ok but saucy thoughts aside im talkin bout talon assistant reader genuinely being cute and silly with her agents:

Moira more often than not lets you eat your lunch in her lab provided that none of it comes in contact with her projects. She was hyper focused - her perfectly manicured nails holding still a tawny brown ball of fur, adorned with a baby pink button nose that sniffled the air hesitantly. You’d practically squealed when she raised a needle to the poor thing, and she quirked a brow when you hurried over to clutch the animal to your chest.

Moira appeared unimpressed with you. Her angular chin upturned as she peered down at you, baby talking the rabbit she had planned to test on. You looked up at her with eyes big and watery enough to rival the little creatures, and she sighed dramatically. The geneticist had a feeling that wrangling the critter out of your arms wouldn’t be so easy now that you’d seen what plans she had for it.

So that is how Lucky came to be. Despite Moira’s cold disposition, she enjoyed your company, and would like you to continue body doubling with her whilst she worked. The only way not to send you fleeing from her lab in tears, clutching the rabbit to your chest, was to keep it around. It has its own little space laden with toys and plush surfaces - a rather spoiled little animal.

Moira allowed the rabbit to stay, under the one condition that she name it. She’ll never tell you why, but she named the little guy Lucky because not only was he ‘lucky’ to avoid her experiments that day - he also gives you more excuses to come into her lab - and she feels ever so lucky for it.

Sombra finds unique methods to get your attention. She lurks around the base almost as well as Gabe does, but she’s not necessarily doing it to be broody. She can get greedy with your attention, so she finds ways to lure you off base so that she can have you all to herself for a little bit.

Sombra often hacks into Akande’s email to send you on faux errand runs, just for little things like coffee where she can swoop in for some quality time. And don’t worry, she pays for the dates and ensures you’re back on base by the time your break is finished.

Sombra also leaves little gifts where she thinks you might find them. Although, they’re never really that little. You’re always taken aback by new, expensive top-range electronics laden in purple ribbon on your desk. You know who leaves them, because they’re backed up with the best firewalls around and the display has a tiny purple skull on it.

Sometimes she just straight deposits thousands into your account. As a treat. Sombra only rolls her eyes when you try to decline the amount, flustered and telling her that it’s ’way too much’ but she honestly couldn’t care less. She’s perfectly able to spoil you and that’s exactly what she’ll do.

Reaper likes to play off that he doesn’t enjoy your company (he’s coping) but he’s also always skulking wherever you’ve been. You’re a bit of a yapper, especially when it’s early mornings in the Talon communal area, so he likes to sit and listen to you. If you stagger whilst talking because you think he isn’t listening, he’ll give you a stare so hard that you swear you can feel it through his mask. So you keep talking and his shoulders sag with contentment once more. (He now knows every single type of coffee you like, and you should expect a mysterious package of literally all of them in the kitchen next week.)

He’s a grump, and sulked for an entire week when you once changed your perfume. Reaper even went to lengths to shadow-step into your room to throw the new one out and replace it with a fresh bottle of your old one. It wasn’t cheap, but as long as you keep using it, he’s happy to buy them for you.

He’s also happy to scare off any of the overconfident Talon grunts who think you’re easy pickings. In fact, I’d say he takes great pleasure in showing those idiots who the pretty secretary belongs to. (He’s been doing this behind your back because he’s too edgy and emo to approach you directly and would rather trail you in the corridors like some sort of creep, but he means well.)

Reaper gets a little jealous over your attention from time to time, but with help from his unorthodox teammates (and you) he learns to share.

Amelie is slower to approach, but she’s all the more meaningful when she does. She may not be able to feel, but she more than just tolerates your company. She finds herself inviting you over for bottles of wine more often, showing you her manor and her dear guard hounds who’ve come to be much too gentle under your affections. Yet, she can’t find it in herself to blame you.

You show her simplicity in a blank and cold world - and soon enough her manor grows less full of cobwebs and vines, instead beaming with sunlight and the tiny succulents you’d gifted her with. You won’t replace Gerard, but Amelie still lets you dust off the weathered picture frames as if you’d been married together in this old house for years.

You help manage her hair, winding long and silky strands between your fingers, brushing against the elegant slope of her back. She welcomes your touch, despite the warm and cold contrast of your skin on hers.

Amelie craves the casual and domestic intimacy you provide her. She introduces you to self defence and gun wielding so you can take care of yourself without her, and you introduce her to reality tv and an absurd collection of coffee mugs. She would not take it any other way.

Sigma’s musings start small when he hears you humming a certain tune one day. It’s catchy, likely a pop song you’d heard on the radio whilst on your way to work, or maybe it was a song you’d been blasting in your bedroom the night before? He’d found himself picking up on it, unable to shake it until he’s humming it himself.

Eventually when you sit down with him for tea, he questions you about it, yet when you tell him the name of the song and he listens to it, he doesn’t necessarily feel the same pull.

The next week, when you’re passing by his lab in a hurry, heels clacking against the glossy wooden floor and papers flying in a trail behind you, he catches you humming another song. Another tune. He smiles softly to himself, picking up the documents you’d left behind.

Sigma realises then that the song wasn’t necessarily catchy enough to stick with him. He’d only picked them up because they reminded him of you.

Mauga is always excited to have you around. Sometimes he can be a bit much, but with two hearts he’s bound to have twice your energy. So that’s why he absolutely insists that you sit on his back whilst he does pushups. No matter what you weigh he’s not gonna break a sweat, so you might as-well relax on his back while he works out, instead of wasting precious quality time you could have together.

He’d suggested that you sit on other things too, but you’d smacked his bicep hard enough that the muscle rippled and he got the message to behave. You were still sore from the last time he said that.

Mauga also is a big cuddler, meaning, if you’re doing something he doesn’t deem as important, you’re being quite literally swept off your feet and dumped onto a soft surface like a wet kitten. Where he then hauls you onto his chest and squishes your face into his bicep, unfortunately for you, two hearts means he runs WARM. And you’re out like a light in less than 10. Smug bastard.

Big dude loves to show you off, too. Takes you back to some of his old haunts (pays for all of your drinks) and puts a song he knows you like on the jukebox. Sure, the night ends in a bar fight, a back-alley fuck and the worst take out you’ve had in your life, but would you have it any other way? Absolutely-fuckin-not.

And finally, the big boss of them all, Akande. Who’s satisfied with the knowledge that each of his subordinates treat you well and good, but knows he holds the ultimate claim. He holds the golden chain of your leash.

He treats you softly, like a well pampered pet all trussed up in the finest materials around. But it’s not always money with him. Sure, Akande has it, and he’s gonna flaunt it, maybe stuff a few bills in your panties when you least expect it but he also knows you’re not just a pretty face. Both he and his top agents have become adjusted to you in their lives, morale is high, people have improved.

You’re here to stay, and it’s only locked into place when he awakes one morning, your legs are tangled underneath satin sheets, and you’re drooling on his bare chest. He laughs - a deep rumble that shakes his chest and has you groaning at him to stop moving in a sweet, sleep addled mumble. You even give him a little kick under the covers.

Akande makes sure you’ll never want nor need again, and he’s sure that his team feel the same way about this odd, sweet assistant that stumbled into their lives.

Headcanons: Overwatch Men Saying I Love You for the First Time (Pt 1.)

A/N: splitting these headcanons into 2 parts so that i can get the creative juices flowing for when i write the others. (hcs under the cut!)

Baptiste:

Baptiste, being ever the spontaneous one, first tells you he loves you during the movie night you have about every two weeks.

The two of you were huddled underneath a large, fluffy blanket, the film you chose somewhat forgotten as you idly chat about whatever comes to mind.

As you go to lean against his shoulder, you can hear a small breath hitch in his throat as his sentence fades off.

With a concerned look on your face, you pause the movie before lifting your head to look at him.

"Hey, are you okay?"

Baptiste nods his head in reply as he places a comforting hand on your arm.

"Yeah, I'm alright, it's just...You know I love you, right?"

Your eyes widen in surprise for a moment before softening again as you sweetly smile at him.

"I love you too, 'Tiste..."

Cassidy:

Cole is almost always on charmer mode with everyone he knows and comes across. It's part of how he got this far in life and how he prefers to be seen.

But when it comes to his first time telling you how he feels after you've just started dating? Completely different story. He's an absolute mess.

Here he is, pacing back and forth in front of your door with a gift in hand as he debates on how to admit his affections for you.

As he hypes himself up to finally knock and just tell you, the door creaks open with you peeking out from behind it.

"Oh, hi Cole! What can I do for you?" You say, fully pulling the door open as you greet him with a grin.

"H-hey, darlin'... I- I, uh, made somthin' for you. Here." An unprepared Cassidy stutters as he hands you his present.

As you look down at where your hand meet, Cole pulls his away to reveal a braided leather bracelet with round wooden beads interlaced.

Letting out an excited gasp, you place it upon your wrist before throwing your arms around the cowboy.

"This is amazing, Cass, thank you! I love you!"

Cassidy then chuckles deeply, wrapping himself around you as he leans into your touch.

"Love you too, sweetheart."

Doomfist:

Akande is very in tune with what he wants for himself, so when he realizes how he feels, he won't hesitate to tell you.

He'd call you to meet him somewhere private in Talon's headquarters, where once you arrive, he'd instantly start flirting.

"Ah, hello my dear. Looking as wonderful as always."

"Oh, thank you, Akande! Is there something you wanted from me?"

He would shake his head in confirmation before tenderly grabbing your hand and placing a kiss atop it.

"Nothing too serious, I assure you. I simply wanted to tell you that I love you. I hope you feel the same."

With a flustered expression, you'd whisper a small yes before he places his arms around around your waist in an unusually soft embrace.

Genji:

Genji says it during a rare quiet moment at Gibraltar.

After preventing a Null Sector attack on a town not far from base, you were helping him repair some of his cybernetic parts that got damaged in the fight.

In the middle of adding a few adjustments to one of the mobility mechanisms, he heaves out a deep sigh which causes you to glance up at him.

"I can tell you wanna say something, 'Ji. You can tell me if you want."

With a shake of his head, he lets out another sigh as he places a gentle hand on your face.

"Just... thank you for everything you do for me, my beloved. I love you."

"Love you too, Genji."

Hanzo:

If anyone would be the one to plan something to tell you his feelings, it would absolutely be Hanzo Shimada himself.

Even if he isn't normally one for romance, your presence in his life would have changed that

Hanzo would make preparations to meet you somewhere special so he could not so subtly show you off in public.

After eating a fancy dinner at an expensive restaurant and going on a walk through a park, he'd turn to look at you with admiration swimming in his eyes.

"I just want you to know that I love you very much. Even if I don't say it often, I really do care about you."

"I love you too, Han." You'd grin before kissing him softly on the cheek.

Junkrat:

Let's be honest with ourselves, Jamison would have blurted it out within the first few days of being with you.

He'd probably be so focused on building a new explosive contraption that he wouldn't have even noticed he said it.

"Oi, could you hand me the thing? It's in the toolbox over there!"

You'd walk over, grab the thing he needs and go to give it to him with a few pats to his shoulder.

"Thank youuu, I love ya!"

You'd chuckle quietly in response and give his head a smooch before walking off to do your own thing.

"I love you too, Fawkes!"

Lifeweaver:

Niran will tell you he loves you when he hides out at your place after a group of hunters sent by Vishkar find him and try to chase him down.

After a relentless pursuit, he manages to escape and find his way to your house, needing a place to recollect his thoughts.

When you respond to the banging on your door, you look out to see an exhausted Lifeweaver on your doorstep.

"Could I bother you for a place to stay for the night?"

"Always. The guest room is already ready for you."

With a relieved sigh, Niran would hug you before pulling you back into the house.

First off, be prepared for his job to come first, he's quite busy as one of the few leaders of Talon.

You'd either have to wait for a time he's free OR (the fun part) really provoke him.

Just showing up to a meeting in a 'cute new outfit' is enough to get him going.

After basically teasing him the entire day, be prepared for a WHOLE lot of stress relief sex.

Of course, he's still respectful to make sure you're okay with everything he does. He wouldn't want to hurt you.

You both have a safe word in case things do go too far just to be careful and respect boundaries.

But, unless that word is used, he'll do literally anything to you that you ask of him or what he wishes to do to you.

He's definitely a top, but would let you ride him, but he still likes to stay in control of the situation.

Talon x Reader

Cuddle/sleep headcanons

Doomfist

He doesn’t have time for it very often but when it gets down to it he melts into you in a gentle hold

He prefers a casual position where you head rests on his chest while he rubs circles in your back

He would never admit it to anybody but big spooning him puts him right to sleep

But if you’re a natural heater it doesn’t matter the position after a long day

He’s constantly preparing and orchestrating missions so he isn’t usually with you when you wake up but always kisses you on the temple while you sleep on his way out

Reaper

He isn’t entirely fond of it but does it anyways especially if it helps you sleep

Spooning is easier for him but he doesn’t mind you resting your head on his arm while facing him

He gets to have a good look at you as you usually wind up falling asleep first

His skin is pretty chilled so he counts on your body heat and a few extra blankets for warmth

He isn’t always in bed by the time you wake up but when he is he’s already caressing your cheek and dreading the headache his team will bring him

Moira

She’s almost always late to bed and occasionally isn’t there at all

You consider yourself lucky some nights when you can actually drag her to bed with you

She has terrible circulation and is pretty cold so after some complaining she makes sure the bed has extra blankets

However if you run hot at night then it’s a match made in heaven as she gets to watch you pass out while you practically drape yourself over her

She prefers you rest your head on her chest as it gives her a free hand to look at reports while the other hand runs itself through your hair

She always wakes up before you and like clockwork she returns to her experiments but not without a forehead kiss on her way out

Sombra

I imagine she’s terrible at getting to bed at a reasonable time but you’ve changed that when you start dating

Now it’s something she can look forward to as she even takes an occasional nap with you whenever her schedule can allow it

There are nights she doesn’t show up but when she does she loves to be big spoon since she runs a little hot in her sleep

She finds it so rewarding even on nights you both hardly get enough sleep from staying up talking and laughing over every little thing

It always surprises her to think about how much you’ve helped her relax as it manages to show in her work as well

She’s probably the only Talon member what wakes up in unison with you and shares your morning routine

Mauga

As a mercenary he only occasionally isn’t in bed whenever he has a mission run late

On nights that he’s home he makes sure to drag you to bed with him no matter what you’re doing

He’s earned his little snuggle session so “five more minutes” be damned

He enjoys any cuddling position but he loves to wrap himself around you and engulf you in his arms

He loves when you stay up late and talk with him as you trace whatever scars he’s collected from past missions

He does wake up before you but refuses to let you out of bed unless you promise him something like breakfast or helping him wash his hair

Widowmaker

She doesn’t seem to need much sleep these days and she isn’t quite fond of cuddling as much as she used to be but she is fond of you

As an assassin the only time she isn’t in bed with you is when a mission runs late

Whenever it’s up to her she prefers spooning regardless of her position as long as she feels the warmth of your skin

Compared to you her skin is ice cold and hardly makes for a good cuddle session unless you run hot at night

If you don’t she always sees to it that the bed has extra thick blankets and expensive furs prepared on your side of the bed

You’ll sometimes catch her watching over you if you happen to wake up in the middle of the night

In the morning she’s always up and offering you tea or coffee before some breakfast

Sigma

Like Moira his research never allows for him to have a normal sleep schedule

You usually have to coax him to bed with gentle hands and promises to let him continue his work early in the morning

It tends to work some of the time if he isn’t suddenly too cold and stonewalls you

Once he’s actually in bed it takes a little more effort to get him to ease his mind and get some sleep

A frequent tradition is to spend some time with his head on your lap while you message his forehead

You have your deepest conversations with him when he’s resting on you like this

When it’s time to sleep he envelops you in his arms and is finally soothed by the smell of your hair

He isn’t much colder than Moira but enjoys a few extra blankets on his side regardless of your heat

Mornings aren’t always the same but he does his best to share a routine with you

So i was thinking about this one interaction between Ramattra and Pharah

Where Ramattra says "You were one of Anubis's jailers. You should have destroyed it."

And she was shocked, not thinking he would say that.

I, too, had the same reaction as her when I first heard that interaction because it truly doesn't seem like something Ramattra would say. So I've been thinking about why Ramattra would say something like that, especially considering their views seem to align almost perfectly: humans suck

But then I really thought about Ramattra's situation and I kind of realized something

He was a Ravager unit, meaning he was created by Anubis purely for the eradication of humanity. Created to be nothing but cannon fodder, a weapon.

And then one day he gains human level sentience. He suddenly understands right and wrong, vice and virtue. And he's still watching others like him, things created in a war for war and by war, be destroyed and hated for simply existing.

I believe Ramattra hates his creator. If it hadn't been for Anubis, Aurora wouldn't have happened. If she hadn't been created, the Awakening wouldn't have happened. He never would have even existed.

Imagine going from living a life of ignorant bliss to suddenly being cursed with knowledge and yet no one is on your side.

And the ones that say they are aren't actually. Doomfist, leader of Talon, only assists Ram because he craves conflict, he wants to watch the world burn, NOT because he believes humanity is a stain.

It makes me wonder if Ramattra doesn't actually hate humanity and if he's projecting really hard. He's overwhelmed with an almost eldritch level of knowledge (to suddenly gain sentience has to be a wild fucking experience) and he doesn't know what to do about it. He's witnessing all the evil towards his kind because its all he can think about: he knows he was created as a war machine and he can understand why humanity doesn't want to accept them.

He is so conflicted because I'm sure he craves a place in this world. We can see he desires friendship (as seen by his past relationship and current interaction with Zenyatta) so surely he doesn't actually fully hate humanity. I mean his whole thing is "clearly humans don't care about us so I need to do the drastic to keep my brothers and sisters safe"

Idk I'm suddenly having a lot of feelings about this dude. Like he's such a complex "villain" it's insane

Talon & Secret Talents (Headcanons) Super indulgent, but these are what I think the members of Talon would have their secret talent as. My asks are open and requests are welcome, enjoy (they're under the cut c:)

Akande Ogundimu / Doomfist: I can honestly imagine Akande being incredibly good at Luthiery, which is crafting and repairing string instruments like guitars and violins. He taught himself years ago, and has continued honing his skills, modifying instruments and making them out of unconventional materials just to prove to himself he can do it. It's something Akande takes great pride in, serving as a way for him to relax with something mindless and meticulous.

Gabriel Reyes / Reaper: Gabriel has a secret talent for wine and beer making, often spending months at a time making some for his wife, or his colleagues for their birthday. He'll never tell them that he made it, just that it was the cheapest in the store to throw them off his track. Gabriel was taught by his dad how to, and has since loved making it out of ingredients that you wouldn't expect, like sugary sweets or caffeinated drinks. He enjoys the time spent carefully watching it brew, spending weeks to months focused on making sure it tastes divine.

Moira O'Deorian: Honestly I like to think that Moira's good at embroidery, especially cross stitching. She was taught how to do it by her mother, who was taught by their mother and so on. It's a family gift, and she values the time spent carefully making beautifully woven creations. She used to fabric dye too, taking her time with an airbrush to make the most beautiful Ada for people to buy from her. It's her secret hobby, and it helps her to unwind especially if she can't sleep that night.

Siebren de Kuiper / Sigma: Siebren's always enjoyed writing, finding it to be the best way to express his thoughts and feelings. Over time, his writing has become more erratic, scattered, and incoherent. It's something that weighs on his mind from time to time, but he enjoys reading back his older works, like diary entries or poetry he's written. It fills him with a hope of returning to that mental state, and writing in and of itself helps him to clear the echoing thoughts that linger each day. 

Amelie Lacroix / Widowmaker: Amelie has always loved dressmaking, and considers herself to be a talented seamstress. She's always enjoyed it, and it's something even Talon wouldn't be able to pry from her hands. Amelie made her wedding dress, cocktail dresses for parties, and likes to make new patterns for future designs as often as possible. It's something meticulous, and helps to focus her mind on something that won't impact her negatively. Often, Moira and Olivia will ask Amelie to make them designs that she thinks would compliment them, but wouldn't expect her to make the dress completely for them, often tailoring it to be absolutely perfect on them. It's not as much of a secret talent as she'd like it to be, with Moira and Olivia being the only people that know about it. However, she values their opinions on her work, and appreciates the way they express their gratitude over the dresses she makes for them. It makes her feel as though she has a purpose again; one that doesn't have a road of dead bodies following her.

Olivia Colomar / Sombra: Olivia's scarily gifted at photography and photo editing. She has a secret blog and secret twitter to share her creations, to conceal her identity and prevent anyone finding them. Her works are based on her traumas, and the things going on in Dorado that she can't prevent. They're often thought provoking, bringing light to the things that people often overlook. She likes to add an element of hope into the images, and likes to add a line that adds to the work to each post. They're not popular by any means, with rarely anyone interacting with them, but she doesn't care - as long as someone's documenting the way her home is being destroyed by the violence, she's content. It's something she intends to keep private, and she doesn't want to attach her face or name to the images she's creating.

Maugaloa Malosi: Maugaloa has a talent for memorising and recalling information - even when he was a child, he was applauded for his ability to recall exact details of the smallest things from months ago. It's something he prides himself on, but doesn't talk about often enough, wanting to utilise this skill when it'll suit him the most. He enjoys the ability to memorise things, often seeing it as a weapon ready to be used whenever he needs/wants.

He's a unit who needs to be controlled.

He is able to increase the damage of his allies, block attacks, and devastate enemies with his shatter and fire strike.

A member of Talon in this universe, you won't want to be alone with him.

Especially since he's so uncontrolled.

Normally, Reinhardt is a knight of honor and glory.

He's a man you can trust with your life, one who would protect you with all he has.

This Rein has no honor or glory.

He's been made a hunting dog to do Talon's bidding.

He's little more than a beast of rage.

You can not trust him with your life.

But he will defend you, as he feels you're his to possess.

When it comes to (future) Mirrorwatch fics, I think I like the idea of you swapping universes.

In your universe, you have the Rein you know.

The original Reinhardt.

Yet when Reinhardt and Doomfist clash, their blows send you to another universe.

Imagine if in your universe you and Reinhardt are close.

Maybe close friends? Maybe he felt you were so much more?

Imagine if Reinhardt wasn't yandere before, but his Mirrorwatch version is.

When you wake up, you're confused.

Everyone's roles are swapped here.

Including Rein.

Reinhardt somewhat recognizes you when he sees you again.

Although in this universe he mostly sees you as a stranger.

To survive, you may need to go to this universe's Overwatch for help.

Which includes Strike Commander Ogundimu, Agent Colomar, and Captain Lacroix to name a few.

To you, you still see Doomfist, Sombra, and Widowmaker.

It's so strange to see your enemies become your friends, and your friends become your enemies.

Even more so when you see Reinhardt's a ruthless killing machine controlled by Amari.

Now his codename is just Fallen Knight... It hurts to see.

Rein may become intrigued by you when he hears you accidentally say his real name.

He's so used to the name Fallen Knight that hearing Reinhardt makes him pause.

Perhaps in this universe he had a version of you who died, which might have drove him to be manipulated by Talon?

Your voice and appearance look similar... For some reason he feels frustrated to see Overwatch evacuate you from the area he's attacking.

Amari tries to keep him under control, but Reinhardt keeps trying to follow you.

It appears you two have been brought together once again...

But not in the way you wanted.

This new Reinhardt is possessive and violent.

Like a wild animal, he'll stop at nothing to have what he wants.

Sure, Amari can tranquilize him or keep him back somehow...

Yet he'll have you eventually.

Getting kidnapped by Reinhardt in this universe is terrifying.

You spend most of your time at Overwatch's HQ after trying to describe your scenario to them.

After that, they vow to keep you under their protection until they can send you home.

Only for a Talon raid to strike Overwatch HQ.

Many Talon agents pour into the building, wreaking havoc.

You focus on escaping, only to hear a growl.

The sound of rocket boosters occur before you're pinned against one of the metal walls.

You scream in pain, looking up to see a face you once found comforting.

It looks like him... But the scar is on the opposite eye and he wears a respirator...

Or is that a muzzle?

He glares down at you with predatory intent, breathing heavily as he keeps you pinned.

The tension is thick in the air...

Right up until he picks you up effortlessly, slinging you over his shoulder easily.

Amari may let Reinhardt keep you.

Her dog deserves a treat for doing such a good job.

You get to be kept in his kennel for him to play with (his room, but Amari loves to dehumanize him).

Reinhardt doesn't let anyone else touch you once he has you.

You feel so familiar... a distant memory he can barely recall now...

But now you're all his.

Rein loves the size difference between him and his obsession.

At night he pulls you close once out of his armor, spooning you closely as he nuzzles into your hair.

He always keeps that strange headgear on, yet you don't dare take it off.

He probably bites... (He does).

In fact, if that gear ever came off, he may immediately start marking you like an animal.

Rein isolates you like you're his favorite toy.

He has bark and he has bite.

He'd threaten you to never leave his room, telling you he'll know and the rest of Talon will keep you here.

No one likes him when he's angry.

Reinhardt is a killing machine, you're not used to seeing blood on him or his armor.

He doesn't hesitate to hurt those who try to take you away from him.

Including Overwatch agents.

One wham of his hammer, and they're red paste.

Hopefully you're not around to see it... but it's not like he cares.

Reinhardt likes to intimidate you, to drag out obedience.

You should be scared of him.

He plays rough with you.

He'll pin you, carry you, rough you up...

You're a toy for a dog.

Yet sometimes... You think you see him care for you.

Sometimes you think you see your Rein in there when he cuddles you close.

However... He'll never be your Rein.

He's a fallen knight...

A beast no one can control... Who needs honor when he has you?

He immediately shut down the whole experiment and demanded to know what you were doing

When you told him you just wanted to be cool like him, his heart broke

As he steered you out of Moira's lab he was glaring daggers at her until you and Reaper were in a private place

There, Reaper explains how he ended up like this and how he doesn't want you to have to go through the same pain he did.

Don't break your poor dad's heart you're all he has left

Widowmaker

She's also appalled when she figures out you let Moira experiment on you

For once she actually sheds a tear when she was asking what you were doing

When you tell her you just wanted to be cool and strong like her, she falls silent

It took Widowmaker forever and a day to be able to feel things again, and she can't imagine losing you now

You're her child and the only person she feels love for, and she is not going to lose your love because of an experiment

Sombra

She's very confused when she walks in and sees a bunch of high tech stuff and you, sitting on one of Moira's gurneys

When she asks what you're doing and you say you're gonna become like her, she honestly starts grinning

Sombra's experimentation was her choice so she walks you through everything that's gonna happen and promises she'll help you figure out how to work it when the surgery is over

She's so freaking proud of you and is delighted to have her kid as her partner in crime

Doomfist who just doesn’t care mind flaunting his money for you, in fact he insists that you take his card with you wherever you go. He’s absolutely loaded and you couldn’t even make a dent in his pocket no matter what you spend.

He’s quite happy to spend it for you, if you’re a little unsure about taking his money. Akande will take you for decadent dinner dates and line your wardrobe with expensive clothes and fine lingerie - only for his eyes, of course.

He’ll never ask for anything back, but he’ll take his prize in the form of tearing whatever lingerie you’ve bought off with his teeth.

OW Perks and how they contribute to world building

Building a world off of a shooter game means integrating a lot of information about your main characters through game mechanics. As someone who is both into the gaming and fandom side of Overwatch, I’ve always found it really interesting how the game’s development of it’s characters has carried over to their fandom interpretations. Obviously, voice lines, skins and cinematics are the big things, but character abilities are a super big part of it too. So, being as obsessive over this silly game as I am, I spent a few hours combing through the character perks, and wrote a long ass ramble about how I think it could influence the world building of Overwatch. Like a normal person. <3

First and foremost; this is absolutely not meant to be some sort of study on what could be canon to the Overwatch universe. It’s already been established that the game isn’t “canon”. These are just self indulgent rambles, mostly.

If you have any thoughts, please lmk! It’s been a while since I’ve made a long, in depth analysis like this and I’m sure I have definitely missed some things.

So if I was more insane, I would probably make a detailed exploration of how every perk impacts each hero and what it means for them as a character, but that’s. That’s 168 perks. And 43 characters. That’s a lot of things. A few too many. And most of them would just be analyses of where they got their tech from and how that tech works, which isn’t all that interesting to me. Unless it’s about my favourite characters, or something I’m specifically intrigued by,,,,,

Anyways. There are a lot of things to talk about so I’m going to start with how I personally like to view the implementation of perks within the canon (fanon, whatever) universe, which is basically as choices made by characters in the context of the battle. It opens a whole new world of how we can imagine them participating in actual in world battles.

For example- I was watching Flats try the new Doomfist perks, and he mentioned that it was like being able to choose between DPS Doomfist and Tank Doomfist. This sort of thing is a decision that I can imagine him making in canon going in to a fight- should he be focusing on tanking damage so that other Talon agents can finish the mission, or should he leave them be and finish it himself? And that sort of thing applies to any character. Hanzo going for a hit and having to consider if he should focus on stealth (using sonic arrows) or killing his target by any means necessary (using scatter arrows). While yes, these choices are made by us playing the game, they also probably need to be made by the characters themselves. They can’t do everything all at once.

I feel like the introduction of perks could be really interesting in this sense because before they existed, it was sort of up to fans to explore how characters would deal with equipping themselves for what is- essentially- their job. This opens up so many more doors for the active choices the heroes themselves need to make.

Moving on from that, the abilities themselves are fascinating. Some of them I find interesting in general- mostly ones that have a healing element to them. I’ve mentioned at some point that I think it’s interesting that Genji has a perk where he can heal during his Deflect, and I’m really interested in that- how can he do it? My first thought is that it’s connected to the Iris somehow- maybe that spending enough time following Zenyatta’s teachings, he learns how to harness it just the slightest bit. But really, the possibilities are endless. It could be that he’s repairing his mechanical components, sort of like Bastion’s self heal. Maybe it’s something chemical within his body- a sort of biotic injection that gives him an extra boost. There’s a lot of potential ideas here! How many times have we explored how Soldier could use biotic fields- now that can apply to any hero with new self heal perks.

Along that line of thought, the heroes that have gotten new lifesteal abilities (healing while damaging enemies) are also super super interesting. Any character with new lifesteal perks could have so many potential ideas for why they do it. To name them; Hazard, Genji, Junker Queen, and Reaper all have perks that include lifesteal. And for each character, you can come up with entirely new reasons why. Genji’s specifically is a result of his dragonblade- is the dragon literally sucking the life out of his enemies and giving it back to Genji? I have no idea!!! But it’s a cool concept, right?

In that sense I’m very impressed by the specificity of each character’s perks. They work so well with their already existing traits in the Overwatch universe. All of them feel like they could naturally work with the existing ideas of each person’s abilities. It’s a super natural transition, if for the lore moreso than the game itself.

Okay now I’m just going to speedrun some of the more interesting abilities that I’ve found that I just wanted to bring up.

Sigma and Zenyatta can fly/float respectively. First of all, goddamn awesome. Secondly, very interesting how neither really fly- maybe both of them can, but neither want to. After all, Sigma does fly during his ult? So why wouldn’t he do it on the regular? He’s already floating, why not go the extra step? ¯\(ツ)/¯

I’ve already written a lot about it but Soldier’s new stim pack?? So much potential there. Is it a drug? If so who made it? Where did he get it? How does it affect him in comparison to a normal, non super-soldiered person? Does it have long term affects?

Some characters (Hanzo, Freja, ect) have perks where they get increased firing speed if they get hits/kills. I like to imagine that it’s related to adrenaline. Could use that for some interesting character analysis :) (Especially considering how Hanzo’s specific ability is called “Dragon’s Fury”… could connect that to his own bloodlust as a result of being connected to the dragons. Or something. Hmm)

A lot (I think literally all) of Junkrat’s stuff is related to his weaponry. I like to think that it’s because he’s constantly modifying it to fit his own needs- sort of clunkily, but it works, and it’s fun :)

There’s a lot to be said about characters that are initially more on the pacifism side (Zenyatta, Mei, ect) having perks which allow them to do more damage. There are definitely ways to explore character conflicts using their new abilities. This is sort of less about perks and more about them as characters though- I don’t think they’d be happy to use any of their abilities to do harm

Reaper has his soul orbs back!! We can bring back him eating the souls of the dead. Was that ever a thing? Idk. I want it to be. Imagine- Reaper pulling a death blossom in the middle of enemy lines, then collecting their souls in front of whichever of their comrades still live, slowly gaining power… filling the room with more smoke… laughing maniacally all the while… yknow?

Roadhog’s “take a breather” has two perks that he can choose between to upgrade it- either making him faster when he uses it or healing allies. This sort of thing can very easily fit in to how he learns to integrate himself with Overwatch or another group, learning how to share his heals instead of hogging it (no pun intended)

I’m never going to shut up about Sombra being able to heal with hack. There are. So many concepts you can do with that. Especially with how much more of a sympathetic character she’s been portrayed as lately- there could be any number of situations where she had to learn how to do that. Why would she? How could she? Does it work better for certain heroes than others?

Torb can give his allies repairs during battles. Imagine the shenaniganery. Imagine Torbjorn hanging off Reinhardt’s arms or something, trying to fix his rocket booster, while they’re both yelling at each other and everyone else is trying to murder them. I’d animate it if I didn’t suck at it <3

Venture being able to see things while underground is?? So fun?? They’re very bug to me. I like to think it’s like a specified sensor. A sixth sense if you will. Because it’s not like they can actually see, but maybe they can feel the vibrations or something? I don’t know!!

That’s most of the thoughts I wanted to get out, but honestly there’s so much more to explore here. These are just the ones that immediately jumped out at me- I’m sure that just playing with the perks themselves will bring up more ideas. If this is slightly incoherent I apologise lmao. If I come up with anything else, maybe I’ll write something about it

How well does moira get along with the rest of talon?

Her relationships within Talon are pretty dubious.

To start, she does not get along with Doomfist. I don't think he really cares much for her, and deems her a replaceable asset. He just uses her to have more power over Oasis, and realistically he could have just about anybody in a minister position and he'd be happy. He doesn't care for her work, and actively gives her tasks that pushes her away from doing her own work, like forcing her to work on Widowmaker, Sigma, ect. She knows how little she means to his overall operation and holds a lot of animosity towards him. However, without Talon, she has nothing. Talon is basically her last shot of leaving a mark on the world and she can't throw that away, so she pretends to play nice.

Reaper is an interesting story because they have so much history together. He got her a job at Overwatch, Blackwatch, and Talon, but they were definitely closest in Blackwatch. I kind of imagine during that time Gabe saw her as an annoying older sister, who acted like she knew more than him and bickered with him on everything, but was still his older sister, yknow? He loved her, she loved him. He's one of the only people who saw her walls come down, saw the real Moira. Lots of nights spent at her lab, drinking and talking about nothing and everything. They've grown apart of lot since then. Not because of anything Moira did to him, but more so just because Gabe has changed a lot. He's too angry, in too much pain. Moira has changed too. I think she was actually kinda happy in Blackwatch, even if she didn't outwardly show it, or even knew it herself, but know she's just sad? Accepted her fate as one of talons pawns. Neither of them can go back to drinking in her lab. They have moments together, little blips of what it used to be, but they both know it'll never be the same, that it can't be.

Sombra kinda forces herself into Moira's business. I like their chemistry a lot. Sombra has dirt on Moira but Moira has lost all sense of shame, lost to her own arrogance of self image, so Sombra holds no power over her. They have an inkling of what Gabe used to have with Moira, a funny little friendship. Moira never tells Sombra anything personal, she doesn't let her walls come down anymore, but she'll genuinely smile and crack jokes and laugh with her, because she's practically the only beacon of positively within Talon. Also, Moira's high and mighty persona doesn't work on Sombra, and Moira likes women who challenge her like that. They have a kind of will they wont they energy to them. I think Moira is sexually interested in Sombra for sure, and I think that feeling is palpable, and I think Sombra likes to play with that feeling quite a bit.

Honestly? I don't think she has much of a relationship with Sigma at all. Probably hardly sees him as a person, more so a nuisance she has to baby sit. Which is sad, because I think Sigma likes her company a lot. She is stern with him but she doesn't ever yell at him or anything, and he can't really tell that she is mad at him, so he thinks him and Moira are friends, someone of similar intellect to him that he can have scientific conversations with, and is also someone who helps him manage his hallucinations and memory loss.

I've spoken about her relationship with Widow before so I won't get into it again.

For fairness I'll add Ramattra too, but I'm only doing it because I think they could potentially have a funny relationship because I genuinely think they would be so fucking awkward. They are both intellectuals with a strong sense of their morals and they could have some great conversations but they just have no idea how to talk to each other. They do small talk and then it withers away into nothing. It would mostly be Ramattra wishing to speak with Moira but he has no idea how to engage in a conversation with her, and because of it they never form a relationship.

And then for my final act. Maximillian has a crush on her but is also horrified of her. He has no idea how to talk to her and she does this funny thing that she does to omnics where she just kind of stares at them (not in any sort of hateful way, mind you) and it freaks him out but also kind of turns him on. He resorts to very awkward stilted talks with her, which he hopes to end within a sentence or two so he can promptly walk away from the situation.

I can't get over the fact that part of the reason why Cassidy was so concerned about Reyes kill Antonio is because he's pretty much the only person in that group that knows how power vacuums work. Yes, Reyes has been at this for a long time but we see with Hanamura and, well, Retribution, he doesn't fully think of the fallout, Genji wasn't really involved with the crime side of the Shimada family, and Moira canonically prefers to stay off the field and focus on research. Not only that but Cassidy has been a part of a power vacuum before with Deadlock.

I can only imagine Genji getting missions with the Overwatch Strike team, specifically the Doomfist one and realizing this is why Cassidy was concerned. Honestly I could probably make a whole post about the aftermath of Doomfists arrest, cause there is so much to unpack.

Doomfist:

Surprisingly enough it hardly bothers him; even the mild PDA

However, at work, he realized how lenient he has become with you and that eventually bothered him enough to talk to you about it

His position in talon demanded respect and he couldn’t commit to that with you clinging to him any chance you got

That being said you agree, more or less, to a compromise that allows him to better command a room

Thankfully, at home he anticipates your needs before they’re even needed whether it be to carry you around the house or even just a tender moment by the door as soon as he walks in

Reaper:

When he begins to realize just how clingy you are it takes him some time to adjust

He loves you dearly, but he is quick to set boundaries mainly pertaining to your behavior at work

Outside of that, however, he simply cannot help himself. You make him melt at your touch

Even through his agony he softens at your beckon call and your pleas to accompany him in his more mundane activities

In fact, despite popular belief, your clinginess comforts him in ways nothing else can

Moira:

Doesn’t mind it as much as one would think however she does establish a boundary concerning when she really has to focus on something/needs the space

Is occasionally too wrapped up in work to let you know when she would be late or wouldn’t be showing up but is easily forgiven with a little bit of a cuddle session

Despite her persistent studies she has her moments in which she craves your attention for a bit of a recharge

She comes to you masking her disheveled state with confident posture, but, the second she’s in your company she instantly relaxes as you retell the details of your day

Sombra:

Honestly doesn’t even notice that you are clingy and makes it a common occurrence to have you lay with her or on her while she works if possible

On days she's too busy or a mission is taking way too long she's already sending you a quick text with a few corresponding emojis while she's at it

She never tires of your company and is easily the biggest flirt on the team

When you two are apart she's always texting and answering you

Best chat logs out of everybody and almost never leaves you hanging unless the mission truly interferes in someway

Mauga:

If anything, this one is much clingier than you are

You two are always texting when you're apart even if he's in a meeting or briefing

You’re lucky if you even get out of bed as he’s always holding you. He hardly keeps his hands off of you when you’re together whether it be an arm over your shoulder or a hand around your waist

Your PDA makes everyone around you laughably uncomfortable and annoyed, although, you hardly notice them

Spending time with you is the best part of his day; he can’t imagine any other way he’d like to unwind

Widowmaker:

Isn’t the most touchy person out of everybody, but she tries to indulge your habits when she can

You two have a bit of a system built to avoid any uncomfortable moments when she needs her space

Regardless of this she cares about you very much and also enjoys her fair share of cuddles on the couch/in bed

Your dynamic leans more towards you talking while she listens, however, she does comment here and there when prompted

Although some distance remains, she can’t help but feel something every time she’s with you

Sigma:

Finds it incredibly endearing and indulges you quite easily when he isn’t solely focused on his work. Even so he doesn’t mind having you there with him from time to time

It’s quite common to find you two floating around spending time together and the PDA hardly warrants any complaints

His mind partially clears when he gets to spend time with you

You can see him hang on your every word as well as the joy in his eyes when he speaks so sweetly to you

Whenever you two are apart it isn’t surprising to hear him talk about you whenever he gets the chance. The other teammates are actually pretty fond of it
