was looking through old posts and i'm surprised to see that i seemingly didn't have any commentary on anything in 3 in chapter 7, 8 or 9, the posts related to 3's story go from "my first reaction when i saw yopple-bot was 'i love you. but also you are definitely the boss for this chapter-'" to "i have been in hell all day. hell being bada-bing tower." funny to me cuz those chapters are like, the best ones sdfkljsdfjfsdkjlfsdjkl-

See, I don't really think Avatar Suiren was consciously aware of Raava for most of the years before Harmonic Convergence. She knew OF Raava and that her being inside of her is what makes her the Avatar, and Raava intentionally fed her flashbacks and memories and weird dreams of the past Avatars to try dissuading her from becoming the Last, but she didn't have a connection to her like Korra does. Maybe establishing that connection was something she worked on in the months leading up to HC so she could convince Raava to not be so hostile to Vaatu once she fuses with him, I'm not too sure. But the point is, during Harmonic Convergence Suiren CAN hear Raava actively screaming at the prospect of Vaatu being freed, and it only spurs her own in her decision because how the fuck can ONE being be SO. FUCKING. ANNOYING???

So HC comes, Suiren opens both Spirit Portals (can that be done from the Spirit World? It can, right? I haven't rewatched LoK in over 3 years, I'm not too well versed on Book 2 lore. Anyway, even if it can't in canon, it can in my verse because that would be much more convenient than having to travel to first one and then the other while trying to not let the world find out that you're the Avatar. I imagine they head to the North and she opens that one, then opens the South one from the Spirit World), fights Unalaq for Vaatu and maybe kills him, and fuses with Vaatu. Ideally, she would have liked to let both spirits go right then and there, but if there's one thing her status as the Avatar is good for it's helping her parents achieve their goals – and also, she DOES NOT trust Raava and Vaatu to behave outside of a controlled environment, she'd rather they sort out their issues while not capable of destroying the world with their fighting – so for a while at least, she is still the Avatar. Probably for quite a few years afterwards since the world can't change in a day.

But anyway, she wanted Raava to shut up? Well jokes on her, HC had the exact opposite effect bc not only did Raava not shut up, now Vaatu is constantly yapping too!! But he's actually much more bearable, because while he can be rather edgy and emo at times, at least he doesn't nag like Raava, and 10000 years of being locked away left him desperate for conversation so he's up for talking about anything Suiren wants. However, he and Raava fight A LOT, sometimes getting carried away and forgetting to keep it from Suiren. As a result, poor Renny is often overstimulated by the sound and occasionally doesn't bother with the mental link and yells at them out loud

Honestly, idk where this whole ass meta just came from, my main point was that I found the idea of everyone sitting in total silence and Suiren just suddenly going "Shut the FUCK UP" extremely hilarious :D But I do like the idea of her speaking to Vaatu out loud, seemingly talking to herself, because I think that's rather endearing. And she does eventually form a good relationship with Raava once she and Vaatu settle a little, and is even a bit sad when the time comes to part with them, though she knows it's ultimately for the best, for the sake of herself, the world, the Spirit Kites, her past lives and whoever she reincarnates into

was talking w a friend about this last night and i think another reason i feel that s3 should combine tvl and qotd is bc i want an actual dynamic between louis and gabrielle. like i've only read the first 3 books in their entirety but the fact that louis and gabrielle spent most of qotd and we don't really get any idea what they think about each other or anything is a crime. and like having gabrielle reveal parts of lestat's past to louis i think continues those threads of a story belonging to whoever tells it and the way gabrielle sees lestat is different from the way louis sees him and how lestat sees himself and the "true" version (if such a thing can exist) lies in the gestalt of all of those things. like a parent sees their child differently than they see themself and a spouse would also have their own perspective. but then bc of how fucked lestat and gabrielle's whole thing is, the lines between parent/child and lover begin to bleed into each other in a similar way that louis and lestat's relationship also has that overlap between spouses and sire/progeny that i think the show has already shown interest in examining in a very compelling way. i think it makes more sense too bc s1 and apparently s2 are incorporating the relevant parts of tvl already so it makes sense to not wholly dedicate a season to a single book going forward (esp bc a lot of these books don't have full plots that are worth adapting lmao)

So it seems like tumblr has finally rolled out the new post editor for photosets, which does mean it is finally the end of the image captions

For those of you that are unaware, in photosets you have the option to add a ‘caption’ to the image, that shows up when it’s clicked (see below). I love putting little comments or jokes in many of my photosets, and was a big fan of this feature

Going forwards it looks like this has been replaced with an alt text option for each photo, which while less sightly is probably about as equivalent as it’s going to get

All this to say I reached out to tumblr support and it does seem like the caption feature is pretty much done, and will probably be phased out on older posts soon. That means that the next few days I’ll be going through all my old art posts to save those captions for my own records, but I wanted to post this publicly in case other people were a fan of this feature/wanted to archive their own commentary, and to tell everyone that likes my stuff about all the silly little comments currently on all my old art if you’d like to check them out before they’re removed!

Haven't actually met Mr. Yakboy mystery man yet. Saw him in a cutscene, but Builder wasn't in the cutscene so I don't think it counts as 'met'.

He'd have to be a pretty dadgum cool character to top Fang, Qi, and Unsuur imo, but mtas players really seem to like him a lot, so maybe he really is all that. Only time will tell.
