#bg3#baldur's gate 3#minthara#minthara baenre#evil murder kitten#viconia devir#it's funny to think that at one point in her life minthara admired viconia and was impressed by her rebellion#and the more i learn about viconia in the previous games#the more i understand why minthara would admire her but also see her as a coward#viconia openly and willingly defied lolth fully understanding the consequences of what would come from it - but ran away#whereas minthara's hand was forced away from lolth by the absolute - but was still abandoned all the same (or so minthara thinks)#it's also interesting to see how viconia goes to willingly embrace shar - a god who has many similarities to lolth#and even demands that she use and abuse a child - which is peak irony as child murder is why she defied lolth in the first place#but minthara comes to shun them all and only sees benefit in the gods if there is something to gain#but even minthara thinks it best that shadowheart turns from shar in the end#i know fans of viconia regard bg3's portrayal of her as a character assassination and i don't disagree#but idk i feel like viconia's story could be a glimpse into one of minthara's many futures#especially considering that minthara is a deeply religious person and wants to have a god to worship

stopped reading a fic just there because it was insisting that thor & co went on many violent adventures pre-movies but of course left poor feeble loki behind cos he's a) feeble and b) blessed with a better understanding of imperialism than the rest, and there are a thousand other fics that also think this is obviously what happened but i think i may just have hit my limit on this one :\
#i know it's partly because if thor is Bad then we need loki to have not been on every one of those violent adventures but...#between this and Benevolent Pacifistic Jotuns i doubt many claims of “but *i* enjoy moral complexity!” in fandom#no you don't you just flipped the usual black-and-white morality in a way that doesn't even fit the story very well#FFS i've already got enough to deal with having to pretend that loki's significantly shorter than thor and as muscular as a stick!#and also he can't physically fight anyone when he clearly fucking does on multiple occasions#(but also he apparently SHOULD have won more fights in the loki series because He's Literally A God)#(ie he can fight if fighting is Good but not if it's Bad)#i'm also not a fan of the clear and rather unpleasant subtext in many fics that But Loki *Is* Better Than Those Ungrateful Peasants#*grabs u by the collar homoerotically* DO YOU BELIEVE IN MONARCHIES OR NOT SUSAN?!?! Fuck it. Jumping on the "Prove the Pansear Screenshots weren't Faked" bandwagon. Seeing so many people blindly cheer and reblog that callout post legitimately almost made me delete my blog in fear. I don't blame Pan for deleting at all and don't think that's automatic proof of guilt. No one cared about any potential victims, no one cared if someone got hurt, they just bragged about how "they've always known" and that's terrifying. If the screenshots turn out to be true i'll retract my statement and apologize, but for now im just scared for the rw community and where its headed because this isn't good

#merlin.txt#w/ the new computer the rest of act 3 went by super quickly#honestly i dont think my computer and my sanity would have survived all those cutscenes#ANYWAYS initial thoughts:#cried like a baby. ending credits songs really really good. i can't WAIT to start a new playthru. is there anything more terrifying than driving and realizing a driver near you is clearly under the influence, driving erratically and unpredictably
#actually yes there is something more terrifying and that is being in a car with a drunk driver. happened to me once when I was 24#and I got into the car of a friend who was (unknown to me) an alcoholic and very good at concealing drunkenness until she was in a car.#one of the worst experiences of my life and nearly ruined a friendship. sure permanently altered one. anyways.#that was scary as shit. I tried so hard to stay behind this car because I was afraid of them getting behind me and... idk rear ending me#and I tried so hard to avoid it but they did something VERY unsafe to get behind me and I basically took the next turn to get the fuck away#god I hate that. driving under the influence should get you exploded via instant karma. ugh#also I started tearing up once I'd finally gotten away from them so uh kudos to the drunk fucking driver for helping stave off hockey tears.#go get arrested immediately as your prize#don't drive drunk kids:) or high:) just fucking don't:)
