been playing a lot of co-op classic doom with a buddy lately. doodled a couple of co-op guys for fun.

What drew them to each other is that they were both willing to do reprehensible things.

Whether it's to save their own skins, to save their families, to carry out a plan... They're naturally fucked up in the same pragmatic way.

But they can BE their full, "flawed, petty evil creatures" in full light of the other.

So I read A Stitch in Time and one result of that which I was certainly not expecting was that I feel so much sympathy for Enabran Tain. Garak's life is a tragedy, but Tain's is a fucking black comedy.

I mean, he's a terrible person and an absolute shitbag, but can you imagine? You have this kid. You go to all the trouble of arranging for him to be raised in a family situation where he won't be rejected from society for being your bastard. You get him into the nicest indoctrination school where he can hobnob with plenty of uppercrust kids. You get him a job in your Order and all the proper training. And he's actually, like, really good at it. But he has this fatal flaw of being completely incapable of not making stupid, short-sighted, emotional decisions.

A scene I imagine has to have happened just prior to Garak and Tain's confrontation at the end of part II:

Like goddamn. When Tain asked "what's your plan for getting rid of her husband?" and Garak's just like "plan what plan." Dude. I'M disappointed, I can only imagine the guy who's job it is to know and plan for everything isn't at least as disappointed.

I know he didn't actually, but do you think there was ever a time when Tain wanted to be like, You know what. Just go back to Tolan and become a gardener. Join that illegal hippie cult. It's fine.

I really can't stop playing with this AU... So here comes my most miserable guy, Merlir Theriun. In case you couldn't tell, he has nothing going for him and is having a terrible time :)

As usual, more rambling and process bellow :

Process :

I didn't fight as hard to get a limited palette as last time, it didn't feel necessary for this guy. Also, yeah, I changed Banette for Porygon-Z, it gave a vibe too similar to Drifloon and I remembered halfway through that Porygon-Z exists and is perfect for Merlir.

I'm now struggling to pick teams with less than six pokemons. I know the composition will be hellish and that this guy can only handle one or two pokemons at best, but I'm having so much fun drawing the little guys everywhere. I'm also finally starting to make connections between my ocs with this serie and it's very satisfying, I really need to do more with all those characters! I still have like 3 or 4 ocs in mind that I'd like to do as trainers but I'm unsure about most of their designs so we'll see!

Sam and Maglor who’ve had that choice taken away one too many times and never forgiving themselves

Sam and Maglor following their brother’s footsteps even when it tears at their throat because they can’t fail them again.

Sam and Maglor knowing their brothers are in hell.

Sam and Maglor having to watch themselves fail and someone else succeed. Never thinking of being anything but thankful for it. Amazed their brother forgave them.

Sam and Maglor at the end of everything alone. Their big brother dead. Nothing but grief in his wake.

Sam and Maglor living on because they made a promise, they have a purpose to fulfil, and they won’t let their brother’s pain be for nothing.

Dean, Maedhros, Sam, and Maglor fighting tooth and nail against their fates until they’re dragged kicking and screaming. These brothers who didn’t know what they were getting into, but it’s too late now.

But they’ll pull every scrap of good they can out of it.

What choice do they have?

John and Fëanor weeping over the fates they brought on their children.

John and Fëanor consumed with madness and vengeance, pulling their sons into their vendetta, no matter the cost.

John and Fëanor dooming their sons to a fate worse than death.

John and Fëanor knowing what they’ve done is unforgivable.

John and Fëanor whose sons sometimes can’t figure out if they love or hate them.

Dean and Maedhros so so tired at the end of it all. A final death is their only release.

Sam and Maglor as the ones who watch them and have to survive.

…At least we know Sam gets to see his big brother again.

following on from this. not to always bring marc into everything (sorry marc) but if assen 2015 had happened against jorge, valentino would have very likely pulled something similar again imo. rather than what he actually did, which is approach marc almost immediately for a nice normal friendly handshake and backing off during the podium celebrations. should be noted that during laguna seca '08, valentino was very much committed to yapping at casey on the podium with the world's biggest smuggest grin on his face

partly that disparity is because jorge not marc was the direct title rival, partly it's because valentino was treating marc with kid gloves right until the second that he wasn't, which marc was seemingly entirely oblivious to. if anyone other than marc had said what he said in that presser, had then continued on with similar rhetoric during sachsenring, valentino would quite likely have gone nuclear. he's done it over less than that. his fondness for marc made him continue to exhibit uncharacteristic restraint... except that fondness unfortunately is what left valentino feeling so very betrayed when (to his eyes) marc could not leave well enough alone
