Doom Runners Review (1998 film)

Last night on the Discord Deano channel, we watched Doom Runners. I had seen the film once before, but on second viewing, a number of important points occurred to me. First of all, in the post-apocalyptic spirit of Divergent (2014) and The Hunger Games (2012), Doom Runners features a kick *ss and take no prisoners teenage female lead who is very much a protagonist and ultimately a heroine of the story. She is no damsel in distress who needs to be rescued, but rather is a leader and encourager of the men (and boys) in the company who are with her to escape from “The Corporation,” the requisite bad guys of the story. This is a refreshing change from typical 90s fare and foreshadows the teen protagonist females who are to come 15 years later (as mentioned above). But, of course, we (in the Dean O’Gorman fans Discord group) were watching for Deek, an exciting and risk-taking albeit reluctant hero who is averse to trusting others (for reasons explained towards the end of the story). The story is the journey of these characters to escape almost certain death or, at the very least, mind-wiping. Tim Curry was the “a bit over-the-top” bad guy who is out to do harm to our heroes. There are other characters, but Deek and Jada are the main story and I recommend this film as both actors give strong performances. The script is a bit “light” but it was a made-for-television Nickelodeon film, so the target audience was kids. Hence, it’s not a complex plot but it’s fun and interesting and for me at least, was worth watching twice! @blairsanne

I looked up a walkthrough and they said “Yea you just can’t get these yet.”
