that charlie redesign wanted me to redesign some others so here are some others, i was going to do husk, nifty, and sir pentious but i didnt feel like doing that

i wanted to give her this soft color palette, making her stick out from the rest of hell, like an "angel" in hell

gave her a pink suit like her pilot design

gave her gold accents to give that royalty feel

her hair is now more curly/swirly to giver her a sheep look, along with the ears, kind of like how lucifer is associated with goats charlie has sheep

i also gave her ears to maker her not look like just a human

the darker pink-red color is supposed to contrast with her softer colors but not that much, it's supposed to convey that she is still a demon, the horns were also added to give that feel

bigger cheek makeup (?) and those gold "chains" were added to giver her a circus clown/ring leader look because hell is supposed to be like a circus

gave her tap shoes to convey shes likes music or someshit

darker color to contrast with charlies, a sun and moon thing going on

made her more moth like by making her hair look like moth wings, fuzzy leg warmers, and antennas (are those even antennas do moths even have antennas)

added a silver like color in her design to match with charlies gold

gave back her stocking from her pilot design and made her hand warmers mirror them

Im obsessed with your horseshoe crab bag and wanna make my own but dont have any leather working experience or knowledge, did you have a pattern you followed or did you just free hand it? also what would you recommend to someone wanting to try leather crafts for a first time?

I'll answer both this and a related question from @chaoticspaces:

hey! I’m in love with your crab bag. you mentioned you’ve never worked with leather; do you have any tips on where/how to start learning? or did you just wing it? I must preface that I’m a beginner at any sort of crafting and will have to learn the building blocks first but damn, people can just MAKE that kinda shit? I’ll learn to sew for that.

So it must be acknowledged that I am a fairly experienced crafter, I grew up sewing and sculpting and origami-ing and all sorts of crafty things. Meaning that although the horseshoe crab is my first experience in leatherworking, it's building off of existing crafting skills and experience thinking through how materials behave and how shapes interact. I say this as a preface not to discourage anyone from diving in, but rather so anyone who's newer to crafting can go in with a bit of perspective and not get discouraged if they don't get the hang of it right away! Be patient with yourself and keep pursuing the skills you want to develop.

With that out of the way, here's a (slightly abbreviated, but still Long) walk through what my process was like for drafting the pattern and learning how to work with leather!

Drafting the pattern

I started by looking up pictures of horseshoe crabs and doing a simple drawing of one from the top and from the side to get a sense of the shapes.

Then I broke it down into sections to make things easier on myself. Reducing things to basic shapes (crescent, box, wedge, cone, etc) is a good way to start making sense of a more complex form.

To make it work in three dimensions, I'd sketch what I think the shapes should probably be; cut out a mini version in paper; tape it together; go "hmm, that's not right," and adjust the sketch; repeat until I get roughly the form I'm looking for.

Once I had a general shape that worked, I recreated those pieces on paper again, this time full-size. That involved a lot of math to make sure all the proportions scaled accurately. Then I cut out those pieces and taped them together and adjusted any basic proportions again to fix anything that I scaled wrong.

At that point, I had a shape that read fairly well as horseshoe crab, and that would have been fine. However, I wanted things to curve and flare and be more organic, which is where a lot of the trickier adjustments come in. Using paper prototypes allowed me to work quickly and make changes easily. To exaggerate a curve, I'd cut the tape "seam", bend the paper into the desired shape, and then add or remove material from the adjoining sides until that curve stayed in place when re-taped. Each piece of the pattern is responsible for helping its neighbors stay in place.

After I got my paper prototype to a point I was happy with, I got some cheap sheets of kids' craft foam and made another prototype in that, but stitched instead of taped, in order to test the pattern as thoroughly as possible without having to use my actual leather for it.

Learning basic leatherworking

Youtube! I searched things like "introduction to leatherworking," "leatherworking techniques for beginners," "how to attach two pieces of leather," etc. There are a bunch of videos that show very detailed but not-too-lengthy examples of basic techniques.

Once I had seen a few examples and made a list of the basic tools I would need to get started, I went out and got myself some tools and scrap leather to experiment with. I watched some more videos showing how to use my tools, and followed along with them

Some of the techniques I looked up to start:

How to use an adjustable groover, stitching chisel, beveler, and wood slicker

Saddle stitching

Box stitching

Butt stitching (Yeah, I know)

How to set rivets in leather

What kind of leather dye/what kind of leather conditioner to use

I spent some time testing techniques, even ones I didn't need for this project, because the more time you spend with your material and tools, the more you'll understand how they work and how to get them to do what you want. I have a bunch of scraps lying around that just have random burnished edges, wonky rivets, stitches that don't go anywhere, etc.

I also found it helpful to look through leatherworking subreddits and follow leather crafters on instagram and look through what they're doing for inspiration, tips & tricks, and to see how they handle unusual shapes. Those subreddits can also be a good resource for finding existing answers to questions you have, or asking questions yourself.

honestly most omegaverse worldbuilding is so loosey goosey when it comes to the biology aspect so if you're asking me about like fandom tropes then i have no idea (remember this is the genre that started off with butt cloacas). i can tell you that for my au he only gets periods if i think its sexy aka edward little earning his red wings but otherwise i dont care much about the details therein.

my drawing process (thank you @pepper-ika!)

i draw and colour for a long long time. i don't do the traditional sketch + lineart + colour -- sketches are hard to line, they're kind of time-consuming and usually they end up better than the lineart, so i just draw like normal and clean it up before colouring. i start at the head and end at around the feet, kinda like a person showering (lol). here i'm using your typical pencil brush you can find in any standard art program.

a tip i got from another artist was to colour using a thick, opaque pen brush that varies a lot in width. it saves a Lot of time. before they showed me that, i made the mistake of using a soft, painterly brush to colour my art. it hurt my wrist because i had to press really hard to get flat colour -- when all that time i could have just been using a pen brush! also, i start with soft colours because they're nicer to look at.

2. i do colourful midtones like redness in the skin or maybe a blue five o clock shadow if they have one. from this point onward, i use a flat square-ish brush combined with a painterly smudger and a soft airbrush.

i read somewhere that you should apply perfume on the moistest parts of your body so i kind of use that same idea when drawing redness. usually i do it where skin meets skin: folded arms, a crunched back, closed hands, and that place where the thighs touch the buttcheeks, lolol. and of course: the nose, lips, and ears. it makes the skin look real and warm and lively!

3. i lay down my shadows and lights, usually in that order. and at this point, i'm throwing extra shadow on wrinkles, fat, bumps, lumps, etc. a body without rolls is like an angel without wings!

also i smudge like CRAZY here. just like how it's impossible to have "too much gravy" on your chicken, it's impossible to have "too much blending" when you're drawing skin. blend that ish.

when it comes to the colour of the shadows, i always make shadows the base colour but darker and more saturated, and i move the hue a little to the left (for example: orange goes to red, green goes to yellow, purple goes to blue). i do that with, like, every colour. i can't tell if it's lazy or not but at this point i'm too scared to ask.

4. finally i make some minor adjustments like liquifying to fix lopsided eyes or oversized heads/hands. when i was in high school, my art teacher would say "great, but watch the size of the feet, hands, and neck," lolol. he was right ofc. when i go "hm... that looks a little weird," i have to trust that gut feeling because when i do fix it, it ends up looking way better. here is a horrifying gif illustrating that.

alternatively you could do a messy line and color, then do a whole paintover like i did here. this is awesome for details because you dont have to go back and change the lineart - you just paint over and add whatever you want and redraw the line to fit it.

i dont really use the different layer modes that much. in this one i used a gradient map of the drawing as an overlay. idk if that really does anything major but it does create a new range of colors to play with. i also used a multiply layer to cast a big shadow over the card (layer 8) because it has this tiiiny little pattern that would be a pain in the butt to draw shadows over. everything else is pretty standard.

(and no i dont name my layers... yes i will be changing my name and moving countries)

another thing worth noting: i use airbrushing A LOT. i remember reading somewhere that using airbrushes is like. a cardinal sin. it’s not, man. it’s great. airbrushes and smudging are dope and i use them all the time.

And in last place we have Luke, you may be wondering "why is he in such low position? I went back and forth a lot about who should be in this position, and I end up choosing Marius. Marius is a thirst trap guy, like in "Dream of Thebes" or "Eternal Flame", he also have the fuckboy personality, but not in a bad way, he overflows charm, so why is he only in 3th place, and the reason is simple, Marius is a boy with lots of potencial of becoming the biggest whore, but he is yet to blossom, he is an investment, you can see he trying to keep up the playboy persona, and we can appreciate that, because suit him well

2. Artem Wing

Some of you may not agree with me in this one, but this is my list I do what I want.

So why is Artem in 2nd place? Let me put in this way, if Marius is thirst trap guy, is because he is trying to be sexy, and Artem, my friends, he doesnt need to try, he just is that sexy. God, the moment we first see him in the game is a thirst trap, and the game do this so much with him, where he is put in the most sluttiest poses, and just make him so unaware of it, I mean, at least until this man discovers what sex is, because after this man lost his virginity, he started actively being a whore. 1. Vyn Ritcher

Honestly, I wanted to pretend this choice was hard, but it wasn't, there was no way any other character could be first, when competing with a horny bastard like Vyn. Unlike Artem who is oblivious to how sexy he is, Vyn is very well aware of it, not only that he knows how to light up the desire in others for him, this man has an ungodly amount of rizz, and we can see that in the main story, and his solo story, not only with Rosa, but with literally anyone, he is constantly using his charm to get what he wants, and he does is beautifully, differently of other characters that tend to be in suggestive situations to be slutty, he doesnt. And when it come to the more smutty stuff, we can see a kinda of different side of him, like I keep thinking this one card, if im not mistaken is his 3rd birthday card, where Rosa tied his hands behind his back with tie while he is on his knees and she is undressing him, and Vyn relentlessly tease her, even a submissive position, he still in control of the situation. That ladies and gentleman is top tier slut behavior, and dont get me started in the tot 2nd anniversary card, so yeah, this is why he is first place.

Self: little Azedi was insecure about herself as FUCK! She suffered a lot of verbal abuse in her early years by her mother, that was extremelly narcisistic, that always put her down for her looks. Caunting also that she was SAd...she felt a lot weird about her body. She probably had problems with looking at her own reflection for a while, feeling disgusted with herself. That's why she wore a lot of baggy clothing back in the day. As an adult she grows out of it, but still doesnt fully accept her own body a lot, she just lives with it. And dont get me STARTED on how much regret she feels for her past actions. She is costantly tormented by them.

Mentor: Azedi had two mentors: Kazuhira and Quiet. Kazuhira took her under his wing himself, as he felt pity for her, due to how bad her condition was when she first got into base. He tought her English, helped her with any problem she ever had, and protected her whenever he could. He grew so affectionate to her that he even became a little overprotective...but he loved her like a daughter. He wanted to adopt her if it wasnt for...chapter 24 :>. Quiet didn't choose to be Azedi's mentor. She just helped her clean herself once after she got into the base and...the next thing she knew was that she had a teenage girl forever attached to her butt. But at the end, she grew very fond of her, they were like sisters :)

Meet Strange: the weirdest encounter she ever had was with Mantis. When she was 14, in the base, she was in the bathroom, minding her business, when suddenly this little flying fuck appears.      Dean Winchester woke up to the sound of whimpering. He felt a massive wight on his legs and back. He groaned looking over his shoulder at the massive fawn brown and black German Shepard, eyes open and ears perked, it's muzzle nestled between his shoulder blades.

          "G'mornin' Colonel." Dean mumbled to the shepherd. The dog wagged his tail and stood to sniff Dean over. The wight on his legs lifted and he was attacked by a huge English mastiff puppy, licking and flopping on his head. "Sarge... no..." Dean mumbled around a mouth full of a massive puppy toung. Colonels face screwed up into a snarl and his long shepherd muzzle hit the clumsy pup on the neck as a low growl started in his chest. 

          "Sargent, listen to Colonel!" The firm voice of his partner sounded from beside him and the puppy stopped and went over to her.

     The young woman sat up rubbed her face tieredly and pushed her wild main of curls out of her face. Dean rolled over and smiled at her, as Colonel and Sarg nuzzled into him and settled down again. She looked down at him from her seated position and smiled ear to ear. It still caused Dean's heart to skip a beat.

          "Good morning handsome." She cooed leaning over to his him then diverting at.the last moment to kiss Colonel and Sarge on the muzzles.

         "I hate you." Dean grumbled.

          "Baby, is there anything Captain Morgan here can eat?" Dean asked.

He ordered in a fatherly tone "... make sure you tell Dean about Bane tonight though kiddo... I know he said no more... he told me to make sure you didn't get another... though you don't listen to no body when it comes to animals so what'd he expect me to do..." Bobby grumbled as he walked out the room and down the stairs of his house.

          "Dean is gonna be so mad." Danis voice shook as she spoke to Edris. The Malinois jumped from the chair to the bed and licked the tears from her face as they slid from her eyes. Bane nuzzled her legs comfortingly from his spot on the bed.

     Dani lay there fretting and coming to the conclusion in her exhausted mind that Dean would leave her over this... maybe if she lied and said she'd had an affair with a Sioux Falls hunter, laughed and said kidding, then broke the news of Bane that the dog wouldn't be so bad.

     But lying is wrong... it wouldn't be wrong if she told the truth right away. Her exhausted brain reasoned as she face timed Dean.

          "Hey baby! I miss you!" Dean answered smiling brightly at her. Danis heart ached and she started rambling.

          "I have something to tell you and I'm so sorry... but I've been so tiered and lonely, and he saved me while we were hunting that pack of werewolves... and Dean I'm so sorry..."

          "Son of a bitch, please don't tell me you got another dog!" Dean exclaimed rubbing his face.

          "I'm sorry... but he saved my life and he trusts me,, and he's been abandoned before and if I leave him again I'll be abandoning him too and i cant do that to him! Not when hes in thw condition hes in and after he saved me!" Dani started sobbing.

          "Baby girl listen to me! You're exhausted! Go to sleep! I love you... even if you're bringing home another damn dog... all me in the morning and I'll see day after tomorrow ok." Dean soothed. Dani sniffed and nodded.

     A day and a half later Dani arrived home with Bane and Edris. She walked timidly into the bunker head kinda low, Edris ran off to find her buddies, but Bane followed her timidly, still limping from his injuries.

          "Hey sweerheart." Dean greeted her givingnher a quick peck and a bear hug. "I saw the body cam footage of him saving your life... I get it..." Dean whispered in her ear as he hugged her.

          "Thank you..." she replied.he stepped back and tilted her chin up so her head wasn't hanging "head up dog mom..." He smirked. He then turned to the wolf dog. The 3ft tall lanky and strong animal approached Dean submissive as he gingerly checked Dean out. 

     Dean let the wolf dog lean on him indicating he was ready to be addressed. Dean squatted to eye level with the wolf dog scratching his ear.

i AM trans (genderfuckery nonbinary but afab and post some medical transition but NOT bottom surgery of any sort, which i dont want). i also a) write a lot of smut and b) have had people make angery faces at me regarding the trans characters ive written in porn because..... they werent to that person's taste

so heres the lowdown: youre never gonna make everyone happy with what youre writing ever at all, regardless of what ur writing. trans characters in sexual situations is a hot button for a lot of people because a lot of people experience dysphoria about aspects of their body that they can project onto characters, and there are people trying to white knight those people because it seems like the "correct" thing to do

OBVIOUSLY if youre trans you should be ashamed or otherwise uncomfortable with your natal body and sex using your natal junk should make you feel bad; i very much fell into this thought pattern as a baby trans in the mid aughts because there wasnt a ton of info i knew how to access about transfolk who didnt want bottom surgery like me, but its not something that applies to everyone all the time forever. id wager that trans folk these days are more comfortable with their body pre- or early- transition in part because there are folks lovingly putting bodies like ours into sexual situations, even folks who do eventually want bottom surgery (like one of my transfemme friends)

when it comes to writing smut tho, my general guide for how i present transness is: what kind of story am i telling and how does the characters' trans- or not trans-ness play a part? is it something short and sweet (pwp baybee) or is it a longer form story with a whole plot arch?

from there i pick out why i want to go with a trans character for the story as well as a couple key elements about their transness: what is their comfort levels in their self? what is their cultural background like and how does it view gender and transness? what is their partner like and how do they interface with transness both as a whole and with this specific character? stuff like that

FOR EXAMPLE i have an oviposition oneshot that i opted to go with a trans man as the bottom, with piv sex, specifically because i personally get the willies at the idea of eggs goin up the butt, but i wanted to play around with the kink. my trans character was canonically demi and very dry, who plays his cards close to his chest, so the vibe i went with was him being very horny for this idea and his partner, but also ashamed of it, in part because he has an inherent discomfort with his body but also because i hc the matriarchal culture he comes from idealizing the feminine and so transing in a masc way is looked down on, even if being trans in "general" is fine and fairly normal. its a one shot, the world building is mostly implied even if its in my head, so while it all feels fleshed out and intentional, its really broad strokes personal horny wish fullfiment as someone who ids strongly with this character and doesn't want bottom surgery. the same concept could have been written with the trans character as the top and his cis boyfriend as the bottom with a fantasy ovipositor strap that was established in the set up as a thing he totally has played with before, and that would be a very interesting story! just not the version i wanted to write

i have a longer form fic idea ive been noodling for a while with the same set of characters where theyre both trans men, just at different stages of their transition. the bulk of it is going to be about one starting the medical part at the same time he meets the other, and the journey he goes on as a very private person with few friends, and how the other clocks him immediately and gently takes him under his wing. the sex i plan to include crosses the whole spectrum of experience, with both characters bottoming at various points, and the *point* of the story is that exploration of experience, finding out how ur body changes and what parts of sex are or are not enjoyable and how that too changes as you get more and more comfortable in your self. there likely wont be the fantasy equivalent of bottom surgery because i, again, am personally not interested in it, which means i, personally, would not feel like i could do it justice

because bottom surgery does not mean someone suddenly isnt trans anymore. transness is a LOT more complicated than that, and even if someone is totally cis passing even during sex, there are a lot of things they have to do to maintain their body and bespoke junk, and a lot of emotions that are wildly different from a cis person with the same kind of flesh, because yeah, transness is very much an experience of and approach to gender that is the antithesis of "cis", regardless of who you are or how youve trans'd ur gender

to be trans is to be intentionally transgressive with gender, and that can be applied to a *lot* of people outside of the very narrow focus of clear cut, heavily labeled transness that tends to crop up in modern fandom spaces. similarly, there are no two people who experience gender the same exact way, even if theyre cis--there are as many genders as there are people, because we are all different, so it makes sense that we would have different tastes in portrayals of gender and gender transgression and transgender characters, in or out of sexual situations, and it makes sense that theres no consensus on the right way to do it. u have ur way, that's it, and as long as youre respectful and write from experience youre familiar with (even if its just research), thats the right way to do it, cos thats the only way you can

(disclaimer of: i am just One Guy and this is just my opinion, but gatekeeping the ability to write a character both forces people to out themselves to claim own voices and discourages people from exploring other experiences besides their own, and that is BAD. id take 10000000 imperfect but trying stories about someone like me over a handful of own voice stories where the author is harassed about their own experiences not lining up with the masses as a whole, so ya kno)

(further disclaimer: is "natal" still the current preferred way to refer to pre transition bodies? language moves so god damned fast these days dont @ me for being old lmao nobody can agree on language anymore either)

i'm not in this fandom anymore, but i've been thinking about this lately and thought i'd ask.

the fandom i was in, there was a trans character that i really loved, and since i love writing smut, i wanted to write one that included this character. however, there was no indication in canon of whether this character had surgery "down there" or not (i don't know how to phrase this, i'm sorry), and while that's definitely fine, i saw fans really divided on what the situation was and which would be "disrespectful" to write this character with. i saw arguments against both ways, ones that said without the surgery were fetishizing, and with the surgery were "basically writing the character as cis", which meant i never knew which would be the "right and respectful" way to write this character in smut, since both had been called disrespectful. i ended up leaving the fandom before i could figure out how to write smut for my favorite character.

thinking about this again, how should i have handled this?

This sounds like a situation where people have strong personal feelings about the character being shown as one way or the other, and they're using arguments to make people feel bad for doing the opposite. If they can make you feel bad enough, you'll stop writing the thing they dislike (or at least, that's the assumption)

It happens a lot in fandom. Like, a lot - with characters, with ships, with redemption arcs, you name it.

This character is an imaginary person, and therefore they can be anything at all. There are trans people who make changes to their bodies and there are trans people who don't. They're still trans either way - that "they're basically cis" argument doesn't track for me at all. Transness is about the person and their relationship to their gender, not about what junk they happen to have in their pants at any given time.

As with so many things in fandom, people are going to disagree about what they do and don't want to read. That's fair. In order to allow people to make informed choices, you could add a tag or an author's note so that they know going in and can decide not to read further. If they make a big stink about it after being informed, then that's their problem not yours.

I'm not trans and I haven't written smut for a trans character yet, and I apologize if anything I've said above is ignorant or misinformed. Please do correct me in the notes. I want to be supportive of trans fans 🏳️‍⚧️

If anyone knows of good tags to use in this situation, please do leave them in the notes. Are there other good ways to make this clear so that people who like a particular interpretation of a character can find those fics and those who hate it can avoid them?
