Kirbytober Day 24: AU

'Wilting Hope'

This lil AU idea started out focusing on Sectonia- or more accurately Joronia in this case. Then it spiraled into an AU idea where Nightmare won, and all of Dreamland/ Popstar would suffer from an eternal nightmare, and most villains end up winning + some roles reversed and/or changed.

Joronia here was gifted the Dark Mirror instead... but she rejects the gift from Taranza. Little did she expect the mirror to then steal away Taranza himself...! And now she's on a search for him and that blasted mirror.

Not sure if I'd use Keeby here... idk feels a bit mean when they've already been in Dreamcourse with Kirby. The general idea tho is that Keeby struggles to fight back the evil forces... Dark Matter takes over as well, possessing Dedede.

Parallel Susie here joins Joronia's efforts to fight back the evil forces... with her own selfish goals in mind. Since she's foreign to Popstar, she is unaffected by the eternal nightmare. That being said... she's taken over the Haltmann company, still with Star Dream intact. What happened to her father though...?

That's as much as I have though, I haven't thought about EVERY character of course! Also I'm using the name Joronia here in this AU, so its separate from the main Kirby world. A fun way to use the unconfirmed name.

tbh i’m close to leaving too but i stick around for a couple friends still there // i’m in the same boat right now. literally, i have two friends in connect who refuse to check out other directories, so i log in sometimes to talk to them. ;; but my other friends? yeah, they’ve gone elsewhere and i don’t blame them. the other person said it’s not like the members are bad people and i agree, but they’re really just… in their own world? i guess? even places like otm, which has about the same amount of dash activity at the moment, has better vibes over all.

to the op who asked how connect was, it’s not horrible, but it’s not great. it’s just there. you’ll have to work harder to get conversation going, and even then? there’s no actual guarantee the members will make an effort to talk to you. with muns getting busier this time of year too, it’ll be harder than usual. if you’re looking for at least a little more activity and mutual effort in convo, try somewhere else, like otm and ink. even though some people are complaining about dahlia’s activity requirements, it’s still worth checking out if you feel you can meet them. even dreamcourse and tokki seems alright, but i have no experience with them.

ranboo is a gamzee in terms of fandom impact, in terms of personality and story role i'd say he's an aradia. w dream i think he's a vriska in fandom impact (the vriskourse...) but personality/story he's like, caliborn, probably? uh. no not caliborn but i dont know who. actually maybe just vriska again

disclaimer i have not read homestuck since like 2018 and also treat the dsmps story with the same seriousness as a big self insert fanfic.

I would contend that Dream is also Vriska in a story sense! at least in the way that he does a lot of shitty things as a manifestation of like, deep set issues. Both Dream and Vriska eventually commit to the villain bit because that’s what people see them as, and seeing their track record they might as well. Plus additional baggage etc etc. Caliborn is just kind of a shitty person because he’s a dickhead (and the impact of species/culture). And Vriskourse is SO like Dreamcourse. so much.

On Ranboo and Gamzee: If it were 2013 people would ABSOLUTELY headcanon enderwalk!Ranboo as murderous/violent and romanticize the hell out of that. Which would basically set Fanon Ranboo as the inverse (or same?) as canon Gamzee.

Gonna ramble a bit about some games I've been playing- just a few lil things.

I just beat Super Metroid for the first time ever lmao, I stopped playing it ages ago- but didn't really realize I was near the end already. Game was tough, i dont like playing it on the switch, all the controls are mapped so oddly for me and that tiny ass select button makes it a nightmare 😂 Not my fave in the series, maybe I'd like it more if I was playing with a SNES controller.

Played more of Kirby Superstar too- just about to do the Milkyway Wishes so I can finally kick Marx's booty. The game overall feels so frustrating to play tho- sometimes feels like theres too much going on for me to focus or its just l a g. Also found a glitch that put me in an endless loop lmao.

Had a go at Kirby's Dreamcourse too after going back and watching good ol bloody Game Grumps play it- I never watched it back then cos I wasn't into Kirby at the time- so now i wanna binge all the kirby that i missed. Game is very fun honestly, I can see myself playing it quite often.

I had a go at Triple Deluxe's true areana after a year of not playing it, and I got to the final boss but died lol, hammer i-frames ftw. still not gonna try Robobots tho that ones too brutal for me 😔

Now im just casually waiting for Tears of the Kingdom to come out... and idk ask Hal nicely for another little kirby game since they've been spoiling us so much haha!
