SHE'S ELEVEN AND BRIGHT-EYED WITH BUSHY HAIR SHE HASN'T YET LEARNED TO STYLE AND FRONT TEETH SHE HASN'T GROWN INTO. Match that with her horrible social skills and she's quickly the butt of jabs from the other students. Though, none bothered her quite so much as Tom Riddle did. He's rude and unnerving in a haughty way that she'd never encountered another child be before, and Hermione dislikes him so immediately and thoroughly that it takes every ounce of self-control in her to remind herself what her mother told her about not letting her emotions get the best of her before she runs away from @slythcrinheir in a huff.

He's a constant in her schooling life. Too cold and calculated to harass her with childish insults the way Draco Malfoy does, but a thorn in her side, nonetheless. And an infuriatingly smart one too, the only one to correct her on the odd occasion she wrong in class or forgets a piece of information he drawls out boredly as if he believes it should be common knowledge. Hermione sits in her chair and stews, biting on her tongue to keep from starting a verbal spar, knowing it would only earn one or both of them detention.

Avoiding him had only been possible for so many years and as they reach the tail end of their years of schooling and his behaviour becomes more suspicious, Hermione finds herself in his presence more as she tries to figure out what he's up to. He takes to goading her when she confronts him, amused at her anger instead of affronted, a challenge ever-present in the depths of his eyes. He's leaving the girl's lavatory on the second floor when she bumps into him and that uneasy speculation flares. Hermione's hand itches for her wand, wonders what curse would fall from her lips as she points it in his direction. A teacher rounds the corner and is heading down the hallway in their direction before she can find out.

It's almost addicting. The thrill of adrenaline that spikes in her veins when they're alone together. Frightening, of course. And her better sense tells her to run, her instinct crying out at the danger, but she supposes she's a little hooked on it. Like muggles who went swimming with sharks or handled venomous snakes, knowing that any encounter could prove deadly. His long fingers circle her wrist to keep her in place and she has the distinct urge to hit him. Not to raise her wand, but to honest-to-god slap him. To imprint his pale cheek with the shape of her hand and leave it stinging. Hermione supposes that no matter how many years she's been a witch, she'd been raised a muggle. Her baser impulses are ignored and she rips her hand from his hold, fleeing the room.

It had escalated before she had known it, going far beyond the limits of their interactions in the past and into unknown territory. He's closer to her than ever, catching her tight within his hold before she can cast another hex. One hand catches her wrist in the same fashion it had months before, rotating unrelentingly until her wand falls to the floor with a clatter, the only sound in the room besides her laboured breath. His other hand is twisted in her hair, forcing her head back so that she's unable to look anywhere but into his wrathful eyes. It's as she'd predicted. Handle venomous snakes long enough and eventually you get bitten.

Favorite character: Hard one but I think I'd go with Arthur Weasley

Least Favorite character: The Marauders. This is more an issue with Rowling's writing, setting them up as shining figures for Harry (except for quiet one-dimensional Wormtail) but then muddling with actions of straight up harrassement and bullying, allowing bullying to happen, later neglectful and selfish behavior. the narrative, even outside Harry's perspective, tries to characterize them as still shining figures, when I think so each individually did makes it so weird how highly every character around them speaks of them. Especially James but maybe he's your typical jock who gets away with harassment, even of his love interest, and the narrative doesn't adress that. *shrugs*

a random thought: Ok, but since when does run know that Malfoy owns a Hand of Glory? He brings it up in the Halfblood Prince, and I couldn't find any indication in the text that Draco actually bought it, let alone letting Ron know that he owns one?

An unpopular opinion: There's a lot of talk how the movies screwed up Ron although I feel up from Order of the Phoenix, Rowling gave Hermoine the emotional intelligence Ron actually had, lowering his intelligence, and basically didn't know how to involve him properly in the plot anymore. Don't get me wrong, I like Hermoine but I have the impression that the books were too influenced by the movie tweaks of making her more charismatic on top of being brilliant and hardworking. Not that becoming more socially competent shouldn't be a goal for her, social inaptness was her biggest flaw, yet that quality was stripped form Ron.

When I started shipping them: Roughly after reading ASOS, at Catelyn clutching the flayed skin of Theon's finger.

My thoughts: It's all about the angst, the friendship that was so genuine, Robb's fatal decision as a king to put his trust in his only friend, the deep, deep regret, the underlying unhappiness of Theon muddling the water between them....

What makes me happy about them: Robb and Theon both actually had no friends in their age. For Theon feeling so isolated, who actually never had a warm home or someone to comfort him except for Dagmer, there was Robb. Someone with whom Theon would actually like to talk about the Iron Islands and personal stories, and one of the few people with whom Robb could be himself.

What makes me sad about them: "Where was I? I should have been with him? I should have died with him."

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: The white washing of Robb's personality. Whereas Theon can be a wreck, Robb is always the eternal, spotless sunshine as in every bland wishfullfillment story. Basically Robb is there to fix Theon.

Things I look for in fanfic: Angst! Robb with a fleshed out personality!

My wishlist: Just for the angst: Theon meets Rickon when he's grown up and Theon is shaken to the bone how similar Rickon looks to Robb. Or worse: If Theon was to marry Sansa, the fact of them looking similiar to wach other leads to unsettling projections on her.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Robb was to marry Alys Karstark who by personality probably would've been good to contrast with Robb's domineering streak and moody moments. The match made in hell, serving Theon's MILF interest in the worst way, Theon and Cersei lives rent free in the back of my mind. No actually, Theon marrying Sansa could've been a likely outcome to secure peace the North and the Iron Islands. (Although, for my dear girl's sake, I hope Theon gains some empathy for women before they ever get married.)

My happily ever after for them: Robb had never sent Theon away, the Red Wedding couldn't have been orchestrated. Even after the Iron Born raid the Northern shore (as it is implied at Theon's arrival, Balon already readied vessels, no matter if Theon lived or not), Theon and Asha can secretly create a treaty overruling Balon's decreet and gain the Iron fleet for the support of the North. Even though Robb and Theon each are to marry a woman, they'd come together as often as they can.

How I feel about this character: He's so funny. Before he was the sheepish, barely noticed archivist of the trio, and at some point he collected girlfriends like Ü-eggs and charms every girl they need to talk to for investigations. Like all the three ???, I like him.

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: None really, although the episodes with the evil psychiatrist give me strong Mrs. Robinson associations.

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: His father. They seem to be on really great terms by the way the way Bob wants to follow him into his journalism career, and is constantly supported by his father during research.

My unpopular opinion about this character: He has a lot of unnoticed qualities which may not be prominently noticed yet flesh out the trio's dynamic quiet nicely. If it wasn't for the amazing dynamic between the voice actors, on paper Bob would've had remained incredibly unnoticable from all the three. It's a fun idea of Fröhlich's to turn him into the one with common sense whereas both Justus and Peter tend to have some sleeping criminal energy in them. (Justus is ready to do a lot of things "for science", Peter has no concept of neither property law nor unpicked locks.) He also adds a lot of human element when talking to clients which Justus and Peter both tend to neglect.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: In one episode his VW beetle gets badly damaged. I demand confirmation of an old timer loving mechanic fixing up the poor thing!

Favorite friendship for this character: Morton, Justus, and Peter, obviously

I can't read anything canon-compliant with him unless it checks off several very specific boxes bc the whole theme of.. young teenage boys being forced to join terror cults to protect their family hits v v close to home for me on a level i don't think people even comprehend but i'm gonna try to not open this can of worms here and Lighten Up a little.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: (does this mean like... a friendship? i like the pansy-theo-zabini group. but also i reallyyy love fics that explore his relationship w his parents)  

My unpopular opinion about this character: i don't think lucius was abusive i think he loved draco a lot. also i get the whole trope of "draco being ashamed of the Mark" but also i don't think he would view it that way, he would view it as a war scar and a sign of what he survived rather than something shameful

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: i would've loved to see some actual interactions between Draco and Harry post-war. also. ALSO. a scene i NEED is Narcissa finding out HARRY POTTER saved her son's life and the Malfoys begrudgingly inviting Harry over for a veeeery very awkward thank you dinner at the Manor while Lucius is wearing a magic equivalent of that prison ankle bracelet thing and Narcissa telling very mean embarrassing stories about Sirius.

best boy. My comfort character, and my imaginary best friend during difficult pre-teen years. Harry will forever be close to my heart.

Harry is not an "unrealistic" victim of abuse lol. His personality is built off of trauma responses and people who know what they are talking about can actually spot it.

Some of the writing in HBP around her is super heavy handed. I much prefer how Ginny is written in OOTP, when Rowling is trying to be subtle with her.

I feel like I don't know him and, as you can see by my fear of "Harry scholars", I have this strange insecurity that he's not my character to play with? He's not my boy like he is yours and other people's.

I've written him in two fics, and 90% of it was about him supporting Draco. The 10% that was actually Harry-centric felt like dipping my toes and not knowing how to go deeper. Sometimes I think I should try to just embrace using him for my selfish blorbo purposes, because he is a fictional character ffs, but it feels disrespectful/not permissible lmao

But also I think it's cool that he's an antipunitivist king wanting to help Voldemort's weird baby soul etc, and maybe we could bond over similar "orphan with toxic caretaker" trauma.

REGARDING J.K. ROWLING —

While we use the world & characters created by J.K. Rowling, All Was Well distances itself from her harmful opinions, especially her transphobia, racism, and antisemitism. We’ve tried our best to remove some of the more problematic elements of her lore on site, and encourage and (prospective) members to do so as well. Goblins are no longer a part of our canon, and house-elves have been freed entirely. All Was Well aims to be an inclusive environment welcoming to all, and we have a zero tolerance policy regarding discrimination, bullying, and other problematic behavior.

THEMES & SUBJECT MATTER —

All Was Well is a 21+ site hosted on Jcink Premium. Our rating is set to 3/3/3 meaning we allow the playing of mature and dark subjects, however, the following subjects are not allowed to be played out on our site: rape, non consensual nsfw content, and pedophilia. We also ask that you mind the triggers of our members as well as keep in mind common triggers, and tag them appropriately when they occur.

REGISTERING AN ACCOUNT —

Before registering a character, please make sure to check our reservations and canons list to avoid any disappointment or misunderstandings. When registering your character, please use the format First Last, with the first initial capitalized. For any spelling errors, please contact the staff to fix it for you!

LIMITATIONS —

Here at ALl Was Well, we assume that you know your own limits and do not take on more than you can chew. There is no limit on the total amount of characters you can play, but only the first four characters are free. After those four characters, we ask that they all have a minimum of five thread posts before you can pick up the next, and so forth. Outside of that, you are not allowed to play more than three major canons total, to ensure they are divided equally between members. We ask that you also do not pick up any characters with close connections to one another, such as playing both Hermione & Harry, or both Draco & Scorpius.

PROMOTING DIVERSE PORTRAYALS —

In order to promote more BIPOC portrayals and gender diversity, the five thread post limit on new characters as referenced above is not applicable provided that the character you pick up is either: black, indigenous (to the Americas, the Caribbean, Australia, Polynesia, Micronesia, and Melanesia), and/or identifies as transgender or non binary.

FACE CLAIMS / PLAY BY’S —

Please make sure to use established public figures to portray your characters, these are people such as actors, models, influencers, and musicians, and should be signed to an official label or agency. Currently we do not allow any faceclaims that are: younger than eighteen, have asked not to be portrayed, are deceased, adult content stars, those accused of either abusive and/or predatory behavior, and those known to be extremely racist and/or queerphobic.

APPROPRIATE CASTING —

When you cast your character, please make sure to keep to keep the following in mind. We use a +10/-10 years guideline for casting face claims in regard to the age of the character they portray, but if your options are incredibly limited (a specific ethnicity, gender identity, etc) we are willing to be flexible with this. However, please message the staff to discuss this first so that we can see if there are fitting options available and sign off in case there are not. We ask that you try your best to keep in mind the face claim’s ethnic background compared to the character. Whitewashing is absolutely not allowed, and we ask that in the case of family connections, you make sure their ethnicity matches as best as possible. We won’t ask you to dive into a face claim’s family history down to percentages, but we do ask that you try to make an accurate casting (i.e. no using Latine and South Asian face claims as biological siblings). Please portray trans / non binary characters and face claims properly. This means no erasing of the face claims identity, and using the proper pronouns. When casting for a trans or non binary character, we prefer the use of face claims that identify as such, but due to the lack of resources, we are okay with cis face claims being used. However, in the case of trans characters, we ask that your face claim matches the gender they transitioned to (so no using a cis man to portray a trans woman, for example).

WIZARDING WORLD DISCRIMINATION —

The wizarding world is very preoccupied with blood politics and the rights of creatures in society, and we find that is enough bigotry for them to deal with. As such, our wizarding world does not include racism, we simply do not allow it to be a thing. When it comes to gender identity and same sex marriage, the wizarding world is also more progressive. Resources are readily and freely available to transition and/or fulfill wishes for biological children, and same sex marriage has been legal for years. There might be some more traditional wixen who still regard this negatively, but it is seen as a very outdated view.

activity & moderation

CHARACTER ACTIVITY —

We have activity sweeps on Discord every month, to check if characters are still participating and have met our requirements. While your focus should always be on real life, we do want to make sure that the site keeps moving and no one is taking up a role they cannot handle. Each character has to have made at least two thread posts that month in order to pass the activity check, and they must post these in the activity check topic on the site itself. If a member fails to meet the activity requirement and has not contacted us regarding a hiatus, their claims will be reopened. The account will be archived for a month before we delete it, and you can contact staff to unarchive it should you wish to reapply. Members can post an absence in Discord if real life is too hectic to focus on roleplay that makes them exempt from this check, and any new members that have been accepted within two weeks of the activity check are exempt from it as well. In order to combat ghosting while having taken characters, we will occasionally check in with members if they disappear for a long period of time without any activity. We also remove members from our Discord if they have been in the server for two weeks or longer without applying / finishing a character for this same reason.

RESERVATIONS —

We allow reservations for face claims, canon names, and occupations. Reservations last a total of seven days after which they will be reopened. The staff offers an extension on reserves of an extra three days, provided you message us before the first reservation has ended. This is to avoid any reservations sitting for a long time without being turned into finished claims.

CHARACTER GRAPHICS —

Don’t forget to add your character’s graphics before submitting them for review. The mini-profile avatar should be 220x450px, the icon avatar is a square image that will automatically resize (but 150x150px is recommended!), and your mood board images should be any square image and will also resize!

SITE MODERATION —

For ease and accessibility, all moderation will happen through our Discord server. We will post announcements, reminders, and acceptances in there, and we have channels to submit finished characters, request topics to be moved or archived, and for thread tags for our members to use. How I feel about this character:  Writing about him/from his perspective has honestly made me like him more. He used to be my least favourite because the sexism schtick sucks, I never found him hot etc, but I've kind of grown to appreciate the performance and see some humour in him. I tend to write him as having grown out of the sexism or writing him as being deliberately provocative rather than actually agreeing with what he's saying, and that makes him more likeable.

All the people I ship romantically with this character:  Quinn, Michael, Chase, Dana - but the latter three only in extremely specific circumstances.

My non-romantic OTP for this character:  Probably Lola, even though they openly "hate" each other.

My unpopular opinion about this character:  He's kind of got Draco Malfoy syndrome in that people tend to think of the fanfic version of him rather than the actual show version where most episodes have him as a villain.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: S4 might have been a bit more salvageable if they'd actually committed more to having his character develop through his relationship with Quinn. Also would have been nice if someone other than Michael had been allowed to (briefly) miss Chase.

My OTP: Quinn.

My cross over ship: Not a ship but I tend to associate him more with Beck from Victorious than Drake from D&J, but unlike Beck he does actually have a personality.

A headcanon fact: What can I say, I started to like him so much more when I decided he was a bratty slut.

001 - MAIN . after the war hermione has a plan. finish her education with a clean sweep of oustandings in her N.E.W.T.S, get a job at the ministy, work her way up the chain until she has some power to do real good in this world. and that's what she does. she works her way up to a top position in the department for the regulaton and control of magical creatures, hoping to better legislation with her special insterest in improving the lives of house-elves. during this time she struggles with the aftermath of the war in her personal life. she has nightmares and ptsd and though optimistic about her work at the ministry, she can't help but feel a little bogged down by how slow the processes are.

002 - AUROR . while her original goal had been to work on care of magical creatures, hermione ends up in magical law enforcement as an auror. she does some field work, however is more preoccupied with the planning and delegating of missions. her post-war struggles hit her even harder in this verse as her work regularly puts her into dangerous situations not dissimilar to her school years.

003 - HOGWARTS . set at any time within hogwarts years, though my preference falls towards it being hermione's so called "eighth year" when she goes back to school after the war in order to complete her N.E.W.T.S while juggling assisting the repairing of the castle and her own ptsd.

004 - WAR . voldemort didn't die in the battle for hogwarts. he was injured and went into hiding, but the war continued into her early twenties. during this time the order of the phoenix continues to fight with hermione in their ranks. how bad it gets is plotting dependent.

005 - UNIVERSITY . an all muggle/no magic au where hermione attends oxford college studying history and politics with the intent of using her degree to enter a career that will help people. while she thrives in her studies, hermione finds herself restless, looking for something to inject some excitement into her life.

006 - HUNGER GAMES (private verse) . when hermione's name is called in the reaping, she must contend with the fact that it's very unlikely she's making it out of the games alive. while smart and brave, hermione is also aware that she is from the poorest district with the worst sponsorships and is no great fighter. however, her acceptance of her death is shaken when she forms a connection with district one's male tribute - draco Malfoy.

Draco Malfoy,

          I don't know whether you remember me, but I am Justin Finch-Fletchley. Though we attended school together we were in very different social circles, and did not interact at all that I can truly remember. Likely by design on both of our parts. Either way I hope life has been treating you well, and you are not finding the upcoming holiday season all too stressful.

Anyway, as I'm certain you can guess I did not simply write you to say hello or make small talk so I will get to business. I have entangled myself in running an upcoming Charity Gala for the Ministry and am in search of people who may be so gracious as to make charitable donations that will be put towards many quality of life improvements for those that work in the Ministry. Particularly those with long unforgiving hours who need those improvements, and the extra money they could put towards having a lovely Christmas with their families. After asking around some people suggested that you might in fact be sitting on quite a family fortune that you are not currently doing anything with.

I am not one to judge, trust me, I understand. However, should you be interested in putting that money towards a good cause please do not be afraid to drop me a line! This is just one in a long line of Charities that I am working on, and if it doesn't interest you I'm sure we can find something that will.

THE   SUMMER   HOLIDAYS   WERE   COMING   UP   AND   TO   SAY   DRACO   WAS   STRESSED   WOULD   BE   AN   UNDERSTATEMENT.   however,   despite   the   overwhelming   anxiety   that   was   strong   enough   to   nearly   cripple   him   internally,   he   looked   as   cool   and   collected   as   a   malfoy   should   always   look.   it   was   the   end   of   fifth   year   and   there   were   exams   and   these   weren’t   just   regular   end   of   term   exams.   fifth   years   were   taking   their   OWLS   and   draco   while   used   to   being   one   of   the   top   students   of   his   year   was   feeling   the   pressure   of   getting   the   perfect   scores,   lest   his   parents   be   disappointed;   and   draco   shuddered   at   the   thought   of   them   being   disappointed   in   him.  

his   anxiety   wasn’t   noticeable   unless   you   really   knew   him   or   paid   very   close   attention   to   him.   it   was   in   the   way   his   hands   twitched   as   he   held   them   out   in   front   of   him,   the   way   he   seemed   to   remind   himself   to   breathe   every   few   moments   for   fear   of   hyperventilating.   it   was   the   way   he   discreetly   held   out   his   hand   as   she   came   closer   to   him,   as   if   his   body   knew   her   touch   would   steady   the   tornado   inside   him   right   now.   “HEY.”   HE   BREATHED,   “PLEASE   TELL   ME   YOU   HAVE   A   FREE   PERIOD   RIGHT   NOW?”
