🥺 first time headcanon. For our Chicago Med boys please?
And I hear that you’re having a birthday soon. I know what you’re favorite animal is but what’s your favorite flower/plant?
Lmao my 36th birthday would you believe. I am really digging peonys at the moment! And peace lily's for plants.
Tumblr media
So I have already written a fic on this but to revise it, the two of you met when you were both helping Goodwin with the Chicago Med Christmas Toydrive. The two of you got roped into wrapping in the conference room. Both of you got a little tipsy off home made eggnog and ended up making love on the conference table amidst the wrapping paper and bows. Jimmy knew he was in love because he never does shit like that and you bring something out in him.
Tumblr media
Ohh you make this baby work for it.
Initially he makes a pass at you and you turn him down. Your next convo has him leaving the table pissed but the third... he tells you about Harper and you tell him why you got into children's custody law. It's the first time he's been up front with anyone and he kinda likes it.
It's the fifth date when he eventually gets to undress you. By this time he's gotten to know you as a person, and he's falling in love. He's slow, the way he strips off your clothes, lingering kisses on your skin as he whispers tender words over your form. He makes love for the first time in years that night.
Tumblr media
Connor Rhodes - You are friends that turn to lovers. You met in Molly's bonded over a tough day and you make each other laugh. You move in seperate circles but always end up in the same space, gravitating towards one another. It starts with little touches, a hand on the shoulder, palm on the lower back and hugs and it starts from there.
One night he invites you back to his apartment to test his top shelf booze and you end up in each other's personal space, clothes brushing and he asks you why have we never...
You kiss and it's all over for that two of you. He makes love to you on the couch because he can't stand not being able to touch you, or waiting any longer. You straddle his waist, hands in his hair tugging just a little and it blows his mind.
Throughout the duration of your friendship you have care of one another and even in bed you are still taking care of him.
Tumblr media
Will falls in love with you the moment he sees you. When Jay introduces you as his colleague from Intelligence he is smitten almost immediately and the feeling is mutual. A couple of drinks later and the chemistry is flying. You end up going home with him that night. He's attentive in his love making, taking you apart and leaving you wrecked in his sheets. When you try to leave the next morning, he's already drawing you back into bed for round two and how can you resist

How about indefinitely - Sarah Reese x Reader (Chicago Med)
A/N: I finished watching the season finale of Chicago Med and was inspired by Will Halstead’s own departure and I miss Sarah Reese
Summary: Sarah and the reader had been dating while she was the psychiatrist resident and the reader an attending physician in the ED until she decided to leave Gaffney and head to Texas. At the airport she offered the reader to come with here but ultimately declined, reason was Chicago is home. She was okay with your decision but said if they’re ever in Texas, just call her.
—————————————
Since that day, you had a hard time maintaining your work, every where you look, you see her. It affected you personally and professionally because throughout your career, Sarah had been there since the beginning.
Now it was you who saw her at the end of her career for a new change. It was understandable that she wanted to leave, it made you proud that she was finally making a choice for herself, yet it was saddening that she was still going.
But before boarding, she turned to you and told you that you could come along with her. You did ponder on it but ultimately decided to stay in Chicago. She understood and you knew that it marked the end of your relationship. It ended amicably and you send her away.
It was miserable, the next months you woke up expecting her to be near you but she wasn’t. You also tried going out but it wasn’t like the one you had previously with the psychiatrist. Then it hit you, you still held a torch for Sarah Reese.
During your residency at Gaffney, it was understandable that people all come and go. Connor left, Ava died, Jeff moved to Hawaii, Dylan resigned, Ethan and April had gotten married and started a mobile clinic, Nat had been fired, and now recently Will had been fired and moved to Seattle, last you heard from him he reconnected with Natalie. All of them leaving hurt, but Sarah’s hurt you the most.
Now it was only you, Goodwin, Maggie, Dr. Charles, and Dr. Marcel.
But now, it was your time to go. Reason behind it was because of an off-the-books surgery where you saved a child because as a doctor, you save anybody you can. When the staff found out, you took full responsibility and resigned from the hospital.
So here you are, in front of the many coworkers in the ED. With your stuff packed in a bag that is hung over your shoulders.
“I’m sorry that I have to say goodbye.” You spoke softly, but still audible enough for everybody to hear. “I know it’s not going to be easy once I’m gone, but I have faith that the people that stand here right now, will take great care to this city.” You stated without your voice cracking up.
Dr. Charles then approached you and gives you an embrace. It was emotional, growing up and helping Chicago was the best thing that you’ve ever felt.
“Let’s all wish Dr. L/N the very best.” Goodwin and the ED staff all applauded for you as you shook Goodwin’s hand, thanking her for everything.
Then you gave Maggie one final hug and finally approached Crockett. When he came to Gaffney you accepted him and in return he did to you as well and in the end you became basically brothers.
“Keep saving lives while I’m gone, yeah?” You told Crockett.
“Absolutely.” He shook your hand.
Exiting the ED itself, you turned around and gave one final wave to the still applauding staff.
~~~
A taxi was waiting outside for you. You had previously packed everything in your apartment but only brought your gym bag and a backpack.
“O’hares?” He asked for your destination. You had decided to leave Chicago whole.
“Yes.” You replied, looking out the window as this would be the final time you would seeing the windy city’s skyline. Memories started playing in your head as one tear silently fell.
~~~
Remembering Sarah you decided to go reunite with her so you had just arrived at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
Exiting the terminal, and looking all around you felt small. You did let her know that you were coming to Texas, albeit hesitantly because you had never contacted her so you didn’t know what her reaction would be.
She did read it so that’s a good sign. So again, here you are, in another state where everything is new. You pulled out your phone, in the process of calling a taxi, thinking that she wouldn’t be here but when you looked up, she was there.
She may have been amongst the crowds but her beauty made her stood out to you. Out of reaction, you cracked a smile.
You both approach each other, only stopping once you both were close. Looking at her, you could tell she has grown but was still the same Sarah you fell in love with years ago.
Tumblr media
*Obviously not my gif but anyways*
“Hey.” She greeted you.
“Hey.” You repeated. It was nice to hear her voice again. And judging by the way she sounds, she was happy you were there, in front of her.
Her smile grew more but then she gawks at your lightload. “Is that all you packed.”
You shrugged in response. “I didn’t know how long you wanted me to stay.” You truthfully answered her.
Sarah shook her head as she said the words that unburdens you from discovering that your trip was a waste.
“How about indefinitely.” She smiled as she embraces you tightly, you doing the same. You were ecstatic that your reunion was a success.
Then she does the one thing that caught you off guard. She captures your lips with hers. The kiss lasted for seconds but to you, it felt like an eternity.
You were about to ask her but she beat you to it. “I’ve waited all this time for you, can we continue?” She rubbed your flustered cheeks like she always did.
You answered yes.
Then you both walked out of the terminal, hand-in-hand with a smile as your relationship with Sarah never died but instead grew. You were ready, ready for a new life together.

Pairing: Crockett Marcel x (female) Reader
Word Count: 1924
Author’s Note: I got a few requests for more Crockett, which is so not a problem because I love him. One of the requests just said more Crockett Marcel, and the other one asked for something fluffy with him, so here we go
Trigger Warning(s): Mention of death, slight injury
Disclaimer: I don’t owe nor am I affiliated with any of the Chicago shows, I just like to play with the characters
Summary: Y/N is a firefighter, and she has a friends with benefits relationship with a certain doctor. That is, until she catches feelings and decides to call it quits. But when she’s injured on the job, she finds out just how much she really means to him.
Y/N = Your Name
Y/LN = Your Last Name
Y/EC = Your Eye Color
Tumblr media
Being a firefighter was stressful at times. You loved it, but sometimes it got to you. Especially when you either couldn’t get everyone out of a building, or found out that someone you did manage to get out didn’t make it.
The day you and Crockett first got together was one of those days.
There had been a fire at an apartment building, you had managed to get everyone out, except a young woman died of smoke inhalation after it triggered her asthma. There was nothing that you could really do, but it still hit you hard when you heard that she died. What made it even worse was that she was the same age as you.
So that was what had brought you to Molly’s. You wanted to hide away, but Stella had talked you into getting drinks with her, Sylvie, and Emily, talking about the four of you needing a girls night out. You were certain that they only did it because they knew the girl’s death had affected you.
As the night went on, your friends left to go home. Stella was the last to leave. “You gonna be okay?” She asked you.
You nodded and motioned to your half full drink. “Yeah, I’m gonna finish this and then head home myself, I’ll be fine.” You assured her with a smile.
She nodded and hugged you before leaving.
You felt guilty lying to her, but you knew if you told her that you planned on sticking around, she would stick around too, and right now you just wanted to be alone. You finished your drink and made your way up to the bar. “Hey, can I get another?” You asked Herrmann once he made his way over to you.
He looked at you for a moment. “You sure you want another?” He asked you, concerned.
You nodded. “I’m fine.” You told him, wondering just how many times you’d said that to everyone that night.
He nodded and made you another drink. “This is the last one, after this you’re cut off for the night.” He informed you.
“I’ve only had three so far.” You pouted, but waved it off and nodded. “Fine fine.” You took a sip then noticed someone walk over towards you.
“This seat taken?” Crockett asked you. You’d met him a few times before, but hadn’t really talked to him much.
“No, it’s all yours.” You told him, motioning to the seat.
He took a seat next to you and ordered a drink, you didn’t hear what it was but it looked to be either scotch or whiskey.
You waited a moment before striking up a conversation with him, and the next thing you know you were following him outside. And then you were at his place, his lips on yours, your hands on his chest, his slipping up your shirt.
When you woke the next day, you only slightly regretted the night before. It had been fun, sure, but now was the awkward part.
When you sat up, you looked over and saw that he was just starting to wake up.
“Good morning.” His voice was gravely and his hair a mess.
“Morning.” You breathed out, clearing your own throat a moment after. “Listen, I’m sorry but I was in a weird place last night.” You started to explain. “I wasn’t myself, I was stressed and a little tipsy and this was just an outlet.”
“You don’t need to explain.” He assured you.
You stopped for a moment and nodded. “I’m gonna go.” You said after a moment, moving to get up then stopping. “Can you...not look at me when I do? I’m kinda naked.”
He sat up, eyes on you, an amused expression on his face. “You realize we did have sex last night, I already saw you.”
“Yeah but it wasn’t awkward then.” You pointed out.
“Why does this have to be awkward?” He asked as he turned his attention away.
You shook your head some and quickly got dressed and headed out without saying goodbye.
The next time you ran into him was a little different, but once again you ended up back at his place. After that the two of you talked and began a friends with benefits relationship. It became a regular thing for the two of you to release some steam.
This carried on for a few months, at first it was purely fun. It was free of the stress of a relationship, but you still had the fun. You guys would hookup, sure, but you’d also make sure that you had lunch or dinner together once a week, or at the very least coffee.
It was fun. Until you caught feelings.
Then it started to hurt. You didn’t stop what you had going, because having him in some way was better than not having him at all. At least you had him as a friend.
But then it started to be too much to deal with, and you were afraid you’d slip up and tell him that you loved him, so you ended it.
He frowned at you for a moment before nodding slowly. “Can I ask why?” He asked you, and you could see the worry in his eyes.
“I started seeing someone.” You lied, having already decided that was what you were going with.
Crockett seemed surprised. “Oh?”
You nodded. “Yeah, I just don’t wanna risk screwing it up.” You felt bad lying to him, but you couldn’t continue sleeping with him with the way you felt about him. “We can still be friends, just without the benefits part.” You tried to joke.
He smiled a bit at that and nodded. “Sounds good.” He told you quietly. “I’d hate to lose you completely.”
You gave him a sincere smile. “Same here.” You said honestly, reaching out to squeeze his arm gently. After that you left his place.
You thought it would help, by ending the ‘benefits’ part of your friendship, but it didn’t. Every time you saw him, you longed for him and not just physically. You wanted him in every way and it was eating you alive.
So you started to avoid him completely, thinking that would help.
It was a month since the last time you saw him when you ended up injured.
You didn’t get hurt that bad, you fell through the floor during a fire. The hospital visit was mostly just a precaution, because you only suffered some bruises.
You were sitting there on the bed, waiting for the paperwork so you could be released, when Crockett walked in.
He had a worried look on his face and immediately walked over to you. “Are you alright?” He asked as he started to look you over.
You nodded. “Yeah, I’m fine.” You assured him. “Just banged up a little, they’re getting the paperwork around to release me already.”
Crockett had a concerned frown on his face as he continued to look you over, like your word wasn’t good enough and he had to make sure you were really okay.
“Crockett, I’m fine.” You told him, trying to get him to look at your face instead of looking over your body.
His brown eyes finally met your Y/EC eyes and you could see just how worried he was.
You frowned slightly as you looked at him. “Hey, I’m fine, really.” You said softly, a bit confused as to why he seemed so upset.
He took a deep breath and nodded, straightening up as he stood in front of you.
“What’s wrong?” You asked him softly, tilting your head.
“Nothing.” He shook his head. “I was just worried about you.”
“Yeah, I get that, but you’re being awfully quiet.” You pointed out.
He shrugged his shoulders, looking away for a moment before turning his attention back to you. “Have you been avoiding me?”
You took a moment to respond. “No, why would you think that?”
“Because every time you see me you walk in the opposite direction, you haven’t been answering my phone calls or text messages.” He looked at you. “What did I do wrong?”
You stopped, opening your mouth to say something before shutting it. You shook her head. “You didn’t do anything.” “Don’t give me the whole it’s not you, it’s me line.” He told you, crossing his arms and leaning against the cabinet in the room.
“But it’s true.” You said quietly, watching him.
He shook his head. “I doubt that.” He looked at you again. “Just tell me the truth, what did I do wrong?”
“You didn’t do anything.” You told him quietly.
“Then what was it?” He asked, looking at you with a mix of emotions in his eyes.
You looked down at your hands, which were resting in your lap. “I caught feelings.” You mumbled quietly.
He was quiet for a moment, staring at you with a look of shock on his face. “What was that?”
“I caught feelings, okay?” You huffed out, still not looking at him. “I started to fall for you and I knew you wouldn’t feel the same so I slowly cut you out of my life.”
Crockett shook his head, stepping towards you. He gently tilted your head up to look at him again. “Why didn’t you say that in the first place?” He asked you gently.
You stared up at him. “Because I didn’t want to deal with the rejection.”
He shook his head again. “I wouldn’t have rejected you.” He told you quietly, leaning down to kiss you.
You kissed him back before pulling back. “Wait a second.” You said quietly, opening your eyes and looking up at him. “What does this mean?”
He paused for a moment, looking down at you, his hands cupping your face. “I think this means we both want more than what we had.”
You nodded slowly. “So does this mean we’re a couple?” You asked quietly, scared that he’d say no.
“If you want us to be.” Crockett answered you softly. “I know I want us to be.”
“You do?” You asked softly, a smile finding its way to your face.
“You’re not the only one that caught feelings, darling.” Crockett told you, kissing you again.
“You have no idea what a relief that is.” You whispered after he pulled back.
“I think I might.” He answered you.
Maggie cleared her throat from the doorway. “Sorry to interrupt, but I have some paperwork that needs to be signed in order for Miss. Y/LN to be released.”
Your cheeks heated up and you looked down for a moment as Crockett stepped back from you. You looked at Maggie and smiled. “Great, let’s get them signed so I can go home.”
She walked over and held out a clipboard to you. “I need initials here, here, and here, a signature here, and.” She flipped to another sheet. “Initials here and a signature here and you can go.”
You quickly signed everything and then handed the clipboard back to her. “So I’m free now?”
“You are free now.” Maggie nodded, heading to the door.
“Thank you so much.” You stood up, as soon as she was out of the room you turned to Crockett. “After your shift is over, swing by my place.” You stopped. “If you want to, that is.”
He smiled at you, closing the distance and wrapping his arms around you, pulling you to him in a hug. “I’ll be there.” He said softly before placing a kiss to the top of your head.

Right the Wrongs
Pairing: Natalie Manning x Best Friend! reader
Summary: Y/N and Natalie have been best friends for years, so when Natalie is in an accident with Will, and something seems off with Phillip, Y/N does everything in her power to fix the present
Requested: Yes, by anonymous
Warnings: slight swearing, mentions of a car accident, blood, and injuries
Word Count: 1,355 Words
Note: Takes place during Chicago Med Season 5 Episode 1, Never Going Back to Normal
Tumblr media
"Hey, Y/N," my best friend Natalie greeted me. "Can we talk for a moment?"
"Uh, can it wait? I'm working a double shift tonight so I want to get all of this stuff done. And I'm kind of busy at the moment," I say and hold up a chart. I turned towards Natalie to get her response, but when I saw her face, my heart dropped. "You know what? This can wait. What's up?"
"I might be having a mid life crisis," Natalie told me. "And I'm not really sure what to do."
"All right, well, on a scale of 1-5, how major is the crisis?" I question.
"I think I'm still in love with Will," Natalie confessed.
"Um, Doris, could you go ahead and get the patient in Treatment 1 started on prednisone?" I ask. Doris nodded, and I quickly thanked her before leading Natalie to the empty doctors' lounge. "Okay, you're gonna have to start from the beginning. What do you mean you think you're still in love with Will?"
Natalie shrugged. "I don't know. Don't get me wrong, Phillip is nice and all, but I just recently discovered that Will didn't want to go back into Witness Protection because of me. And yeah, the two of us have had sort of a rocky past, but the time I spent with him... I can't imagine being with anyone else."
"Okay, this is definitely a level 5 crisis," I declare. "What are you gonna do?"
"What do you think I should do?" Natalie countered. I took a seat on the couch and pat the spot next to me, and Natalie sat down. For a second, I didn't say a word because, well, I didn't really know what to say. Finally though, I spoke up.
"Lets make a pros and cons list," I suggest. "So Phillip, for the pros, he's really sweet and handsome, and he cares a lot for his sick daughter. Cons, his wife did just die, and maybe his feelings for you aren't actually real. You did try to help save his dying wife, and you've been working tirelessly to save his daughter, so this could be a case of transference."
Natalie nodded. "Okay. Now what about Will?"
"Well, the obvious pro is that he's really dedicated, especially with his patients. And he's an overall amazing guy. Plus, he's good-looking and has really nice hair," I add, to which Natalie laughed. "Then there are the cons. He's reckless and stubborn and doesn't always tell the truth."
Natalie sighed and leaned back against the couch, rubbing a hand over her face. "So what are you trying to say? You think I should stay with Phillip?"
"Quite the opposite, actually," I admit. "Sure, Phillip's a great guy, but you and Will have a deep history. And everyone in this ED, hell, the whole hospital, knows how much you care for each other. I say you go for Will. But at the end of the day, it's your decision."
"No, I uh, I think you're right. I need to go find Will," Natalie spoke and stood up. "Have you seem him?"
"Well, shift's just ending, and considering his jacket isn't in his locker and neither are his other things, he's heading to his car," I state.
"Well then, I better hurry to catch up with him. Thank you, Y/N," Natalie murmured and hugged me before exiting the lounge.
................................................
"Oh my god! What the hell happened?" I quiz as Will carried Natalie into the ED. Half of Will's face was covered in blood, and Natalie looked like she had a nasty head wound which was leaking a lot of blood.
"Natalie was thrown from the vehicle," Will explained and placed Natalie down onto a bed.
"Crockett!" I shout to get the doctor's attention. "I need some help in here!"
"I'm here," Crockett breathed out and slipped on some gloves. "What have we got?"
"Blunt head trauma and loss of consciousness," Will disclosed.
"I'm putting a collar on her," I announce.
Crockett nodded. "Start an IV and get her on the monitors and a nasal airway."
"Don't forget a chest X-ray," I add as the two of us worked together.
"Elsa, take Will here to Trauma 2," Crockett instructed.
"No. I'm staying with Natalie," Will argued.
"You're a mess, Will, come on," Crockett requested.
"I'm staying!" Will insisted.
"Will, you need to get looked at, and standing there is not going to help Natalie. I will find you when we have an update," I tell him. Will hesitated, but nodded and allowed Elsa to bring him into the next room.
A Few Hours Later...
I was standing at the nurses' station in the ICU doing some charts, but it was getting hard to keep my eyes open. Usually I could get through a double shift with almost no problem, but today, between Natalie's injury and the huge caseload I had, I was tired out. However, an argument from one of the patient rooms woke me up a bit. I rushed towards where the shouting came from and realized that it was coming from Natalie's room, where Will and Phillip were quarrelling. Crockett appeared behind me, but he allowed me to take the lead.
"Hey! You two can't be here. Natalie needs her rest, and we're only allowing family to visit right now. So both of you need to leave," I declare.
"Natalie and I are engaged," Phillip claimed. "So that would make me her family."
"What? Natalie never mentioned you proposing," I retort.
Phillip nodded towards Natalie's unconscious body. "See for yourself." I glanced over at Natalie's hand, and there, sitting on her finger, was an engagement ring.
"Crockett, could you take Will outside?" I ask.
"Sure thing," Crockett replied and led Will out of the room. As they left, I turned to Phillip and crossed my arms over my chest.
"What?" Phillip questioned.
"I didn't see that ring on her finger when she came into the ED, and I definitely would've noticed it. And if it was there, we would have removed it," I share.
Phillip scoffed. "Is this really any of your business?"
"As her doctor and her best friend, yeah, it is," I answer and glance at Phillip one more time before leaving the room. A few hours later, Natalie was finally awake, and as soon as Phillip was nowhere to be found, I entered her room.
"Hey, Nat," I greet her. "How are you feeling?"
"Fine," Natalie responded. "But uh, Dr. Marcel, he told me Phillip and I were engaged. I don't-I can't remember him proposing."
"Because I don't think he did," I exclaim. "Natalie, before your accident, you told me that you wanted to be with Will. Do you remember that?"
Natalie thought for a moment, and then nodded. "Yeah. I remember that. You have to help me, Y/n. I need to talk to Will, but if Phillip sees..."
"Don't worry. I've got you," I assure her. "Phillip just went to the cafeteria to eat lunch, so he should be gone for at least 15 minutes. I'll get Will in here so that you guys can talk."
"Thank you," Natalie mumbled. I gave her a small smile and left the room, paging Will to my location. A minute or two later, Will appeared by the nurses' station.
"Hey. I got your page. What's up?" Will quizzed.
"Natalie is awake," I tell him. "But before you go in there, there's something you need to know. Right before the accident, Natalie and I were talking, and she told me that she wanted to get back together with you. Phillip lied about the engagement. He put that ring on her finger when she was unconscious. So just go in there and make everything right. Natalie is my best friend, and I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I didn't do everything in my power to make her happy."
"All right. Thank you, Y/n," Will spoke. "For everything."
I smiled. "No problem. Now, go in there and get Natalie back. It's about time the two of you got back together."

“Why can’t we just talk about it —” for reesker pls 🥺 any au 💘
Letters AU coming back from the dead like //
Ava looks small like this. Less imposing. Sarah can hardly imagine this woman being a murderer or a psychopath or whatever other label has been slapped onto her to justify her inhuman treatment. Sarah doesn't think she should be free, of course, but she sympathizes. Ava is lonely and traumatized and between the brutality of the guards and Crockett's unethical methods, she can't ever be expected to improve.
"Good morning, Ava," she greets, setting down her tablet and file folder onto the table between them. Ava does not look up. She remains hunched over, shoulders curled in, cuffs gleaming on her bony wrists where they're held close to the bar on the table. There's a shadow of a bruise under one eye that Sarah can just make out, though it would be easier to see if Ava would lift her head. "How are you feeling today?"
"Like killing Dr. Marcel," Ava responds drily.
Sarah pretends that this does not bother her. She works almost exclusively with people like Ava, so she knows how to compartmentalize the thought to examine objectively. Any feelings she has about the statement can wait to be resolved until she's alone with a glass of wine and a bubble bath.
"What makes you think about that?"
"I don't know, maybe the fact that he's convinced nothing happened to me. I wasn't born like this, Sarah. They made me like this."
Her voice rises in volume and agitation as she speaks, enough so that when she's finished Sarah reaches for her hand to comfort her. Ava latches onto the affection, lacing her fingers with Sarah's in a tight grip that promises difficulty when it's time for her to let go.
"I know."
Ava huffs and finally looks up. Her black eye is dark- recent. But the half-smile she twists her face into is common place. "Aren't you going to ask me how I'd do it?"
"I don't see the therapeutic value in that today."
The smile turns to a pout. "Why can't we just talk about it? I've been putting a lot of thought into Dr. Marcel's death lately, and I-"
"Ava," Sarah interrupts. She deliberately moderates her tone. Like an animal, Ava picks up on any agitation, which she then uses to fuel her rage. "I don't think it's helpful to talk about that right now. Instead, can we talk about you? I believe we left off around the time you applied to medical school."
Talking about herself satiates Ava for now, though Sarah is certain that they will circle back.

Hi :) i love your imagines! Could you do one where reader is jay's sister and Antonio is secretly dating her? She's in dangerous situation and they both come running to safe her? Thanks 😊 and have a great day!
Last Call A.D
Tumblr media
This morning you woke up in bed cuddled up to Antonio. It was your idea to tell your brothers that you were dating Antonio. It was going great so far and you haven't been this happy in years. And it was all due to Antonio. And now here he was, looking at the white board in the units office with a picture labeled of you as a missing person.
This morning, you called your brother, Jay, and asked him if he wanted to come over for dinner that night. You never got to work to talk to Will to ask him to come over for dinner. Now, Jay and Will were sat in the small office with Voight, asking who she was last seen with and who she last talked to. After a few questions, Voight left the room. Antonio was still staring at your picture. Your y/e/c eyes were shining show Bright and showed your beautiful smile. The picture was brought to the office by Jay from his house. The picture also showed Will to your right and Jay on your left with their arms wrapped around you.
When Jay got the call from Will saying you never showed up to work today, he instantly started to panic. You're his sister for God's sakes. And when Antonio got the text from Jay saying he needed the team to come in and help find you, Antonio nearly dropped his phone and ran out the door to the district.
If anything happened to you, Antonio didn't know what he would do. You and Antonio were only together for a little bit but he cared immensely for you. All he wanted to do was make you happy and feel loved. Unlike his ex wife, you understand his love for this job, it was the same way with you at the E.D. You loved and appreciated everything Antonio did for you. He needed to get you back. Enough was enough, time to come clean.
Antonio got up from his desk and made his way over to Will and Jay.
"Y/N asked you dinner tonight. She wanted to ask you," he said pointing to Will, "to come too. But she never got the chance to tell you"
"I told Voight I was the last to talk to her." Jay told him.
"No you weren't. I was." Antonio said.
Will looked Antonio up and down confused, "How do you know it wasn't Jay? And why were you talking to our sister?"
"Antonio if you have something to say just say it" Jay said.
Antonio pulled out his phone to show Jay his call log. "You talked to Y/N at 7:47 this morning Jay. I called her at 8:15 to make sure she got to to work, she said she had just parked her car"
Jay and Will took turns looking at Antonio's phone. "She only asked you to dinner because she was going to tell you that we were dating"
"Dating. Dating each other? You and my sister together?" Will asked.
"I'm sorry" Antonio said. "I'm sorry I should have said something sooner Jay."
Jay's jaw was clenched but he was able to say, "You and I will talk later but right now we need to talk to Voight."
----
After confirming that your car was indeed parked in the Chicago med lot, they started to search for camera. Eventually they found a camera inside the parking garage and they found footage of you being taken into a van by gun point.
Antonio, Jay and the rest of the team were about to storm the house of your kidnapper. Jay went to door and tried to turn the knob. Locked. He took a step back and kicked the door the down. Antonio then moved in, "Chicago P.D!" he yelled. Antonio cleared the left side of the house while Jay went to the right. From upstairs they heard Hailey yell "Jay! Antonio! She's up here!"
The two men quickly ran up the steps taking two at a time. As the reached the top they saw you laying on the floor in the bathroom. Your scrubs were covered in blood and your arms and legs were covered in bruises. Jay and Antonio dropped to their knees when they got to you. Jay went by your head and started to run his hand through your hair, "We got you Y/N. We got you, hold on sis"
Antonio grabbed your hand and kissed it, "We're here, just hold on"
In-between coughs you were able to tell them, "It's not all mine" referring to the blood "his daughter, she's sick"
"Okay okay, that's good baby" Antonio said.
Jay grabbed his radio "Where my damn Ambo?" He said
"ETA in 3 minutes"
You tried to look at Jay but it hurt to move. "Jay, Antonio and I-"
"I know. I know Y/N. I'm not mad. We can talk later but right now we need to get you to the ambo."
------
Jay, Antonio and Will sat in the waiting room of the hospital waiting to come a see you. On the way to Chicago Med, your lung collapsed due to the severe beating. Will was pacing the floor. Jay sat down, his leg bouncing out of anxiety. And Antonio sat with head down between his hands.
Dr. Marcel came out of the E.D and the three boys rushed over to him. Not caring if they ran into others or not. "How is she, Crockett?" Will asked.
"Well her lung collapsed so we inserted a tube to remove the excess air. She also has some minor interior bleeding. I'm not worried about it too much but we will keep an eye on it. Other than that, I'd say she'll make a full recovery," he tells them.
The boys instantly relaxed but there was one question Antonio was scared to asked. "Dr. Marcel, was she- did he -"
"We did a rape kit just to be safe. It came back negative"
Antonio ran his hand through his hair, "Oh thank God"
Jay extended his hand to the Doctor, "Thank you sir"
Dr.Marcel shook Jay's and looked at each of the  three men while telling them, "I've always liked Y/N. She's an amazing doctor and has such a kind soul. Jay, Antonio, you better find this guy"
"The rest of the team is following a lead now. But can we go and see her?" Jay asked.
"She's upstairs, obviously we want to keep her overnight. But yes you can go see her."
And with Dr.Marcel went back into the ED and they went to the elevators.
You were only on the third floor, but the elevator ride seemed never ending. Jay turned to look at Antonio and asked, "So how long exactly have you been seeing our sister?" crossing his arms.
"Together for about two months. We were talking for one."
Jay sighed, a tad annoyed, "To be fair, I did go out with Gabby for a bit and you were cool with it. Even after it ended. So I guess, I should be okay with it. Besides, she could have picked Ruzek, if she’s with anyone I’m glad it’s you man."
"She was really looking forward tonight" Antonio said.
"Once she's out, we will get together. But right now just stay with her. She needs you Antonio." Will chimed in.
"Your her brothers, she needs you too."
They made there way out of the elevator and went to your room. You were laying in your bed half asleep with a tube sticking out of her side. Antonio's blood started to boil and wanted to get a few moments alone with the man that took you, as did Jay. But right now, Antonio needed to be with his girl.
"We will wait outside," Jay said.
"Are you sure?" Antonio asked.
"Yea man. I'll make a few calls to the district and update the team on Y/N. Hopefully we will have an update on the her kidnapper" Jay said.
"And I can go check on some of my patients, Natalie and Ethan helped cover for me."
Antonio nodded his head, "Thank you" and went into your room. He pulled up the chair and sat next to you holding your hand. You started to stir at his touch and you opened your eyes to find Antonio teary eyed.
"Hi baby" you said. Your voice was rough and you were desperate for water.
"How are you feeling?" He asked.
"I'm drugged up on morphine so I'm thinking pretty good"
He laughed lightly, still amazing after the day you've had you were still making jokes.
"I was so scared Y/N. I thought I lost you. "
"It's not your fault Tonio"
"If I had lost you," his voice was cracking' I-i don't know what I would do. I love you damn much"
"I love you too Antonio"
Antonio leaned down and kiss your head. "Do you want me to go get Jay and Will?"
"If you don't mind, I'd like to have all my boys in one room"
Antonio finally cracked a smile, "Will do. I'll be right back baby" he squeezed your hand and got up to find Jay and Will. As he left the room your thoughts drifted away to what happened earlier today. Your hands started to shake and you chest felt like weight was resting in you but letting you breathe as you tried not to cry. After all, you had to be strong for your boys.

What’s Charcel like in the tiny love!au
idk how much u wanna know so im just gonna. give u a lot dhshdh
they met about six months before Crockett found out about Lolly, when Ethan was covering a night shift. Crockett saw Ethan n he was like Damn okay who’s that day shift doc 👀👀👀. they talked a lil bit (not about patients) and Crockett's brain instantly went Cool okay you’re in love now
Ethan was kind of wary of Crockett at first? in this au he doesn’t drink, but he’s still really chaotic and a bit of a handful, especially for someone like Ethan (but that didn’t stop him from asking for more nights so he could see Dr Marcel)
eventually Crockett got up the courage to ask Ethan if he wanted to go out for coffee or something sometime and Ethan said yes !!
they started actually dating pretty soon after that, but they kept it rlly lowkey (at work anyway). some people knew Ethan had a boyfriend (including Ava and Sarah) but no one really knew who it was, and they just assumed he was someone from out of work
anyway in terms of them as parents,,,
as soon as Crockett found out about Lolly he was ready to be a dad to her, and to do whatever he could for her
Ethan was more hesitant. he’s known Lolly since she was two, and the idea of being her dad with someone he’s only been seeing for five months was overwhelming to say the least (also he’s wary of overstepping with her bc she’s not his kid and he’s scared of doing something wrong)
he’s still there for her though, and bc of how well she knows him, she adjusts pretty well to having him around
Lolly has a lot of thick curly hair, and normally Sarah just leaves it down, or puts it up in a ponytail bc she doesn’t like having her hair or head touched
but! Ethan wants to try doing something nice for her, so he asks April for advice on how to style and care for curly hair (mans uses 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner and half a tube of hair gel. he does Not know about hair care, esp for curly hair), and spends a lot of time with Lolly, getting her more used to having her hair touched
it takes a while, but eventually they get to the point where Lolly can sit with Ethan and let him do her hair (two french braids) without having a meltdown ! they normally have to take a couple of breaks, but it’s still progress, and he loves that Lolly trusts him and feels comfortable enough around him for him to do this (no one else can though or she’ll scream)
Crockett’s really chaotic, and he’s the ‘cool dad’, which basically means that everything he does makes Lolly happy and pisses Sarah off, but like. it’s fine hdhdhd
normally it’s up to Sarah and Ethan to keep him in check (Ava’s just as chaotic tbh)
but also he’s genuinely such a good dad, and Ethan really likes this side of him (he likes every side of him but like. he didn’t expect him to be So Good at being a dad. also he finds it kind of hot)
Ethan has never really been as happy as he is when he’s with Crockett, bc he always makes him feel so loved and special and cared for
anyway Ethan’s so happy with his family, and even though it’s nothing like what he imagined when he was younger, he still loves everyone in it so much, and he’s so glad he met Crockett
Crockett’s the same, but even more excited bc he! has! a! kid!!!
there’s probably more that I’ve forgotten but if u wanna know anything specific just ask !!

Let's get it started.
- CHICAGO MED:
Sexcel. Marcel is a prick but I still kinda love him..? I don't know, it's not my fault, leave me alone. For real though, I really like him as a doctor, he seems like he really knows what he's doing, and as a human being... nobody's perfect, right? LOL I don't even think he should be considered the cause of Chexton drama to be honest: maybe trying to get in April's pants wasn't the right move, but he's not the one in a relationship. There's only one person to blame.
Chexton. Ethan really did put a ring on it, uh?! And she said yes, too. Wow, I admire the audacity! Do I think the marriage is gonna occur? The fuck not, he is somehow gonna find out about the Sexcel kiss and call the engagement off. Happy endings? We don't know 'em.
April. Wow, she's really decided to not tell Ethan about the kiss with Crockett! Gross. As I said before, I hate liars... I could've understand if the kiss was like - little crossover - Renée and Kelly's at the end of season 5 (was it season 5? I'm dumb lol), but it seems like it was a big deal for April. She herself said, correct me if I'm wrong, that things could've quickly gotten out of control. Like, excuse me?!
Will and Nat. So are they still gonna let them fight and annoy the hell out of me? Is this a fucking curse or something? Oh my god. This time I'm not on anybody's side, the fight was dumb (not the topic itself, but the way the whole thing was managed) and could've easily been avoided: Will needed to do a more thorough check on that junkie mama and Natalie should've told him she was gonna contact CPS whether he liked it or not. You see how simple it is? Fuck, I hate them so much. (Nick/Will looked really good with that shirt in his last scene - his shoulders are very sexy).
Elsa. She's a baby, I wanna protect her. And she smiled, she so cute. And she's gay af - quick reminder, in case you think that shipping her with Will can even remotely be a good idea (jk, y'all know me, you do you).
Daniel. The scene of him singing for his CeCe at Molly's was truly heartbreaking to see. By the way, Oliver has a nice voice, our cast is multitalented! Dr. Charles has a history with depression, though, so I hope he's gonna take care of himself, a thing he seems determined to do, maybe with the help of Sharon - and Elsa too, they're starting to bond.
Maggie and Ben. They're cute, yeah, Ben is in remission and I'm happy for him. But I honestly don't really care about them as a couple to be honest... There's nothing wrong with them, I'm just not interested. Stop.
Quick question: can they change Dr. Marcel's name, please? I mean, when she confessed the whole thing to Maggie, April's voice was trembling, her eyes were watery, but I couldn't help but laugh at her: "I kissed Crockett" LMFAO, you kissed who?! Like, c'mon, what kind of garbage name is that? Gross. *almost throws up*
- CHICAGO FIRE:
Seager. She was ridiculously embarrassing. At first I thought she was gonna accept the fact that Severide is already taken (even though he didn't tell her explicitly from the beginning, so it's partly his fault too, kinda), but when she asked him out after seeing him and Stella clearly acting as a couple, I lost my cool. Bye, Felicia. I'm so glad Kelly told her he's not interested and, y'all, did you see how he looked at Stella and could tell the situation was making her uncomfortable? Wow, couple goals. I'm waiting for a proposal by the end of the season.
Pickles? Foster... I like her, I hate her, I don't know. She's too moody. The fight with Brett was honestly very childish and uncalled for and I'm glad Sylvie stood up for herself and put Emily in her place. Plus, she did it in such a well-mannered and polite way... she's a princess, what can I say. Stella speech about girls sticking up for each other... Yes! Just yes.
Blake. I'm not gonna censor myself: he likes pussy..? Yikes. You guys know I was already starting to ship him with Ritter, but the writers had to ruin it for me. It's ok, I guess. For the moment I'm not really interested in his relationship with that girl (maybe I'm still bitter LMFAO), even though she seems really cool.
Ritter. When are we gonna see his boyfriend?! Damn, those writers! Blake joined 51 just the other day and we already know every little thing about him, I ask to see just a bit of LGBTQ+ content and they act like they're dumb..? How about you show it properly instead of just mentioning it and act like your job is done, mh? I'm ready to fight, I don't care.
Whose tool? : Our tool = What team? : Wildcats! — SAME ENERGY.
Iconic lines: "I'm gay, I'm not blind" + "I know it's hard to imagine with your emails and Facebook and Myspace...," – Mouch, Myspace? In 2020? Ok Boomer (I had to, I'm not sorry)
- CHICAGO PD:
Well well. We've been robbed. We're not clowns, we're the whole circus. The episode wasn't bad at all, I liked it, but still, what the fuck was that?! We've been waiting for more than a month to see some really angsty, whumpy stuff, the episode was supposed to be Jay centered and what did we get? A lame murder case that somehow became interesting only when Kevin and his brother got involved.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad my baby Kev gets to get more screentime (it was about time!), but why giving him now and not the next episode? What's the logic in this?
The beginning wasn't even bad, the premises were good. It was all very serious and solemn and all that good stuff we like and then, boom!, they said fuck that, fuck Jay Halstead, fuck you clowns who thought we were gonna treat him with the respect he deserves. Man was literally about to die and then suddenly he's fine, he talks (Jesse was making the voice he uses to imitate Jason, I heard that!), he even jokes around... Like, make it make sense. I'm frustrated. I wanna say a whole lotta other things, but yeah, I hope you get my point.
The Upstead content was kind of a payoff but yeah, still better than nothing. And about that... that fucking phone, really? Hailey was about to confess her feelings, or at least say something really serious to Jay, but of course they were interrupted. As I said, we're clowns. And Jay was ready: my man was so ready to get out of the friendozone, I saw that smirk that slowly faded into a disappointed look. We'll get there, Jay, I probably want it more than you do LOL
Vanessa's gonna be the godmother of Upstesd children. She ships them so much, cutie. "It's hard because you love him" - "Of course I love him, he's my partner" Hailey, sis, stfu and stop lying.
Burzek. They're having a baby, I'm so happy, I'm gonna cry. The little Alvin Ruzek (Kev is gonna be their godfather, I don't make the rules) is gonna be the Intelligence unit mascotte. I'm so ready. Yo, we're having this baby, right? No funny business here, they already broke our hearts with Dawsey twice. Also, did you notice how Adam screamed Kim's name when he thought the million bullets might've hit her and the baby. OMG gheyret having a baby. Whew, I'm not crying, you are!
I admit I wasn't following the storyline at all, like I literally can't tell what was going on before Jordan, Kev's brother, got involved. I wanna see where they're going with this plot: it can potentially be a cool one, I'd actually like too see some drama around Kevin's character - and maybe him being supported by Vanessa, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. I don't know, they either develop it properly or they better end it with 7.11
Y'all, the dude Darius was supposed to set up, the one who got killed by Jordan's girlfriend, is identical to Chris Brown, minus the ears. It's scary.

There was a time I couldn’t imagine a future without you, but I can now. [And] I feel…free.”
– Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss), 5×09 “I Can’t Imagine The Future”
Chicago Med had to end their fifth season early due to the pandemic, so their 20th episode served as their makeshift season finale. Since we’re unsure of when they will exactly be back filming, I figured it’d be a great time to take a look at a “wish list” of sorts for their up-and-coming sixth season. From happy couples to hospital policies, there’s a lot that can be done during season 6 of Chicago Med. Keep reading below for some ideas.
Learn more about Crockett’s past
Tumblr media
Perhaps it was just bad timing for Crockett Marcel’s (Dominic Rains) past to come to light during their season finale, but regardless, it would be cool to get to know more about Med’s newest doctor.
How did his lost child come to be? As in, was he previously married? Engaged? In a relationship? And how was he as a father? We saw a little bit of how his loss affected his current work – in episode 12, and in episode 20. But, it would be – I hesitate to say nice, because who wants to see a character in pain? – interesting to see if we could learn more on how he was affected by it. Did it change how he operated as a doctor? Was it the reason for his move from New Orleans to Chicago?
We’ve only really seen the overconfident, cocky Dr. Marcel – I think it’s time we could stand to see another side of him. Not that he has to break down completely, but to show a little more vulnerability would be refreshing, I think.
Can Manstead make it work?
Tumblr media
…At least as friends, that is. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) said she would want to try and be friends with Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) again, so why can’t they make it work? I think they could, and should give it a shot at least.
Now, before anyone freaks out, that’s not to say I don’t “ship” Manstead. I’ve been rooting for them since day 1. But, that being said –– Will and Natalie have both seemed to have moved on. Will’s been dating Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram); and Chicago Med has hinted at a potential connection between Natalie and Crockett. Yep, as in Crockett Marcel!
Will and Hannah started off as a bit of a wildcard romance at first, and while I’m not quite sure if we can fully trust Hannah, Will seems to, which is really all that matters. Meanwhile, Natalie and Crockett have been working closely, and way more often, together. So, will there be more in store for those two? It’s hard to tell for sure, since Med was cut short by 3 episodes.
With where they left off, it appears as though Crockett may open up more to Natalie about his past. That could be a good thing, as it would further my first point.
But, back to Manstead.
While we saw Natalie and Will argue quite a bit during season 5, it would be nice to see them interact in some way again next season. Even if it starts as a simple “Hello.” Maybe kind of getting back to their season 1 vibe? Just a thought.
Explore Chexton as individuals
Tumblr media
While I did like Chexton together, now that they…aren’t, I think it would be a prime time to give some screentime to April and Ethan as individuals. Who are they without the other? We know their backgrounds, but we haven’t seen them interact with many others besides each other over the last season. (Well, okay. Unless you count Crockett. But let’s not get into that right now).
It would be interesting to see April have to find a place to live. Or, maybe she could live with her brother, Noah? I missed seeing the Sexton siblings on my TV towards the back half of the season! It would also be intriguing to see how Ethan fares on his own. Like, does he miss April? Or, does he thrive? Does he – dare I say – find someone else? Or, is his heart still attached to April, despite her indiscretion?
And what about April? Can she work alongside her ex-fiancé and her former crush? Well, I’m assuming it’s in the past, as we haven’t seen anything more personal between Crockett and April; only professional, which is good given the situation, I think.
See Maggie, Ben, and Auggie as a family
Tumblr media
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GIVE BEN, MAGGIE, AND AUGGIE A HAPPY GO LUCKY STORYLINE. PLEASE. THEY DESERVE IT!
In all seriousness, Maggie and Ben have been through hell and back. The both of them fought cancer, and beat it to remission! Then, they got engaged and married! Now, they’re going to tackle raising a young kid together. The best foster parents ever? Check. Adorable kid? Check. Family unit in the making? Check.
They deserve to have that idyllic family life: cooking pancakes in the kitchen on the weekends; Ben taking Auggie with him to school while Maggie jets off to work; Maggie coming home and reading Auggie a bedtime story, etc. Would that not be the cutest thing ever?! And who deserves it more than Ben and Maggie?! My heart is bursting at the thought.
Have more scenes featuring Owen, Elsa, etc.
Tumblr media
I’m well aware adorable Owen Manning is very different from super-intelligent medical student Elsa Curry. But, in general, what I’m saying is it would be lovely if we could utilize these sort of, “background” characters more. Give Elsa a storyline beyond desiring Will’s affection (thank god I think Med has moved past it for now). Give Natalie some more scenes with her own child, Owen. Please? Please, @ Chicago Med, I’m begging you. Can we also get Nurse Doris, Trini, or Monique into more scenes? They offered great lines of dialogue and an extra layer that makes Chicago Med more realistic (though it’s already very realistic)!
More storylines for Sharon Goodwin and Daniel Charles
CHICAGO MED — “I Will Do No Harm” Episode 515 — Pictured: S. Epatha Merkerson as Sharon Goodwin — (Photo by: Adrian Burrows/NBC)
CHICAGO MED — “The Ghosts Of The Past” Episode 517 — Pictured: Oliver Platt as Daniel Charles — (Photo by: Elizabeth Sisson/NBC)
The veterans of Gaffney Medical Center have gotten quite a few spotlit stories on their personal lives, so let’s keep that going into season 6! We left off with Sharon’s son doing business with a medical supply company, and he seemed to have bonded with Dr. Lanik fairly well. But, Sharon was seen looking a little uneasy. Why? Could it be the methods with which Michael secured this information? If so, could we see them have a discussion about it?
For Dr. Charles, it was great to see him step into that paternal role more. Can we keep that going with his daughter, Anna next season too? Yes, we saw him suffer a devastating loss of his wife, Caroline “CeCe” Charles, and we saw Robin make an appearance during that time. But, after that, his ex-wife and Anna made an appearance. Anna came back recently too, and it was great to see Daniel admit his slight failings as a parent with her…and to see him try and make it right. It gave the always so smart psychiatrist Dr. Charles a more humanistic quality. It kind of made him more relatable, more everyday.
It would be nice to see the more real sides of both of Med’s fearless leaders.
There you have it, 6 wishes for Chicago Med’s sixth season. Do you have something you wanna see happen? If so, comment below, or reach out on social media!

Wake Up
Summary: Noah’s worst injury is a traumatic brain injury.
WC: ~3k
Warnings: Death
When Noah comes to for the very first time, it’s been two full days since he was attacked. Or at least, that’s what they tell him. His memories are sloppy and thrown together, not quite painting a full picture of what happened to him besides the fact that it really hurt. Maybe it’s better that he doesn’t remember, because his body looks and feels like he was dropped into a blender and pulsed on high speed. Two to three minutes until creamy, he thinks dazedly. There’s no one else in his room, but a whiteboard across from him lists his medications and what scans they’re taking him through today, while his bedside table is crowded with flowers and balloons and get well cards.
He fumbles around for a minute to find the call button, trying to make sure that they know he’s awake. Maybe they’ll have some answers for him, or at least be able to call up April. His memories are fuzzy, but he knows he needs to make sure she’s alright. He gets a nagging suspicion that there’s someone else he should be talking to, but it doesn’t make its way through the mess of his mind yet. Be patient, he tells himself. He’s going to be okay.
The nurse who comes to check on him is sweet, calling the doctor while she does some preliminary testing. Can he follow a pen light with his eyes? What’s his pain level like? Does he know his name? Is there anyone she can call for him.
“I want my sister,” he says. His mouth is clumsy. “April. She works in the ED.”
“I’ll call her for you.”
Noah tries to thank her, but his words stumble together, and he’s left frustrated with himself and confused as two doctors file in, one who introduces herself as Noah’s primary doctor, Dr. Warner, and another who he recognizes after a moment. Dr. Abrams. Something must have happened to his head, which explains a lot about how slow his mind is and how much he’s struggling to piece together.
Warner asks some of the same questions about the nurse, explains his injuries, and asks him how he’s feeling, to which he replies that he’s sore. And then Dr. Abrams clears his throat, not quite looking Noah in the eye as he speaks.
“You sustained a concussion and a fairly small subdural hematoma, a- a bruise on your brain in the temporal region. When you came in, the team thought it best to just keep an eye on it while they worried about more pressing injuries, but once you came out of surgery, you seized.”
Noah hears him, but the words aren’t processing well.
“We stabilized it, and you seem to be healing, but there could be some long term effects.”
“Like what?”
“It could cause problems with your memory, speech, concentration, mood- or none of them. It’s just a wait and see.” Dr. Abrams gives him a somewhat stiff smile and pats his shoulder gently. “I’m sorry, Noah.”
“What’s the last thing you remember?” Dr. Warner asks.
He struggles to fit together the pieces. It’s all out of order, hard to tell what came when. Opening presents for his birthday as a child and getting a residency at med and going to a busy party with tons of people at a naggingly familiar but unidentifiable location, all bright and vibrant memories, feel like they happened at the same time even though he knows that isn’t true. He just doesn’t know. But what feels the most recent is getting hurt.
“Pain,” he answers.
“Do you remember anything else about it?”
Noah shakes his head, even though it makes him a little dizzy. “No, sorry.”
“It’s okay. Some of it may come back with time,” she says, and before he can be bombarded with more questions, April’s coming in.
She looks rather haggard, compared to how put together she often is. Her hairline is loose with flyaways, bags heavy under her eyes, shifting unsteadily on her feet. Noah hates when she’s worried, because it usually means that he has to worry, and/or something bad is happening. This is how she was when he applied to medical school, after she put herself through nursing school to provide for him like their parents never have. She’s done a lot for him, he thinks, and he feels bad to have upset her like this.
“Hey Noah,” April says softly, pulling a chair up at his bedside. “How’re you feeling?”
“Never better.”
She cracks a small smile. “I called Crockett when they said you were awake. He’s on his way, should be about twenty more minutes.”
Crockett, like the vague memory of a party, isn’t entirely strange but has no specific connotations in his head. He can’t put it together well, but he pretends to know what that means while she talks to the doctors and a good amount of it goes over his head. Concentrating on it makes his head start to hurt, which he chalks up to still being tired, so he lets them talk about it and struggles to put together the pieces. What names does he know other than April’s? He knows Dr. Abrams. He scours his brain and comes up with Maggie and Ethan, too, but much more than that starts to go fuzzy. He thinks of brown curly hair and a white coat, a name out of reach but a laugh burned into his brain.
“Noah.”
He blinks at April. The doctors aren’t here anymore, just them, and Noah wonders how he missed that.
“How are you? Really?” she asks.
“Everything hurts and my brain isn’t working.”
She laughs slightly, leans to press a button at his side that floods him with warmth and chases away the pain after a brief moment. A nice little dose of painkillers. He should have thought about that earlier, asked after it because there’s not a single part of him that doesn’t ache. When he looks at his hands, one has mottled bruises on it, and the other is wrapped up in a cast that stretches from the middle of his palm nearly all the way to his elbow. It’s bright, neon pink of all colors. He wonders who chose it. April wouldn’t have, but the curly haired girl in his memories would, he thinks. It’s hard to know.
Noah relaxes back against the pillows, reveling in it for a moment before there’s a loud knock on the wall and he’s jerked back into reality to see a naggingly familiar face, smiling at him and holding a bouquet. Has it been twenty minutes since April got here? Because he’s pretty sure this is the Crockett she mentioned, setting down the roses at his bedside and pressing the gentlest of kisses to his temple.
“Hey sugar, it’s good to see you awake.”
More than anything in the world, Noah wishes something would happen to give him an excuse not to say anything, reveal that he doesn’t know who this man is or what they mean to each other. He looks at April pleadingly, hoping she’ll help, but she can’t.
“Noah?”
He swallows and looks at the man. He looks pretty rough too, just like April, and he has the faint smell of liquor still on his clothes, like he had been drinking before he got here. He doesn’t sound drunk. But he smells it.
“Noah, sugar, what’s wrong?”
“I- I-”
It’s April who puts a hand on the man’s shoulder and gives him a thin smile. “Maybe you should come back later.”
“But-”
“Crockett.”
Reluctantly, Crockett leaves the room, roses left behind and Noah’s skin burning with the memory of his kiss. She must have known something was wrong, and like when they were young, she’s protecting him. He can breathe easy now. Or at least easier. His chest hasn’t much been cooperating, but it’s perfectly fine with the combination of painkillers and a cannula giving him extra oxygen. His stats look fine, anyway, even if he doesn’t feel good.
“Noah, honey, do you know who that was?”
He wants to say yes. He wishes he could say yes. But he shakes his head slightly. “He seemed familiar…”
The last thing he wants is April’s pity, but it washes across her face anyway with a splash of worry and the slightest hint of anger. Not at him, he hopes. It’s hard to tell. But she’s very careful choosing her words when she picks up Crockett’s flowers and sets them out of Noah’s line of sight.
“That was Crockett Marcel. He’s a trauma surgeon in the ED, you’re doing your residency under him.”
She stops there, but clearly there’s more to say.
“And?”
“You two have been together for a couple months.”
It would explain the flowers, how upset Crockett was, but mostly Noah is having a hard time believing that he had- has? A thing with a cocky surgeon who’s apparently in charge of him and from the smell of it, has a drinking problem. It doesn’t make sense. And why wouldn’t he be able to remember any of that?
“I don’t…”
Something must show on his face. Sadness, loss, confusion- something that makes April’s face go soft as she tucks his sheets around him like they’re children again, makes a soothing sound and fluffs one of his pillows. She’s mothering him. He doesn’t mind this time. It’s easier than trying to do it for himself right now.
“Just get some rest, okay? We can figure it out later.”
And he is tired, so he nods slightly and relaxes into the bed. He hurts. There’s a part of him that wants to wake up later, with all the pieces put back together, and he won’t have to try and tape together shredded photographs of memories that he can’t imagine himself making. He prays, as he drifts off, for everything to make sense.
The next time he comes to, nearly a full day later, he has no more idea than he did last time. April is still there, but in sweatpants and a tee shirt as opposed to her scrubs, and there’s new flowers at his bedside. She smiles and tells him that hopefully, he’ll be able to go home in a week, except that Noah isn’t sure where home is. It’s fine. It doesn’t matter.
“Good morning. Or good evening, I guess,” she says.
She sounds tired.
“Sleep well?”
“Ish,” he answers, and finds the painkiller button to help with the ache spreading through his body. On the whiteboard across from him, mixed up with words he can’t quite read, are pinned-up scans that are probably of his body. One of his chest shows a completely whited out lung. There’s one of his brain that’s got a bright blast of colors on it. “Are we supposed to have those?”
Immediately, April stands up and takes them down, tucking them out of sight. “I asked to see. Sorry.”
He looks down at his chest and wonders if that’s why it hurts. Probably. It could be blood or fluid, he has no way of knowing unless he asks, which he would rather not. This is one thing he’s happy to be ignorant of. The cards, however, he’s curious about, so he reaches clumsily over for the pile. With mild success, he gets them into his lap and can start trying to read them.
Key word, trying.
For whatever reason, he can’t make the lines turn to words. He spends maybe a minute or two staring at the one in front of him before he sets it down and wills himself not to cry. He won’t cry. This will be fixed soon, he’ll be fine.
“Do you want me to read them to you?”
He nods. This is humiliating, but it’s outweighed by his curiosity as April takes the first off the stack and reads it to him like a bedtime story. This one is from someone named Elodie, a name he doesn’t recognize but whose words seem like they were close. There’s a generic one signed by “the whole med staff,” one from Crockett, one from their parents. But then, April picks one up and immediately sets it back down.
“April?”
“It’s fine.”
She goes to throw the card away.
“April.”
“Noah.”
“Please?”
There’s a slow, deep breath. A sniffle. Hesitation as she opens the brightly colored card and shakily reads, “You’re lucky you’re still alive. Next time it’s your sister.”
Before he can ask what that means, she’s stepping out of the room with her phone and he has to guess this is about whatever put him in the hospital. He doesn’t know why, but clearly it’s bad, and if they hurt her, he’ll never forgive himself. He can’t let them hurt April. Whoever they are.
When he tries to remember, it just gives him a headache and brings him to painful tears and a sharper pain in his chest because of course he still can’t breathe. It’s only been a handful of days. He struggles for the call button, hoping that someone will help him, help April. In the moments between finally hitting the button and someone coming, there’s a taste like the way matches smell in his mouth. He doesn’t remember anything after that.
It’s only a few hours before he wakes up again. His body aches and tingles like he’s been shoved through an electric outlet and squeezed back out, and the room is crowded. April and Crockett. Dr. Warner and Dr. Abrams. A tall man with a dark jacket and a notepad. It’s a lot at once, and he forgets how to breathe for a minute while Dr. Abrams talks at him.
“I don’t…”
There’s a word that belongs at the end of the sentence, but he can’t find it. Instead, he trails off again. He’s been doing that lately. They’re all looking at him until the stranger pulls up a seat beside him and asks him what he remembers about the attack.
“It hurt.” One of his hands raises to his head almost instinctively, finding bandages. Oh. “Something about- about-”
“It’s okay, take your time, sugar,” Crockett says.
What comes out of his mouth is “May.”
Everyone’s looking at him.
“April. I mean April.”
Dr. Abrams gives everyone a look and crosses his arms, but doesn’t interrupt the stranger. Probably a police officer, that would make sense.
“There was a woman.”
“Can you remember anything about her?”
Nothing comes to mind. A hint of a voice, but not enough for him to know what was said and there’s no face to fill the void. Useless. The stranger thanks him, leaves him, gives the seat to Dr. Abrams and the heavy black tablet in his hand.
“Noah, it doesn’t look like your brain is healing.”
He shows him a picture. The colors again, but it’s taking up more space and Noah has this nagging sense that he should understand it better than he does. So he nods slightly and looks around the room. They’re all still looking at him.
“We have a couple of options. We could do a craniotomy, where we would remove part of your skull to get to the blood clot, and drain it. There’s a good chance you survive it, about 80%. It’s too large for a burr hole. We could also just leave it alone and hope. Put you on anticonvulsants, keep you comfortable, and see if it heals on its own. It would be less invasive, and less painful, but there’s no guarantee.”
Noah nods.
“What do you want to do?”
If he’s honest, he doesn’t quite recall the options, and there’s nothing to suggest an answer on anyone’s face, so he finally gets out, “Whatever you think is best.”
“I’d recommend the surgery, and that we do it as soon as possible.”
“Okay.”
Except he doesn’t know for sure what he’s agreeing to, and he’s tired again from all the talking and the thinking and a nap sounds good, even though they’re still talking to him. More frantically now, louder, and he tries to stay awake as best as he can.
“Can you hear me?”
The face above him reminds him of his mother, and he smiles.
He wakes up in a different room with a nebulizer on his face. Nothing hurts anymore, but he can’t quite think of anything, either. His brain is blissfully empty, his mouth disgustingly dry, and the cold metal on his chest is making his muscles tighten. It’s harder to breathe now.
“Hey, you’re okay, Noah. You’re okay. Do you know where you are?”
Just barely, he manages to open his eyes, looking into a warm, soft brown face with a wide array of blonde curls. She’s wearing a white coat as she shines a light into his eyes. Too bright. Can’t see. But then it’s over and she’s backing away a bit, leaving him to try and orient himself in all this. There’s a couch, off to the side, where two people lay. Both familiar, but not recognizable. He should know who they are. He should know where he is.
The doctor is still waiting for an answer.
He doesn’t have one for her.
The two people on the couch stir, get up in each other’s arms and come to his bedside, each reaching out to him with concern. The woman fluffs his pillows, the man holds his hand. They speak to him, but it doesn’t get through very well. He has no idea what they’re saying, but it feels rather safe and warm. He doesn’t have to worry about anything, not that he could if he wanted to, and rests against the soft bed while a gentle kiss lands on his cheek.
Noah does not wake up again.

Imagine someone like Maggie tells Crockett to stop getting with April and trying to ruin her and Ethan’s relationship but then Crockett says that he isn’t trying to do that’s but rather that he’s trying to get with both April and Ethan and is surprised that people are thinking like that. I mean this would never happen but a girl can dream.
“What are you doing Dr. Marcel?”
“What do you mean?”
“I may not be in here as much as I used to but make no mistake, this is my ED and I know what goes on around here.”
“Okay...,”
“April and Ethan are happy right now, leave her alone.”
“What makes you think I want to break them up?”
“I see the way you look at them, at her. Don’t do it.”
He smirked before replying, “You’re right, I do like to look at them.”
It took her a beat to read the mischievous grin plastered on his face.
“Uh...Ethan isn’t like that...”
Crockett raised an eyebrow, “I’ve been around long enough, people are complex Maggie.”
I mean wouldn’t that just be something. And April and Ethan lying bed after his proposal in the dark.
“I know you’re not asleep Ethan, because I’m not.”
He let out a long sigh.
“It’s weird April, I mean maybe that’s something that can work for my sister and Bernie but we don’t have to make those kinds of compromises.”
“That’s not the question Ethan.”
“I know.”
“Have you ever...thought of men like that?”
“NO!...I mean maybe...once... there was a this guy in the Navy, nothing happened but, I kind of wondered...you know?”
“Yeah, I do.”
“So what do we do?” he asked.
“I don’t know, but I also don’t want to lay awake every night wondering if...,” April said before she trailed off.
Like we could have this. But this show is on 8:00 and the boomers are watching.

I Can't Imagine the Future (feat. Ava Bekker)
After finishing a risky surgery on Sophie Davis with Connor, Ava went to write up her surgical notes before meeting up with her fiancé in the ED.
Once she was done, Ava went to check on a couple of her old patients in their rooms before heading to the CT's doctor's lounge to change.
Looking up ahead, there was slight renovation on the path she usually takes to the CT floor from the floor she was on, so had to take a detour through the OR.
Ava took out her phone to see a text message from Connor.
'You done up there yet?'
'Taking a detour. I'll be down in about 10 minutes or so.' She texted back.
Not looking where she was going when she put her phone back in her back pocket. She pushed opened the doors and froze at the sight before her.
Standing a few feet in front of her was April and Crockett kissing.
'April's cheating on Ethan with Crockett!?' Was all Ava could think about in her mind
The trauma surgeon and ED nurse broke apart from each other and turned around to face the CT attending with the same shock frozen facial expression she had on. April put on some distance between the two.
"Uh-Sorry!" Ava spoke quickly and retreated back behind the door.
The South African woman was speed walking back to take the longer route instead to get to the CT floor.
After many twist and turns, Ava finally made it back to her floor. She quickly changed out of her scrubs and grabbed her bag. She pulled out her phone when she felt it vibrate again.
'This must be some detour you're taking? Everything okay up there? Want me to come up and get you?'
Ava quickly shook her head, as if he was in the same room as her.
'No everything's okay. And yes, it was a long detour. I'm ready to leave now. Heading downstairs right now.' She texted back and sighed as she held onto her bag's strap over her shoulder.
She pushed open the door and widen her eyes as she came face to face with the very nurse she was trying to avoid.
"Ava, we need to talk." April held up her hand towards the blonde.
"It's none of my business. I shouldn't get involve in this at all." She shook her head as she tried to walk to the elevator. "Connor's waiting for me downstairs."
"It wasn't what it looked like!" April tried to explain walking right besides Ava.
"You and Marcel kissing and Dr. Choi is leaving for six weeks for the Navy." Ava replied.
April paused. "Okay. Yes, you're right, I did. But, it was a mistake." She stood in front of Ava between her and the elevator. "I had just found out some bad news earlier today. Ethan and I got into a fight because both mine and Dr. Marcel's patient and Ethan's patient needing a kidney. It was a big mess and...I was feeling worthless with everything that happened today."
"What bad news?" Ava raised her eyebrows in concern.
April bit her bottom lip thinking about it.
Seeing how hard it was for her to talk about it, must have been really bad. "Actually, you don't need to tell me what it is. I can tell how hard it is for you to talk about it." Ava placed a comforting hand on the nurse's left bicep. "If you ever want to talk about it, I'm here for you."
"Thank you, Ava." April nodded.
Ava gave her a small smile and a comforting squeeze.
The elevator doors opened behind April, and appeared behind them was Natalie.
"Hey, have you two seen, Will?" She asked.
Ava and April both stared at each other in confusion before turning attention back to the brunette haired woman.
"Not sure. I'll see you two tomorrow." April bit her farewells as she walked away.
"I think I saw him heading to the balcony when I was on my way here. He seemed to be in a good mood. Must of had a good case today." Ava replied getting on the elevator pressed the button to the ED.
"Okay, thanks! Since he's in a good mood, this makes things even better." She grinned as she pressed the button to the balcony floor.
"Dr. Manning, I thought you were avoiding your ex-fiancé?" Ava spoke in a confused voice.
"I was, and I was wrong!" She turned towards the blonde. "I finally remember what happened that night and what I was gonna say to him. I was going to tell him that I wanted to get back together with him and get married."
"Wow, that's great!" Ava wore a fake smile on her face. Knowing about Juliette, Will's new girlfriend that she and Connor set up to help him move on from Natalie.
Right before she could open her mouth, the elevator doors opened.
"Good night, Ava! See you tomorrow!" Natalie grinned as she left the elevator.
Ava could only stare at her in disbelief as she walked away. "There's way too much drama in this hospital." she rubbed her forehead as the elevator doors closed.

~ There must be something in the water 'cause everyday it's getting colder; And if only I could hold ya, you'd keep my head from going under ~
It didn’t take him long to decide on what he was going to do and soon enough he was in his car, driving to the Dayside Hotel. When he got there, he walked up to the front desk to find out what room you were in.
“I’m looking for a guest that’s staying here.” He told the young man behind the desk.
The man, who couldn’t have been much older than 25 looked at him. “Name?”
“Y/N Y/LN.” He gave them your maiden name since he was sure you weren’t still going by Y/N Marcel since you seemed hellbent on leaving him.
The young man looked at the computer and shook his head. “There’s no one checked in with that name.”
Panic flooded him, worried that you’d already checked out and left. “Can you check Y/N Marcel?”
The young man nodded and looked at the computer before nodding again. “I’ll have to call her room before I tell you what room she’s in. Hotel policy.” Crockett nodded, understanding why that was the policy. “Tell her that her husband is here.” He felt a sense of hope overcome him after finding out that you were still going by your married name.
The young man nodded slowly this time before picking up the phone and ringing your room.
You had just changed into sweats and a tank top - planning on going to sleep, hoping it would help your throbbing head - when the phone rang. You frowned, not expecting anyone to be calling the room number, but answered it. “Hello?” You dragged out slowly.
“Hello Ms. Marcel, I’m sorry for the disturbance but this is Ben from the front desk, a man is here claiming to be your husband and wanting to know your room number. Should I tell him or call the cops?”
You froze for a moment. Crockett was here? Why? Didn’t you say everything that needed to be said at the cafe?
“Ms. Marcel?”
You cleared your throat. “It’s fine, Ben, you can tell him the room number.” Your throat was tight as you spoke and your voice was quiet.
“Alright, if you’re sure.” Ben’s answer came from the other end.
“Yeah, I’m sure. Thank you.” You said before hanging up the phone and forcing yourself to take a deep breath.
Within two minutes there was a knock on the door. You pulled yourself to your feet and walked over, what you were feeling was weird, like you were in a dense fog and confused by your surroundings. When you got to the door, you pulled it open swiftly and saw Crockett standing there. “Hi.” You said in a confused but friendly tone.
“Hi.” He breathed out.
You raised a brow as you looked at him. “What’re you doing here, Crockett?” You asked, still watching him, you weren’t upset that he was here but you were completely confused.
He was quiet for a moment as he stared at you, then he sighed and looked down at his hands. “I want you back. I want us to stay married and work this out.” He looked up at you again. “I want you to stay.”
Your chest tightened and your breath got stuck in your lungs as you stared at him. Was this really happening? Was he for real? You finally forced yourself to breath as you locked eyes with him. “Crockett…” You practically whispered, unsure of what to stay.
Next thing you know he’s kissing you, gentle and slow, but still somehow full of passion. You were the one to pull back, and upon seeing the hurt in his eyes you touched his cheek. “I missed you.” You whispered, tears springing to your eyes. “I don’t want us to get a divorce either, but I don’t see how we can fix this.”
He took a deep breath. “We can.” He whispered back to you, his lips still dangerously close to yours.
You put a hand on his chest to stop him from leaning any closer. “How can you be so sure?”
He didn’t answer you, just looked at you with a seriousness in his deep brown eyes. “Do you still love me?”
“Of course I do, I never stopped.” You whispered, looking up at him.
“And I never stopped loving you, that’s how I know we’ll work this out.” He told you softly, taking the hand you had on his chest into his hand and placing a kiss to the palm. “It’s at least worth the try.”
You didn’t say anything for a moment, just continued to stare at him for a moment. You were starting to feel even dizzier than you were earlier, causing you to reach out and hold onto him to steady yourself.
“Y/N?” His voice was full of concern now and he was frowning, but he seemed miles away as your head started pounding more and more and the world went foggy. He was quick to pick you up and take you to the bed so you could sit down, him kneeling in front of you to check you out.
“I’m fine.” You waved him off but it was a weak attempt.
“You don’t seem fine, love.” Was his response as he looked at you, you were going pale and your eyes weren’t focused.
You forced a smile and waved your hand again. “You worry too much.” You said quietly. “It’s just a headache.”
“This doesn’t seem like just a headache.” He told you, pulling out his phone.
“What’re you doing?” You asked, frowning now.
“Calling for an ambulance.” He answered you, standing up as he put the phone to his ear.
“That’s not needed.” You stood up way too quickly, causing the world to spin and you to tumble towards the ground. You were thankful that he caught you before you hit the ground.
“It is needed.” He helped you sit back down.
You nodded weakly as you laid down on the bed, thinking it might be best if you did go back to the hospital and get checked, no matter how much you hated hospitals.
Next thing you knew, the world went dark.
It all happened so fast, the paramedics came in and loaded you onto the stretcher and took you to the hospital. Crockett followed behind in his car, worried sick about you.
When you were taken in you were examined right away and it was deemed that you suffered a concussion from the accident and that this was just an after effect of it, nothing to be too worried about but they wanted you to stay in the hospital overnight just in case.
This didn’t ease Crockett’s worries though, because you had fully passed out and still hadn’t woken up. Then again, that could be due to the fact that they had given you some pain medication to help ease the throbbing pain in your head.
He took a seat at your bedside and stayed there until your eyes started to open and you groaned, at which point he stood up and smiled down at you.
“Good morning, sleeping beauty.” He said softly, his hand finding yours, squeezing it gently. “You’re okay, but they’re going to keep you overnight just as a precaution.”
“I honestly don’t think I need to stay, I’m already feeling better.” You said as you tried to sit up.
Crockett shook his head. “It’s better to be safe than sorry.” He said as he gently pushed you back to a lying position.
You groaned and laid back, usually you wouldn’t give up this easily, but you were too exhausted to argue and told yourself that you’d stay the night and then leave in the morning. “Fine, whatever.” You grumbled as you let your eyes fall shut for a moment.
“Be honest, how are you feeling?” He asked gently as he took your hand in his again.
You shrugged slightly, opening your Y/EC eyes to look up at him. “Better than I was.”
“Good.” He said softly, releasing your hand before he sat back down. The room fell silent, and you could tell what he was thinking about, but you knew he wouldn’t bring it up with you in a hospital bed so it was up to you.
“There’s a condition.” You spoke up after a moment, thinking through everything and weighing your words.
He looked at you with a confused expression. “A condition?”
“To me staying.” You added softly, looking at him. “If you want me to stay, I’ll stay and we can try to work this out, but there’s one condition.”
His eyes lit up as he watched you. “I’m listening?”
“Marriage counseling.” You tell him. “If we’re going to make this work, we have to work through our issues and I think it would be easier to do that if we had help from a professional.”
He hesitated before nodding. “If that’s what it takes, then I’m all for it.” He said softly.
You smiled and reached out to him, wanting his hand in yours again.
He took your hand and smiled softly at you and for a moment everything was calm and felt right.
Then it dawned on you, it was already late afternoon when you got back to the hotel from coffee, what time was it now? You looked at him and it was obvious that he knew something was wrong.
“What is it?” He asked, the smile fading and being replaced by a look of concern.
“What time is it?” You asked, your question leaving him looking confused. “You said you have to be here early tomorrow, you need to go home and get some rest.”
He shook his head, a small chuckle escaping his lips. “I’m not leaving you.”
“You have to.” You insisted softly. “You need to get some rest otherwise you’ll be tired tomorrow.”
He looked at you for a moment before shaking his head.
“Damn it, Crockett, go home and get some sleep.” You huffed out at him. “I’ll be fine here.”
He shook his head to you again.
You glared at him for a moment. “Crockett Marcel you need to sleep. You told me earlier that you have to be here early tomorrow and it was already pretty late when we got coffee, I can only imagine what time it is now. It’s probably ten or eleven by now, so go.”
“It’s only a little after nine.” He told you after your little rant.
“That makes no difference.” You inform him stubbornly. “Go home and get some sleep, I’ll be fine. Please, for me?” Your voice softened as you added the last part and you looked at him with puppy eyes.
He looked at you for a long moment sighing and shaking his head. “You’re not going to win this time.”
You huffed and paused, then smiled. “Fine, then come here.” You said as you started tugging on his hand gently.
He stood up and stepped up to the bedside, raising a brow.
You scooted over and released his hand from yours to pat the empty spot next to you. “Since it seems that we can’t agree, this is a compromise.”
He carefully sat next to you, but was reluctant to lay down next to you, so you huffed and carefully pulled him down so that he was laying next to you. Instinctively, his arm went around your shoulders, pulling you to his side gently.
You smiled softly as you snuggled into him, laying your head on his chest. Maybe it was cliche, but being wrapped up in his arms with your head on his chest made you feel like you were home. You felt warm and happy and safe, so you let your eyes slip shut.
He placed a kiss to the top of your head, still holding you close to him.
“As nice as this is, I still think you should go home and get some real rest.” You whispered, looking up at him now.
He looked at you for a moment before a smirk formed on his face. “This is the first night I’ve had my wife in my arms in over seven years, there’s no way in hell I’m leaving, darling.”
You couldn’t help the smile and blush that found its way to your face, and you lost all will to argue with him anymore after hearing him say that. So you huffed a bit, trying to act upset even though you weren’t in the slightest, and laid your head back down on his chest. “Fine.”
He could tell you weren’t really upset, which just made the smirk grow as he laid back some.

~counting days, counting days since my love up and got lost on me~
7-8ish years ago
The two of you fell for each other hard. It started with a simple ‘hi’ and within two months the two of you were happily dating. He was older than you, but just by a bit. Soon enough three years passed by the two of you and you were still together, engaged and living together in fact. He was in med school and working part time, you were in college and working part time as well, so you both cherished the time you got to spend together.
Then you found out you were pregnant. It wasn’t really the best timing, with the two of you in a tiny apartment, just making ends meet. But the look on his face when you told him, it was enough to make all the worry go away, at least for a little bit. He knew things would be tough for a little while, but he swore that someday everything would be great.
He promised you that you’d have the wedding of your dreams as soon as the two of you were able to save up the money, and that the courthouse deal was just for now, just to get it out of the way.
And then Harper was born. She was the most precious and beautiful thing you’d ever laid eyes on. Everything was great for a little while, but it ended too soon. At three months she was diagnosed, and by the time she was a year, she was gone. It crushed the two of you.
And then he left you there. All alone. You went back to your tiny apartment to find that he wasn’t there. He stumbled in when the bars closed, and didn’t say a word when he fell into bed with you, didn’t hold you while silent tears streamed down your cheeks.
A month passed by like that before you had enough and finally packed your things while he was away and left. You left your key on the counter and walked out of the apartment you shared. You stayed with your best friend for a little while, she comforted you and made you feel a little better. But nothing could fill the hole inside your heart. You didn’t just lose your little girl, you lost your husband too. He had been your best friend once upon a time, your everything.
Present
You had moved on the best you could, every once in a while you would have a really bad day but you’ve been doing a lot better lately. You thought about Harper more than you did about Crockett, but every once in a while your mind wandered to him. Sometimes you’d find yourself wondering where he was, how he was doing, what he was doing at that specific time. You wondered if he ever went back to New Orleans, you had once in a while to visit Harper’s grave and to catch up with old friends.
But today you hadn’t even given him a thought, not until your phone rang and you were met with questions about him from a detective. That’s when you found out he was in Chicago, you wondered how long he’d been there, but you told yourself that you didn’t care.
The detective politely asked you to meet them in either Chicago or meet one of the detectives working the case in New Orleans. You were closer to Chicago so you told him that you’d meet him there, on the condition that you didn’t have to see your ex. He agreed that you wouldn’t have to.
So you went to Chicago, went to the police station and talked with the detectives, and as you were leaving you spotted him being brought in. You felt a mix of emotions, mostly anger and sadness, it was like the bandaid you stuck over the wounds you suffered all those years ago was ripped off and that the wound hadn’t healed at all.
His eyes finally found yours, a mix of shock and guilt in them, or at least that’s what it seemed like.
You turned on your heel to face the cop. “I thought you said I wouldn’t see him?” “I didn’t know they were bringing him in for further questioning today.” The detective barely gave you an apologetic look.
You huffed, annoyed, and turned away from him. If you wanted to leave, you’d have to walk right by him. Without even thinking about it, that’s what you did. You didn’t even look at him as you walked right past him.
The air outside was sort of warm, at least in the sun it was. It was a nice day, not overly hot and there was a nice breeze, and Chicago didn’t seem nearly as noisy as you expected it too.
You were just getting ready to walk over to a taxi to go back to the hotel when you felt a hand on your shoulder, causing you to turn and come face to face with him.
“What do you want?” You couldn’t help the bite to your tone, you were feeling all the pain of so many years ago come rushing back.
The look on his face told you that he hadn’t expected that tone. “I want to talk.”
“I have nothing to say to you, Crockett.”
“I’m not the one who left.”
That was a low blow. “You might not have physically left me, but you did abandon me when I needed you the most.” And with that you turned and hurried over to the taxi. The minute you got to the hotel you called the detective and told him that if he had any more questions for you, he’d have to call you to ask them because you were going home. You then gathered what stuff you did bring with you and loaded it into your own car (which you had left at the hotel because of not knowing your way around Chicago) and began to drive.
Maybe it was because you weren’t paying attention, or maybe it was because the other driver was texting. You were certain you had the green light, that you were in the right. But that didn’t matter. They plowed into the side of your car, on the drivers side. As you slipped in and out of consciousness, you could hear sirens, then someone’s voice, a male, saying they were going to get you out.
As they wheeled you into the hospital, they read off your stats.
Natalie was the one to notice the look on his face, and gave him a look as they examined you. “Do you know her?”
“Yeah, she’s my wife.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~
He had to be forced away from you, since the two of you were still technically married, and he didn’t calm down until he was told that you were okay, that you just suffered minor injuries despite the damage done to your car. The most worrisome injury was a gash to your head, but a few days of observation and you would be able to go home.
He was gathering his things when Natalie walked in. He knew she was about to bombard him with questions, so he turned.
“Crockett.” She stopped him, taking a hastened step forward.
He turned to look at her, an exhausted look on his face.
“So she’s your wife?” Was the first question out of her mouth
He nodded once.
“Harper’s mom?”
“Look, I don’t really wanna talk about this, especially not now.”
She seemed to get it because she nodded and shut up.
He turned and walked out, going up to your room and taking a seat next to your bed, waiting for you to wake up
Hey everybody! So here’s an update on what I’ll be posting in the next week! (By next Monday)
The fifth chapter of Bruises (Crockett Marcel x Reader)
A currently untitled Jay Halstead x Voight!Reader (not sure if this will be a one shot or another series, I’ll figure it out after I finish it up) (Which will be HEAVILY AU because I haven’t watched all of Chicago PD and have limited knowledge of what has happened in the show, although I feel like this is a good idea? Idk)
Would anyone be interested in a sort of spin off of Bruises? Or a story that is kinda similar where the reader is Crockett’s ex?
