#dragon age 4 for blacklists

Well my resolve to wait a few months before buying DA4 cracked. Since I'm home sick today I thought it might be fun to play this evening. Unfortunately I forgot my internet is terrible and it's going to take 24 hours to download, lol

let's talk a lil bit about the new Thedas Calls teaser and the new blog post, in relation to revisiting the DA:D leaks from around 10 months ago (potential DA:D spoiler warning for those last 2 links, as well as for under the cut below):

(I won't be posting the images and gif themselves from that leak here, not directly. here and here are some previous posts of mine talking/speculating about those leaks so that I don't repeat myself too much. and here is my DA:D spoiler tag in general in case it's of interest to anyone to browse or anyone wishes to blacklist it. also, the usual set of disclaimers that accompany all leaks applies - might not be real, unable to verify, games change a fair bit between development phases and final release, take with grain of salt etc).

okay, so really in this post I am just looking to tie the new teaser&blog info with that leak.

the new teaser indicates Weisshaupt as a location we'll be visiting in DA:D, seeming to confirm the leak, which shows the possible Player Character, Rook, and their companions including Davrin fighting through Weisshaupt ("Weisshaupt" can be seen in the top right text).

the new teaser implies something bad has happened to Weisshaupt (see bottom paragraph in that post) and when the 'Speaker 2' Warden character speaks their line, we hear the roar of battle, a battle cry, the clang of weapons etc. I wrote elsewhere that Speaker 2 (who insists that Wardens don't hide in their castle, they fight)

sounds like a hardened fighter, a seasoned commander. he is speaking when he’s about to be attacked, or in a pause in battle

and in the leak, text shows that Rook has the objective "Defeat the darkspawn", and shows them fighting through Weisshaupt in combat with darkspawn. this is not the worst of it however - per the dialogue there's "worse than darkspawn on the way", and the walls won't hold it back. we see Rook fighting what looks like those red lyrium-affected darkspawn creatures. Could the thing that is worse and on the way be the cause of the "tremors in the Anderfels" described in the blog post, or one of the "risen gods" mentioned in the teaser? I feel like if you squint, in some of the images from the leak, there looks to be the silhouette of a great beast in the background, maybe a dragon.

this location in the leak, also noted as Weisshaupt, looks to be this location from the teaser, just from a different angle/position on that 'level'. it has the same night-time, lighting, dark atmosphere, rocky cliffs, cloudyness, ruined buildings/structures, ominous feel, vaguely green tint etc.

the blue dome in that location also seems to show up as an asset in the Rivain segment of the teaser.

apart from the red lyrium darkspawn, the red lighting here in the leak (and potentially the reference to "Spawn Boils"), as well as the ominous spreading tendrils in the leak images in general, bring to mind the red lyrium-esque glow in part of this shot from the teaser.

the leak describes Rook as a "Level [x] Grey Warden" - interesting considering the prominence of Grey Wardens as a highlighted faction, locale (via Anderfels and their HQ), 'Warden Speaker' in the teaser and all. (remembering also the speculation that Warden is a potential background of some kind for the PC)

I also wonder if the big door with griffons on it in the leak is what looks to me like a door/gateway covered by the suggestion of red lyrium in the teaser. I feel like if you squint you can just about make out the pattern of the engraved griffons' wings on it, or those rayed lines from the bottom half of the door. (or is this just me seeing things hh?) in the leak the characters are trying to hold the door shut and there's no red lyrium on it. I guess they fail and it becomes tainted by red lyrium and destroyed/grown over or something, or the dragon etc that I presume they're trying to keep out, does end up busting through, with the walls around it becoming destroyed too. (easily done by a dragon, magic, red lyrium or stuff magic-warping bc of Fade shenanigans etc)

According to sources that spoke to Tom Henderson's Insider Gaming, "It’s understood that you’ll be able to move from your hub to missions by passing through a mirrored portal." I know the games have always had Fast Travel all over Ferelden as in DA:O or all over Ferelden and Orlais as in DA:I etc. and it's a game, so you don't really need an explanation for jumping around travel-wise due to gameplay-story segregation. the mirrored portal obviously sounds like an eluvian though and to tie this to the new teaser, with so many different locales shown across vast swathes of northern Thedas - Anderfels, Tevinter, Antiva and Rivain at least - I have to wonder again if the PC and their companions are travelling around these many different countries and across such distances via eluvians. I wrote elsewhere,

moving from a hub to missions through eluvians was exactly what we did in Trespasser from the Winter Palace, and it worked really well. Trespasser’s setup was really enjoyable. it was a fun mechanic that helped explain fast travel and apparent teleportation. it also allowed for travelling to places all over, from the Deep Roads to ancient elven ruins to places in-between the waking world and the Fade - a variety of handcrafted places to explore still but with a tighter storyline threading through them, as opposed to open-world that felt like it was probably mandatory to include during development because of other games on the market like Skyrim and AC, but which then struggled to be filled with meaningful content to fill the space and in which that struggle was apparent. I’d be down for that. I’m just daydreaming and speculating wildly now for real (bc it’s fun) but we could travel all over Thedas that way. We did that in [previous DA games] I know but you know what I mean?

at the very least from the new teaser we now know we're travelling to at least 4 different nations in DA:D. :>

Some leak-text on Reddit also accompanied the gif and screenshots from the leak. it again mentioned the darkspawn attacking Weisshaupt. as I wrote at the time, this "explains why Weisshaupt looks wrecked", now it seems like we are also seeing this in the new teaser (wrecked Weisshaupt). it seemed to confirm the influence of red lyrium also, mentioning that some of the enemy darkspawn "have red lyrium attacks", and confirmed the attacking dragon. I wrote at the time

The dragon is also Concerning.. like. Darkspawn attacking, with a dragon involved. That sounds like a Blight and an Archdemon. Is this the Sixth Blight? is it a Red Lyrium Blight? I'm reminded of this concept art. also HELLO?

not sure about a 'red lyrium Blight' / 'sixth Blight' exactly per se, but what it reminds me of again is the Anderfels blurb from the new blog,

as in, the contents of the leaks sure sounds like this 'storm of ominous intent that darkened the Anderfels skies' has now struck, and hit Weisshaupt.

In the leak it was noted that

"The objective is to fight through the Darkspawn to get to the library, but as you are doing so there is also a big ass dragon attacking from above. And the dragon creates occasional environmental and traversal hazards. It ends once you reach the library, close the gates, "and then come face to face with the dragon. It appears you are then supposed to try and chain the dragon up, but it ends before the player completes that."

(I said of this, "I guess the big lever we see has something to do with trying to chain the dragon up.") I feel like here in the new teaser we can see some hints of occasional environmental and traversal hazards, like lightning strikes (some dragons have lightning / electricity abilities right? like Vinsomer from the DA:D codex they shared with us), broken bridges and different places where we might have to jump to, hang from, or climb onto etc (and the leak had also mentioned that jumping returns). I also feel like, perhaps the ring-things in that shot from the new teaser have something to do with the chain-system mentioned in the leak, where it seems that you're supposed to then try and chain the dragon up. the leak also said that

"Basically, buildings and whatnot are all modeled and textured but the skybox itself is very dark and makes it seem as though the entire fortress is underground, although it is clearly not. I suspect the skybox could contain some giant world event, similar to the Breach, they hadn't finished."

given that in the new teaser Weisshaupt still looks dark, it seems like this was intentional? and likely due to the attack on the fortress and whatever giant world event may be appearing in the sky[box] that was theorized to being something similar to the Breach (and in that concept art of Weisshaupt).

He could still hear the whistling of her dagger as she flipped it between her hands, waiting for…what? If she’d been told to kill him with flair, or humiliation, she’d just had the perfect opportunity and done nothing.

Well she did say…

“If not to kill me, then what?”

“Oh, I’m just keeping you occupied,” she said casually. “He needed a few minutes of your attention divided.”

“He?”

“That would be me.” Lucanis whipped around as someone new spoke, concerning but also not for the familiar Antivan accent that wrapped around his ears. A black-cloaked elf that could only be Zevran Arainai pulled the cord of the curtains and light flooded back into the room. “Shall we put our blades away and have a civilized conversation? I believe we were invited.”

“You were.” Lucanis pointed to the other elf with his chin. “I have no idea who she is.”

The dagger vanished from the elf’s hands and she hooked a thumb in her belt, holding her cloak back from the badge pinned there. Lucanis sheathed his sword.

“Of course,” he murmured. “Warden-Commander Tabris.”

Ariya let her cloak fall back over the badge. “I don’t really use that title anymore.”

“It is mighty useful in tense situations, however,” Zevran said cheerfully. He swept out a chair and gestured for Lucanis to sit. Grumbling, he retrieved his now lukewarm coffee and joined the elves at the table.

“Took you long enough to get here.”

Now that he wasn’t actively targeting them, Lucanis got a better look at the former Crow and the legend he called a lover. Both were strapped with weapons, as he would have expected. There were the obvious: the catch of her cloak on the hilt of her sword, his daggers strapped flashily on his belt. And there were the more subtle: a hilt all but hidden at the lip of her boots, stiletto blades tucked into her plait, throwing daggers nearly invisible at his wrists.

They’d come prepared. Or they just always traveled with a small arsenal. He would, if he was doing what they had been doing.

Their faces were lined with age and the kind of stress that only sat on those charged with holding the world together. But there was laughter written there too, and love. When they moved, they adjusted to each other naturally, automatically, covering each other’s blind spots without a second thought. Not just covering, Lucanis noted, gaze lingering between the elves. Tabris was actually sitting in Zevran’s blind spot, and he seemed even more relaxed for it.

Blind trust. Lucanis had never given it to anyone. Knowing the Crows, and House Arainai, he could only imagine what it must have cost this woman to earn it. Unwavering loyalty, at least. And a great deal of blood—others, and hers, most likely.

“Ran into a bit of a scuffle at the border,” Zevran said, smiling until Tabris coughed pointedly. “Yes, yes. If you need to call any covert meetings in the future, do try to avoid Rivain, if you would. But enough of that,” the elf clapped his hands together and both their gaze’s sharpened on Lucanis. “I believe we are here to speak of information. And skills. So what does the great Lucanis Dellamorte want from us?”

“And what does he want in return?” Ariya muttered under her breath.

Lucanis sipped his coffee, swirling it with his tongue before swallowing. There would be no going back, once he spoke. Of course, that was rather the point, wasn’t it?

“I’m going to fake my death,” he said. Only the second time he’d spoken it out loud, and it fell from his lips with finality. “I want you to help me do it.”

My Winx Club Headcanons about My Favorite Characters and Worldbuilding

Now might I remind you that my favorite characters either only appear in comics or you guys hate for not doing shit.

There are 4 roles (or jobs idk) for the male population:

- If you're born with magic, you can be a wizard. Wizards, after their graduation, usually pick another role or spend their life researching magic for others to use.

- If you're not born with magic, you're a human. Humans can get 3 roles or just live to be ordinary people:

Smiths: Smiths make weapons. But not ordinary weapons, they're either very high tech or element infused. High tech weapons are used by specialists, more suitable for smaller missions. Elemental weapons are used by paladins, better for battles and wars. Since smiths know how to use all of the weapons they create, they tend to be a lot more advantageous in fights. Except they don't usually fight.

Specialists: Specialists can start their education at 16 years old and this role is selected by most of the people. Specialists go on small missions to train. Smaller battles. They don't usually train for any upcoming wars, they're usually more on the offensive side. Specialists can ride dragons and use high tech weapons. Most of the time, they don't usually take things seriously. That's why there aren't many specialists on ranked charts.

Paladins: Now, paladins don't do any small missions. These people start their education at 18 or higher due to it being a more mature role. Paladins are like soldiers of Earth, they're basically an army that is getting ready for huge wars. Do they go on missions? If they want to. They usually don't. As a paladin, if you don't take your training or job seriously you're getting blacklisted. Paladins train for 10 hours every day on average, however, the ones that we know of train for more than 15 hours on average (by will). They tend to rank higher on charts due to being more skilled.

A lot of people prefer artists on Earth rather than the ones in the Magical Universe.

There are only 2 people alive that can manipulate the element of Light. Guess.

The only reason that Sky is a dog person is that Thoren is allergic to dogs.

There are 3 ways and 3 ages that you can be selected as a Nymph (or Goddess because they literally have their own Churches)

If you're directly chosen by the Great Dragon (impossible now that he's kinda... dead), you are selected at the age of 5. (Shocking. Also this is literally what happened to Daphne, Tetis and Politea.)

If you're chosen by another Nymph to replace them, then directly approved by the Great Dragon (you can still kind of do that), you're selected at the age of 13-14.

If you're only selected by another Nymph to replace them, you're getting selected at the age of 16. You're also put in a trial with other candidates. (The plot of the Comic Issue 149)

Daphne and Bloom have the age difference of 7.

Sky and Thoren have the age difference of 5 (Thoren is obviously older).

Bloom and Sky have the age difference of 2. (SHOCKING, I KNOW. This is only because I personally want to make Daphne and Thoren the same age.)

Most of the people living in the Magical Universe are born as spirits, in this world, spirits are 2 souls: one of them is your soul (good side) and the other is another soul sent by Upperclouds (Afterlife, in this context, HELL.) as punishment, which the soul acts as your devil on the shoulder. Like Bloom and Dark Bloom.

After they chose younger people to be in the Lightrock Council (around the age of 25-40, 2 gods and their friends iykyk), they changed the law. Right now; rape, sexual harassment etc. are the biggest crimes you can commit, arson is kind of legal and killing your rapist is completely legal; judged by the Lightrock Council.

Tetis (Tetis Astral, a Nymph that was introduced in comic issue 143.), as in charge of criminals in the Lightrock Monastery, introduced executions to Magix. Now she executes many criminals every day, using the help of her sacred spear.

Daphne does not give a shit about any injuries Thoren has or might have after wars or training. He's usually in the hospital once every 2 weeks anyway. She says that he's built like the Mitochondria (the powerhouse of the cell).

Linphea has the least executions out of any planet, not because there are less criminals but because they offer free therapy and rehabilitation. Criminals get handled by the Linphea council and their Goddess, Lady Politea.

Daphne is blind in one eye after an explosion in the Potionology class back when she was still a student. She manages to hide it with the help of lenses.

Thoren has a prosthetic leg after he dropped the Earthquake hammer on his foot back when he was 19 (first week of his first year). The Earthquake Hammer cannot be used on any human being as it will completely shatter the entire bone that it hit.

Bloom's all time favorite movie is Frozen. She says that it reminds her of her family. That's not a good sign.

Daphne wanted to have the Beast of the Depths as support when she was about to begin her Sirenix quest with Politea. She couldn't control it. They hid in a random cave for about 4 hours under the frozen water of Domino.

Miss Faragonda does not know that you're allowed to be homosexual or transgender. Therefore we have no idea if she would be a straight ally or straight up homophobic.

Daphne somehow gained her Enchantix during the fall of Domino (WHEN SHE WAS 8-9?????) but she didn't learn that fact until she was 19. She never transformed before she was 19 so she hasn't seen her own Magic Winx or Charmix form.

Riven has mommy issues. (Probably canon)

Timmy has a huge family and everyone lives very close to each other.

Nex is afraid of rats.

Brandon keeps making Ken jokes. ("I'm Kenough", "Mojo Dojo Casa House", "It was Kenchanting to meet you" etc)

Daphne and all of her friends have performed in at least 2 different musicals before. They all have performed Heathers the Musical before. Therefore they all have a musical ear.

Alfea hosts parties, festivals and concerts every now and then. Everyone and anyone who chooses to can perform.

The Keeper of the Dragon Flame can control their body heat. They can go out wearing tank tops and shorts without getting cold in winter and vice versa.

Daphne and Thoren got engaged on their 12th dating anniversary and 20th meeting anniversary, when they were 28.

Tecna has been, is and will be socially awkward. Just like you.

They (the s6 cast) meet up to go to escape rooms. They ALL get terrified.

The Dragon Flame isn't the strongest power in the Magical Universe.

There are TV shows just like SNL, The Tonight Show etc.

Transformations beyond Enchantix can only be used during specific occasions. Even though Sirenix is the most powerful transformation (due to the strength of people who have it), it's not very useful to fight normally with it. The same goes for the other transformations.

There is an app like Twitter.

It has been normalized to not worship the Great Dragon but the Nymphs instead. It's like worshipping one of the prophets instead of God himself.

You have a public profile that anyone can reach. It also contains your suicide attempt count.

Speaking about suicides, there is a suicide forest where a device scans your mind and if you have a really fucked up life it lets you in. You have about 70+ ways to die there. Yes it's fucked up but yeah.

If you have a very strong power (or if you have mastered many elements), you have to take medicine due to the power being too much to handle for your body and mind. If you don't, you'll slowly lose your sanity.

Tecna has had lasik surgery.

Almost every character that you meet in the franchise has trauma. Like literally, even the ones you hate.

Heyaaa :DD N'awww, first of all, thank you so much!! Honestly, I'd love to get Veilguard solely to make Tamlen in the CC and see if I can age him up and have him look like how I pictured him to look like older, back when it was uncertain still if there'd even be a Dragon Age 4!

But no, hasn't been asked before, at least not publicly on Tumblr xD (and even if, no worries, my asks are always open!)

I am planning to get Veilguard eventually, and I gotta say, I'm very sad and partly also conflicted that I can't play it atm and be there while the hype is big, enjoy it together with friends who have been waiting so long for a sequel xD DA was my big main fandom for so long, and I've loved DA since Origins (as you and a lot of the people who have been following me for a while probably know).

Currently though I'm A) still super invested in Cyberpunk - there is so much I still wanna do and create, and I'm scared that DATV would take up too much of the little time I have to do all that. B) I'm not in the best place mentally atm (just had some stuff happen these last months that dragged me down immensely, and I'm also finally legally transitioning irl - or trying to - and it's been an insane uphill struggle so far, as expected). And all that is also making it hard to find time and enjoy my hobbies like I used to, or doing commissions etc. And that gets me to C): finances are tight and I just can't afford an AAA title full-price right now. I know I don't have it nearly as bad as others and the game is a normal price for a AAA title, but I have necessary car repairs coming up, as well as vet bills, etc etc and in the grand scheme of things it is "only" 70€, but also 70€ I need to put towards these upcoming necessary bombshells on my bank account.

Sorry that turned into such a wall of text, but I guess I'm taking the chance to write a little life update XD In the long run I'm excited to get to know eveyone's Rooks, especially my friends' and long-term mutuals', but currently I have everything DA-related blacklisted to avoid spoilers for as long as possible. (And I hope I can open comms again soon and here as well am more than open to DA-related stuff again, as I've always been, even when I wasn't actively creating much for the fandom myself!)

Good lord I can’t believe it’s the end of the year… which means it’s time to continue this tradition! Also adding a new category this year that includes some of my favorite YouTube channels. Don't know what I would have done without some of those documentaries.

Best movies watched in 2024:

1) Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. I got to see this with my best friend and her wife and enjoy kaiju on kaiju violence together... so that easily put this at my number one.

2) Interstellar 3) Godzilla Minus One 4) Deadpool and Wolverine 5) Avengers: Age of Ultron (yes, this was my first time watching it)

Best shows watched in 2024:

1) Gravity Falls.  Technically a rewatch BUT I legit haven't seen this show in years. As an adult, I feel like I could appreciate all the characters more (Ford my beloved) and was able to delve more into the lore, especially with The Book of Bill.

2) Fallout (season 1) 3) Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc 4) Echo (season 1) 5) The Blacklist (season 1-2)

i’m an inclusionist of all good faith queer identities (yes, that kind too). whatever intracommunity queer discourse you’re thinking of i’m probably pro-inclusion. exclusionists are not welcome on this blog, folks who are looking for answers in good faith, or are former exclusionists are.

i’m an ‘anti’ in the sense that i believe in critical media consumption and am against child pornography. i also believe in holding bigotry, and racism in particular, to account in fandom spaces. i believe dark topics can be explored in fiction, but i also believe romantisization of incest, abuse, pedophilia, etc is Bad. ie. i don’t vibe with uncritical works or works that are straight up pro incest etc. antiantis/proshippers etc are not welcome here for this reason. and since apparently it needs to be said, i also do not believe in harassment or death threats/suicide bait etc. grow up.

Fictive host of a polyfragmented system. Our active roster is pretty small and I'm the only one who fronts frequently, so who knows if anyone else will post here. I hope to post a lot about my experiences with object sentience as well as other mental health stuff, either to vent, as discourse/discussion, or just sharing experiences

TL;DR - ASD, PTSD, DID, Schizophrenia, a whole host of personality disorders, and POSIC tendencies. Safe for all systems, no DNI, I block liberally.

Extended about me and the blog under the cut

We collectively experience object sentience. They don't usually communicate with us, but we see most soft toys specifically as having personalities and sometimes names or lore. A big reason for this is that we're both autistic and schizophrenic. I personally experience it the most vividly, having delusions about our main companions being genuinely alive, as well as them communicating to me via empathetic connection and thought insertion/telepathy.

We also experience age regression as like, a disordered medical thing. It isn't always a bad time, but it is usually involuntary and we're prone to getting triggered during it. We prefer the "anti-abdl/sfwkink/ddlg" type of regressor do not interact with us. We're very sex-positive.
