Holding onto you
Pairing: Callie Torres x reader
Summary: not sure lol
there aren’t enough Callie fics and throughout the show she had some pretty rough relationships, so here’s some fluff for the Dr. Torres. It’s kinda nothing then smut then fluff, this will be a multi part story!
Warning: Smut!
Tumblr media
******************************************************** you pulled your car into the long drive way climbing out and fumbling to find your house keys.
you opened the door and looked around the house that was eerily quiet all the lights were still out. You went around flicking on the lights, “Callie?” You called but no answer.
“Callie, baby are you here?” No answer so you walked back out and saw her car sitting in your shared driveway.
“that’s weird, where is she?” You whispered to yourself and crept your way up the stairs. You peaked in your bedroom and then saw the note taped to the door, big trauma I was called in, welcome home my love.
You had been away for a conference but decided that you were ready to go back to work so you changed your clothes and made your way to Grey Sloan. The storms were raging as you drove to the hospital, rain beat down on your windshield, you parked and ran in through the front doors. The receptionist at the desk perked up, “how can I help you?”
“Hey
” before you could finish she recognized you and directed you to the OR where Callie was currently operating. You quickly thanked her and ran to change into a clean and dry pair of scrubs.
as the elevator doors slid open you stepped through straightening out your clothing with your hands, you made your way to the gallery only to be greeted by a curious group of interns watching your wife operate. You sat down next to the group, “so any updates?” you asked and started talking to the small group. Part way through the conversation one of the girls recognized you, “Oh my God
your Y/N Devine like doctor Y/N Devine!”
“well yes and no” you chuckled with a small smirk.
“What do you mean yes and no?
I’ve watched your techniques, I tried to get into Harvards program just to study under you.”
“way to suck up there Jo
” some of the other girls scoffed.
“well I mean yes as in I am her same person same skills but no as in I’m married now so I technically hyphenated my last name but I don’t ever go by that or Devine anymore
Also I would like to clarify that I no longer teach at Harvard I accepted an attending position here.”
“Are you the new head of trauma?” A red haired woman spun around.
“Yes ma’am.” You gave a small grimace and smile.
“No that’s a good thing, April Kepner I’m actually one of your residents.” She reached her hand out and you shook it.
“Good to know.” Just then Miranda Bailey stepped into the room and all the interns shot back forward.
“Ahh Miranda Bailey, she’s still got it.” You laughed.
“Y/N Devine-Torres, does your wife know you’re up here?”
“I don’t believe so, looks like she’s tapping out though so better go find her before someone else does
”
“go getcha girl, good to have you back.” She laughed as you left. All the interns shocked at the fact that your “wife” was none other than Dr. Calliope Torres.
you ran down to the locker room where you figured she would be changing. You knocked on the heavy wooden door, “knock knock anyone home?” You asked playfully slipping in. You found her pulling her shirt over her head next to her locker, which held a couple pictures of you and her, Sofia, the three of you along with her stethoscope and a few other necessities. She turned to you and made a sad face letting out a whine and letting her shoulders drop.
“I’m so so sorry that I couldn’t be home
”
“I know baby I know.” You said pulling her into an embrace placing kisses on her lips.
“rough night?” You whispered in between kisses.
“you wouldn’t believe me if I told you.”
“Mmm so don’t tell me just let me take you home, relieve some of that stress
that tension.” You said running expert hands over her strong arms and shoulders.
She bit her lip, her eyes darkening by watching yours, “whatever you say
Y/N Devine” she said all airy and mocking the girls earlier.
“that is Dr. Torres to you.” You said placing a bruising kiss on her lips.
the car ride home was quiet, you could feel the gentle anticipation coming in waves. You parked and walked up to your shared house gently leading her through the door. Setting all your bags down keeping an eye as she went into the kitchen, you walked up behind her hands massaging the muscles ghosting kisses on the back of her neck as she leaned her head back into you. You grabbed her hand and guided her upstairs to your bedroom, grabbing her shirt and pulling her close, starting to strip her clothes pulling her closer and closer until she was completely bare, letting your hands grasp at her curves and muscles quick breathes and smirks shared in between heated kisses, you ran skilled fingers all over her body before pushing her back her knees meeting the bed.
“looks like someone couldn’t wait for me to get home.” You said slyly.
“your my wife of course I can’t wait for you to get home
she said suggestively, as she scooted back the bed, you were on all fours over her heated kisses being trailed across her body. For awhile you made out letting your hands roam the heat intensifying as you kissed every part of her body.
“Y/N, mi amor.” She whined as you nipped at her neck then replacing the bite with a kiss.
“yes my love?” You asked moving down to her chest nipping the soft skin and then placing kisses, leaving a kiss right in between her breast while looking up to make eye contact.
“I need you
” you worked your way back up to her mouth, your hand sneakily going between her legs, fingers ghosting her inner thigh.
“mm, what do you need love?”
“Uh
” she inhaled sharply with a whine, “you I need you.” She exhaled into your kiss, your fingers sliding through as you felt how wet she was.
“what she wants she gets
” you left one more bruising kiss before sliding down in between her legs, you didn’t waste much time and it wasn’t long before her moans filled the room. Your hand pumping as your mouth worked wonders, before you knew it she had hit her high. As you placed kisses up and down her legs she sat up pulling you into her lap, you wrapped your bare legs around her and she could feel how wet you were, how much you ached.
“You know I always knew you had that last name for a reason
 Dr.Devine.”
“mmhm, too bad I changed it.”
“must’ve been a special one.”
“yeah, more than special, she’s pretty amazing, the ONE, the only one.”
She chuckled, “well then
my turn, show you how amazing I am
” she said teasing you her hand sliding in to give you more teasing action. She turned and laid you on the bed your legs still wrapped around her waist, you unhooked them, still holding with your knees as she got up.
she walked over to the closet and was digging until she pulled out the strap, you but your lip as she walked back over to you, she sat next to you pulling you back into her lap, one hand was on her face as you kissed her while the other held onto the top of the headboard.
at first she moved slowly grinding into each other but before long she had you on your back legs over her shoulders as she railed you, loud moans filling the room, good thing your neighbors weren’t to close by.
“mi amor, absolutely beautiful, if only I could put a baby in you, see you glow as you carried our baby.” That sent you over the edge.
A little while later you found yourselves wrapped in each others arms legs tangled, the bed in disarray, you laid your head on her chest as she held you.
You were being quiet, Callie reached over brushing some curls out of your face, “Y/N what’s on your mind?”
“Hmm..” you pulled out of your daze.
“where did you go?”
“no where.”
“you’re being quiet
 what’s wrong?”
“nothings wrong, just thinking.”
“About what baby?”
“Well,” you said sitting up next to her, she looked up at you until she saw how nervous you were, scooting up to prop on the headboard next to you.
“baby what’s wrong?” She said getting more concerned, she ran a gentle hand over your leg as you faced her.
“were you serious?”
“about?”
“the baby, me being pregnant?
with our baby.” You looked into her deep eyes.
“I
uh
 to far? I’m sorry if
”
“no, no, I want a baby.”
“really?”
“I mean yea, I know with Sofia and all and Arizona and the whole situation that it’s not easy, but I want a baby I want little mini us’s running around.”
“Y/N is that what you were so nervous about?”
“yea i thought maybe you were just saying it but then i got thinking and
”
“baby,” she said cutting you off, “I would love to have a baby with you, I was serious. You would look gorgeous carrying our baby and I wouldn’t want to do it with anyone else, you’re more than just my wife, my best friend, love of my life
and besides Sofia would love having a sibling.” She said leaning up to kiss you.
“so you wanna have a baby?” You chuckled into her kiss.
“yes love I wanna have a baby.” She said placing rapid kisses on your lips and pulling you into an embrace as you both giggled.

in a manner of speaking
heyyyy there, i finally managed to finish this little piece that has been in my mind for a while. in my head, this is what happened to japril after they leave for interviews in 8x20. i really am enjoying writing this snippets so much; of course, life happens so I can't be as quick as i'd want to, but still i hope you enjoy it đŸ«¶đŸ»
thank youuuuuuu
here a little preview for you 💗
"You know what? If they never send your suitcase back, I’ll contact the Foundation’s best lawyer and we’ll sue them for two million dollars. Maybe this is your chance to become a rich, handsome surgeon like me," he joked, and the sneering ha-ha she served him in return confirmed the mood had lightened at last.
in a manner of speaking
"This is already going badly. This is a sign from above; I'm telling you, Jackson" — he looked at her, half amused, half concerned — "I am telling you! I don't have my folders, thanks to Cristina, and now I don't even have my good suit, thanks to the stupid airline, or the flight attendant, or whatever incompetent baggage handler was supposed to look after my—"
"April! April, calm down! You're going to give yourself a heart attack. Actually, you're going to give ME a heart attack! Please, let's take a break for a moment."
He was a bit frustrated but not truly angry. Jackson knew well that she was the anxious type, so it only made sense that she would freak out when her suitcase was slightly delayed. We know it’s an inconvenience, ma’am, but we’ll send it to your hotel later tonight. You and your belongings will be reunited by 7 a.m. tomorrow at the latest, we promise.
Of course, that promise meant absolutely nothing to April, who had already contemplated the possibility of being interviewed in her underwear. What thought process had led her to consider that scenario even remotely plausible? Jackson had no idea.
"April, listen to me," he said, slowly stroking her shoulders. "There’s nothing more we can get from them. Let’s check in at the hotel and grab something to eat. We can order takeout or stop at a place nearby—either works for me. Your call."
"Takeout," she said, defeat in her voice, her big eyes slightly downturned. "I'm sorry for putting you through this, really. You've got your big interview tomorrow, too. It’s just... why do these things always happen to me? What if my suitcase never arrives?"
When they entered the hotel lobby, April was definitely calmer; still worried about her perfect interview suit being missing, of course, but now more focused on the food they were about to order in a few minutes.
"Good evening, Mr.—"
"Dr. Avery, and this is Dr. Kepner. We have two rooms booked for tonight."
"Yes, I see the bookings here," the receptionist said. "As requested, the rooms are on the same floor. In fact, they’re right next to each other." She added, after checking their IDs and handing them two keycards.
April chuckled as they walked toward the elevator.
"I bet you regret asking for the rooms to be on the same floor now. What if I go nuts in the middle of the night and come banging at your door, screaming for my suitcase?"
"In that case, I’ll double-lock myself in so I’m not assaulted by a crazy woman with no clean clothes."
"Oh my God, I don’t have any clean clothes! I don’t even have my night socks!" she exclaimed, her voice rising an octave—again.
"I don’t know about night socks, but I’ve got an extra pair of regular socks you can borrow. And also a pair of jogging shorts and a t-shirt, if you want. They’re not your size, for sure, but you just need them to sleep in, not to do a fashion show so..."
"Thank you, Jackson. I’m not really in a position to refuse any clean clothes. They’ll do their job fan-ta-sti-cal-ly."
Once they reached their floor, she entered Jackson’s room and waited for him to search through his suitcase. It didn’t take long though; he packed his stuff so neatly that April had to roll her eyes.
"Nice, there are plenty of takeout flyers here - she indicated the bedsite table - How do you feel about pizza?"
"Pizza will certainly do", he replied as he handed her the clothes.
She took them a bit too fiercefully and he laughed a little, "Perfect, you're calling then - I now have a date with the shower. The usual is fine for me, Jackson!", he heard her say while closing his bedroom's door.
"We can never be bored here", he muttered under his breath, and looked for the pizza flyer.
When he knocked on her door half an hour later, she was showered and dressed. Well, covered at least. His shorts looked a bit ridiculous on her, but she wasn’t really paying attention to her appearance. "Finally. Were you making the pizza from scratch?", her impatience evident. "Hey, you’re only dressed because of me and you’re only going to eat because I called for the pizza. I deserve some respect here."
He entered her room with the pizza in one hand and a bottle of red in the other. "Pizza and wine? Where did you get that?" "At the hotel bar. And shush, I don't want to hear any complaints: if you know how to select the right one, wine can go with everything. Come on, let’s eat, and grab the two glasses they put in the bathroom."
"Don’t put the pizza on the bed, Jackson!" she shouted from the bathroom. "Give me some credit, April, I’m not a caveman." "Aren’t you? All this time living with Alex should have taught you a thing or two." That remark made him laugh; she really couldn’t stand Alex’s lifestyle.
"How much do I owe you for all of this?" she asked, gesturing at the food. "Don’t worry about it; this delightful treat is on me. You’ve already had a stressful evening." "But—" "Hey, be quiet and eat your pizza."
He then changed the subject and asked if she was prepping for tomorrow’s interview, noticing the computer and notebook open on the bed behind them— they were both sitting next to each other on the carpet. "Yeah. Luckily, I had my computer bag with me. I would’ve gone full-on crazy if they’d delayed that as well." She did go full-on crazy earlier, but Jackson felt it was safer not to mention it. He poured the wine, and she made a toast.
"To my interview in your jogging shorts." "At least now you’re not doing it in your underwear." "They’d probably think this—" she gestured to her outfit, "is the worst walk of shame outfit ever." "I’m taking away the pizza now." He jokingly moved the pizza box away from her, so her pretend apology arrived while taking a big bite of a slice. "Oh no, no, I’m sorry. This Tuxedomoon t-shirt with these weirdly shaped geometric doodles is so fitting for a job interview. They’ll love it, for sure." "You’d be showing off your great knowledge with this t-shirt." "About? Some secret code only rich kids get? What is this Tuxedomoon, anyway? The name of your fancy frat house in college?" "Oh my God, you’re such a loser. Tuxedomoon is a very cool post-punk band from San Francisco. They’re amazing." "Post-punk?" The shockwas evident on her face; the mockery too. "Are you really telling me you’re a post-punk kind of guy, or were you just posing as the mysterious freakish gloomy kid to hit on the edgy, maverick chick?" "I don’t need disguises to hit on anyone, maverick or not," he remarked cockily, throwing a small cushion at her. "And Tuxedomoon is really cool. Here, let me show you. This one’s famous—I bet you know it." The excitement in Jackson’s voice made her roll her eyes again. Before the pizza arrived, April had still been stuck in her head, thinking about her lost suit and the interview and what they would think of her unwashed, flight-worn clothes. But now, she was feeling better; definitely more at ease. This wine works magic, she thought, while her friend jumped on the bed to find that obviously very famous song. He was dorky in his own way; super handsome and often unsurprisingly charming - she could not deny it - but he had his little funny quirks. At least I’m not the only weird one in this room.
When the music started, the rhythm seemed distantly familiar to her. She bobbed her head to the tune; it wasn’t bad, actually, until the singer opened his mouth. April couldn’t hide her grin. The man’s voice was too odd for her taste, and it ruined the otherwise beautiful song. "Jackson, how can you like his voice?" "Why? What’s wrong with it?" He sounded slightly offended. "It’s... I don’t know. It’s weird, like he’s singing with his throat inflamed or something. It makes me laugh a little. Sorry, you can't have your way with me! Your great post-punk band does not impress me, but —" "Whatever, your loss." He knew she didn’t mean it that way, but for half a second, the words I could have my way with you crossed his mind. Gross, Jackson. Unbelievably gross. She’s your friend—and a virgin. "BUT, if you please allow me to finish, I actually know the song. Well, I know a better version of it. One that would definitely impress the ladies more." She winked at him while grabbing the computer to play it, and he snorted because the gesture was silly, and because he sincerely doubted that her version could top his in any way. The music began again, this time with a gentler melody, soft guitar, and a low hum. April's shoulders started moving to the rhythm, and she felt the urge to sing a little, dance a little, do something a little. They both drifted into the singer's silky voice when April suddenly stood up, grinning, and belted out the chorus. They lived together, so Jackson had heard her sing before—sometimes in the shower, other times when she had her headphones on. She wasn’t professionally trained, but she had a pleasant voice. Still, this April was different. When she stood up, she forgot about the interview, about the delayed suitcase and, for an instant, she even forgot Jackson was there. It all faded into the background. It took only this instant of forgetfulness - convincing herself she was somehow alone - to make her body move freely. She was singing the chorus, gently touching her hair and neck with one hand, and gripping his oversized, ridicolous shorts she was wearing with the other. It was all very spontaneous; she wasn't paying attention to him, nor was she thinking about her movements - she was only doing. But Jackson was paying attention and, even more, he was thinking; he was thinking the unthinkable and the absurd. The word sultry came to his mind. ï»żThe song had a sensuality to it, and April —well, okay, she's hot. She is. It's not like I want her to be hot, she just is. I'm a guy, I cannot not see it. I'm allowed to think that of a friend, it's called being honest.
Was he, really, allowed though? He felt it in his guts, for a second, but shoved it aside as soon as it arose. She's just having fun, Jackson told himself. There's nothing more to it. She's not flirting with you, she's not trying to seduce you. She's having fun. Let her have fun. And don't be weird. Then, she locked eyes with him, and that instant split in two: two separate moments, inestricably connected, occurring one after the other in an overly rapid succession. It was impossibly brief, but in that fleeting moment, Mark Sloan’s words echoed in her mind: I think I could take this one for the team; I think I can; I think I want to. She had never done anything like it before, but she knew she could seduce him. She would seduce him. She was seducing him already. His parted lips and half-closed eyes confirmed it. In that very moment, something happened in the pit of her stomach: a sudden emptiness and a curious warmth; and then, the warm sensation filled the emptiness. This - this isn't right, right? This doesn't happen, April. Don't make a fool of yourself. We're having a good time here, you don't get to ruin it with crazy thoughts. Have a good time. She blinked - the two moments made the one instant. While her eyes locked with Jackson's, that first moment made room for the second, and the whole instant passed, as quickly as it came. "See?" she smiled, snapping back to herself without almost not realizing it. "This version is so much better. Way more soothing. It’s a vibe." "Yeah, well, I didn’t know bossa nova made its way to Moline. I thought farm girls only went for country music and folk ballads." She snatched a slice of pizza from his hand and sat back down beside him. The amount of space between them had never felt really significant—until now. Now, somehow, they could not ignore its presence — or the lack of. "You know, you’re pretty narrow-minded for a big-city boy." "Let’s hope your interviewers tomorrow aren’t narrow-minded when they see you wearing my jogging shorts." She playfully slapped his arm, and they both laughed, sharing more pizza and red, pushing all their thoughts - including those about the next day’s interviews - away from their minds.

S2 E11 Playthings - A classic, creepy girls in a creepy hotel. Special call out to Sam getting SLOPPY
S2 E16 Roadkill - There's a ghost haunting the highway. the Boys help the spirit move on. This is an early example of monster empathy
S2 E18 Hollywood Babylon - Dean loves hollywood. I love dean. this episode makes me kick my feet like a little girl and i will not defend myself.
S2 EP 20 What Was Shall Never Be - all I have in my notes for this one is "Dean Djinn Dream" which was enough for me to remember the episode and get misty eyes. This is SEASON 2 my son will never know peace.
S3 E5 Bedtime Stories -I had to check the wiki on this one, I think i liked it cause it referenced classic fairytales
S3 Ep11 Mystery Spot - "HEAT OF THE MOMENT" RISE AND SHINE SAMMY!
S3 E13 Ghostfacers! - Im a Facer through and through
S3 E16 No Rest for the Wicked - S3 finale and the Boys are facing consequences! Classic Dean, Sam and Bobby episode.
S4 E1 Lazerus Rising - First Cas Episode. That handprint makes me feel things.
S4 E6 Yellow Fever - What if Dean had anxiety (The Eye of the Tiger blooper is also at the end of the episode which gives it bonus points.
S4 E17 Wishful Thinking - Make a wish? was it for your teddy bear to be diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder? Well thats what youre getting!
S4 E17 It's a Terrible Life - Sam ~ the sales rep. Dean ~ middle management.
S4 E18 The Monster at the End of the Book - There are books about Sam and Dean?! Written by this guy who loves self insert character? Surely the entire show isn't about to take a tone shift?
S5 E3 Free to be You and Me - Sam and Dean are fighting again, but this time Dean has a new heavenly boy toy to play with instead. (Cas has no rizz yet it's actually a little painful to watch)
S5 E5 Fallen Idol - Okay the Wax People episode is on here for one reason and one reason only. Paris Hilton.
S5 E7 The Curious Case of Dean Winchester - Old man Dean and old man Bobby. This is also the episode for HH Husk kinnies.
S5 E8 Changing Channels - Dr Sexy MD is that you?!
S5 E9 The Real Ghostbuster - *in a grizzly voice* "I'm Dean Winchester, this is my brother Sam. Have you experienced anything strange?" "Dude that was so good! Now we can go solve the puzzle" "Man you're breaking the immersion!"
S5 E10 Abandon All Hope - This is here for Crowley's first appearance and not because the end will make you cry.
S5 E12 Swap Meat - "uh... its Audi Nos". Freaky Friday starring Sam Winchester! An angsty teen and April Kepner from Grey/Sloan Memorial Hospital.

S7 E4 Defending your Life - consequences? for fucking people over? how about you stand trial.
S7 E20 The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo - The self insert character made for us :) Luv u 4ever Charlie XD
S8 E4 Bitten - found footage will always scare. this one reminds me that this show started as a psuedo horror.
S8 E8 hunteri heroci - Cas tries his hand at being a hunter
S8 E12 As Time Goes By - FINALLY THEY ARE CARVING TRAPS INTO BULLETS
S8 E17 Goodbye Stranger - verbatim here are my notes for this episode "Cas chooses Dean, but the way he handles Meg... Fuck Naomi"
S8 E18 Clip Show - If you only want to watch just one episode of Supernatural this should be it. It's not actually a clip show, theres a broment, bonding time with favorite characters and crazy plots that only supernatural could get away with.
S9 E5 Dog Dean Afternoon - Dean is finally a dog person
S9 E11 First Born - Another bro fight leads to shipping <3 SamxCas + DeanxCrowley <3
S9 E15 #thinman - the slender episode feat. GHOSTFACERS. You come away from this episode thinking "supernatural is so fucking gay why wont the boys kiss"
S9 E21 King of the Damned - my favorite crowley era change my mind. Also the way the Boys interrogate an angel is so funny
S10 E5 Fan Fiction - I would unironically fuck w a supernatural musical and if helluva/hazbin taught me anything the rest of you would too
S10 E6 Ask Jeeves - The Clue episode. (Pay attention to the improvised weapons Dean chooses. It brings me joy)
S10 E9 The Things we Left Behind - Cas is suffering a midlife crisis and his besties are there to help him repair his relationship with his daughter. Funnily enough, Crowley is also getting some family bonding in.
Okay, I'm all caught up on my list. Should I have stayed up late transcribing this with an 8am class tommarow?
Probably not but it did bring me great joy. Tell me your favorite episode! I'll continue to add to my list as I continue my rewatch :)

Wish I could turn you back into a stranger
"Cautiously, he sits beside her and stays silent. They've been so distant these past weeks, haven't shared more than a few sentences ever since she moved out of his place, that he knows better than trying to touch her to comfort her. He even wonders if she would be comforted by him, and the thought makes him sick."
Set in season 14. April treats a patient that brings back memories, and Jackson goes on a hunt. One shot.

Note: Sometimes you want to write sweet, tooth-rotting fluff, and sometimes you just want to embrace the angst and lean into it. Guess which option I chose.
trigger warning: child loss, grief, abysmal communication.
Oh, and even though this takes place at the beginning of season 14, Stephanie is still there, just roll with it.
___
“Edwards, Wilson, you’re on plastics again tomorrow. Deluca, you're free to join us in the burn center?” “Sorry Dr. Avery, I'm with Dr. Kepner in the ER all day again tomorrow.” Jackson nods to show he's heard the resident’s answer and starts reviewing the paperwork for the procedures he’s done today. The burn center, once Mark Sloan's brainchild, is something he's very attached to, and perhaps the only department for which he doesn't mind managing the admin side, even after a long day of gruesome surgeries, which mobilized most of the residents and several attendings. Next to him, at the nurses' counter, Deluca stops where Jo and Stephanie are charting and where Arizona, who operated on a 10-year-old burn victim with him, is reviewing a file. Deep in his paperwork, Jackson hears them more than he listens to their conversation. “If you're too busy to help us, go away,” Stephanie grumbles. “I’m just waiting for some lab results, and then I’m back in the pit. I still have to log more hours in trauma. Which is great, because something cool always happens when you're on Dr Kepner's shift in the ER. She has the coolest cases,” Deluca gushes, and Jackson thinks to himself while signing a form, what is it with Deluca that he always sounds like an enthusiastic golden retriever?

💛 & OTP: I want the whole damn thing
💛 Reunion Kiss/Relief
Jackson's an interminably long board meeting when it happens, trying to make sense of the world's most boring financial presentation, so he doesn't immediately notice the news bulletin popping up on his phone. It's only when they start hearing voices in the corridor and someone runs past the board room window that they all start to realise something's going on, and Jackson suddenly catches sight of the blinking red notification on his phone screen.
"Multi-car pile up," he explains shortly to the board, already on his feet and heading for the door, scrolling down for more information. "I'm guessing we're the nearest hospital - it's gonna be all hands on deck, so if you're qualified to hold a scalpel, get down to the pit."
(Frank, still holding the clicker for his presentation, looks thoroughly relieved that his only qualification is in accountancy.)
Halfway down the corridor, Jackson stops dead. A cold shiver run down his spine and it feels like his stomach has dropped out of him entirely as he sees the location of the accident. That's April's route to work.
Immediately he brings up her number and dials - but it goes straight to voicemail, and he wants to be sick. He shoots her off a quick text and then tries ringing again and again as he heads down to the E.R.
Each time it goes to voicemail.
He tries to tell himself not to panic. The phone lines are probably horrendously busy with people trying to contact emergency services or friends and family to make sure they're alright, and April not answering might just mean she's not looking at her phone. She's probably trying to help, if she is near there.
He tells himself that, but all he can think of is Ben calling him, telling him he was going to have to perform a C-section on April in her kitchen, of April quarantined behind glass, of watching April on the operating table of Grey-Sloan.
(How much luck can one person have?)
"Pick up, damn it!" he shouts as her voicemail message plays again, and a nurse passing jumps in fright.
"Dr Avery? Is everything okay?"
"I'm sorry, I'm just - I'm worried about my wife."
The word slips out automatically, and it's only after he says it that he remembers that, technically, April isn't his wife any more. Because he was stupid enough to divorce her. They're not even dating, despite the fact that they've been living together since they came to Boston, are raising Harriet together.
And yet he never really stopped thinking of her in that way, did he? Even when they were separated, when he was dating other women, when she was marrying someone else, he still thought of her as his.
"Has a woman called April Kepner been brought in? Late thirties, red hair?"
The nurse shakes her head. "I don't think so - not that I've seen. I'll check for you."
She scurries away, but before Jackson can follow or try to ring April again he's stopped and asked for a consult, and then another, and another, and then he gets pulled into a surgery and loses all track of time.
The whole way through he's repeating silently, Please, God. Please let her be okay. Please let me get another chance. I promise I won't waste this one.
His faith still isn't as strong as April's, he doubts it ever will be. Half the time he's not even really sure what it is he believes in. But it's comforting to pray, whether anyone's listening or not.
When he's finally finished and comes back out into the corridor, he immediately pulls his phone out. It's been nearly five hours, and there's still nothing from April. He wants to scream.
And then -
"There's no signs of internal bleeding, but get a CT scan just to be sure."
He spins round, his heart in his throat. April's just coming out of a patient room with an intern; she's in jeans an a tshirt instead of scrubs, dirt and what looks like splashes of blood staining them, her hair scraped back and a band-aid on her forehead, but she's alive and whole and the most beautiful thing Jackson's ever seen.
"April?"
"Jackson, there you are!" Her face lights up as she turns and sees him. Relief crashing over him, he starts running towards her. "I tried to find you but they said you were in surgery. I came with one of the -"
He cuts her off by pulling her into his arms and soundly kissing her. How she got here doesn't really seem to matter any more, just that she is here and uninjured.
She lets out a little sound of shock, and then melts into him the way she always has, her hands coming up to clutch at his scrubs. The feel of her lips is achingly familiar against his, and he rains kisses down on them, one after another, trying to make up for every time he should have kissed her but didn't. And his heart sings as she lifts herself up on tip-toes and kisses him back, meeting each stroke of his mouth with one of her own.
Finally he pulls back, but only enough to rest his forehead against hers.
"You weren't answering your phone," he says quietly.
"I was doing triage at the scene, and then the battery died. I'm sorry."
"You're alright?"
"Totally fine. I promise."
For the first time since he saw the notification on his phone, he starts to relax.
"Dr Avery?" Glancing up, he sees the nurse he was talking to earlier at the end of the corridor. "You found your wife, then?"
Jackson looks down at April, who's smiling knowingly up at him, a warmth in her eyes that gives him the confidence to reply, "Yeah. Yeah, I did."

I don't know how to phrase this but what I've been thinking recently about what if there was a girl in place of Stephanie who was dating Jackson and after they broke up because he ran off with April and she put her career in jeopardy and almost lost her license because she couldn't focus at work and Jackson feels really guilty but had to deliberate on firing her because he's on the boardïżŒ
consequences
✧ pairing: jackson avery x female reader
☟ genre: angst
✧ warnings: none
☟ check out my grey's anatomy masterlist here
✧ a/n: this one is long overdue, im sorry !! still. i hope you'll like it <3
it was not what you expected to happen. never in your life you thought that you would witness a wedding where the bride ran off with someone. and that someone was your boyfriend.
jackson ran away with april kepner on her wedding day.
you met jackson when you started your internship at grey-sloan memorial. of course he was charming. he was sweet and has those captivating eyes. then somehow you ended up being his date to dr. bailey's wedding.
every moment you had spent with him was special. he made you feel better. he made you feel happy. he made you feel assured.
but when he stood up on that day, it was dreadful. you didn't know how and what to feel.
so, here you are now. alone walking in the halls of the hospital. with all those sad glances and them telling you deserve way much better.
you tried your best to focus on your work. when the both of came back like nothing had happened, it took a toll on you.
you tried your best to be professional. but you couldn't help but to feel hurt and humiliated at the same time. you were so sure of jackson being a part of the rest of your life.
you knew that this would certainly affect your performance as a doctor. so when you were put on under kepner's service you wanted to curse the chief resident for putting you up with her.
the one who ran away with your boyfriend.
you couldn't help to act so unprofessional. you deliberately stole the traumas incoming and accidentally endangering a patient's life for your pettiness.
"DR. L/N!" owen shouted to get your attention.
"i think you need to take a break. you're on scut duty after your break."
throwing out the gloves you wore, you ran to an on-call room.
when you came back, it was jackson who you saw. he approached you.
"i need to talk to you. privately dr. l/n."
you followed him to his office. it was a very quiet and tense walk.
he motioned you to take a seat and handed you an envelope.
"i'm sorry to tell you that you've been fired from this hospital. this is due to the fact that there are reports that you have been unprofessional during duty and endangered a patient's life."
"y/n...this is... really hard to do. so here."
he slid another envelope towards you. "this is a recommendation from my mother. this incident will not be put on your record."
you looked at the envelope and back at him.
"i don't need that."
"you don't even need to do that."
"you-you're just doing this out of pity dr. avery. i can very much handle myself."
standing up from the chair, you walk towards the door and mutter.
"i hope you and dr. kepner will live a happy life dr. avery."

Nothing will top the original cast of Grey's Anatomy, with one notable exception. May I introduce Dr. April Kepner.

I fell in love with April instantly, and then she just kept getting better and better. The anxious, awkward resident. The self-assured, passionate trauma attending. The brave, badass army surgeon.

Does it help that she's one half of the hottest couple on TV? Yes, absolutely. But mostly, I admire her unbelievable strength in the face of adversity.

April always tries to be true to herself and stand up for what she believes in. I love every iteration of her character.

Sarah Drew To Headline New Series ‘Mistletoe Murders’ For Hallmark Media - Deadline
Tumblr media
EXCLUSIVE: Sarah Drew – best known for playing fan favorite Dr. April Kepner on Grey’s Anatomy – is about to headline her own series for Hallmark Media.
Drew has been cast as Emily Lane in Mistletoe Murders, which is based on the Audible global hit podcast of the same name. Emily is described as smart, tough, and observant, but also kind, empathetic, and charming with a great — albeit dry — sense of humor.
When Emily isn’t busy running her charming small-town Christmas-themed store, “Under the Mistletoe,” she finds herself compelled to investigate local murders with the help of handsome local police detective and his teen daughter. On the surface, Emily is a perfectly lovely, good-natured mystery lover – but she is hiding a secret past that, if exposed, threatens to destroy the new life she has built in Fletcher’s Grove.

PROMPTS FOR LIES, DECEIT, AND VILLAINY
Tumblr media
@mastermicd: "I don't believe a word of what you just said." (From April)
Tumblr media
House leans back in his chair, his blue eyes narrowing as he studies Dr. Kepner.
"Of course you don’t."
When he finally speaks, his tone is laced with sarcasm. House stands up and limps slightly as he makes his way to the whiteboard, which is full of their patient’s symptoms, written by yours truly.
Tumblr media
"Why would you? You’re programmed to see the best in people and believe in happy endings--but newsflash, Kepner, the world doesn’t work that way."

Ok ok, I'm loving the Grey's Anatomy bashing. 😂
Your top 5 of worst storylines/moments.
And top 5 of worst characters.
OK - some disclaimers:
I've only seen up to season 12, episode? when Jackson and April stupidly slept together again. So my knowledge is based on this and a handful of future episodes I've seen. [I'm quite confident some of the stuff in the future is even worse.]
This is subject to change. Not gonna lie. I dislike A LOT of characters and A LOT of plots, so this could change with my mood or if the pizza I'm having for dinner gives me heartburn.
I want to change "WORST" to "MY LEAST FAVORITE." Why? Because this is my opinion. The people and plots I'm going to mention maybe some people's favorites, and that's their right. I'm not the all-knowing-anything, so just because it's my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions... Telling you in advance many will not like my answers.
My Five Least Liked Characters In no particular order.
Callie Torres. I wanted to like Callie. I did. She's Latina, she's bisexual, and she's not the conventional body type hyped on TV shows. There were so many reasons I wanted to like her. But I could not. She is also whiny, self-centered, and acts like a freaking 2-year-old. Some scenes make my cringes cringe. I almost feel guilty typing this out because now that I do, I realize that describes 90% of the characters on Grey's, but Callie did it really well. To add insult to injury, she was the main focus of that "musical" episode which had me contemplating checking myself in for a psych observation for even watching it. This leads me to...
Arizona Robbins. See above about whiny, self-centered, and acting like a two-year-old. But add to it consistently cheating on the person she's supposed to love. Babe, if you can't stay faithful, find someone willing to be poly. Maybe you'd be nicer that way? Who knows. Now, if not for "Calzona," these two may not have made my top 5. But their relationship was so horribly toxic that it made me dislike them as individuals even more. Sorry. Not sorry.
Owen Hunt. First of all, if you fuck with Christina Yang, you fuck with me. Second, see above about whiny, self-centered, and acting like a two-year-old, but let's add being an absolutely dreadful partner to the list. The way he treated Christina at times just left me slack-jawed (and screaming WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO CHRISTINA! SHE SHOULD KICK HIM IN THE NUTS AND RUN!!!!) I have heard/read that some of his future relationships don't fare much better. Also, and y'all know I'm not a Japril fan, but something about the sanctimonious way he stood there waiting for April when she was saying goodbye to Jackson just made me want to knock him out. Dr. Avery is to be credited for not doing just that.
(God, I can only name 5? I have so many more I want to name!)
April Kepner. I almost went with Amelia Shepherd (I really don't like her either), but I know April better at this point, so I'm going with her. Disclaimer. I'm agnostic. I will also fight for someone to be able to practice whatever faith they wish (SO LONG AS THEY DON'T PUSH THEIR FUCKING BELIEFS ON EVERYONE ELSE... which seems to be an issue... but I digress). I wouldn't say April pushes her beliefs on others, and I respect that, honestly. But every time she talked about "Jesus being sad" because she got railed by one Dr. Avery, I wanted to toss my television out the window. Bitch, God SENT that to you. Take it and give thanks daily, OK? And if not. STOP. Here's where Jackson drove me nuts. Babe, you could have had anyone, and you kept going back to the one who made you feel like you were a dirty disease. STOP. I think one of the BEST lines I ever saw on Grey's was yesterday when she was saying, "God didn't want her and Jackson divorced," and Dr. Riggs pointed out all the horror in this world and said, "I think God has bigger worries than you getting divorced." THANK YOU. BUT...... I might have let this all go. After all, this is a show that thrives on terrible characters, so I could have let it go... but she was pretty dreadful. See above about whiny, self-centered, and acting like a two-year-old, but make that a pious two-year-old. She treated Jackson HORRIBLY (Not me applauding when he asked for a divorce), but of course, she played the victim after that. And not telling him she was expecting Harriet. Unforgivable and not very Christian. So, April makes the top 5.
ONE MORE! THAT IS NOT FAIR!!!!
I have a love-hate relationship with Alex Karev, depending on what Alex Karev we're talking about because character consistency is not a strong suit on this show. I dislike Mark Sloan because I think he was a total pig, but he was entertaining, so there was that. There are tons of smaller characters that I really couldn't stand (I didn't like Reed and Charles, for example, and while I wouldn't wish anyone their death, not even on TV, I honestly was like, "OK so they're off the show then? cool). But... GOD, I really have to pick ONE more. OK, here goes (you're gonna hate me, but...)
Meredith Grey. See above about whiny, self-centered, and acting like a two-year-old. She also had the PB MC syndrome, which is, somehow, we were supposed to believe everything she did was perfect, that she was perfect, and god, she was not. Now, is she my least favorite? No. But I think the fact that the character is supposed to be so beloved and so wonderful, and she was so not, chapped my bum even more.
God, there are so many others that I want to mention, but I'm going to let them go (because I'm Elsa).
After this diatribe... do you REALLY want me to do plots too?
Tagging @icecoffee90 because I need to know what you think of my replies.
