Anon asked:

Whumpee is kidnapped and replaced with a doppelgänger. Any ideas for some small behaviours that hint to the caretaker that something is off?

Sure:

Not liking favourite foods/songs.

Dressing differently (”You always wear your [item of clothing]” “I’m just not feeling it today.”)

At first the caretaker thinks they’re sick. 

They have a slightly different mannerism - they’re biting their nails more/running their hand through their hair/tapping on things etc

Maybe they sleep more/less

What if they have decent habits.

^ So like, they sleep eight hours, have decent meals at reasonable times, and don't try and take the entire workload for themselves.”

^ Caretaker has to sit down the when doppelganger asks for help. 

^ “You- you want help?” “Yeah, I mean there's a lot to do for just me on my own.”

The doppelganger isn’t nearly as argumentative too. 

For some time, the caretaker almost likes the ease of living the doppelganger brings, but when all is revealed, the caretaker has a sense of guilt for feeling this way - especially if the whumpee is a little banged up from the ordeal.

Whump prompt #5

A Human weapon whumpee was trained to kill/ kidnap people with a face reference. So when he is rescued, they avoid looking at anyone, always turning his back and not wanting anyone to approach them. They have been looking at that list o faces for so long, killed so many of those... Sometimes they still sees those faces in other people's bodies. They are trying to get in control of themselves, but they are afraid they might see an "enemy face" and trigger them to attack.

Bonus if whumper is a supernatural creature

Like a wolf, a vampire or a doppleganger

Werewolf whumpee in this situation would be trying their hardest to never transform, or hold the transformation in a more harmless stage

They would also probably avoid eating meat, it reminds them of the bodies they ate.

Vampire whumpee begs to be blindfolded before feeding from someone.

Both enticed and extremely repulsed by the smell of blood. They seem to almost puke but then start to salivate over it.

Doppleganger whumpee starts to shift into different people (his past victims) by accident whenever triggered.

I can also imagine this working for robot whumpee

They have a specific word/ sentence/ alarm/ switch/ button that trigger them.

They can only be brought back to normal with a password/switch/ button.

Face recognition failing

Probably asked for face recognition to be deactivated entirely, so whenever they look someone in the eye, they don't know who they are, they see them and maybe able k vaguely describe their features, but cannot tell who they are or if they have ever met.

(tho they might have other ways of figuring it out, like through their voice/ clothes/ digitals/ etc...) (Or no...)

Summer of Whump 29: Choices

Featuring my oc Darien in the last installment of his series. I actually made myself tear up a little at the end.

He was trapped in a nightmare again. That was the only explanation. Any moment now he would wake up and find it had all been a horrific dream.

The face under the silver mask was his own. His own eyes. The same nose and chin. The same scar running across his left cheek down to the corner of his mouth. An exact replica of his face.

His doppelganger.

Darien couldn’t breathe. This man, the man that bore his own face, had tortured him countless times, drowned him, crushed his throat, stolen the life from him. And now, to be confronted with his own reflection, a living, sentient reflection that now held a knife to his heart—

“Well, Darien Lockleed? Do you know who I am?”

“Yes. My doppleganger.”

“And do you know how I came into existence?”

Darien didn’t know. His mind was blank, stunned into emptiness by the horror before him. He sensed Alysse in the background, looking on helplessly with her eyes fixed on him. But his body was frozen.

“I was born the moment your brother died. The moment you made the decision not to help him. And I came to make your life a living hell.” As he finished speaking, he withdrew the knife from Darien’s heart and sheathed it.

No. No, it wasn’t supposed to end this way. Darien needed to die. Only then would his torment be over—

His doppelganger reached down a bared hand to him. His thumb bore a burn scar, a scar from the fire that had led to his creation in the first place. The same scar that Darien had on his own hand.

Darien got to his feet and for the first time, he looked straight into his tormentor’s eyes. Holding that gaze, the doppelganger spoke.

“I’ve chosen to let you live, Darien Lockleed, just as you chose to surrender your own life to save Alysse. Your punishment is over. You are free to go.”

Free to go. He was free. He had survived, and he was free.

In the silence that followed, the doppelganger turned and walked down the ruined hall, passing through the shadows until he became one of them, and vanished.

Alysse ran to her uncle and hugged his leg. For the first time, he laid a hand on her tousled head and cleared away the tear-dampened wisps of hair from her face. She looked up at him and smiled.

He had made the right choice, Darien thought. One that he would never regret.

2020, a retrospective

It's been a couple of rough years but this year was happily more productive than the previous ones. I don’t think I’ve looked back in a while-- did I even post a damn thing last year? Ugh. Let’s forget all about 2020.

Onto this year!

For one, I'm so pleased I got to post Burn Up My Heels. When I floated the idea years ago, it was not very popular and I recalled thinking it'd be difficult to post 100k+ of a fandom of one. I was so happy and surprised to have drawn readers in. I have hopes of writing a sequel and really dig into Mara *and* Luke in their early twenties as criminal hooligans in Tatooine trying at all costs to get out together. I still hate Tatooine, but to actually get to the characterization I’m at where both have the potential to get morally compromised is AAAAaaaaaaaaaa! Beyond exciting in how new new new it feels. Very psyched.

As I wrote Burn I was thinking a lot about Jedi and what it would mean for Mara to be forced (in a way) into that role in Luke's absence. Of Small Things was the result and I found it to be a very emotional story about loss, love  and impostor syndrome. I can't express how happy I am it resonated with people.

I've been veering away from PWP for a while, but occasionally if a premise feels fresh enough I'll go that way (and there’s a few that I still have floating around). Catch and Release was a welcome respite from the heaviness of Of Small Things. Yes, it's pegging and no, it's not femdom. 

My biggest surprise this year was Glorious Slaves, because what the hell OC pov!Imperial Mara. Although put that way it seems to be a natural fit for me, ha. A collab, too! To be fair, strangeallure is so interwoven (the superego to my id, the wind beneath my winds, my mindtwin, etc.) in my writing, it felt like what we wrote was an involved conversation. While writing is the worst hobby, writing with someone you mesh with is awesome and amazing and the only sadness is that it took so long to happen -- oh, and that I can’t persuade her to co-write all my projects so I have more fun and less to do. 

The second big surprise this year was What Remains, a quick and dirty Halloween fic, about alternate realities, dopplegangers, and classic Mara whump with a potent sprinkle of Luke Skywalker's implacable goodness. I like some of the ideas there enough to seek them elsewhere, but as always the list of ideas for fic is long.

Haha, and I can't believe I almost forgot to mention the snake porn, Theriac, I wrote thanks to a hyperfixation hole I fell into for The Folk of the Air. Okay maybe THAT was the biggest surprise. Only in fandom! More about trust and hope than monsterfucking but maybe that's being pearl clutchy about it.

So that’s my 2021! I've been quieter than years before due to a lot of situations I continue juggling, but I am profoundly grateful for the words of encouragement I've recieved in various projects both old and new. Knowing that no one owes anyone in fandom anything, I deeply treasure the generosity of readers in this space for any engagement. Luke and Mara continue to be my favorite dolls and fellow fans are always welcome to watch me play (ew not like that perverts, haha).

Next year i hope to FINALLY get Phantasmagoria done, post something on Mara harvesting her crystal, and finish Adyton. I might not get to any of these due to circumstances or new things that draw my attention, but looking forward and having plans makes me lighter of heart. May 2022 bring about renewal for everyone! Cheers!
