listened to the first volume of the trigun stampede ost and oh my god i love music so much,, my silly little composer brain just going INSANE like i love how they use instruments in the show - especially the piano!! the way the minute you hear a piano you're like 'oh shit its knives' and how in ep 3 there's the non diegetic-diegetic shift where we think the piano is just a part of the ost but NOPE he's in jeneora rock and he's playing and he's gonna fuck shit up and the first time we hear a piano isn't even when we first see knives!! it's when they show a plant for the first time, which is!!! the music is telling us something that hasn't (i dont think?) been revealed yet in the show (other than that knives and the gung-ho guns are collecting plants) aghhhh and the way the ost shifts from bluegrass-western to orchestral sci-fi and everything in between is INCREDIBLE, it's like the huge gap between instruments is creating a divide between earth's technology and the plants + project seeds vs the current inhabitants of no man's land

i think its infinitely funny that hxh 2011 decided that nagareboshi kirari should go 76-98 and hyori ittai should go the rest of the series until the end of chimera ant bc like. like

listen i get it. i understand why those songs were chosen for those parts of the arc. hyori ittai is the most thematically fitting so it gets put during the climactic second half and nk is a love song they mostly use as a killua leitmotif so it gets put at the start during a lot of emotional build up

but its hilarious bc hyori ittai is a huge bop and it plays right after some of the most emotionally devastating scenes in the world so ur just sitting there watching the banging ed like. 😨 dont get me wrong if i had to watch nk after smthn like 131 i wouldve killed myself but u understand right. its so funny

A non musician analysed Kierans themes. Part 1

Alrigth, if you know me that much, you know that alongside my obsession whit writing and fanfic and reading, I am a music fan and a videogame ost sucker.

I love to find narratives in music despite the only music concept I actually know is the leitmotiv. I'll probably just point out things you already know , but this is a good procrastination to avoid write a little.

Kieran's first battle theme

The two leitmotifs this "medieval " banger has actually pop up in the first 5 seconds we hear.

Leitmotivs

1- The first thing we hear are some fast notes that get played in a synth. This is at least for me a leitmotif since last battlr chanpion battle have a similar start that uses the same notes just re-organized.

This one migth simblize hus anxiety, at least 4 me, since its a fast and ascending thing

2- After that we got met whit a violin,that starts playing an intro melody, this one is also a leitmotiv since we can hear the same exact melody in "Kierans rage" and some times later.

This one represents hia joy or and passion of battling at least 4 me

Things worth pointing out

There are some things I find interesting overall due to the stage of the characther when he battles using this theme.

1- Also if we check Carmine's theme we hear how it starts whit this exactly same way, the first aynth notes are exactly the same and then the exact following violin melody its played except its played in a synth, in a sligthly slowet tempo and another tone

I find interesting how we hear Carmine's theme first, what makes this "Kieran is under Carmine's shadow" thing even more evident. We will think "Kieran's theme starts like Carmine's" and not "Carmine's theme starts like Kieran's"

The similarities make sense since this is the Kieran that's under Carmine's shadow the most. He starts pullin her away and that's when the similarities start to fade

Afther that the rest of his themes doenst start up exactly like Carmine's, and the 2nd leit motiv i pointed out its just used again in the champion theme

2- I cant help but find this theme so medieval like, so fairytaily like. If you tell me this is a battle ost for a Dungeons and Dragons like game, I would buy it completely. You can imagine the goblings, gremlings, dwarfs and obviouslythe ogres. I dont know exactly if its the instruments choice or the melody building but I can't help but notice it

All the characther lore is based on his love for "fantastic stories" , Kitakami folklore and the ogre. This is just accurate. The flute alongside the violin feel like just the rigth option to bring me that fairyteily feeling

3- Well, I also can't help but notice haow alongside fantasyous, it feel heroic. The xilophone? giving the cheerful rhythim Alongiside the flute for the higthest tones, the piano for deepnes and the epic sounding violin make this feel like following the story of some sort of knigth.

By example: 0:36. (Or the chorus) sounds kknda almigthy

He thinks he can be the hero in the story. And damm that feeling is potrayed in the sound and tome of the song.

4- I would also like to point out how the violin takes all the stage, that could be seenn as something that just fits due to the medieval and heroic demenaurs. But the final outcomes and portrayals of the instrument in the later themes makes me want to point it out as something deeper.

Taking in mind how the violin turns put it could simbolize how he sees the MC or the ogre. You can see how the insttument sounds heroic epic and hopefull in this theme. And considering how he looks up yo both the oc and ogerpon makes it so interesnting

I Hope you enjoyed this! In no-that-much time I'll bring ya the one for the two themes left. Im lookin foward to the champion theme as its the more juicy to analyse

havent seen the show. is it true that vaggie and charlie dont get a single duet in the show until the last episode???

i wont claim to be an expert on writing musicals, but a song that establishes the relationship between the main character and their love interest should come early right? to me the expectation would be that chaggie should have their own recurring leitmotif that gets flipped on its head during their conflict (charlie finding out vaggie is an angel) and then brought back around by the end to show the growth in their relationship once they make up

for fucks sake do they even kiss? or flirt? or do anything? i know we all say that viv didnt come up with chaggie originally but are we even sure she knew they were together at ANY point during the production?

They kiss after their duet in the last episode and that's about it. I think there might be a blink-and-you-miss-it cheek kiss in there something, but I think I blinked and miss it.

Other than that, no. They don't flirt, kiss, hell, they don't even start referring to each other as girlfriends until a few episodes in.

he goes by he/him and hes a regular mahopon, he wanted to be a megaton though unfortunately he was too short and lacks a mouth. despite that he taped a horn onto his staff and uses mahopon magic or somethin idk to make it work. he is not the brightest but hes moreso clumsy than anything else. he really admires any megapon or ton or men and may get distracted having a autism moment in the middle of a battle. also he doesnt have actual magic mant/cape vamp, he made this replica himself because it looks cool :>

havent really decided on chickens pronouns yet they havent came to me so ill be using they to refer to chicken for now

anyway, chicken is a Chigyobi Cannogabang or if we pretend patapon 3 doesnt exist. a chigyobi robopon. theyre a gremlin who loves to make things explode. for fun. theyre also smaller than the average patapon but that will not stop their path of destruction. they are very energetic and fast and the kind of guy to go blehhh :P after breaking something :]

shes quite neutral on the patapons not really seeing them as a enemy, but still keeps an eye out knowing theyve taken down many zigoton forces before

also. he is short. he wears stilts to seem tall.

dont let his hat fool you, he is not a general or high ranking at all, he just likes this hat. he does want to be a general one day though, and looks up to the current ones a lot. hes not very good at fighting though and its honestly quite incredible hes still alive, though he is quite good at identifying what went wrong/what to improve on, unfortunately though a lot of the time people interprete it moreso as him looking down at them rather than constructive criticism :[ he gets very excited sometimes and someone else needs to take him out of a situation to help him calm down.

Mediaposting 2024, #6: Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2/The Great Ace Attorney Resolve

Completed: April 21st, 2024 (/i still have to watch the DLC episodes that didn't get released with the official loc, I guess but I'm not playing it any more so ?? lol)

Time spent: 49.5 hours (will be like 50.5 after the DLC stuff)

Rating: 9/10 (more objectively. but a very biased 9.5 in my heart.)

ohhhhh my god alright where do i even start with this. i guess i also have to talk about dgs1 a little bit in this review/mini completion log but I will TRY and keep it to just 2. [editor's note: somehow succeeded with this! lfg]

first, to get the non-spoiler parts of this out of the way:

please for the love of god play this fucking game if you've played the original AA trilogy but not the DGS duology. i can not stress this enough. i would not recommend playing them as your FIRST aa games because a) they will set your bar way too high (and too low simultaneously bc wow dgs1 still has whack as hell pacing) b) there are a few details, especially in this particular game, that will evoke no reaction in you if you haven't played at least the main three games but WILL cause you to start gnawing on drywood if you have Knowledge Of The Future

the whole dgs duology - and specifically as a duology, bc 2 makes no sense without 1 but 1 by itself is not on this level - is absolutely in my top 3/4 AA games now. i admittedly have not replayed the original trilogy in quite a while, buuuuuut T&T/AAI2/DGS1+2 are my new top 3. not necessarily in that order, give me a bit to think about it lol.

im going to be thinking about this game for the rest of my life probably. i can see why my best friend wanted me to play it for uh. seven years. because yeah it really is that good.

i want to cosplay four different designs from it. i have not wanted to cosplay anything new (to me) since neo twewy came out three years ago. take that as you will.

music still slaps. obviously. my favorite new song is absolutely partners (IYKYK) but agh. the new theme(s) that characters get are all so fucking good. clenches fist. the leitmotifs

definitely becomes relevant in retrospect in a few places where capcom obviously cut the hell out of the budget but they saved it for where it matters so i dont care. im also uh. very used to low budget VNs so frankly even 3D models are better than I'm used to LMFAO. i also you know. didn't realize that they did that until after the fact. so. they hid it well

if you havent played this go and play it (after playing the original AA trilogy). please for the love of god im on my hands and knees.

everything below the cut (i.e. below this point) has blatant unfiltered spoilers. you have been warned.

okay so welcome you've presumably played all of dgs2 if you're reading this. i have THOUGHTS. a lot of these will come off as critical/negative but i need to strongly emphasize that these are the only reasons that this game is not a 10/10 for me and otherwise i'm in love with it. it is fucking CLOSE. i am not talking a lot about the things i really love because that is.............................a lot of the game for me and we'd be here all day. the critiques are much more limited in number. but. you know.

dgs2 absolutely has much, Much better pacing than dgs1 does overall. it does not take 3 cases to get past a bunch of tutorial cases. this is a good thing. however..............the first two cases are still very slow. i won't call them pure filler, because a) reminding us about yuujin was a very good idea, b) they contribute to the Themes of the game. and im glad hosonaga was there again and (of all of the side characters we could have had) seeing souseki was good. i like them. but they really didn't need to be there to fulfill the themes of the game. case 2 in particular feels like a filler case, which I do not love given how tight the rest of the plot feels. if anything i feel like they should have done an interim flashback case without susato, as much as I adore susato, because as-is it's canon that ryuu had 3 cases in the span of a week. which feels INSANE

speaking of better pacing: im so glad dgs2 remembered that AA games can take investigation breaks between courtroom shit because running through ALL of the trial after ALL of the investigation in 1-5 was. let's say. taxing. the 'finding their footing' aspect of the first game

i do kind of wish we got One more case with the masked apprentice where susato wasn't there at all for the entire case. if only because then the delay between ryuu Thinking It and susato Knowing it would be even more painful. but i do really appreciate that they don't try to make it a woah big reveal as much as a painful "i know who you are but you don't." really adds a certain je nai se quois or however the fuck you spell that. idr. its 1 am when im typing this

also hey asougi can we fucking unpack how susato (the girl you were raised with to some extent, probably not like your sister but your weird younger cousin) called your name and you didn't remember who you were but you DID remember when you saw a wax reconstruction of your dead dad. can we fucking talk about that for a minute. can w

speaking of asougi. my god. they did such a good job with him. i think i wouldn't have cared nearly as much about him if all we had was the dgs1 stuff but his extreme motivation for the truth almost turning him into a violent attack dog is. aaaaaaaaaah. god. and the parallels between him and his father's followers (read: the von karmas) that one has from playing the mainline AA games. truly brainworm material

speaking of this: i can absolutely tell they did NOT think about writing the professor stuff with this game until they added in the masked apprentice - before he got turned into asougi - even though the reaper was obviously something that was planned. i do not care personally about this, because game dev is weird as hell and it REALLY works with asougi and van zieks' character arcs. in the same way that i don't think [SPOILER CHARACTER] from vlr would have been as good without the knowledge of 999, i think if barok had been foiled against a new character it wouldn't have worked as well. all that said. it sure is obvious they didn't know what they were doing. this makes me even more impressed that that they got it to work at all

the same is true of everything with the hound of the baskervilles but im really glad that they took it in the direction that they did.

also man it is so obvious that they probably wanted to have this be a proper trilogy like the original trilogy but then budget happened. because 2-3 through 2-5 all slap but they feel so fucking weird next to 2-1 and 2-2. like i dont feel that theres anything missing per se but a little more time for character growth would have been nice. hell even adding in an extra case (and/or editing 2-2....)

the only writing thing, aside from. 2-2 being like that. and the other weird pacing issues..that extensively is off to me is the whole assassin trading plot. i do think it is Very stupid and that they clearly wrote themselves into a corner with 1-5 on how to deal with it because they just...proceed to not deal with it until 2-4 and 2-5. however. even with that said. i actually kind of like that it is so stupid. because stronghart definitely feels SO obsessed with his version of justice that he wouldn't think through the potential downsides of having two free-roaming assassins running around and maybe coming to get his ass. obvious flaw that would not occur to him because of his insane ass behavior

its still dumb. but it's ace attorney dumb. so i can excuse it a little bit

stronghart being a damon gant expy was funny but goddamnit was it predictable. making him be so obssessed with justice that he talks to ryuu about it for 4 hours was funny as hell though and absolutely adds to him as a character. still dont like him that much Personally but hes definitely a character

his breakdown was peak. by the way. top 3 breakdowns in the series

and, most surprisingly of all for me.....fucking barok van zieks. i would not call myself a Fan of him in the way i am a Fan of asougi and ryuu, but i am obsessed with him. he did so many things wrong but realizes he genuinely fucked up and wants to atone for it. he gets genuinely upset in prison when he can't join the red-headed league. he's a professional alcoholic. he has bats in his office (???). what is wrong with him. (i know the answer is 'literally everything that could be wrong with a person.' but still

i love every single character in this game (or i hate them but because they were written to be hated)??? how did they manage this again. dgs1 helps so much here because the character growth.

argh. the character parallels with everyone realizing their parent / mentor figure was fucked up and/or hiding shit from them in some way. thinking emoji rotating in a circle goes here

16. What makes you immediately close a fic that otherwise seemed good?

hm...well, most of the time i try to stick it out even if i'm not enjoying the fic from the first few sentences. like, maybe it's just me but a lot of the first words of a fic tends to be the (for lack of a better word) "the gunk" that precedes the actual story? like some stories just have slow starts, but they do get gud.

but to answer the q, i guess stuff that makes me roll my eyes at a fic, in the context of x readers would probably have to be:

disclaimer: most of the time, i don't mind reading these. but there are just moments where they bother me as i'm reading

reader getting carried bridal style (i dont like it, i hate it. id rather be carried like a sack of potatoes. or id rather be carried like a goat by its shepherd. but i do like seeing characters getting princess-carried) just carry me like this instead 🤧🤧👇

royalty AU++CEO/office/corporate-setting AU (like secret princess of a kingdom or being a secretary, for example) i'm not a big fan of those kinds of settings. like ok sure a chara can look good in business formal or in some fine furs, but once the eye candy wears off thats when i exit the fic oops.

fics centered around marriage: i don't really enjoy reading proposals. also thinking of how the rings, the dresses, and the flowers look is hard bcs of my (partial?) aphantasia, but weddings Are Pretty Fun as a background setting. overall, i think what bothers me most is that the chara loses a bit of their personality after they get wed together with the reader.

^^actually in relation to this... im not that big of a fan of prom/dance settings, they both read very similarly, especially since the reader tends to be placed in the more passive role of being asked out. (but when you make it angsty or hurt/comfort, ok i will read it i'm a simple girl)

maybe in terms of recent ones, i could try analyzing madds buckley's my love is sick. i wrote about that album for a final paper in a basic music elective, but i was constrained to only 3 pages so i only talked about 2-3 songs. but i could pretend to be a music major and regale ppl with how the leitmotifs tie together and completely destroy me add a new layer of meaning to the songs on subsequent listens. Also like, these songs just Get It (not sure what "it" is exactly, but there's smth related to first love and love lost*)

GOD dont get me started on their outfits. (this was gonna be a reply but it ummmm it got long whoops)

akira's outfit is of course classic but it's Very interesting to see the way kasumi & akechi's outfits are similar and yet different from his. kasumi's red leitmotif & outfit in general is in the same fashion as his (the red gloves and big black coat) which to me indicates a sort of almost looking up to him in a lot of ways! and of course there's the heavy gymnast influences with the leotard as well which i loooove

akechi's outfit, meanwhile, is more different from akira's. the red accent is in his lenses, and overall his outfit is far more like... harsh lines and jagged edges which is a great contrast both to his original crow outfit and to the flowing lines of akiren's joker costume! yet, it still retains the color scheme, which to me emphasizes the way that they're so so so similar yet still so different!!!! ESPECIALLY BECAUSE HIS RED ACCENT IS IN HIS LENSES. IN THE LITERAL WAY HE SEES. THE FUCKING WORLD. AUGHHH!!!

kasumi's outfit being so similar to akira's is really striking to me!!!!!!! i hadn't thought ab that before but i adore the idea of it being a looking up to him thing i think you're so correct about that.... i also always interpreted it as a visual implication of simularity between the two (re: i wanna say... their unassumingness. akira is to most people just a nice kid :) a nice quiet guy who's a little weird maybe but has no real awful problems, other than the world being unfair to him! & obviously we haven't seen a ton of kasumi yet but like... if shes in this thing she's GOT to be deeply unhappy and fucked up in a major way somehow. we'll see. (& also of course we do see so far that she IS unhappy & often frustrated but trying so hard to keep the normal pleasant happy skin on....)

& akechi's fit!!! god!!!! god!!!!!!!!!!!!! & the red lenses make me fucking insaneee..... red for me is always like... guilt, right? and anger and violence... it's always tracked 2 me that joker's had red gloves specifically as a nod 2 that & what he does with his hands... & it's so insane that that's just. thats how akechi sees the world!!! yeah!!!!

after this latest ultimate extended rewatch with @lecampy i can finally say for sure: i like the hobbit movies more than the OT ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

All 6 are more consistent in quality than I remembered so there's less for me to get hung up on that i wasn't already accepting from the first movies -- there's infrequently wonky cgi, weird act 3 pacing, and stupid action sequences in the OT but they didn't get in the way of my enjoyment then, that's still the case for me here

i already like tolkien dwarves so all the focus on them was awesome, i like that they blended in some other tolkien works, i like that there were references to the cartoons and various illustrated editions

it must be said -- the soundtrack fucks! howard shore adds some new great dwarvish themes to the leitmotifs we're already familiar with and it works so well -- in particular its underscoring of thorin's descent is really really good

the biggest thing for me though is the characters. I am incredibly fond of all the dwarves, and bc the movies put effort into differentiating them I was able to quickly learn names. i always come away from a rewatching getting attached to a new character (this time its balin ;__;)

riddles in the dark! the barrel escape! goofy and heartfelt songs! outwitting trolls and bluffing dragons! i think all the best stuff from the novel is a lot of fun in large part bc freeman is the perfect bilbo, he handles this ridiculous, increasingly depressing procession of events with a combination of twitchy insecurity and desperate nerve and its exactly as i imagined

dont even get me started on armitage as thorin jesus christ holy fcuk. I'm still recovering and it's been a decade. his last scene had me in hysterics

in general bilbo is a more interesting and compelling protagonist, (all his little tics are so endearing!! there's like 50 Relatable Bilbo Moments per movie) and thorin's tragic character arc beats the shit out of anything from the OT. i wish i had 10 more hours of them interacting. i wish they had more time together

love the stuff with bard the bowman, he is a much more interesting figure than i initially gave him credit for, especially after laketown is destroyed and he's trying to care for all the refugees who immediately looked to him for guidance because he's the one that killed the dragon. he feels the weight of responsibility for their survival on his shoulders, his dragonslaying wasn't so much a feat as it is a prelude to the real work that is the result of prowess -- those who can, MUST. and that pressure drives his plea for thorin to just honor their prior agreement, and the feeling of betrayal when that plea is callously refused. its just like thorin taking responsibility for his people after erebor was lost (and the deliciousness of thorin treating bard like thranduil treated him, and the way the trauma of being abandoned to starvation and exile ripples out over years)

the critique i agree most with is the execution of the kili/tauriel romantic subplot, it could have been better developed imo, theyre really intense about each other after like one conversation LKJFdsjf

pacing is definitely wonky at times

specifically the pacing of the gandalf subplot was not as good as the main plot, but i think it was better handled in the extended editions

i dont think smaug was killed too quickly, or the confrontation was weirdly positioned astride the 2nd and 3rd movies bc the dragon isn't the most interesting antagonist of this story and there are more important things to explore, like thorin's descent into paranoia, his awful choices as a leader once he steps inside erebor and how theyre connected to his past experiences, and the way infighting leaves all parties vulnerable to destruction. but i'm someone who was bummed they cut scourging of the shire from the OT so i would enjoy stuff like this, those arcs that show the fallout after the Big Final Battle, (or what seemed like it at the time), where you have to reconcile real world shit like diplomacy w/ neighboring polities.

i still love the OT, its a classic for a reason, but the hobbit movies are underrated and i'll die on this (under)hill.

His character arc throughout adventure 2 through 06, his dynamic with Team Dark, the way he struggled to get a grip on his reality, his connection with Maria, there's just so much there! :D And OUGH I'm having such a hard time articulating my thoughts on this but Shadow <3

This is honestly the hardest question you could have presented me with. Especially considering most of my faves don't even remotely qualify. But I think I'd like to go with Gamma for this one. Just. Gamma dude. Everything about him is perfect (dont even get me STARTED on leitmotifs), and he might be one of if not my favorite "robot goes against their creator" stories. And who even knows? The world will never know what Gamma did. None of the characters know what Gamma did to reunite that family of flickies, except for maybe the flickies themselves. He sacrificed himself for something that he didn't compute. You just don't get better than that.

voice claims

So as you all might know. Andrew is a lesbian in my head and in my heart. Because of that i have some voice claims/headcanons for him. This is taking into account his character and also the 1 time he sang at all in canon. It was a certain sort of voice and style of singing, which is also what inspired these headcanons. I am biased because these are among my favourite vocalists everrr but also because. I have this thing where I dont really like male vocalists anyway lol... everything is under the cut ^__^

1. miss yoeko kurahashi! Her voice is incredible and very melodic. She has an operatic sort of delivery and I'm quite sure she is a music graduate. Aside from a dramatic and powerful voice, she has an intonation that can be considered somewhat grating or nasal at times, but in my opinion this only adds to her honest writing. Many of her songs are about her emotional/mental difficulties, often to an upbeat track. It's really beautiful to me and I think it would lend well to Andrew's character.

Here is another song by miss Kurahashi that I think is much more suited to his character; Scenario. It's one of the more chaotic of her songs that I've heard, but of course that is why I chose it as an example. The tempo changes throughout the song, starting with a snappish combination of piano and accordion, which is already very in-character. Yoeko's voice as she sings is clear and raw, and there is a quality to it that's desperate and exasperated, between complaining and pleading. And as the song goes on, it only gets faster, more chaotic and disconnected. I think it could almost be a leitmotif for him.

2. Kanazawa Suzuka of ATARASHII GAKKO! ohh miss suzuka.... Where do i start with her voice.........swooning.............

I originally wouldn't use anyone from a group like AG as a voice claim for Andrew, seeing as their whole schtick is along the lines of youth and rebellion, but SUZUKA's voice has the sort of pitch and dramatism that's perfect for his voice, and I think that it shows best and most accurately in the song "OTOME NO BIGAKU". I can't say that many other AG songs would fit Andrew at all because of this dissonance. The closest thing I can think of is "koi geba", but even that isn't quite right, because it's bordering on rock.

Andrew tends to sing in a deeper register than he speaks (according to my observation), so maybe it's a case of sounding like Suzuka when he sings (rare rare occasion but it is an existing ability), and more like Kurahashi when he speaks.

3. jun togawa my goat but she has too much game.

In Andrew's ideal world, this rendition of "Sayonara o Oshiete" by Jun Goatgawa would probably be his voice exactly. Her pitch is perfect, the theatrical vocals and the near-overdramatic expression all count towards a perfect voice claim. So, Nathaniel, you ask— what's the problem?

Well, the problem is that she's too good. Her bifauxnen swag is too princely and her bitches are too bad.

My target for Andrew's voice on the "operatic singing voice" scale, from cringe to camp to objectively good, is wavering somewhere close to the middle. Miss Jun Togawa falls much too close to the "objectively good" area of the scale to be a truly perfect voive claim for Andrew.

But maybe in his dreams........

How start to love favoritism and get redemption arc in LO.

So i want to talk about Underworld work, especially how much there prospers favoritism. There is you can read post why favoritism is bad

as in this post i started to interest in it after discussion between Daphne and Thanatos, but after i started reread LO i have seen how much Thanatos was right, but his position was shamed by everyone, by"good" characters, by audience, even Author have shown it as something wrong, and only he strated to love Persephone and thought that special attitude to her is fine, he became good person and start his redemtion arc.

i don't want to talk about how unbalanced this relationship is (I saw many posts about it and i have nothing to add), i am more interested how it influences on other co-workers.

Favoritism in underworld or maybe on Olymp seems to be something normal, because Hera given this work for Persephone for to get closer with Hades (it was hinted very clear), although they had antoher opotuinities for this, with their finances and love for Savor they could do Dinner party, ball, party etc where Persephone and Hades could know each other better. Why was love affair at work best variant for it? I sincerely have no idea.

Wherein Persephone said that she isn't enough skilled for this work, so someone enough skilled doesnt get this position, because Hera want to make couple from Persephone and Hades.

i would be fine if Persephone try hard for this job, yes, some characters said that she is smart, but I didn't see her labor and striving, i dont feel like she deserve this position, her only merit on that moment was beuty, it  s not enogh i think, btw to be nice and kind too. As they say in my country "a good person is not a profession".

Let's look on Underworld's bosses.

in story RS tried to show as Hades is hard worker, he preferred work to relationship, he thinks about work even in strip club and many characters said that he is so. But his behavior shows him absolutly from another side.

to my mind he and Hecata busy only his personal life. With Minthe and after with Parsephone.

as soon as Hades knew that Persephone in Underworld he left everything and flew to save her, very romantic, isn't it? but let's think a bit: Persephone came in dangerous closed facility (btw where their security system?) and made accident, it like someone broke in secret laboratory and start the fire, even if it accidentally it s not something that would be left without responsibility.

Someone can said: it's not her fault, it reptile Minthe! I partially agree with it (only partially) but it s truth for audience not for Hades, he didnt know it. For him it should be random person which got into forbidden place and acted badly there.

Hades reaction: he started to regret her, to apologize, to go everywhere with her, What the Hell was going on? oh yes and another co-workers had to look for Persephone`s brooch and cloak, so they had to left their their direct responsibilities, because somebody coulndt go away after she understood that this place is dangerous, she could wait after door of Tower 4 or befor Hades cabinet, she wouldnt lost anything in this way. But Persephone is sooo smart, isnt she, Hera?

btw very considerable moment Thanatos started to worried about his work when he knew that Persephone is liked by Hades, because he entered in train before her, does it mean that Hades not only choose favorites but shamed co-workers which dont like this favorites? we will see that yes he do it.

Another situation is presentation Persephone, oh i feel your cringe Minthe, i were in similar situation, my past boss forced our team to congratulate his girlfriend with birthday, should i say that we even didnt know her?  it was so awkward. when i read this part of story i feel the same cringe as in that day. Yeah this boss was kinda terrible, mb he didn't like me because i am not enough beauty for him? i have this feeling after LO reading.

First working day of Persephone is just quintessence of favoritism. initially Hecate went with her everywhere, after - Hades started to do it, they even changed his schedule and yeah i find indignation of Minthe and Thanatos (i dont care about their motives now) very reasonable and Hecates arguments were just silly. Why he should work with someone unqualified? and why boss dont have better business than to take an excursion ​on Underworld with new intern?

Hecate arguments is annoying, he cant said that she is unskilled (she is really so) because he eaten her baklava? great. Why they need to apologize for Persephone stupidity? Tell me someone pls, it s to hard for my mind. And yeah it's not school prom, mb Hades will start to work and stop flirting with new intern?

Oh i start to hate her, how she can be one of the favorite character by audience. Can she just be honest? Persephone is here and everyone go around her because Hades find her attractive.

Another favoritism example it is Persephone salary, Author could not accentuate that trainee dont get salary in Underworld, and it would be fine, okay she get receive income now but no, Persephone should be special and other interns aren't so special,  it would okay if she would work in office some time and she would be so hard worker that leadership would want to prize her for it. But she is just special, just because she is attractive for Hades. 

In chapter 88 Persephone confessed that she flirt with Hades, but she dont want special treatment, but she embarrassed only by business card, not salary, not that everyone worry about her. It shown as joke, oh ha-ha how naive Persephone, for me it looks not like joke, more like mockery for people who work hard and don't have such prizes, because they are not attractive for their bosses.

And in this chapter Hades left his working place and gone to decide Persephone's problems, problems other workers don't matter, but Hecata asked nice question.

i think no, how Hade's corporation are still active and success with such directors?

but actually no, looks like Thanatos and Minthe are still try to do some job, because only they could teach Persephone how to work with computer program (why is not Hermes? he works in the same position as Thanatos does it mean that he doesn't understand in this work anything because she even did not ask him?) and  I on Thanatos side in this, why he should spend his time for her?  (He already has trouble that he works worse than Hermes) and btw he tried to work, did not fawn for boss favorite, so he tried to make his work better in honest way.

And maybe she will try to read user guide? if she learned how to rule car from reading what is problem to do the same with computer program? and doesn't waste time of another workers.

Anyway It's strange that people which try to work are not fire yet. Because another worker who tried to do her work right was almost fired, because princess don't know her ID. Whose fault is it? Again for Persephone's fault another worker had trouble, and why is shown as humor again? why pain and fear are funny here, and it's unfunny where Gestia acted with Persephone in similar way. I think if it s funny it should be funny with everyone not only with defenseless and weak workers which isnt boss favorite.

and of course hades gone to bank with their interns, because what else he could do on the work? pffffff

the only time where Hades reaction looks adequate at the start at least, it accident where Persephone given coins to souls which made riot  because of it and again with it should deal other workers. everything what happened with Persephone that Hades was a bit angry and after they kissed, she transformation in butterflies, he forget about this accident and started to search what transformation means.

I thought it makes no sense to compare relationship Hades/Persephone and he\his other workers. For everything that she done any other worker would be fired, beaten, killed or something.

this leitmotif in LO if you like Persephone you are nice, if you don't - go to hell. Thanatos redemption start from his liking Persephone and think that Favoritism is fine.

Why it should care other workers and Thanatos especially? because they have trouble because of her, she tried to waste their time, and some great hard worker dont get any prize, where she get prize only for flirting with boss. their boss became unproductive and don't care about them, he think only about his sweet princess. 

So go away Daphne, pls. You are such smart as Persephone.

Btw Thanatos is gathering souls, and Hermes falsified counts of souls because of Persephone, i am not sure about that but looks like Hermes productivity were such great because of this falsification,  so if it is so, he can hate her with pure conscience, because he was blamed that he is lazy and bad worker and didnt get increase in salary.

So okay, i think Favoritism can be in fiction, but not how it was shown in LO, as something unequivocally positive and romantic, and Thanatos opinion was unequivocally shamed, everything it can work with grey moral story and such type of characters, someone can say: in LO characters are "grey", maybe, for me they are much worse than grey, but in story they dont show as grey, grey moral story it s when you can like any character and dont be in others eyes "misogynic" or no one will say to you "dont sit right with me" because of it, and another phrases which get person who prefered unpopular LO characters.
