The emphasis on love in most of these is wonderful, just as with Peter Lorre's trailer. Here we have it called out as a "strange, irresistible power":

Here the disembodied hand is a nice tie-in. "Gripped by fascination" would allude more to Gogol's hand, and yet. . .

Here we are with the mystic, love-maddened Dr. Gogol, victim of his own immense prowess (4 out of 5 megalomaniacs agree):
