sapnap, impulse, and grian have a video together discussing something that should be discussed more
Here's some lore dump on why sapnap and impulse are together and why they are wearing the same outfits:
Impulse and sapnap are dragonkins or dragonmen (humans that are half dragonborns and obviouslyhalf human) and belong to a kingdom called kinoko kingdom (originally from dsmp lore itself) where other humanoids live but dragonkins are known to be the main guards and enforcers of kinoko kingdom. They are known to be spiritual hunters who hunt spirits mainly due to the type of area the kingdom is set in, which contains and holds a lot of spirits or is a place that is close to a gateway to the spirit realm (also known as the outer realm). Impulse and sapnap are high class and hunt the big and dangerous spirits, and their the more experienced ones amongst others like them, especially during the great collision war
More will be posted of ypu guys want any more lore and even backstories of mcyts in the mavericks series!

I have a thing for #dragonmen and THIS scene of #RRR, because it's EPIC. And the only way to make it more epic, was by adding Dragons, of course! And #Ramaraju being a #Firedragon and #Bheem being a #Waterdragon was just... well, obvious. Duh! So enjoy this for #fanartSunday!
Also, for the fans of the #Drrragon!Verse, yes, this is how Bheem looks half shifted (Even if in this scene his tail and wings hadn't come out yet in the fic) and I will have more surprises for you in this 'Verse (and... dare I say, and adjacent one) Soon!

Species (wip)
There are quite a few creatures in Ardenia, and they are classified into one of three groups: Humans, Fae, and Godspawn. There are also halflings, which are just half one species and half another.
~~~
Humans are by far the most common in Ardenia. Most are just like the next, however they are not restricted with any one type of magic. They are also the only ones able to be affected by the Deathless Curse.
~~~
There are also Fae. Speaking of them, when we say 'fae' it's not just one species, but rather dozens of different species of intelligent creatures. Some, like elves, look remarkably like humans save for a few features, and others, like dragons, do not.
Here is a list of the different Fae in Ardenia, and their Primary and Secondary Magicks
Elves: Humanoid creatures that have elongated pointy ears, they are taller than the average human, they can live for hundreds of years. Their innate magic is Emotional Glamor
Dark Elves: They look as if they are shadows: black bones and hair, dark eyes, wispy and fleeting. Secondary Shadow magic
Sea Elves/Merfolk: (man do u not know what a mermaid is bro wtf) Secondary Water magic
High Elves: Basically just humans with long ears. No secondary magic
Moon Elves: Pale hair, greyish skin resembling the moon. Secondary Foresight magic
True Fae: All true Fae have innate Glamor. It is much more powerful than other Fae.
Fairies: Shorter than humans, shimmering insect wings and facial markings to match. Partial Physical Glamor, secondary magic varies.
Pixies: Incredibly tiny, humanoid creatures that have fairy-like wings. Come in all colors. Are birthed from gemstones and ores. Sound Glamor
Shapeshifters: (in progress)Pure Physical Glamor
Nymphs: Forces of nature personified (on a smaller scale— Fire, Air, Storm, etc). Pure Physical Glamor, secondary Elemental magic
Sirens: (in progress) Sound Glamor and secondary Emotion Glamor
Wingborn: Fae that somewhat resemble birds. Their Glamor is mostly Sound based
Harpies: Shorter than humans, feathery everywhere, clawed feet and no secondary magic
Aasimar: Akin to angels— bright, winged creatures that glow as they are made of light itself. Primary Sound Glamor, secondary Light Magic
Avariel: Typically the same size as humans on average, however they can shapeshift into a bird. Pure Physical Glamor, secondary Sound Glamor
Dragons: Lizard-like creatures that have secondary Fire magic
Dragonbloods: Scales, tails, and occasionally horns. Primary Glamor and secondary fire magic
Dragonmen (n women but ye): (in progress)
Clawborn: Fae with specific animal features. Their Glamor is also Sound based, and they all have secondary Earth Magic.
Tabaxi: Cat-like people, primary Partial Ohysical Glamor and secondary Plant Magic
Firbolg: Cow horns and tails, along with hooves, primary Emotional Glamor and secondary Plant Magic
Snakefolk: Half man, half snake, primary Sound Glamor and secondary Stone Magic
Centaurs: half man, half horse, idk yet
~~~
Godspawn, like the name suggests, are believed to be created by the gods themselves. They are by far the rarest creatures to come across in Ardenia, and even then most of them are halflings. There are:
True dragons (the ones recounted before are not like these)
Starborn
Reapers (invisible to all but Stars, True dragons, and occasionally, Deathless)
Tieflings (highly disputed--normally organized with Fae), primary Soul Seeking and occasionally secondary Foresight
Stars (almost never seen--they allegedly live high in the stars, beyond even the homes of the Avariel)
The Eldrich
Most creatures not defined by the above are considered Eldrich, like sea serpents, demons, and phoenixes
Ruth's hatching and Impression, with the assumption that he would not live long, must have been fucking awful for Lytol, especially so close to Brekke also losing her dragon and almost dying about it. Imagine losing your dragon, and subsequently a part of your mind- a companion who literally shares your mind with you. You eventually scrape a life together for yourself out of the nothingness that is your head now, and, woah, you get granted temporary rule over a hold and also: a free son! You love this kid a lot, he means the world to you. He has a really bright future ahead of him, and a title that you've got a lot to do to prepare him for. And then he goes and Impresses a dragon that everyone is almost certain is going to die, very soon. He wasn't even supposed to be on the sands, he's quite possibly not even old enough to be Searched, and now he's going to go through the same thing you went through, the same thing that has claimed the lives of countless adult dragonmen, and you're going to have to try and get him through that. I would have also gotten incredibly drunk. Good job to Ruth for living and growing up sooo big and strong :) well maybe not sooo big but that's ok
Slightly more normal doodles from me. But still on my TotK brainrot, I guess.
Halvah is dressed for once?! Plus her mother before death and not poe state. But this is why, as a ghost, she doesn’t manifest her whole body because she’s actually fucking huge. Gerudo-size but no Gerudo blood. Just a big mommy. I call her Bhumitra because she must have earth reference. Earth mommy.
Very strong, very big spiritmage/ghostmancer. All the women of the Bargainers are especially gifted.
I didn’t write about it much because Bhumi got silenced early on, but she is not happy seeing Halvah get manhandled by the Black Forest ham. Even if sexy (for all the wrong reasons)~
Finally, totk dragonoids. This lady off of Reddit trying to get me to draw rabid Zelgan and dragonmen and I thought… well let me just return to dragon antics first… people be sleeping on the multiple arms. Zelda can still be hot with more arms.
At unspoken orders, all the dragons rose with a great churning of air and dust. F’lar strode nonchalantly past the welcoming files. The men were rolling their eyes in alarm as the beasts glided above to the inner courts. Someone on the high Tower uttered a frightened yelp as Mnementh took his position on that vantage point. His great wings drove phosphoric-scented air across the inner court as he maneuvered his great frame onto the inadequate landing space.
Outwardly oblivious to the consternation, fear, and awe the dragons inspired, F’lar was secretly amused and rather pleased by the effect. Lords of the Holds needed this reminder that they still must deal with dragons, not just with riders, who were men, mortal and murderable. The ancient respect for dragonmen as well as dragonkind must be reinstilled in modern breasts.
Have you ever had an argument with Malleus?...Did you win or Did you lose?
Yuu: Pfft! Yeah I have but it's only been 3 arguments really. One was after he overblotted you guys saw how that went we made up (the apology will be shown in a different post I promise! I Swear on my Oreo cookies and you can steal them if I'm lying!). Yuu: One was over me almost getting hurt by a stranger and I told him I could defend myself with or without magic he was proven right after a day or so and he had a smug I told you so face because he saved me for 4 time...So he has 4 saves and I have 1 save. Yes I'm making it a competition don't judge me! ;-;
Yuu: and the 3rd argument where we both came at a draw....was about dragons...Yes you heard me right. I spent 6 hours from 6pm to 12am arguing about dragons. We agreed that Amphiptere, Drakes, Lindworms, Sea Serpent, Worms/Wyrms, and Wyverns. Were lesser dragon. Dragons just weaker, but the part we went full debate bro was with Asian Dragon vs Western Dragon, Superior Dragon vs Transcendent Dragon, and Dragonman (which is what he is) vs Dragonborn. Yuu: with Transcended dragons having 24 variations and then those having variations and superior dragons having 17 (Malleus falling under that) We had to eventually come to a draw. Yuu: it got very heated until we came out a impasse and conceded to both sides of the argument. Although I may have hurt his feelings by saying "some Dragonmen (species) sanity may lose control and act like a mindless beast, if not controlled properly and May not be as powerful as regular dragons." >.>'/// Yuu: I took my words back because I went to far. I was to heated and to mad trying to explaining the differences to him but he's stubborn as a rock at times! Obviously I took it back because 1. He's my friend, 2. Also a very strong exception to the rule, 3! he gave the saddest face I've ever seen and I felt like I kicked a puppy. So I am sorry. And I'm sorry to Malleus FanClub I didn't mean it! I was angry! >.<'/// Yuu: How that argument end was me saying " Okay so I dare you to tell The Yellow Dragon of the Center a Transcendent dragon too his face that he is not a dragon. Same goes for Nuwa to her face she's not one either. Go on I dare you!"...And he had no rebuttal because he knows I'm right and he'd get punished. Yuu: so why yes we fight sometimes but it's rare for the most part and our bond is always strong no matter what and he'll be one of my best friends till I die so yeah. =v='/// Malleus: *teasing/bullying* She's not sorry everyone... she hurt my feelings very bad... ;x; Yuu: HEY! NO! I DID SAY SORRY DON'T LIE! AND I THOUGHT FAE CAN'T LIE!!! AAAHHH!!! >A<'///
I wanna draw a properly fat weywoman and some bear bodied dragonmen because strong people are fat dammit! But I’m tired and bad at fashion. Vague concept sketch I guess. Maybe I’ll draw some more weyrwomen with curves and the kind of arms one would get from carrying full gas canisters for hours on end and caring for a creature the size of a jet.
it's funny that we're told the dragons choose their rider but really it's more like "the dragon chooses from the people made available to it".
And 99% of the time that's boys whose personalities are already alligned with those in charge because women don't have any rights on this planet and if a kid's rebellious against bullshit or disabled or Queer there's no fucking way they'd let him onto the hatching ground.
In The Inheritance Cycle series, the dragons actually choose their rider. They literally will not hatch until they find the right person, even if they have to wait hundreds of years.
But in The Dragonriders of Pern, they literally just have to pick from whichever kids are shoved in front of them when they hatch.
So far Path's the only one who picked from the crowd above the hatching grounds, and Ruth's the only one who had someone come down out of the crowd.
All the other dragons just have to make do with the few options they're given.
And as we know from the first book, the DragonMen™ will go out of their way to pick women they think are hot for the queens to choose from so that they'll get a chance to fuck her later if they're a bronze rider -.-
and then of course you know they just keep those who aren't chosen and make them into servants and their family never learns what happened to them. Like did these fuckers even let the families of the two girls who Ramoth killed know what happened????
"The Littlest Dragon Boy" is meant to be Inspiring™ (which I assume is why they made us read it in English class at one of the many schools we went to) but this kid has literally been destined for this since he was born. How is being born inside the fucking castle with all the privileges in the world and then getting even more rewards on top of it inspiring???
OC Interview: Brennan Draig
Thank you so much for the tag, @blind-the-winds. I really enjoyed reading your answers. I also think the interview style for this was brilliant. I've already did this for myself.
Rules: Answer the following questions for an OC of your choice.
I did something like this many years ago for Cyras, the protagonist of Cold as Ice, and I loved it. It helped me really sink into her character.
I decided to do this with Brennan, the love interest of Flight of the Dragon. Brennan is a 1200-year-old silver dragon who is also one of the rulers a city-state in the Olessan Region.
Please be aware of the following triggers: talks of death. Flight of the Dragon is set in a dark fantasy world, so very dark themes apply to it.
Tumblr media
Knight-Errant Brennan Draig
1. Are you named after anyone?
In the world, Brennan is not named after anyone. I had debated whether he would be named after a relative or not, but ultimately decided that he wouldn't be.
As Flight of the Dragon was originally wrote to be low fantasy and exist on our planet, Brennan was originally written as King Arthur. I got his name from the Irish name Brennan (sorrow) and Welsh word Draig (dragon).
2. When was the last time you cried?
Brennan never cries. He believes that in order to make changes in the world that action is required. This is why he rushes to the cathedral to protect a newborn Alystin and her mother and agrees to train Alystin in martial and ranged weapons in FOTD.
There was one pivotal moment when he did cry. After he confronts Jhaer and his clutch is completely destroyed, he is running on pure adrenaline. The chief god appears before him and tells him that in exchanged for his freedom Brennan needs to fulfill the promise all silver dragons pledged to Amés. He vows to live his life for Amés and free all of the dragon souls that Jhaer is using to fuel her blood magick.
After the adrenaline wears off and he is far away from his castle / lair, Brennan breaks down and cries. He mourns the mate and children that died in Jhaer's siege.
Interesting that Jhaer was originally Morgana from the legends of King Arthur.
3. Do you have any kids?
Brennan lost his mate, Beatrix, and children in the siege let loose by the Enethian necromancer, Ellarian Jhaer. The only ones that are left are the twins named Aldrien and Palar. He sent them away to learn from the golden dragon: Kalzeruth.
He also has one more child who survived the seige named Kanderth. Kanderth becomes corrupted, raised as a great draconic lich, and works with Jhaer. Brennan is the one who lays Kanderth to rest.
He and Alystin will become the mother and father of Flame. They have two hybrid children together. These children are the ancestors of modern men and drakl. Drakl are dragonmen and are at war with men.
4. Do you use sarcasm?
Although he is considered a wise wyrm, Brennan can't help but use sarcasm on occasion. He tries to lead by sincerity, integrity, and candor, but those sarcastic moments tend to shine through when he is dealing with Jhaer or her cult.
5. What's the first thing you notice about people?
The first thing that Brennan notices about people is their eyes. He is fond of saying that the eyes are windows to the soul.
Brennan has a draconic ability that allows him to see auras and determine if someone is friend or foe. This ability is triggered by looking into the eyes of the target. The world around him becomes ghostly grey hues. The Wraith, the anti-hero protagonist from Cold as Ice, has a similar ability from her draconic ancestry. Some could say that this comes from the father of the modern dragons.
6. What's your eye color?
From my notes in Flight of the Dragon.
Brennan Draig has eyes almost the color of silver. When he uses any magick, they will glow a powder blue. His left eye is clouded a dull grey with a darker silver around the outer edge of the iris. A vertical, thick raised scar darts from right above his left eyebrow, runs down his eyelid, and stops at the beginning of his cheek.
7. Scary movies or happy endings?
During the early Age of Men, civilization told sagas instead of showing movies. That technology doesn't exist until the Age of Steam.
Brennan enjoys stories about the great battles his clutch fought and the dangerous journeys they made. These stories were to record and preserve their culture and things that the Elders thought was important for future generations.
With that in mind, he doesn't care one way or the other about the endings.
8. Any special talents?
Brennan has a knack for languages.
As a dragon, he has most of the talents that you would normally associate with an ancient wyrm. He is immune to cold and can exhale a cone of icy air which freezes most of everything it touches.
One of the special talents that he personally teaches his offspring is the ability to use body magick to shift bones, wings, and flesh into a human form or beast. This is a painful process that the dragons tend to either spend their time in human or draconic forms.
Once Alystin becomes his dragon knight, she and Brennan will often share telepathy, pain, and even something simple as hormone changes.
As a dragon, he has impressive flight. He will often tell Alystin to mount him, so they could transverse the world quicker through the skies, but she insists that she would never disrespect him like that as he is not a beast of burden. Brennan loves to soar.
9. Where were you born?
Brennan was born in the northern forests of the Olessa region. These forests are old-growth forests that was inspired by forests in England.
When he was only a young dragon, he was left in these forests and told only to survive. His father thought that this would help him when it was time for him to pass onto the Ven plane. Brennan would take over and rule after that.
10. What are your hobbies?
There are several hobbies that Brennan enjoys. when he was the ruler of Seralia, he enjoyed falconry. He enjoyed teaching the young birds of prey to hunt wild animals for food.
Brennan enjoys reading. There were many times that he could be found in Adwen ferch Afan's library bent over old scrolls and tomes.
With Eternity threatening to end the Planes of Existence, he doesn't have time to practice the hobbies that he enjoyed.
11. Have you any pets?
Outside of his falcons that didn't make it out of Adwen ferch Afan when Jhaer besieged them, he travels with a malamute named Emray.
Emray is Alystin's dog. He stands about 26 inches in height from his shoulder and weighs 95 pounds with a plumed tail that is held over his back. Emray is very loyal to Alystin, even going so far as attacking Brennan after the Huntsman is burned to the ground. However, once he realized that Brennan wasn't going to hurt his master, Emray would become his best friend.
12. What sports do you play/have played?
There were several outdoor games that Brennan would play with his flight. Most of these sports were based on his knights' warrior skills. There were competitions in archery, wrestling, stone throwing, and sword play.
Brennan engaged in running and swimming. They would play a ball game with stick and ball. In other communities, it wasn't uncommon for someone to be hurt or killed, as early Olessans tend to play rough. Women were not allowed to participate in these games, but they would gather and watch their partners.
13. How tall are you?
Human-form
Brennan stands 7 feet 2 inches. He is one of the tallest characters that I have, and his height is inspired by Johann Petursson and André René Roussimoff.
Dragon-form
As an ancient wyrm, Brennan tends to stand 120 feet. He has a 35-foot body and neck length, 50-foot tail, 150-foot max wingspan, and weighs over 640 tons. He is rarely in this form as he knows that it inspires terror in his follows. It actually surprises him when Alystin accepts him.
14. Favorite subject in school?
There are no schools during the early Age of Men. Education was provided through private tutors. Only a handful of early Olessans could afford to educate their sons. This is seen when Brennan sent away the twins to learn beneath the tutelage of Kanderth.
Brennan's favorite thing to learn would be soaring through the heavens.
During Flight of the Dragon, after Alystin asks him about a time he was truly terrified, he recalls to him the first time he spent among the clouds. He was frightened as his wings became slick with dew, sending him plummeting toward the ground. At the last moment, he unfurrowed his massive wings and righted himself at the last moment. He tells her that he could have given up and died, but he pushed forward, as she will have to during the fight with Eternity.
15. Dream job?
Despite railing against his destiny when he was younger, Brennan was always met to follow in his father's footsteps and rule his region. He once wanted to be a poet, a storyteller responsible for keeping the history and tradition of his people alive, but that quickly fell apart when his father was fatally wounded during an assassination attempt.
Now, he wishes to recapture Adwen ferch Afan, unite all of the Olessan region, and have Alystin take her place beside him.
Gender and Sexuality in Mefonzerat
In most of the world, as it is known, pan-normativity and gender equality are the expectation. This is not true of all places and is not always born out perfectly, but it is generally a safe assumption. Below is more detail on both Sewald—the setting of Daarien and Cathra's story—along with Inaytus—where both Daarien and Cathra are originally from.
City-state of Sewald
The dominant group of Sewald—as with the rest of the region surrounding the city—are the Weilpirs Humans. However, with their closeness to the Indramel Free Region, the population of Indramel Elves is very nearly at an even number with the humans, and the half-elves born of unions between Indramel and Weilpir are also a major group, so while the two groups have differences there is a large amount of overlap between their cultures in the city.
Sewald is largely famous across the known world as a haven for queer people who are not safe in their homes, both due to the diversity of the city as a seaport and due to the acceptance of both transgender people and same-sex attraction/relationships. Both are considered normal, and you won’t find any locals who will blink an eye at two men kissing in public, a visible trans person, a masculine woman, or anything else. There is some degree to which tourists can cause trouble for queer locals, but such events are rare and are generally dealt with swiftly by bystanders.
Even in eras where queer acceptance wasn’t as widespread as it is now, Sewald was well-known for being just as it is now. Some propose that this long-standing acceptance is an effect of the intermingling of the Weilpirs with elves, as elves have always been well-known for their acceptance of variance in gender and sexuality to an extent their neighbors rarely match. Others will say that it is simply because Sewald has never had any nobility, originally being ruled by the wizard who built their canal system before they created a council of their students to rule the city in their stead. So, while magical aptitude does run in families, there has never been the same pressure on the rulers of Sewald to sire heirs, since their successors will be picked from the best of the graduates from the city’s magical academy. It is far more common for a council member to treat their apprentice as an heir in the way that nobles treat their children.
Due to the permutation of magic use culturally in Sewald, it has for longer than anywhere but Jaslele, also been one of the leading places for transgender people to transition physically and for couples who can not conceive naturally to be able to do so. Though, since the Eastern landmass that they sit on is one of the most accepting regions for queer people in the known world, most who come only stay long enough to receive the care that no one can provide in their home, rather than fleeing to the city as is common in places in the West that offer the same access to treatment like Tuscomarcel.
City-state of Inaytus
The Natzra of Inaytus—large humanoids often said to have the heads of dragons by those in the North and referred to by them as Dragonmen or Dragonfolk—have never viewed same-sex attraction/relationships or transgender people as being aberrant or as anything other than perfectly normal. However, while relationships between any consenting adults aren’t questioned, marriage is not viewed as being about love, but rather for the creation of eggs to create more Natzra.
Approaches to marriage and eggs vary by family, and the experience that someone who is attracted to only one gender or who is uncomfortable with the way that their body naturally interacts with the creation of eggs has when they come of age is largely individual.
Culturally, marriages must be consented to by all parties involved, so in theory, it isn’t possible to force someone into a marriage they do not want. However, it is also not uncommon for families to use manipulation, punishment, or the simple wearing down of a young person to make them claim to be consenting to a marriage. In these situations, it’s also not uncommon for someone who finds the expectations of marriage unacceptable—ie. a transgender man who experiences significant dysphoria from the idea of laying eggs or a lesbian whose parents are insisting on a political marriage with a man she doesn’t want to sleep with ever—to leave their home, often ending up becoming mercenaries or adventurers in nearby nations due to the widespread combat training that most adolescents receive.
However, due to the widespread acceptance of transgender people, and the commonness of matchmakers who at least want some level of sexual compatibility in spouses, while those situations aren’t uncommon and need addressing, most Natzra find themselves perfectly capable of marrying within their sexuality. The more common issue to come up is for transgender people to feel dysphoric about the role they’re expected to play in the creation of eggs, due to a cultural distrust of heavy magic use and the resultant lack of magical transition care.
Extra-marital relationships are also generally accepted, though often not spoken of directly in public, so long as the paternity of eggs is never brought into question. Marriages are not viewed as exclusive romantic relationships by default, but rather as political alliances. In some cases, paternity isn’t questioned simply through ignoring the possibility, and in such cases, while Families do not have access to these children, often the other person will treat any children their lover has as if they were their own socially. In cases where Families are struggling with numbers, however, they will often be less blind to possible paternity like this. In such cases, either more discretion or avoiding any activities that could result in a child is needed, just in case elders try to get involved.
For those outside the nobility who belong to no Family, this all still exists, but often with less pressure. Common folk are more likely to pretend to drag their feet on marriage for children who do not want the associated expectations until they’re considered to be too old. There are even some nobles who will do the same for their children, but often with greater social risks involved.
While transgender people are largely accepted and supported, and the same is true of non-binary people, there is not the same cultural knowledge of non-binary people as there is of binary trans people. It is not uncommon for a non-binary Natzra to originally come out as binary transgender, and among those who do while some find living like that better than living in their birth gender others end up uncomfortable in the gender they transition to as well, and will spend a great deal of time moving back and forth between man and woman trying to do one "right".
There are also some who are able to come to understand their gender as outside man and woman on their own, and while they're not always immediately understood by those around them, they are generally accepted. As more and more non-binary people figure out their gender and begin to live as themselves, more and more other non-binary people who have already transitioned as transgender men and women can also figure out their own genders by learning that there are other options, and can begin to live as themselves as well.
Bordering on the Khanian Kingdom and the Republic of Naihigania, there are humans from both nations living in notable numbers in Inaytus, however because humans and Natzra are unable to reproduce, they are uninvolved in Natzra marriage customs and largely operate the same as in their home nations when it comes to sexuality and relationships. Most non-Natzra who have been settled long-term in the city also have similar views surrounding gender, as Natzra norms are widespread throughout the city.
However, there are many stories of humans and Natzra falling in love, in some cases humans being the lovers of married Natzra and in many other cases—with both groups of humans culturally viewing monogamy as default—the two lovers leaving together to the human’s home where they marry and settle down together.
