North Street Book Prize WINNER
Been hiding this secret since January. Blackwax Boulevard has WON the 2019 North Street Book Prize in Graphic Narrative. It's the first year for the new category and I'm so humbled they chose my crazy idea of a comic as their first winner. Plus the cash prize is a nice cherry on top. 😂🏆 #comics #webcomics #musicjunkie #winningwriters #northstreetbookprize #artistsoninstagram #bookawards

Sneak peek at finished cover for upcoming book. For fans of Blackwax Boulevard, hopefully you’ll be fans of the comic I did before BB. I fashioned Marty’s Diner (2009-2011) to be “Crash meets Napoleon Dynamite meets Cheers.” Didn’t last as long as I hoped but I felt the time was right to revisit the project. I plan to debut this book in time for the St Louis Small Press Expo this October. But it should also be available on Amazon by then as well. Stay tuned!

Thanks for the shout out, Kevin!
I’ve only ever had one “intern,” and that was many years ago now. Anyways his name was Dmitri Jackson—check out his comic “Blackwax Boulevard” on Tumblr.
“Blackwax Boulevard is a slice-of-life look at an eclectic group of record store clerks and the strange customers they must endure, while trying to keep their struggling store open for business. See nerds, punks, metalheads, teenyboppers, bohos, hobos and every music lover in between explore life, pop culture and the eternally dusty record bin. Updates every Monday!”
