✶ DRACONIC GLORY ✶

[ * ARHRRGRGHJRGHRGH this is finally DOOOONEEEEE ]

[ * I've never done such rendering with this method before (painted it and picked the colors by hand in a layer above the sketch/lineart and base color layer) and it turned out SO SO WELL ]

[ * I also wanted to give it a touch of computer-screen-ish-look because that just adds so nicely ]

[ * Took 8 hours in total, drawn on Krita along with a Wacom Intuos S tablet ]

[ * Feels nice to draw my dragon kintype :} i haven't really done a fully-rendered drawing of myself in a while ]

[ * Also a small attempt at poetry... alterhuman poetry.... i don't really write poetry so apologies if it's wonky :P but i'm personally happy about it! ]

Our dad, knowing nothing about our plurality *or* alterhumanity as far as we know: “Have you ever considered that you’re a dragon?”

Raie, a dragon fictive who identifies as a dragon therian, stuck alone in front and unable to lie: “I mean, I am, but how does this come up?”

Dad: “Well, if you sneeze and it knocks the paint off the wall, y’know…”

Raie, heart having started beating again: “Fair enough, I guess that would be true. I wasn’t going to disagree with you, I just needed context for how this came up”

Dad: “True, you always need your dragon to be in on the joke, don’t you?”

…

I mean, very affirming in an accidental fashion, but how on earth??? That was so weird. Neither I nor Miriam if I was able to front-trigger her can intentionally tell lies, so it’s not like I could say no, but also he wasn’t aware of any of the things that make me actually identify as a dragon, soooooo… glad we were able to play that one off as just playing along. Mom knows *about* therianthropy, though not our experience as such, and Dad’s certainly never heard of it in his life. Definitely very weirdly affirming though, lmao. 🐉🐉🐉

So I ended up getting those gardening claw things I saw floating around a little while back, glued them to a glove and they are SO affirming!! I’m going to edit them a bit, probably dremel them down so it’s easier to bend my fingers, and sharpen them a lot, but it’s a good start and damn does it feel right

Not adult by a lot, but in here we have a

dragon therian (theriomythic if preferred) (protector/co-host)

just straight up a guinea pig

an owlin (owl-person d&d species)

a label-questioning guinea pig something or other. She’s not sure if she’d be described as therian, -kin, or -hearted, but she’s something. (host)

We also have at least one in here who is actually human, though not sure because we haven’t been able to ask them properly. Miriam (the guinea pig [insert suffix here]) is human in headspace after all. Either way, this system has very little going on that would be categorized as human.

does anypup else really like snapping your teeth? and like,, cobbing and all that stuff? i cannot stop snapping my teeth whenever i feel shifty and it's irritating cause my teeth aren't right and also my mouth isn't big enough and ALSO my muzzle isn't long enough and i should definitely be able to flick my tongue but i cant

Okay can alterhuman Tumblr do its thing and properly explain to me what it means to be otherkin CAUSE EVERYONE IS SAYING SOMETHING DIFFERENT

I learned that, being otherkin means to identify as a nonhuman being that does not act in an animalistic way, for example, an elf, or a mermaid!

Someone can be dragon otherkin, meaning that they identify as a dragon with a more human mindset, maybe like Smaug from "The Hobbit"! If the dragon has a more animalistic mindset, the label "theriomythic" is commonly used instead

Is that true tho?? I see a TON of people calling themselves otherkin, when I've been told that the definition "theriomythic" would be much more accurate

Slightly different for us because we’re a system, but I’m a gigantic dragon that can roar using sound waves that kill people (Temeraire), and yet if the girl who’s guinea pig kin is blurred with me, I feel very much like one of those tiny little pet dragons people draw curled around people’s shoulders that squeak and pester you to go get their food now. Like, Pern’s fire lizards basically. So yeah, I think I can relate. I am not a fire lizard, nor is Miriam, but the two of us together average out to make approximately a fire lizard. I can absolutely imagine that working similarly in a non-plural context.

Anyone else with multiple kintypes ever have that thing where they sometimes merge together?

For example: I am a bird, but I am also a ghost (as my fictionkins are ghosts, by being them, I am one), and these experiences occasionally make me feel like a taxidermy bird. (Being a natural history museum also comes into play here.)

The feeling is not constant, and I do not consider myself a taxidermy bird, but my kintypes sort of interact with each other in a way that makes me feel like one.(?)
