In retrospect the fact that there are no tapes of Jon stalking people and forcing them to relieve their trauma becames even more interesting, because yeah it could and in a sense does symbolize Jon's own shame of who he is Becaming and shows that he knows that what he is doing is wrong, that the others won't react well for it and are right not to (also is Jon and no one can convince me he wasn't trying to be in denial that it was even happening) but also it means that the Web doesn't care. There's suffering everywhere and an avatar hurting people is nothing new. It cares about the repercussion, about their pet project archivist but about Jon's loss of humanity and the people he hurt? They are explicitly - more than any other victim - colateral damage. The Web does not give a shit. Jon could have eaten the trauma of all of London for all they care. And in a sense we as the audience, as the people seing it by the curation of the Mother of Puppets, don't really care either. We care about the moral dilema,for what it means to Jon and in a lesser way to the others, but we don't really care for the random unamed person who is now eternaly rehaunted by his trauma thanks to the man that stalked them into a covenience store. I just I don't know how I feel about it, but I do like it. There's something very interresting and weirdly charming of seeing TMA by the lens of this matters to the Web (also I love how after the apocalipse the Web actually got interressed in Jon and Martin relationship, nothing like the end of the world to convince this eldrish god to enjoy a bit of pos apocaliptical romance).

hi! this is probably a weird question but do you like any jonsa fics that are not tagged for some reason? i'm new to the jonsa fandom so unfortunately idk much about the fandom history but... recently i stumbled upon a fic with no romantic and platonic pairing tags. i didn't really read it but i read somewhere else that sansa was with aegon in that fic. which doesn't rly matter in this context ig but well. i can imagine it's not tagged bc maybe the relationship is not the focus, or there might be some changes since it's over several hundred thousand words but still ongoing, etc etc. but with that, i was wondering if there are fics like that for jonsa? ig im asking partly bc of fomo for not checking fics outside of pairing tags, specifically for jonsa

Im halfway through TMA at this point - ive essenctially been binging nonstop since MAG 54, and I'm about to start MAG 103.

I stopped now so i could get a moment to properly process everything and like.........

How did we get here???

The first 50 or so episodes look so simple and straightforward now - Jon was a paranoid harumph harumph of a guy, Martin an awkward patootie, Tim the funny flirt that secretly held the braincell, Elias was shady and useless, Not!Sasha made me sad, the stories were spooky and inexplicable, and every time there was a live statement episode i did a little dance of excitement

Jon's character can be sumed up like this rn

Now suddenly Jon is an anime magical girl?? And a damsel in distress?? Except no one's coming to save him cause everyone lowkey/highkey hates him :T

And Martin and Tim..... God i feel for them so bad. Especially Tim. Hes so different from the 1st season. He sounds so dead inside and so upset. I want him to be able to leave so bad...

I adore the additions of Melanie, Basira and Daisy to the Archive, - i enjoy all of their voices so much, they sound so niiiice - but wow, talk about a status quo change, huh. Everything changed so damn quickly and surprisingly, it never felt forced

Elias is... honestly not a very threatning menace (though he's an asshole). Hes just kinda there. Spooky and menacing but also fairly chill unless provoked. He feels more like a neutral force with bad working methods, rly.

On a different note, though, we have Gertrude. Im kind of adoring finding out more stuff abt her. That lady..... Damn she was cool but so scary. Blowing up historical caves, understading so much abt the creepy creatures crawling the earth - i swear every time i hear more abt her she only gets scarier!

AAAAND i'm starting to take the statements less and less srsly :/ which is kinda sad. Think its because now I'm starting to recognize the creatures and the unknown element is slowly stripping away. Most of the statements that aren't directly involved with the bigger plot or dont particularly interest me, i just half listen to them in x2 speed (except for the endings, because they always have something)

One last thing: please don't kill any more assistants, podcast, I beg you... I have gotten to attached to all of them, and idk if jon could handle it (I wont either)

Huh. You know, it makes me think that Error is maybe another old archivist. I don't think it's Jon, it just wouldn't make sense. But maybe another one?? Also just...the way they talk to Error it feels like a fledgling vampire being annoying by the millenia old vampire grandpa waking up from their slumber going "MY PRECIOUSSSS" while the fledgling is like "come on gramps get with the times we don't do that anymore" but then when the old vampire goes to attack them they're like "AIGHT AIGHT UR OLDER AND STRONGER I GET IT ILL BACK OFF" like that's the vibes I'm getting.

So it's just like...Is Error old news or something? Maybe Error is what the institute was trying to destroy in 1999 but it only trapped it under the institute until Alice and Sam came for it?

And if it's an old archivist like I think it is (not Jon), then it probably was basically caught onto Sam and Alice like a homing beacon since those two DEFINITELY have statements.

I don't like the fanon characterisation of Jon. I'm not sure why, and I love canon Jon, but I find interacting with a lot of tma content difficult, because I don't like how a lot of people portray Jon, there's just something different about him to canon Jon that I don't like 🗣

For me I like a lot interpretations of fanon jon, but Im distinctly aware its not like canon. I like it but sometimes I just wish I could have what I see as canon jon being depicted LMAO. Alright! Before going into a character analysis, let's talk about Maya's story. Who is Maya Ducard?

Maya Ducard is a vigilante/hero called Nobody. She is the second person to take up that mantle. The first Nobody aka Morgan Ducard aka Maya's father, was killed by Damian Wayne in Batman and Robin.

Maya finds the remains of her father's corpse beneath the sea and watches the clip of Damian killing her father. So to take revenge, she goes after Damian to kill him.

But during that time, Damian goes into a redemption trip where he tries to undo the damage he did when he was an assassin.

During on of those missions, Maya and Damian cross paths and she tries to kill him. But when she finds out that he was on a redemption trip, she decides to go with him and ensure that he is doing what he's supposed to. And she tells him that in the end she'd kill him.

Damian let's her tag along and they go on adventures together, growing closer and closer. And in the end, Maya forgives Damian.

Now, going back to the topic. Coming across Maya fics are harder because there are too few. So I don't really know how the fanon portrayes her.

I do know that most of the time she is portrayed as a supportive big sister, which is true but she is also so much more. So in this post I'll give out some facts about her and explain her character using canon panels.

1. Maya does not like the idea of innocents dying:

Even when she was trying to kill Damian, she interrups her plans to save the innocent people. This tells us that she indeed has a pure heart. Along with her potential to be a hero.

2. She knows how to get inside someone's skin:

During the times where they have a temporary ceasefire, Maya does not hold back from hurting Damian with her words and trying to get under his skin. This tells us that whoever her target is, she will do proper research on them and make sure to know them on a personal level. Which makes her dangerous.

She has a sharp tongue, so don't forget to apply this trait of hers on your fics!

3. Abilities?

Maya does not have any super powers. But she does have a super suit with numerous abilities. The most prominent ones being: Invisibility, sonic boom devices that are built into her hands, a device that distorts people's eyesight. She is also a very skilled fighter.

Another very important thing to note is that, her father wasn't the one who taught her how to fight:

She learned how to fight by herself, watching her dad from the shadows. Which indicates amazing strategic and martial ability. Not to mention how she tracked down Damian and manage to hold her own against him.

4. At first these two did not get along:

And by that I mean, they did not get along.

They did not fight due to the ceasefire. But the things they said to each other? Ouch.

5. Maya loves Goliath:

Before and after trying to kill Damian, Maya always loved Goliath. She even tried to take him away from Damian at one point.

Goliath also loves Maya very much, risking his life for her countless times.

6. Along with her hate for Damian, she was also jelaous of him:

One, he had a family that gave everything to him. Two; while her father never taught her anything, he took in Damian and taught him special moves and trained him. And due to this she naturally had a bit of envy of him.

7. Maya was still adament to kill Damian when they started to get along:

This didn't last that much, but in her mind it was some kind of divine justice.

8. Damian saved Maya from Deathstroke:

After Maya quit trying to become an assassin and killing Damian, Deathstroke came after her. But Damian basically pays her off and gives Slade 5 million dolars to stop trying to kill her. Surprisingly it works.

But Maya doesn't understand why he did this. She calls herself worthless and with this, we can get that she has very low self esteem and self-deprecating thoughts.

9. She is more laxed, compared to Damian:

As you can see, she does not shy away from resting unlike other assassins who do not stop until they complete their plans.

10. She has never killed anyone:

Even before or after Damian, she has 0 body count. She never killed or kills anyone in the future. This fact is the reason why Damian let Maya come with him after she tried to take him on. He knew that she wouldn't be able to do it.

11. Damian has a habit of calling her 'chica':

It's obvious that he does this to annoy her. But we can use this in the fanon as Damian annoying Maya by calling her chica

12. Damian gives Goliath to Maya:

After the redemption trip and Maya forgiving Damian, he tells her to take Golaith with him. Maya refuses and tells him that Goliath belongs to him. But Damian answers with:

Goliath ends up staying with her.

13. Damian shies away from asking Maya for help:

After the redemption arc, Maya settles in and is actually happy. Damian sees this and hesitates to ask for her help.

As you can see, this happens multiple times. Which is cute, to see Damian being shy. Maya could be the only person who makes Damian feel like that.

14. Maya gains a brother:

After forgiving Damian for killing her father, she tells him that he has gained a new sister. Which means a lot because this shows that blood isn't what matters, but love. Seeing Damian accept and love her, destroyes the 'blood son' argument.

15. Maya hates the al Ghul's:

She tells Talia that she hates all the al Ghuls, besides Damian. She also goes on to tell her that she is a horrible mother. And by that, she really goes all out.

16. She kidnaps Jon Kent:

We all know that Damian met Jon by kidnapping him. But the thing is, he wasn't alone! Maya also helped him to kidnap Jon.

If you had to pick a top three favorite episodes of any panel shows EVER, which would you choose? One of mine would have to be Terry Wogan guest hosting old NMTB, which I am dying to watch again in my lifetime. Your old-NMTB-posting reminded me just how amazing and formative those old episodes were for me. Anyway, it got me thinking… I would love to hear yours!

as long as i'm allowed to answer this totally subjectively...! because the objectively most iconic panel show episodes are probably quite different to the ones i gravitate to especially for rewatching — and especially in this difficult recent climate 🫥

this choice is almost bizarre knowing me, a huge huge huge sean lock fan, but this episode of cats does countdown — without sean! and not even golden era, probably, whatever that is in my mind — is so ridiculous and chaotic and stupid that i've watched it about 1000 times. there's something very specific about the dynamic between jimmy, jon, roisin, and joe without sean; those four have been in quite a few episodes without sean and they're like actual children without an adult in the room: jon is goofier and completely lets go of the game, jimmy throws even more to roisin (we do not talk enough about what a fucking kick jimmy gets out of her), roisin and joe's insane sibling dynamic becomes next level. anyways—this episode, which includes rly funny mascots, glory hole, the fucking hoop game and joe eating an onion and jon eating peppers???, THE UNICORN, its sheer childishness just cracks me up every time :') (if we're gonna mention the golden age, 2.02 is very iconic — from rhod killin it and always arguing with jimmy to claude to nick x susie hahaha but i have sooooo many catsdown episodes i love love love)

i really love the episode of 8 out of 10 cats following jimmy's tax scandal. it's not one of my favourite panel shows in general, but the circumstances of the news and the discussion epitomised what the show was meant to be: panel show meets reality tv meets a comedy central roast. watching that live, as the news was running it so heavily that even the prime minister mentioned it, as the press and twitter were reacting to it... wild times. it holds up incredibly well — it's hilarious watching them rip him to shreds, because he deserves every word and they're having a ball doing it to him, and i really appreciate jon grounding the conversation in just how tax avoidance hurts their country and some of its hardest workers — a really interesting, engaging mix of comedy and anger and wit and disappointment and political commentary that is not only funny but strikingly relevant no matter how much time passes. like so, so many people who were so, so disappointed in jimmy, this was the foundation of his carrying the responsibility, shame, reflection, and growth that people wanted to see — and that he truly needed to. since then he's talked a lot about not only righting the wrong (in paying back what he owed in avoidance) but just how the system is so broken — and taking the least complicated, most honest road forward since.

now i want to pick 1000 different things this is why i don't make lists or rank things!!!!! while my instinct is to pick a big fat quiz, i'm actually gonna go top-level nostalgia and say this episode of buzzcocks when stephen fry was a guest. what can i say — simon, stephen, it was two intellectual, mildly bitchy homosexuals on a stacked panel including josie long, dominic cooper, and yet another skinny white rock man for simon to pretend he's not trying to flirt with. stephen saying "there is a history, in pop music, of recto-veginal insertion" and denouncing god, like, in the first 5 minutes? stephen doing the intros round?? did i mention history boys-era dominic cooper??? such a throwback!!! The only way i fuck w stonathan is 2 ways. Post-loserification of steve harrington, no friends, not popular anymore (or au where he was never popular) and he strikes up an unlikely friendship w local freak jonathan byers (they get high together) and either,

ONE: steve and tommy used to fool around when high/drunk so steve asks if jon wants to as if its totally normal and jon agrees (steve is his first)

Or TWO: having good weed and a good taste in mustic combined with his autistic rizz means, in the alt scene, jon isnt exactly a blushing virgin and JON is STEVE'S first (boy).

Either way nancy'd have to be outta the picture so there's no real canon-compliant way to go about this ship i feel which is why i don't rly fuck w it often

I unfortunally don't have The Sims 4 anymore (I had the og paired with totally legal not even a lil bit OFMD inspired DLCs but the DLCs bugged for ocean reasons and it broke the og and now I don't have it but can't redowload it because it acts as if it's still on my PC) but I was looking at my phone's note to delete some and I found a detailed traits plan for a bunch of TMA characthers. What font do you write in? Do you actually care or is that just the default setting?

I'm a filthy little default font user. on docs I use arial, now that I've switched to scrivener the default is something like Sitka I think. I don't care abt fonts, sometimes I'll change it to smthn random to unstick my brain but I don't have specific Font Tastes

I'm actually not. a superstitious person when it comes to writing,,,,, either I will get words down on a page or I won't, it's a simple true/false situation y'know. I am needlessly pragmatic 😭

oh ok this passage from to bleed 1: "The first thing Lilith does when she returns home is fall to her knees. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” she grits out as Camila stands before her, worriedly stroking a hand through her hair. She is eight years old in her first confession all over again: Forgive me, Camila, for I have sinned. It has been too damn long since my last confession."

SO this was the result of me talking with my friend emily (hi emily!) abt how like. theologically horny it was that you had to kneel to confess and the whole like. inherent submission of kneeling in church in general. so I went thru the whole piece and added more horny kneeling and this moment in specific, the whole "forgive me camila" bit is what eventually led to the bdsm kneeling stuff for tb1. before I had cracked the code of horny catholicsm there was no horny stuff in to bleed. everyone say thank you emily.

38. What is something about your writing process YOU think is Really Weird?

Before I post anything on ao3, I read it out loud so I can make sure the flow is correct. Is it horrifying to read smut out loud when ur only audience is ur precious little cats? yes. does it help you make sure all ur dialogue actually sounds like people talking? extremely yes.

Update on my TMA binge: 1st season has been finished.

Below are my main sticking points:

The voice acting is so gooooooood!! Im loving everyone's voices - they all portray their characters emotions and personalities so well!

Jon kinda has the golden medal tho, since hes by far the most prominent voice

Abt the side characters - Martin took me by surprise so hard when he first spoke. I was expecting like..... A big, chill himbo. Kinda like Kronk or Launchpad but less loud, with a grave voice. (Ig part of me had imagined the Martin from Adventure Time?) I was def not expecting the voice of a prepubescent teen.

Anyway, he's baby. Precious to no end but also surprisingly useful and smart? He's an absolute 10/10 I mean. Would buy him sweets and listen to his rambles abt spiders (jon how can you call him a useless ass, he's so un-insultable??? q~q)

Sashaaaaaaa what happened to my favorite gurl???? And also the only one... She was literally the only reason everyone else escaped the worms, Sasha saved everyone's butts. By far the most competent and brave of the squad - a true Gryffindor u-u

But im afraid she died from whatever got her in the storage unit... I've been skimming through the comment section on each episode's youtube video, and some of them seem to imply she's dead for good... I reaaaaally don't want that to be true, she was so cool!! and the single holder of the Archives braincell!! I dont want her to die ;-;

And Tim!! Tim had the least amount of recorded time, but he's already a fave too. Him pretending to be Jon right before Sasha tackled him was so so funny. Also, ig he's kinda what I thought Martin would be. So no losses there!

Elias is.... Weird. Weird in the sense that he seems so obviously suspicious, i hesitate to pin the blame of anything on him. Like it's too easy to be true you know??? Like they're making him look shady on purpose to distract us from the actual shadiness going on. Idk though. He's shown up so little until now he might just have nothing to do with nothing, or be the big final boss. He's got me very confused (also his voice is sooooo cool, i love it. He gives me stern professor vibes)

How much the statements creep me out highly depends on what they're abt. Like, so far, the scariest have been Piecemeal 14#, Lost John's Cave 15#, and Infestation 39# purely because of all the screaming.

And abt the bigger story..... Idk about anything yet, but I'm very curious indeed.

The Dreamer #11 keeps coming back to me when i try to piece it together. Wth was supposed to happen to Gertrude?? Did it come to pass, and it was somehow how she ended up shot, or... did she find a way to kill herself so as not to have to face that fate?? And now Jon has to because he's in her place???

I rly dunno abt anything yet. Im just vibin and listening to all these spooks and having fun. I shall continue doing so rn actually.
