the concept of jedi as celebrities is so interesting to me, mostly because they're monks of an order whose philosophy is grounded on egoless service and humility. one jedi should be roughly the same as any other when sent on a mission, because the jedi serve the force. there may be slight differences in methodologies, yes, but fundamentally, they're not there to make a name for themselves as anything other than as representatives of the jedi order.

but of COURSE it makes sense that the galaxy would be obsessed with them. a mysterious group of wizards who use flashy swords and make peace through persuasive words and heroic deeds? of course people wrote books about them, watched shows about them, adults gossiped about them, and kids pretended to be them when playing. so the question of how all that knowledge was wiped away within a generation is a good one, and the comic presents a good answer:

the earnest goodness of the jedi comes across to many as sanctimonious. they're too responsible with their power, too cool and restrained. they don't lash out with anger on behalf of those they love, you know? they don't smile enough, too serious. they're seen as the embodiment of "we have food at home" energy. the reality of the canonical order as gentle and joyful, surprisingly playful and open, isn't sexy enough to redeem their moral authority.

based on my inbox and the way people respond to some of my posts about the jedi, the resentment that this engenders in the population of the GFFA feels very real. there is actual HATRED directed toward this fictional group, irrational and out of all proportion. the comic suggests that people jump to hate those who make them feel guilty and self-conscious, because lashing out absolves yourself of confronting the reason you secretly know you'd be judged and found wanting, and that seems accurate.

i would insert a thousand examples here of the jedi not deserving this reputation, but the canon behavior of the jedi doesn't matter, the galaxy cheered as they died anyway and lots of fans love to hate on them. the mere concept of them and their philosophy is enough to alienate people, and i think that's a shame, but understandable. i'll love them enough to make up for it haha

kira worshipper mikami has been done 17377363727 times to the point where it's overdone and so many people just ignores all other aspects of his character. but. i need to get something out. what if mikami prays to kira every day at specific times. like once during sunrise, one when the sun is directly over your head, one during sunset, and the last one in midnight. there is a very specific ritual to it and he follows it everyday, all the exact times without fail. never misses a prayer. what then.

For the water tribes, women would be mermaids, while men would be werewolves, but there are always exceptions.

The Earth Kingdom would be vampires, you know, because of Ba Sing Se's hypnosis, and because of the fear of the sun.

And the Fire Nation would be witches, why? for an inside joke.

Inspired by a user to make the agere ponified engine drawing. The user in question is taking a break from that fandom currently (Or more like, they tend to jump around fandoms because they're multifandom, so it's not a full break), but I was inspired by a couple posts from @c00lac0la 's blog (They're fixated on other fandoms currently but I based it off of their headcanons). I was inspired by a drawing, too, on their blog, but that's all I will say.

Oliver and Duck take a stroll down to the local beach at Maretime Bay (I know people hate G5 and I'm not a fond of it, my AU is a crossover and it's technically G4, so it's nothing like canon). Duck has always wanted to be near the ocean and ever since coming to Equestria to visit their new friends, he's been enjoying being closer to the ocean and feeling the sand.

On this particular day, Duck has been stressed out and having trouble communicating verbally, as a result, their new friends recommended to him to unmask and relax, even if that meant acting younger. Their best friend Misty Brightdawn, recommended to Duck to try out pacifiers as a way to relax. Another recommended stim toys and communication cards. He took all the advice, but he will not use a pacifier in public because he thinks ponies and even his other friends will judge.

The only friend (who is from the same railway as him) he confided about his issues with was Oliver. He understood it and has been playing kind of a babysitter/brotherly role to Duck. Which has made him feel safer, especially in public.

Here, they're on the beach. Duck is concerned, thinking someone will catch on because he has gadgets that are commonly used by younger individuals/foals. But he was also worried that someone would assume he was mentally disabled due to being too anxious to talk (selective mutism) and resorting to communication cards. The only thing that has reassured him was that he refused to bring the most foalish items in public, including the pacifier. Oliver has been comforting him and smiling as reassurance, he would never let anything bad happen to Duck in these vulnerable times.

For why Oliver and Duck are not in their heavily recognized colors, that's because in my AU canon, the two engines livery is a lot closer to the real life livery of the Great Western Railway instead of the North Western Railway's green livery. And yes, I made Duck lighter, but he's only lighter in pony form but still nowhere close to the NWR Green.

The reason I see the two as being actual GWR green is because of their pride of their heritage. I don't think they would like being NWR green because they wouldn't look Great Western if they were as light as their actual TVS counterparts. They heavily believe in "The Great Western Way", although that's more of Duck's thing but Oliver has that mentality too, but not as bad.

I have some Looming Gaia OCs, though I should note that most of these are actually old characters created for other stuff that I just started imagining in the LG universe. I don’t have much of a story for them, they’re just a couple families living in Drifter’s Hollow.

Firstly the Vrinsa family, a blended roshava-elf family.

Molsa Vrinsa, roshava woman whose family moved here from Serkel. She’s smart and pretty serious and doesn’t like nonsense, and not as athletic as roshava usually are. She has twin kids, Noros and Satara, a little younger than Isaac appears to be. She’s divorced from their dad because they just didn’t get along.

Noros, Molsa’s son. He’s kind of a dumbass and is willing to do pretty much anything you dare him to do, to the point that Satara jokes that he’s a goblin whose true name is “I dare you”. He’s got a few scars and injuries from doing stupid things, like when a girl he had a crush on told him to kiss a wild raccoon (or something similar they have in the area, not sure) or when Satara dared him to hold the knife towards himself while whittling (very serious issue) and when he meets someone new, he always tries to impress them by talking about how he got in a knife fight with evil bandits or something. Which is hard because the whole village knows what a dumbass he is and are likely to correct him. Is trying hard to be less stupid now.

Satara, Noros’ twin sister. She’s pretty grumpy and cynical and not very sociable. Most of the time she just helps Valma and Lijen’s family with farming, reads the like 3 books they have at home for the gillionth time, or watches her brother’s shenanigans. But she’s a pretty good singer and sometimes sings in Lahja’s band (see below), though not much because she doesn’t like being around a lot of people. One time the audience started clapping to the song and she got angry and stopped singing to tell them to stop, so now they have to make posters (drawn by Noros, who’s pretty good at drawing actually) with DON’T CLAP DURING PERFORMANCE in big letters

Cresti, Molsa’s new elven husband. He’s from Mogdir, his wife died from illness when Valeria was little, but he’s gotten over it pretty well and is happy with Molsa. He’s almost annoyingly friendly and cheerful. Likes painting and painted big flowers and stuff on Molsa’s house. Noros and Satara at first were annoyed by him, but now they like him more since they realized that he’s a lot nicer than their bio dad.

Valerie, Cresti’s daughter, around the same age as Azadora. Besties with Aino (see below), and similarly annoyingly friendly as her dad. She loves animals but not the “gross” or “mean” ones like rats or snakes, and since her dad is Mogdiri, he tells her that bugs aren’t animals, and she doesn’t like those either. Satara sometimes tells her gross animal facts to freak her out, but she gets along well enough with her new siblings. Despite what the image says her name ends with E because i remembered that i have another old oc named Valeria

There’s also a family of centaurs. I don’t have accurate drawings for them yet and it might take a while, but here’s some info:

Valma and Lijen, a centaur couple living in the hollow. They’re vegetable farmers and have a bunch of chickens too, and a lot of kids. They’ve lived in the Hollow for quite long, before most of the others moved in.

Valma is magical and knows curative and botanical magic, she’s kinda inspired by Easter witches that are a thing in some countries. She’s albino but wears colorful clothing to compensate. She hates violence and kinda wishes the FGG would move out because they keep attracting enemies.

Lijen also dislikes unnecessary violence, but is willing to rough someone up if he needs to, and often goes hunting too.

They have seven kids:

Taru, their oldest daughter. She brews mild alcoholic drinks and sells them, and is kinda passive-aggressive towards Itchy’s whiskey, like “our drinks are totally legal and won’t kill you unlike some people’s drinks!!” She also likes sports and often plays with others.

Emilia, second daughter. She’s helping her parents with farming and is good with textile work. She’s a bit harder to adapt to new concepts than most of the family, like the foreigner's clothes or Jeimos’ gender identity, but is trying to get better with that.

Lahja, around the same age as Noros and Satara. She likes fishing, and has a girlfriend named Vidia in Woodborne, they have sort of a band along with Satara. Thinks Satara is cool and had a crush on her at one point, but gave up when Satara made it clear she doesn’t want a relationship.

Veeti, around Frederick’s age. When he was younger, he thought Freddie was a cool kid and tried to bully the other kids too, but couldn’t bring himself to get nearly as bad as him and eventually gave up on that. He likes baking and runs a mini bakery.

Miska, around Tomato’s age. He’s albino like his mom, and also hates violence, but he’s more of a scaredy-cat. He doesn’t do well with new people and finds the mercenaries a bit scary, but is better with younger kids and animals. Frederick bullied him a lot so he’s not good with older kids either.

Aino, second youngest daughter. She’s a girly girl and having a princess phase. She hangs out with Valerie a lot, and likes music and often hangs around the musical FGGs (Alaine, Glenvar, Jeimos, and Mr. Ocean) hoping they’ll teach her to play something.

Marja, their youngest daughter. She’s a cheery kid and thinks vampires are cool. Stalks Zeffer a little because she suspects he’s still a vampire, but her family tries to keep her away from him.

Bonus facts about Dr. Awesomeness (A bit sillier and not that “realistic” OC but I still like her)

-She was born from a rock concert in an unusually iron-free area in Zareen. She had her amphora turned into a sick guitar too instead of lyre

-She’s around 6’11” ft tall, shorter than normal minervae, and is self-conscious about it. Not that anybody else cares because she’s probably never met a “real” minervae in person and she’s taller than most people anyway. Also she’s around 600 years younger than Yue, who born sometime in the early 5th age, so Awesomeness if from the mid-5th age (this is a reference to how I came up with her around 6 years after coming up with the original version of Yue)

-She doesn’t have a Tome of Infinity, and just writes stuff down in a bunch of notebooks she has laying around. It makes her harder to kill tho.

-She’s alloaro (feels sexual attraction but not romantic). It doesn’t have anything to do with the fact she’s evil, she's perfectly capable of being a loving (platonic) partner to somebody, as long as they don’t worry about the Zareenite prisoners that she keeps in the basement for testing chemical weapons on.

Still thinking about Tuvok and Vorik.

Like, I now really wish that the series had an episode where Tuvok seeks him out and tries to give him tips for how to keep your vulcan logic and emotional control in tact while being on a mostly human ship. And Vorik follows them to a T...only to completely mess up.

Like he just instantly gets into a fight with Belaana, accidentally insults Tom Paris, etc.

Eventually he concludes that nope, this is not helping, and he starts acting more himself again. (I headcanon that he's from a less traditional vulcan family and that's why both him and Taurik joined starfleet)

And he realizes how the humans actually respond better to him if he lets his emotional shields down. Which I can imagine might be exciting for younger vulcans who maybe don't really understand the importance of them yet? (Like how we see with child Tuvok in one episode, even though yk...vorik's clearly older than that.)

So throughout the series we get to watch Vorik slowly turn from your average cold vulcan into someone who's almost openly showing his feelings (as much as he's able to anyways)

I can imagine this would make things between Tuvok and him a lot more akward too since I believe Vorik would subconsciously still look up to him in a way, even if he doesn't feel the need to practice emotional suppression as much anymore.

So it'd probably come to scenes where Vorik's just chatting with a crew member and having a very slight smile on his face, only to turn 😐 again once he spots Tuvok walking past them.
