The Most HATED Cartoon Characters Ever (Part 2)
So about a month ago, one of my favorite YouTubers Cartoonshi, made a video titled The Most HATED Cartoon Characters, where he looked over a few cartoon characters that were famous for being widely hated.
If you want to check out the video, here it is.
youtube
And after watching this, it gave me the idea of doing a second part of this.
Which Toonshi himself has also considered doing a few more parts of this as well.
So today, I wanted look over some other cartoon characters that are notorious for how hated they are.
So without further ado, let's get started!
D.W.:
It's kinda strange how Toonshi didn't include her in this video, given how among the most hated cartoon characters in general, D.W. is at least in the top 10!
And if you watched the show, it's not hard to see why.
Many people have called her the female equivalent of CAILLOU!
And the comparison is pretty sound.
Bratty, spoiled, can’t follow directions or orders if her life depended on it, and always throwing tantrums when she doesn’t get her way.
Apart from the fact that she can come off as incredibly annoying, a major reason why people hate her is that just like Caillou, she hardly ever gets punished for her actions.
I seriously don’t get why The Reads hardly ever discipline her.
I’m guessing that’s because of how young she is.
But that’s honestly no excuse.
I’m sure just about all of you reading this got disciplined or punished for doing something bad when you were little.
I know I was!
However, there’s one thing to note about all this.
Starting with Season 16 and lasting all the way until the series’ end, something happened to D.W…….
Something I don’t think anyone was expecting…….
She became a likable character.
youtube
Yeah, I’m just as shocked as you are.
D.W. actually became a good character!
She was much more nicer and compassionate.
It was also pretty clear that she greatly matured as she hardly threw tantrums anymore and wasn’t as easily gullible.
And she showed much more genuine appreciation and love about Arthur, no longer actively trying to get him in trouble!
While her bratty and impulsive nature was still there, it was treated more like a hidden depth and an actual flaw of hers.
And more importantly, it was FAR less prevalent when compared to the first 15 seasons.
Also, her friendship with new character Bud (who pretty much became her best friend for the remainder of the series) was pretty sweet.
So yeah……
D.W. actually became a good character.
It’s pretty rare to have characters who started off as horrible, but eventually grew to become actually good!
The only other characters I can think of that fit that mold are Ahsoka and Rex Splode.
Though weirdly enough, this aspect of D.W. is hardly talked about.
Probably because a lot of fans and viewers dropped from the show around Season 16, which infamously switched to flash animation for the rest of the show’s run.
And yeah, the flash animation is pretty bad.
Even by flash standards.
But yeah, D.W. started off as the worst character in Arthur, but went on to become probably the best one!

Sparky:
Dude. What happened to The Fairly Oddparents has gone down as one of the biggest tragedies in not only in television animation history, but just television history in general.

This show was hit HARD by seasonal rot.
Like, I don't think there has been a show that has been hit by seasonal rot as hard as this one.
Though Family Guy is a really solid runner up.
As Cartoonshi said best, this show didn't just fall off, it just forgot how to be a TV show altogether.
The show had devolved into mean-spirited non-sense.
The humor was at an all-time low, settling for bare bones slapstick and lame running gags such as the Butch Hartman staple, "and then the opposite happens!".
Plots so paper thin they make Peppa Pig look like fucking Shakespeare in comparison.
And the phasing-out of nearly all of the show's famous supporting cast because the crew dead-ass couldn't think of anything to do with them anymore.
It's so blatantly clear that nobody working on this show during the later seasons cared anymore.
They all wanted this thing to FINALLY up and die.
FOP was hit seasonal rot so hard, that it genuinely affected how some people view the show overall.
Like, there are people out there who dead-ass believe that this show was never good to begin with!
Remember, FOP ran for a total of 16 years!
And it was only good for 5!
Those five making up the first five seasons of the show, which many consider to be the show's peak and when it was still good.
Another major factor to the show's decline was the new characters they introduced.
Now at first, that doesn't sound too bad.
It's to be expected that shows would add new characters as they go on.
But here's the thing.

These characters weren't added because the crew thought they would be genuinely good additions to the cast.
They were added for the sake of boosting ratings.
Yep! We would be getting an entire set of Cousin Olivers for next nine years!
First there was Poof, who was introduced in the TV movie, "Fairly Odd Baby" (which also served as the beginning of the show's revival and it's unfortunate downfall).
Most people in general don't really mind Poof all that much.
And nowadays, he's viewed in a far more positive light thanks to his absolute glow-up in the sequel series, "A New Wish".
Next there was his Anti-Fairy counterpart, Foop.
Foop was agruably the best received out of the new additions to the cast, due to him actually being somewhat funny and a strong vocal performance from Eric Bauza.
But overtime, reception towards him would become somewhat mixed, due to him getting overused during the later seasons.
But with these next two characters, there is little to no positive reception towards them whatsoever.
Second, there was Chloe, who was introduced in Season 10 of the show, which ended up being its final, and unfortunately, most pathetic season.
Cartoonshi already went over what made her a hated character, so if you want to see that, just watched the video above.
Though most of you are wondering why I used "Second" when introducing Chloe.
Well that's because we're finally ready talk about the main focus of this section: Sparky!
Sparky was introduced in Season 9 (the second worst season of the show) as the new pet of Timmy Turner.
And in terms of how he was.
Well....
youtube
Yes.
He was straight up just Poochie.
But whereas Poochie was a clever parody and mockery of those "radical" characters that were clearly created to pander to the audience (which is made even funnier when you remember that the Simpsons crew made this episode as a middle finger to the Fox executives after they suggested adding a cool new character to the cast), Sparky was played completely straight.
Like bro, Sparky feels like he would've been a joke character in the first five seasons.
Given that they literally had a episode that made fun of annoying overused TV tropes.

Which also just so happened to serve as unintentional foreshadowing for the show's unfortunate future.....
But apart from that, he was just boring.
As every episode revolved around him were the most generic and cliched "Man's best friend" plots you can think of.
And he wasn't that funny, which is to be expected as this was when FOP's humor was at absolute rock bottom.
The only enjoyable thing about him was the hints of him having a criminal past, and that one time asked Timmy to help him hide something from The FBI.
Because as we all know, FBI and IRS jokes in cartoons are usually gold.
youtube
But other than that, fans and viewers did not take kindly to Sparky.
And the crew were on the same page as they apparently hated him too!
So much so that when Season 10 rolled around, Sparky was completely GONE!
youtube
With no mentions of him whatsoever nor any explanations of what happened to him.
This was a blessing since remember, nobody liked or cared about Sparky.
But then again, maybe not since he was replaced with Chloe.
However, it does bring into the question if whether or not Season 9 was still canon.
But then I remembered that FOP had completely given up on following its continuity and established rules during the later seasons, which resulted in us getting....

This.....
So whether or not Sparky even existed is up for debatable.
Though I know for sure that you can't look to the FOP crew for that, who I'm 99% sure don't even know themselves.
Including Butch, being the talentless hack he is.
Bloo and Bendy:
Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends has a incredibly solid and charming cast.

With one exception.....
And that exception is ironically enough, the co-protagonist of the series, Bloo.
Bloo is what I could best describe as being Cartoon Network's equivalent to Patrick Star.
Not really from a characterization standpoint, but more in the case of what happened to them.
The general consensus is that in the first season, Bloo, while mischievous and a bit reckless, he was still a fairly humble, clever and caring guy, who would always go out of his way to help his friends, especially Mac!
Like, he was basically the older brother that Mac deserved!
But come Season 2, Bloo was turned into a selfish, narcissistic, obnoxious little shit biscuit who would constantly get himself and his friends into trouble on a regular basis.
It got to the point where people wonder why the hell he and Mac were even still friends.
Hell, why Mac even created him in the first place!
If anything, Bloo made Mac's life more of a living hell than Terrence did!
As for why he was like this, the answer is actually quite simple.....
Executive meddling.
When asked about this, series creator and all-around animation GOAT Craig McCracken, revealed that he wanted Bloo to have character development, but Cartoon Network didn’t want any continuity.
As a result, they forced Craig and the crew to keep Bloo a piece of shit.
And I can believe it.
Networks are always asking and demanding for stupid shit like this.
And this wouldn't be the last time Cartoon Network did something like this.

And while Bloo still had his funny moments....
youtube
He was generally seen as insufferable.
However, they may all be changing.
In 2022, it was announced that Foster's would be getting a spin-off/sequel series titled Foster's Funtime for Imaginary Friends.

The series would not only have Craig returning to create it, but also focus on the adventures of a new cast of younger imaginary friends being led by Bloo, who's described as an immature elder imaginary friend.
With this implying that this series is set a couple of years after the original series.
And it seems like that Craig is planning on bringing Bloo back to his original characterization.
And I wouldn't be surprised by that, given how even he wasn't all that fond of how Bloo was written post-Season 1.
And I have the upmost faith that he'll succeed in that, given how much of a consistent track record Craig has had post-Foster's.

But there's one other character in Foster's that's even more hated Bloo.
And he only ever appeared ONCE!
That character is none other than BENDY!
Making his only appearance in "Everybody Knows It's Bendy", Bendy was a little bastard who constantly caused trouble for shits and giggles and blamed it other people.
And the main conflict of the episode was him constantly getting Bloo, Coco, Eduardo and Wilt in trouble for stuff he did.
What made this all worse was how Frankie and Mr. Herriman just fully trusted Bendy and didn't even question him once.
I understand that he's new, but at some point, you gotta start questioning things when you notice a pattern involving him!
Not to mention not believing in the others!
In the case of Bloo, that's understandable. He's proven to be pretty untrustworthy.
But the other three?
Not only are they FAR more honest than Bloo, but Frankie and Herriman have known them for YEARS!
But they trust the guy who they've only known for a few days more than the trio they've known for most of their lives?!
youtube
And when Bloo finally exposes Bendy for his actions, and with undeniable proof, he still gets in trouble and blamed for the mess that Bendy caused trying to hide the photo that exposed him!
This episode is widely regarded as the worst episode in the series, and it's not hard to see why.
It's so bad that even writer, other animation GOAT and the wife of Craig Lauren Faust has expressed regret towards this episode.
And the thing is that this episode could've worked and Bendy could've served as a solid recurring antagonist.
If it was only Bloo he was getting into trouble instead of the others.
Even Lauren herself agreed with that statement.
But after his debut episode, Bendy straight up disappeared, with there being no in-universe explanations at all.
The closest thing we've gotten was a statement from Craig and Lauren, stating that "Everybody Knows It's Bendy" is apparently non-canon.
So yeah, Bendy canonically doesn't even exist.....
I don't think I've ever seen a show that had an episode so hated, that they decided to flat retcon it!
But if this episode was canon, most people tend to agree that Bendy's fate was that he was finally exposed for his vandalism and got his ass rightfully kicked out of Foster's.
Anyways, that's all for now.
I wanted to include a few more characters, but I'm unfortunately nearing the image limit.
But anyway, let me know what you guys think about this post.
And if you could, send me some ideas of who I should cover in Part 3.
