic villain ???

Kung Fu Panda 1 would’ve been a lot better if the villain was more complex like the second movie. This is not a unique take.

However.

It could have been a great story about a parent loving a toxic child. We see it in the reverse in majority and of course it makes sense. But I think it would have been really different to see that.

Show Shifu attempting to visit in jail and being turned away. Show sending letters not to receive any back. Yada yada yada.

I know Tai Lung betrayed the monastery and whatever. That is still vital and important and damaging. That part shouldn’t be erased. But many parents still love their children despite doing terrible things. There is an interesting story in that. And in turn I think it would’ve fleshed out Shifu as a character better too.

I’m high and thinking too hard about something that wouldn’t happen in a comedy focused movie. I also don’t think a movie about the “child” being the toxic one in the relationship would sell well. Oh well.

But still. You know. If I wrote it that’s the change I would make.

Shifu fails, not Po

I think my favorite moment of Kung Fu Panda is when Po tries to run away from the temple because Tai Lung is on his way and we see the first argument between Po and Shifu instead of one-sided meanspirited comments from Shifu.

Po is finally pissed at Shifu since he was willing to learn while Shifu just tried to drive him away. Shifu insists that he can turn Po into the Dragon Warrior. But when Po asks him how exactly he intend to do it?

All Shifu can say is "I don't know."

Because it was never Po who was the problem. He was not a bad student, Shifu is the one failing Po since he doesn't know how to teach him.

At All Costs - Collaboration, Part One

While I'm waiting my two friends to finish their homework for my 'At All Costs' Collaboration Challenge in Instagram, I'm just gonna post one of my friends' breathtaking artwork which I couldn't believe this would be the best one so far for both Disney and Dreamworks

(I got the inspiration after realizing your challenge comes to an end. I also watched some videos how some movies like Wish, Kung Fu Panda 4 and etc. could be better and are not worth and how animated studios are only for money now. Which honestly made me disheartened. It's true that those movie are not masterpieces and I agree with critisism of missed opportunities, but now these later days feels like venting out frustration. And it makes a little sad as despite their mediocrity I find them enjoyable (there is always something to enjoy) and I do like characters. Also same for Mickey who is now in free domain. And the song fits perfectly as I want them to protect and show my love. I do believe these movies are just pilots that needs to explore, with time and right ideas for storytelling. Puss in Boots, ROTTMNT, Elemental, even Disney Pinnochio went through something similiar and now there are very loved and accepted. Only thing I want is give these movies and characters a chance to grow and explore as well.

I draw this because I love these characters and I wanted to show my love and protection. Those movies might not be masterpieces, but I still find them enjoyable and I love these characters.

There is also cameo of Jiminy Cricket, Tinker Bell,Poppy and Branch, Oswald, Mickey and of course Nick and Judy(upcoming sequel), plus Rapunzel and Mirabel as allies (blame Hazbin Hotel on that one as Charlie reminds me of Raps and Vaggie is voiced by Mirabel's voice actress

Not wanting to spoil anything, I will say three things:

Awesome!

Better than the third one.

A shout out to furries everywhere.

Something about Tai Lung's death bugs me.

Later, over breakfast:

Shifu: So Po, tell me all about it. How did you defeat Tai Lung? And is he safely back in prison?

Po: (beaming with pride) No master, I used the Wuxi finger hold and obliterated him. He's gone forever!

Shifu: (horrified) YOU DID WHAT???!!!!

You KILLED HIM? You said you defeated him! I never taught you to KILL anyone! The good guys can't kill their enemies in this kid-friendly film! We never actually use the forbidden Wuxi finger hold on anyone! And he was my adopted son! I'll never ever get to see him again or get to hope that he'll repent and turn good!!

Po didn't kill Tai Lung in self defense. He wilfully executed the Wuxi finger hold on a weakened TL 🤯
