[Series Review] Go Ahead

★★★★☆

This series is WHOLESOME, so heartwarming.

Drama ini bercerita seorang single dad yang membesarkan putrinya setelah istrinya meninggal, lalu ada tetangga baru yang pindah di lantai atas mereka. Li dijodohkan dengan single mom yang memiliki putra bernaama Ziqiu, namun karena sesuatu si Ibu meninggalkan anaknya.

Di sisi lain, tetangga baru, keluarga Ling, punya masalah keluarga dan bercerai. Sang Ibu juga pergi. Akhirnya Li dan Ling memutuskan untuk membesarkan 3 anak, Jianjian, Xiao, dan Ziqiu seperti sebuah keluarga.

Sepuluh tahun berlalu, mereka beneran seperi keluarga, bedanya ga ada ibu. Ini asli deh dramanya beneran nonjolin tentang family, slight romance sama friendship.

Nonton 40 episode ga kerasa, tau-tau udah beres aja.

Drama ini itu lucunya unexpected, bikin senyum-senyum, bikin nangis, ah nontonnya campur aduk.

Sangat recommended buat yang suka banget sama slice of life.

I always loved to think that everyone speaking one and the same language (with very few exceptions) is sort of game convention and there're multiple languages spoken in the Lands Between (and the world of ER in general).

Worldbuilding in my Main Fantasy World Part 4: Mendici

Mendici is a smaller country, and the center of the medical world. Their country magic system is healing, as they have these vines that grow on a specifric type of tree (the trees are also magic organisms but they don’t really do anything). The vines can be used to make all sorts of concoctions that increase the body’s natural healing ability. Because of this, Mendici just sort of naturally became where all medical care takes place, even those not aided by the magic healing.

As someone gains more control over the healing magic, they also start to gain some control over their hair growth.

Mendici does not really have schools, and mostly people are expected to learn from their parents when young, and from the person they apprentice under when older.

The cousins to the reclusive race, the Dracin, the Lungidyne are a proud and confident race who treasure their wealth and strength.

They typically have vibrant skin tones which are usually the same hue as their feathery hair. They also have long, scaled tails with feathers. Additionally, they sport large horns/antlers which are typically a contrasting color of their hair. They also have long, feathered ears and eyes with black sclera, whiskers, and eyes with black sclera and spiral-like irises.

[Series Review] When I Fly Towards You

Nonton ini karena katanya setipe sama Hidden Love, she fell first he fell harder hahaha. Bedanya ini si cewe ngejar cowonya brutal, terang-terangan.

Ini drama 2/3 lebih itu fokus zaman SMA, terus lebihnya kuliah + kerja.

Bagus, ringan, minin konflik. Cocok buat kalian yang nyari drama buat kabur dari penatnya kehidupan.

Romance-nya juga ga menye-menye, terus suka banget sama friendship 5 sekawan. Main couple gemes, tapi second couple-nya juga ga kalah uwu (apalagi Tom-Jerry relationship mereka hahaha)

karakter Zaizai ga ada development-nya, dari awal sampai akhir ya gitu aja. ya dari SMA sampai tamat ga ada perubahan

ini kan ceritanya ada rentang 8 tahun, tapi dari zaman SMA sampai kerja karakter utama penampilannya sama terus, jadi pas ep akhir, nonton adegan nikah berasa lihat anak SMA nikah (+ muka zaizai emang baby face, tapi make-upnya ga mendukung umur jadi ya gitu kesannya)

Worldbuilding in my Main Fantasy World: Part 2: Rakan

Rakan is one of the bigger and more powerful countries. What their country specific magic is is a topic of some debate. The two main sides are that they don’t have one or that it’s teleportation but because of how teleportation is the magic of space, it was able to travel to other countires. The evidence for teleportation being the country magic is that Rakan is home to the colorful Teleporting Butterfly. Alas, the name is a misnomer. It’s actually a time traveling moth. But the time traveling is a closely gaurded secret known to only two people at a time (if not, Zadaf will fix that.)

Rakan is a monarchy, with the current king or queen choosing their heir, usually the most powerful among their relatives (Here, power essentially means ‘if they don’t have metamagic, they’re not even in the running’). However, if the monarch is successfully assassinated, then their assassin becomes the new monarch.

The tradition of assassination leading to taking over the throne dates back to before the counties were united under one ruler (in fact, that’s how the First King took control, by killing other Counts). These days, taking over the position of Count via killing them is regulated to only duels following a code, and only members of that noble family can challenge the Count.

The Counts have control over most of the governance of their county, from collecting taxes (of which a portion goes to the monarch, of course) to setting laws. However, the portal network and school system is the domain of the monarch.

Rakan has public schools, free to everyone from five to fifteen. The schools are not required, and also not of the best quality. The classes frequently have upwards of forty students. The schools teach reading and writing, heat magic, portal magic, and arithmatic.

Rich people will frequently have their children be tutored up until they can get accepted into an academy. Academies mostly use the standardized exam for their admissions, which has an essay, a multiple choice section on general knowledge as well as magic exams on both portals and heat magic.

One of the academies that use their own admission standard is the Royal Sorcerer's Academy, which is nearing its second decade. They recurit in a unique way, as it is the academy that trains those that have metamagic. Rakan tests everyone aged 14-16 once every three years for metamagic, and then force everyone in the country to attend the Royal Sorcerer's Academy.

Rakan doesn’t have an explicit immigration policy, as they don’t really have a legal category of citizenship, it’s more if you live there, you’re a resident and have to pay taxes and whatnot.
